This teaching guide for instructing students in Internet of Things programming using mathematical modeling and data analysis is intended for mathematics and computer science teachers in elementary and secondary schools, as well as for students training to teach these subjects. It responds to the requirements of the new curriculum reform in Slovakia, which emphasizes a cyclical learning process, the development of data, digital, and mathematical literacy, and the integration of teaching with real-world problems and technologies. The guide is designed in accordance with the methodological framework of design-based research. It contains technological and methodological foundations, as well as a set of proven teaching activities divided into three levels of difficulty. The teaching guide provides teachers with specific instructions, recommendations, and examples of best practices for the meaningful integration of IoT and mathematical modeling into teaching across different educational cycles, creating space for modern, interdisciplinary, and data-driven education.

The lecture notes "Land Information Systems and Smart Cities" provides a comprehensive overview of geoinformation technologies within the context of public administration and modern land management. The publication systematically explains the principles of Land Information Systems (LIS), their architecture, components, and practical applications. Emphasis is placed on linking GIS technologies with real-world applications in local governments, infrastructure organizations, and the business sector. The text covers the hardware and software equipment of LIS, including modern trends such as cloud computing, open-source solutions, and the integration of artificial intelligence.

Special attention is given to data, which represent a key component of LIS, including an overview of the most important geospatial data products in Slovakia. The publication analyzes WebGIS technologies, map portals, and OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS) in detail, which enable the effective accessibility and sharing of geodata. A significant part is also dedicated to the National Infrastructure for Spatial Information (NIPI) and the INSPIRE Directive, ensuring data interoperability at both national and European levels.

The opening chapters of the textbook outline the historical development of psychotherapeutic approaches and the shift toward the systemic paradigm, which emphasizes the importance of relationships, context, and circularity in understanding psychological phenomena.

The core of the text focuses on the philosophical foundations of systemic therapy, particularly general systems theory, cybernetics, constructivism, and social constructionism, all of which have significantly shaped the understanding of reality, knowledge, and the therapeutic process. Subsequent chapters address biological and social foundations, including the concepts of autopoiesis, cognition, and communication, and their relevance to the functioning of social systems. This elektronic material provides practical guidance for determining the structure of organic compounds using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry (MS). The publication is intended primarily for single-discipline undergraduate and interdisciplinary undergraduate students in chemistry as a supplementary material for the course Methods of Structure Determination – Spectroscopic Methods. The text is divided into four parts: NMR, IR, MS, and exercises on combined structural analysis. Each section includes a brief theoretical introduction, practical tips for spectrum interpretation, solved examples, and especially unsolved exercises that allow students to practice analyzing real spectra. The material supports the development of analytical thinking and the ability to unambiguously determine the structure of unknown compounds. The publication was created as a teaching aid for seminars. Its goal is to help students effectively understand the combination of spectroscopic methods and their application in the structural analysis of organic compounds.

On November 28, 2025, the Department of Commercial Law and Economic Law, in cooperation with the Department of Labor Law and Social Security Law of the Faculty of Law at UPJŠ in Košice, organized the 10th anniversary student symposium focused on commercial law, labor law, and IT law. The symposium, entitled "Decision-making practice of judicial authorities in private law II," built on the success of the previous year and once again provided students with an opportunity to showcase their analytical skills and legal creativity. The symposium was prepared as part of the APVV-23-0331 scientific project "Integration of the Capital Markets Union: Changes in Corporate Financing and the Rescue of Commercial Companies in Financial Difficulties."

Okrúhle číslo Doktorandských miscelaneí nás vyzýva na krátke bilancovanie. V desiatich zväzkoch zborníka sme uverejnili spolu 116 príspevkov zo siedmich doktorandských študijných odborov. V každom čísle boli zastúpené štúdie z literárnej vedy (v prvých šiestich zväzkoch bol pre interdisciplinárne filologické štúdie používaný názov literárna veda/slovakistika). Z ostatných odborov boli najčastejšie uverejňované texty z filozofie a sociálnej práce, pričom štúdie z filozofie chýbali iba v posledných dvoch zväzkoch a štúdie zo sociálnej práce v prvých dvoch a v siedmom zväzku.

V zborníku sa snažíme udržiavať prvotnú myšlienku, ktorou bolo kultivovať domáci výskumný priestor najmladšej generácie bádateľov v interdisciplinárnom dialógu, čo si vyžaduje dosahovanie medzinárodných štandardov kvality, no na druhej strane aj zachovanie identity zborníka ako jedinečnej domácej publikačnej platformy.

