Táto učebnica je určená pre zahraničných študentov medicíny – začiatočníkov – ako slovenčina na špecifický účel výučby. Jej cieľom je pomôcť zahraničným študentom, ktorí (1) študujú medicínu (2) v cudzom jazyku (anglický jazyk) a (3) v zahraničí (Slovensko) zvládnuť výzvu pri príprave na praktickú časť ich štúdia – konverzácia s pacientom v Slovenskom jazyku.Zámerom je poskytnúť študentom krok za krokom najfrekventovanejšie slovné spojenia a výrazy potrebné pri komunikácii s pacientom. Lekcie sa zameriavajú hlavne na slovnú zásobu týkajúcu sa častí ľudského tela a na základné symptómy a príznaky chorôb.Dôraz je kladený na krátke dialógy medzi lekárom a pacientom. Pri precvičovaní dialógov sú študenti vedení k nácviku komunikácie so zreteľom na porozumenie, bez prípadných obáv o gramatickú správnosť. Gramatické javy sú predstavované postupne, cez jednoduché  pomôcky – „tipy“.V prípade potreby si môžu študenti nájsť a doplniť si „chýbajúce časti gramatiky“ prostredníctvom odkazov na odporúčanú literatúru. Cieľom tejto knihy je uľahčiť a zefektívniť celý proces štúdia/osvojenia si (lekárskej) slovenčiny.

The collection of articles from the VII. International Scientific Conference for Students and Young Scientists, organized by the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, in cooperation with the Res Publica Civic Association the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, held on 17 May 2019 in Košice.

The aim of this publication, entitled The Turning Eights, is to point out the importance of the years ending with number eight, which have significantly affected historical development and appear to be justified in the current political context.

The almanac consists of 11 articles, which are primarily in the Slovak language. The individual contributions deal with aspects of national and foreign policies that are united in theme called The Turning Eightswith the individual interest of each author.

The topics of the almanac are the municipal elections, the position of municipalities at the public administration system, development in self-governing regions and the non-governmental organizations. The presented publication also contains articles that deal with topics in specific countries, such as China, Israel and Russia.

Intervenčný program na podporu starostlivosti o seba pre pomáhajúce profesie s názvom Ako sa o seba starám? vznikol v rámci riešenia výskumnej úlohy APVV14-0921 „Starostlivosť o seba ako faktor vyrovnávania sa s negatívnymi dôsledkami vykonávania pomáhajúcich profesií“. Jeho špecifikum spočíva v tom, že bol vytvorený na základe konkrétnych výskumných výstupov samotných autorov programu a projektu. V prvej kapitole autorky ponúkajú pohľad na prípravu intervenčného programu so zdôvodnením teoretických východísk, metód a špecifík účastníkov programu. Poskytujú tiež prehľad výskumov efektivity rozmanitých intervenčných programov zacielených na redukciu negatívnych dôsledkov pomáhania a posilňovanie starostlivosti o seba a iných pozitívnych efektov vykonávania pomáhajúcej profesie. Ďalšie kapitoly sú zamerané na podrobnú analýzu a zhodnotenie efektivity intervenčného programu Ako sa o seba starám? a jeho komparáciu s efektivitou iných programov, ktoré boli rôzne zamerané, určené rôznym populáciám pomáhajúcich profesionálov, ako aj mali odlišné teoretické a praktické zacielenie a základy. Väčšina týchto výskumov preukázala iba v ojedinelých prípadoch pozitívne zmeny, a to vďaka rôznym metodologickým nedostatkom, často spojených s praktickou aplikáciou.

To, čo diferencuje intervenčný program prezentovaný v tejto monografii, je účasť pomáhajúcich profesionálov aktívne vykonávajúcich prax v sociálnej oblasti, oproti väčšine intervenčných programov zostavených a overovaných pre študentov týchto profesií. Študentská populácia, ako ľahšie prístupná pre výskumníkov, umožňuje kvalitnejšiu metodológiu, zahrnúť väčší počet účastníkov, ako aj experimentálnu manipuláciu a vyváženie skupín. V prípade účastníkov overovania programu Ako sa o seba starám? išlo o praktikov, ktorí sú zapojení v každodennom pracovnom procese a tréning absolvovali vo svojom pracovnom voľne, čo kládlo vysoké nároky na zladenie ich pracovných, osobných úloh. Domnievame sa, že tie dôsledky, ktoré sme v rámci overovania efektivity prezentovaného intervenčného programu odhalili, nie vždy boli jasne matematicky uchopiteľné, ale boli zrejmé z individuálnych spätných väzieb.