Kolektívna monografia Leško, V. – Róbert Stojka a kol.: Heidegger, metafyzika a Gréci (Košice: UPJŠ 2016, 695 s.) je prvým historicko-filozofickým pokusom na Slovensku, ale aj v širších zahraničných kontextoch, vysporiadať sa s takto zvolenou ústrednou témou Heideggerovho diela. Práca je členená do troch základných časti. V prvej, ktorá je nazvaná od Augustína k Aristotelovi, autori jednotlivých kapitol skúmajú genézu Heideggerovho vzťahu ku gréckej filozofii a skúmanie hlavnej Heideggerovej otázky – otázky bytia - od jeho prvých prednáškových kurzov k Aristotelovej filozofii z rokov 1921/1922 až do roku 1929, keď mu vychádza práca k Aristotelovej Metafyzike. Naše skúmanie jednoznačne potvrdzuje skutočnosť, že v týchto Heideggerových raných textov (prednáškových cyklov) sa postupne rodia všetky dôležité filozofické pozície, ktoré mali svoje zavŕšenie v práci Bytie a čas.

The proceedings Consumers and Traders Online: Legal and Economic Challenges of Digital Markets present a collection of scientific studies addressing contemporary issues of digital market functioning within the European Union. The contributions analyse legal, economic and technological dimensions of digital services, particularly in the context of the VEGA project 1/0431/23 focused on the conflict of interests between consumers and traders in the delivery of digital content and services. The studies highlight the dynamic growth of the digital economy, bringing new regulatory challenges, issues of data protection and enforcement of consumer rights. The authors examine topics such as geographical indications in the digital environment, the use of artificial intelligence in public enforcement, fintech regulation, liability for damages, and the impacts of the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The publication Digiform: A Supporting Application to Digilib – User Guide, Part B presents the Digiform web application as a tool that extends the functionality of the Digilib digital library of formative assessment tools. The application enables the creation and editing of formative assessment tool templates, which can be adapted to the specificities of individual subjects and levels of education and subsequently imported into the Digilib environment for use in the teaching process. The guide provides a detailed description of how to work with the Digiform application, from creating new templates, editing and personalising them, through to their export and implementation in the main Digilib application. Attention is also given to the interconnection with the Digilib Images application, which enables the integration of visual elements into the assessment tools, thereby enhancing their didactic effectiveness and visual appeal. The guide is intended for teachers at all levels of education, student teachers, school administrators, and digital coordinators who are interested in the systematic use of the Digilib digital library to support the implementation of formative assessment, enhance the quality of the educational process, and foster the development of students’ self-assessment and reflective competences.

Každý človek má potreby – od tých najzákladnejších, ako je jedlo a bezpečie, až po potrebu lásky, uznania a sebarealizácie, teda rozvoja svojho potenciálu. Tieto potreby boli zoradené do tzv. Maslowovej pyramídy, kde na seba nadväzujú podľa toho, ako veľmi sú pre náš život nevyhnutné. Ak máme uspokojené základné potreby, začneme túžiť po tých vyšších – napríklad po blízkych vzťahoch, spolupatričnosti, rešpekte a možnosti rozvíjať sa.

Ľudia so zdravotným znevýhodnením majú rovnaké potreby ako ktokoľvek iný. Rozdiel je často len v tom, že ich naplnenie je pre nich náročnejšie – nie preto, že by ich menej chceli, ale preto, že im v tom často bránia vonkajšie prekážky. Chýbajúca podpora, bariéry v prostredí, nedostatok informácií či predsudky spoločnosti spôsobujú, že sa na ich potreby zabúda. Niektoré potreby sa potom stávajú „neviditeľné“ – nie preto, že by neexistovali, ale preto, že ich okolie nevníma.

Sociálne potreby, ako je láska, priateľské vzťahy, pocit spolupatričnosti, možnosť komunikovať a byť súčasťou komunity, sú pre ľudí kľúčové. Ak nie sú naplnené, vznikajú pocity samoty, smútku, bezmocnosti či frustrácie. Z výskumov vieme, že osamelosť alebo pocit odmietnutia môže bolieť rovnako ako fyzická bolesť. O to dôležitejšie je vnímať, že každý z nás túži po tom istom – po prijatí, rešpekte, priateľstve, láske.