Predkladáme text tejto monografie odbornej verejnosti, s cieľom poukázať na prínosy, limity intervenčného programu, ako aj inšpirovať výskumníkov a praktikov k ďalšej práci v tejto oblasti.

The monograph is dealing with the issue of homosexuality and homophobia in the context of social work and it is divided into five chapters, which are devoted to individual fields of the tackled issue. The first chapter is describing the phenomenon of homosexuality in the society; the focus is put on human sexuality and sexual orientation. The following chapter is clarifying the formation of homosexual identity in connection to coming out and it describes its frequently utilized models. The third chapter is devoted to the concepts of heteronormativity and heterosexism in the social context. Furthermore, the chapter is dealing with the formation of attitudes towards this issue from the point of view of religion and masculinity. Another chapter is describing homophobia as the result of heteronormativity, stereotypes and prejudice. In the last chapter, the authors are introducing selected social work theories dealing with the homosexual minority, the approaches to LGBT+ community and suggestions towards elimination of homophobia within the social work environment.

This peer-reviewed collection of papers is a publication output of the scientific colloquium named The Magic of Sounds, which was organized by the Department of Slovak Studies, Slavonic Philologies and Communication at the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and by the Košice Branch of the Slovak Linguistic Society at the Ľudovít Štúr Linguistic Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of birth of Associate Professor PhDr. Jozef Liška, PhD., the founder of the Slovak logopaedics. Participants focused their papers on the analysis of the linguistic and speech therapy work of J. Liška, his contribution to Slovak dialectology and orthoepy, presented him as an Anglicist, and they also dealt with the audio aspect of children's speech, exact methods of disturbances and low voice quality measuring, or machine speech processing. An interpretative paper of the documentary They Will Speak Well, a socially important piece of film work, which was made in 1958 under the supervision of J. Liška, is also included in the proceedings.

The textbook is addressed to up-and-coming media staffers and teachers of Slovak language, a target group which will be a prospective model for common users in their language behaviour. It poses an educational project that points out to the correlation of standard language and language (primarily orthoepical) norm.

The publication is structured in the way that after the explanation of the given orthoepical problem on the segmenal level (in correspondence with the valid orthoepical norm anchored in Rules of Slovak Orthoepy by Á. Kráľ, 2005, 2009), there follow exercises with an aim to know and practically apply presented norms as standardised acoustic forms. However, considering the natural (not artificial) language and the real (not absolutely ideal) norm, under the exercises we give sociolinguistically oriented topics and tasks for discussion (sometimes also with references to specialist sources) with an aim to draw the listeners’ attention to the current state of live, phonically realised language, or to possible solutions that functionally correspond to the interests and needs of lanugage community and are not in contradiction with internal language rules at the same time. An explanation of particular orthopeic phenomena on the segmental level is closed not only with exercices and topics for discussion but also with a short test in which students can individually verify their special competences in connection to speech practise.

Proceedings of Extended Abstracts from Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference

Conference proceedings comprise extended abstracts from contributions that were presented during the conference Negative consequences of performing helping professions II – Psychological, social and health aspects of performing helping professions, which was held on 12th of June 2019 in Košice. The conference was organized as one of the outputs of the research project APVV 14-0921 Self-care as a factor of coping with the negative consequences of the practicizing the helping professions. Abstracts present either original research by the authors or summaries of the authors' findings in their long-term research activities focused on helping professions. One of the ambitions of the conference was to create a space for dialogue between academics and professionals working in helping professions. The interdisciplinary character of the conference has brought new ideas and perception of this issue, which has also been reflected in the rich response during the discussions. Professionals from field of psychology, social work, occupational medicine and behavioral medicine participated actively or passively in the conference. Thus, the enriching aspect of the resulting proceedings is the interconnection of applied and theoretical studies related to wide range of helping professions.

Social work with a group, along with social work with individuals, social work with the community and social work with society, is one of the basic methods used in the field of social work, but also in other helping professions. The work of a social worker requires knowledge of these methods but also of the techniques through which these methods are implemented and fulfilled. Understanding and acquiring individual methods for the needs of social practice requires the theoretical mastery of those institutes that are the basis of the method and the interrelationships between these institutes. Therefore, the author proceeded to elaborate a university textbook in which she focuses on one of the basic methods of social work, namely social work with a group.

The university textbook is designed for university students who are focused on social work studies, but also psychology, ethics and other disciplines using the method of working with a group, as it aims to present some facts about social groups and behaviour in them.

The author offers an insight into social work with the group from its historical foundations to today's latest knowledge of this method in accordance with the latest research of work with the group.

Téma rodovej rovnosti v univerzitnom a akademickom prostredí je v slovenskom kontexte stále vo veľmi ambivalentnej pozícii – často prehliadaná a marginalizovaná, inštrumentalizovaná a vnímaná ako cudzorodý prvok či formálna nevyhnutnosť, no snáď najčastejšie je vystavená mnohým nedorozumeniam a dezinterpretáciám. Zámerom predkladanej publikácie a jej autorského kolektívu je prispieť k formovaniu a kultivácii prostredia, v ktorom je možné vecne diskutovať o otázkach rodových vzťahov v akademickom prostredí, rozvíjať skúmanie z rodovej perspektívy, a najmä uskutočňovať politiku rodovej rovnosti ako jeden z nástrojov demokratizácie akademickej sféry a univerzity. Zborník vznikol v rámci realizácie projektu VVGS-2018-749 Tvorba Plánu pre rodovú rovnosť na UPJŠ v Košiciach a predstavuje rôzne kontexty a perspektívy, z ktorých možno o otázkach rodovej rovnosti na univerzite uvažovať. Jednotlivé autorky a autor sa vo svojich textoch sústreďujú na tému rodovej rovnosti z filozofického, filozoficko-právneho a právneho pohľadu. Záverečný text predstavuje zistenia kvalitatívneho skúmania, ktoré bolo súčasťou uvedeného projektu, ich interpretáciu a závery z perspektívy ďalšieho uskutočňovania politiky rodovej rovnosti na Univerzite Pavla Jozefa Šafárika v Košiciach. Publikáciu chápeme ako pozvanie k diskusii, kritickému premýšľaniu a skúmaniu, a tým k tvorbe univerzity, akou môžeme byť.

The presented monographic processing of the issues of groups, as a basic phenomenon of our social life, draws a lot of current knowledge from realized researches, their empirical results and practical work with the group, which offers a comprehensive view of the social group. Social group looks both as a natural part of human life and it is analyzed and studied, so that knowledge of the social group can be rewarded. This has been transferred to artificially created groups to help individuals through group work. At the same time, the monograph also considers the method of social work with a group as one of the methods used in various helping professions.

The integration of immigrants into society is currently of interest to many professionals and to the general public. Immigration is a consequence of a variety of factors, mainly due to political, social, economic or security conditions in the countries of origin. Immigration is subsequently linked to the process of integrating immigrants into the host country. The integration of immigrants into society or integration, as this process is called in the monograph, is a complex phenomenon that extends to many spheres of everyday life for the citizens of the receiving country, and at the same time is often difficult for immigrants. Many governmental and non-governmental organizations are involved in the process of social integration of immigrants, who develop different strategies and mechanisms to streamline the outcome of this process.

In relation to immigrants, the Slovak Republic is bound to provide social and legal protection and therefore it is necessary to deal with the issue of social services, which could potentially significantly contribute to their social integration into Slovak society. From the legislative point of view, however, these services are unified and do not take into account the differences of immigrants resulting from their culture, religion, social, ethical or other characteristics. That is why the monograph focuses on social integration of immigrants in Slovakia in the context of provided social services.