The proceedings of student papers from the V. Annual Student Symposium represent a collection of analytical and comparative studies in the fields of tax policy, public finance, and financial law, reflecting the current challenges of the Slovak and European economies. The authors (students) focus on a wide range of topics – from considerations regarding the reintroduction of inheritance tax in Slovakia, through issues of tax evasion and abuse of law in taxation, to measures aimed at public finance consolidation. The authors (students) in their contributions also analyse practical aspects of tax administration, such as tax enforcement proceedings, case law concerning the burden of proof, and the financing of civic associations through tax assignation mechanisms. Particular attention is paid to modern challenges of tax policy, including the taxation of digital giants, financial transaction tax, and the regulation of crypto-asset service provision in the V4 countries. The proceedings also highlight the connection between tax instruments, the financing of cultural institutions, and the broader social context of public expenditures. The publication thus offers a comprehensive overview of current trends and perspectives in the field of taxation and public finance within the conditions of the Slovak Republic and the European Union.

The monograph offers a comprehensive perspective on the theoretical, methodological, and empirical dimensions of participatory visual research within the field of social work. It is grounded in the understanding that social work plays a crucial role in amplifying the voices of vulnerable groups and promoting social justice, with particular attention paid to persons with disabilities who frequently encounter limited opportunities for participation as well as persistent social, communicative, and environmental barriers. The author analyses the concept of participation in alignment with the principle of “Nothing about us without us” and presents the PhotoVoice method as an interdisciplinary tool that integrates participatory action research, critical pedagogy, feminist epistemologies, and documentary photography. The method is understood not only as a research technique but also as a form of visual advocacy, enabling participants to articulate their experiences, needs, and perspectives in ways accessible to both professional audiences and the wider public. The monograph reflects on the development of PhotoVoice in international scholarship and highlights its potential to transcend traditional academic boundaries toward participatory and transformative practice in social work. The empirical section comprises three projects conducted by the author in the Slovak context, focusing on diverse groups of persons with disabilities and their families, who face specific social needs and everyday barriers. The findings demonstrate the potential of PhotoVoice to strengthen participation through accessible and meaningful visual tools. The monograph also addresses methodological, ethical, and terminological considerations and adopts an inclusive understanding of disability consistent with contemporary approaches in social work.

The collection of scientific contributions offers an interdisciplinary analysis of the challenges labour law faces due to digitalization and social change. This scientific volume has been published as an output of the VEGA grant project No. 1/0474/24 Audit of Slovak Electoral and Referendum Legislation. Thematically, it focuses on the issue of the legal regulation of election campaigns and a critical analysis of the experience of its application in electoral practice. On this basis, the authors also formulate proposals for improving the current legal framework of election campaigns.

The proceedings include contributions presented at the scientific conference of the same name held in May 2025. The volume contains papers not only from domestic but also from foreign authors, who present the legal regulation of election campaigns in their respective home countries. Contributions from academics are complemented and enriched by those of representatives of non-governmental organizations engaged in election and campaign monitoring, as well as by contributions from authors working in public authorities responsible for the administration of elections and for overseeing the constitutionality and legality of elections.

It emphasizes the importance of water as an irreplaceable resource and the need to protect it. Special attention is given to bioindicators – organisms whose presence or absence reflects the state of the environment. Monitoring bioindicators makes it possible to detect ecosystem changes before serious damage occurs. The publication highlights that biodiversity is essential for ecosystem stability and health. The EFFUSE Teacher's Guide is a practical educational material for primary and secondary school teachers who want to develop environmental awareness with their pupils through field-based learning. It is based on the concept of the EFFUSE project (‘Environment for the future by science education’), which aims to link science, research and education with environmental protection. The manual provides teachers with methodological support for planning and implementing outdoor activities aimed at observing and documenting organisms around the Laborec River and the Uh River. It contains instructions for working with real samples, basic biomonitoring procedures and offers the opportunity to participate in the creation of a virtual laboratory that mirrors the state of the local aquatic ecosystem. Through these activities, pupils will learn to understand the links between human activity and the state of the environment, while learning the basics of how scientists work in the fields of biology and ecology. The guide also motivates teachers to become agents of positive change, inspire the younger generation to be active and engage the community in conservation. It is a challenge and an opportunity to create a space for meaningful learning in line with current trends in environmental and digital education.

EFFUSE - A Guide for Students is an interactive educational resource for primary and secondary school students to help them better understand how their daily activities affect the environment. The handbook was developed within the EFFUSE project (‘Environment for the future by science education’) and motivates young people to take a greater interest in the nature around them. It focuses on practical field activities during which they will explore the ecosystem of the Laborec and Uh rivers, observe and document organisms and work with real samples from nature. At the same time, they will learn about the work of scientists - botanists, zoologists and microbiologists - and learn basic biomonitoring methods. The manual will also guide them through the process of creating a virtual laboratory to display the results of their investigations of an aquatic ecosystem. It will help them understand the importance of sustainable development and encourage them to behave responsibly towards nature. It is their opportunity to learn about their surroundings in a new way, to learn to think scientifically and to become active creators of positive change for their community and future generations.