The monograph focuses on the issue of loneliness among substance-addicted people in the context of abstinence prospects and re/lapse prevention. In the monograph these phenomena, several theories were integrated and applied in the context of the ecosystem meta-framework of social work and practical contexts. The ecosystem meta-theory serves as a meta-construct with the ability to encompass the complexity of social phenomena as well as that of human beings within the structure of their living and social environment, formal and informal networks, and close intimate relationships. In this monograph are presented research sample consisted of 235 respondents – hospitalised addicts undergoing urgent treatment, abstaining A-club members as well as members of psychotherapy and self-help groups. The research showed that abstainers were statistically less lonely than the hospitalised respondents. Quantitative data of research are complemented by qualitative data collected in four case studies; two of them focused on two long-term abstainers from alcohol and drugs, while the other two case studies dealt with two respondents in post-hoc treatment undergoing the resocialization process. The research also showed that respondents who broke abstinence felt lonelier than their successfully abstaining counterparts. The results were supported also by the fact that a statistically significant inversely proportional relationship was identified between the duration of abstinence and loneliness rate. Gender differences were found between the hospitalised addicts in all loneliness dimensions. Naturally, the combined research was limited in certain aspects, mainly in terms of the size and proportional distribution of the research sample and its subgroups, test battery extent, and general nature of the population studied. Triangulation among quantitative and qualitative with the theoretical starting points confirmed the existence of a relationship among loneliness, addiction, and prospect of abstinence.

University textbook Selected Chapters from Managerial Ethics presents selected topics from the current issue of Managerial Ethics. The historical context of Managerial Ethics and its formation on the background of business ethics, up to the form of independent inter and trans discipline, is presented at the introduction. Being one of the subdisciplines of applied ethics, it is inherently normative and interdisciplinary. It represents an overlapping institutional aspect - management ethics and individual aspect - manager ethics. The issue of social responsibility in economics and business, or the moral profile of a manager as a key player of this applied ethics is mentioned. Institutionalization and implementation of ethics in corporate culture and the tools that are used in this so complex and interdisciplinary process are also a necessary step. Established ethical management systems, which complement the modularity of institutionalization, are also important. The main question is, of course, ethics in decision-making and management of people, as it is where ethical dilemmas and tensions are born. Also, the issue of ethics in leadership, as another qualitative and developmental stage in Managerial Ethics, is the contribution. The attached moral dilemmas are meant to reflect, self-test moral intelligence and to be resolved.

Every technical change is reflected in countless levels of our lives: environmental, economic, political, cultural and personal. The moral-philosophical reflection of technics and  technology aims to understand the complex relationships and effects of technology on the environment, society, culture and our existence. Knowledge (whose scientific knowledge is a special type) is part of the social and technical domains. If we perceive social and technical domains as separate, we deny their functioning as an integral part of our existence. Speaking of 'new ecology of technology and technology'  the term ecology symbolizes the new existing disorder and 'cross-border' in the field of technology and technology reflection as a result of their revolutionary and far-reaching changes, and social change is unpredictable - all the more because technics and technology is the medium of everyday life and determines the future of the human species.

Its aim is to make a short introduction into the field of philosophical anthropology and to educate the students in the most important topics of the discipline. The first activity was a scholarly and artistic symposium Science without barriers held in March 6 – 8, 2019 on the occassion of the 80^th birthday of Dr. h. c. prof. PhDr. Ján Sabol, DrSc. It brought extended abstracts of participants in two sections (Slovak studies and literary scholarship in interdisciplinary contexts) as its outcome. The next two parts describe artistically oriented events: Interpretational afternoon (a competition for the best interpretation of Ján Sabol´s book of verse Love in Blue) with the winning works added, and the vernissage Literature through an objective lens with the share of students of the School of Industrial Visual Arts in Košice.

Jazyková kultúra nielen pre lingvistov je odbornou publikáciou, vhodnou aj ako učebný text, v ktorom sa snažíme inovatívnym spôsobom opísať a vysvetliť najfrekventovanejšie javy z rečovej praxe. Ide o javy vypozorované nielen z mediálneho, ale aj z akademického prostredia, ktoré sa s ohľadom na komunikačnú sféru (masmediálna komunikácia, vedeckovýskumná oblasť) nekorektne používajú, a tým podprahovo prenikajú do jazykového vedomia všetkých používateľov jazyka. Teda aj tých, pre ktorých je jazyk pracovným nástrojom s primárne reprezentatívnou funkciou (učiteľov na všetkých stupňoch škôl či rozhlasových a televíznych pracovníkov).

Výklad jednotlivých javov (rozdelených do 6 blokov)1 podávame s prihliadnutím na jazykovú normu ako štandardizovanú podobu jazykového správania a tiež s prihliadnutím na cieľovú skupinu adresátov (nielen lingvistov). Explanáciu jazykového javu funkčne dopĺňame o kvalitatívne aj kvantitatívne zistenia vyplývajúce z databázy Slovenského národného korpusu. Pri každom z uvádzaných javov v závislosti od jeho charakteru (ortografický, lexikálny, morfologický, syntaktický) uplatňujeme diferencované postupy. Pri práci so Slovenským národným korpusom (predovšetkým v súbore písaných komunikátov) zámerne využívame viaceré nástroje, na pozadí ktorých jednotlivé javy v rámci príslušných kategórií exemplifikujeme a frekvenčne vyhodnocujeme. Predkladanou publikáciou ponúkame nielen odborný výklad javov, ale čiastočne a nepriamo aj metodické návody, ako účelne využiť Slovenský národný korpus. Zároveň aj lingvisticky neškoleným záujemcom o jazyk a jeho kultúru nekonvenčným, nazdávame sa, i didaktický prístupným objasňovaním a dokladovaním vyselektovaných príkladov z korpusu prezentujeme stále aktuálne problémové miesta súčasnej rečovej praxe.

Uvedomujeme si pritom dynamiku jazyka a rozličné sféry používania jazykových prostriedkov, ktoré posudzujeme v závislosti od komunikačných zámerov a charakteru celkovej komunikačnej situácie. Preto v snahe, aby táto publikácia nevyznievala príkro a mentorsky, predostierame uvádzané javy deskriptívno-explanačne vždy s odporúčaním na funkčne primeranú, jazykovo objasnenú alternatívu. Rovnako prihliadame na oblasť použitia výrazových prostriedkov (v písanej i hovorenej podobe), ako aj na konkrétneho používateľa jazyka a jeho poslanie. Na jeho posolstvo mediálne či vedecko-pedagogicky pôsobiť aj prostredníctvom jazykového prejavu, s dôrazom na jeho prirodzenú, komunikačne kultivovanú a normatívne korektnú podobu.

Druhé (doplnené a rozšírené) vydanie bilingválnej učebnice Rodový aspekt v slovenskej literatúre na prelome 19. a 20. storočia (Interpretačné etudy)/Gender Perspectives in Slovak Literature of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries (Interpretation Studies) ponúka širšiemu okruhu príjemcov – študentom učiteľstva akademických predmetov aj učiteľom v praxi – didaktickú transformáciu aktuálnej výskumnej problematiky (s podporou e-gramotnosti využitím online prístupov a QR kódov), ktorá vznikla v spolupráci so Školou úžitkového výtvarníctva v Košiciach (od roku 2019/20 s názvom Škola umeleckého priemyslu) v akademickom roku 2018/2019.

Odborná spolupráca v rámci projektu KEGA č. 008UPJŠ-4/ 2017 – Veda bez bariér (Interdisciplinárne inšpirácie súčasnej literárnej vedy a jazykovedy v edukačnej praxi na VŠ) s vyučujúcou slovenského jazyka a literatúry PaedDr. Janou Valicovou a vyučujúcou fotografického dizajnu Mgr. Renátou Novotnou Markovičovou zo ŠUP prebiehala v rámci projektového vyučovania. Priniesla výsledky v dvoch interdisciplinárnych výstupoch:

1. vytvorenie Literárneho salónika v študentskej kaviarni Minerva v areáli Filozofickej fakulty UPJŠ,

2. ilustrácie 2. vydania učebnice
