The university textbook is intended for students enrolled in the Chemical Laboratory Specialist study programme. The textbook presents basic laboratory equipment, glassware, tools, and balances. It explains the proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of laboratory glassware. It describes basic purification and separation methods, such as filtration, distillation, and extraction, and covers thin-layer chromatography and NMR spectroscopy. The practical section consists of ten laboratory experiments from various fields of chemistry, focusing on the preparation of substances, work with solutions, and basic analytical determinations. Students become familiar with titrations and the measurement of viscosity, pH, and density. The laboratory exercises also include water analysis, spectrophotometry, and work with biological material. Attention is also given to the isolation of substances from natural sources and their subsequent identification. Throughout the university textbook, theoretical knowledge is directly linked to practical laboratory procedures. The textbook supports the development of safe and technically correct working habits required for further study and professional practice.

This Book of Abstracts presents the scientific contributions of participants of the School of XFEL, Synchrotron and Neutron Radiation Users 2026 (SFEL 2026), held in Stará Lesná, Slovakia, from 28 September to 2 October 2026. Organized by Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with the European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility (European XFEL) in Hamburg and the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, SFEL 2026 continues a long-standing tradition of educational events dedicated to advanced photon and neutron research infrastructures. SFEL 2026 brings together 115 participants from 13 countries, with a particular focus on students, doctoral candidates, and early-career researchers. Through lectures delivered by leading international experts, oral and poster presentations, hands-on training activities, and a satellite meeting devoted to the European Solar Telescope project, the school promotes knowledge transfer, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of new scientific partnerships. As the ninth event of the SFEL series, SFEL 2026 further strengthens the links between Slovak researchers and major European facilities, including European XFEL, ILL, ESRF, DESY, and emerging ESFRI infrastructures.

The publication is intended for those interested in studying at UPJŠ in Košice, Faculty of Medicine in the field of general medicine and dentistry. The answers to the questions are solved in the form of offered variant answers containing both correct and incorrect options, while the correct answers are given in the key at the end of the publication. This publication will give you the opportunity to verify the depth and scope of your knowledge of biology, which you have acquired during your secondary school studies, and at the same time facilitate your preparation for successfully passing the entrance exam. The authors have divided the issue into chapters, which will allow you to quickly find your way around and find out which area you need to focus more on in your studies. The university textbook Didactics of Geography (not only) for the new curriculum responds to current curricular changes in geographical education in Slovakia and to the need to modernize the training of future geography teachers. Didactics of geography is an independent scientific discipline, the brief historical development of which is presented in the introductory chapter. The goals and content of geographical education in the context of school reforms are elaborated in subsequent chapters.

Special emphasis is placed on the development of geographical and geospatial thinking, inquiry-oriented teaching and STEM education. A significant part of the publication consists of chapters devoted to methods, organizational forms and teaching aids in geography.

This elektronic material provides practical guidance for determining the structure of organic compounds using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry (MS). The publication is intended primarily for single-discipline undergraduate and interdisciplinary undergraduate students in chemistry as a supplementary material for the course Methods of Structure Determination – Spectroscopic Methods. The text is divided into four parts: NMR, IR, MS, and exercises on combined structural analysis. Each section includes a brief theoretical introduction, practical tips for spectrum interpretation, solved examples, and especially unsolved exercises that allow students to practice analyzing real spectra. The material supports the development of analytical thinking and the ability to unambiguously determine the structure of unknown compounds. The publication was created as a teaching aid for seminars. Its goal is to help students effectively understand the combination of spectroscopic methods and their application in the structural analysis of organic compounds.

The publication Digiform: A Supporting Application to Digilib – User Guide, Part B presents the Digiform web application as a tool that extends the functionality of the Digilib digital library of formative assessment tools. The application enables the creation and editing of formative assessment tool templates, which can be adapted to the specificities of individual subjects and levels of education and subsequently imported into the Digilib environment for use in the teaching process. The guide provides a detailed description of how to work with the Digiform application, from creating new templates, editing and personalising them, through to their export and implementation in the main Digilib application. Attention is also given to the interconnection with the Digilib Images application, which enables the integration of visual elements into the assessment tools, thereby enhancing their didactic effectiveness and visual appeal. The guide is intended for teachers at all levels of education, student teachers, school administrators, and digital coordinators who are interested in the systematic use of the Digilib digital library to support the implementation of formative assessment, enhance the quality of the educational process, and foster the development of students’ self-assessment and reflective competences.

The EFFUSE Teacher's Guide is a practical educational material for primary and secondary school teachers who want to develop environmental awareness with their pupils through field-based learning. It is based on the concept of the EFFUSE project (‘Environment for the future by science education’), which aims to link science, research and education with environmental protection. The manual provides teachers with methodological support for planning and implementing outdoor activities aimed at observing and documenting organisms around the Laborec River and the Uh River. It contains instructions for working with real samples, basic biomonitoring procedures and offers the opportunity to participate in the creation of a virtual laboratory that mirrors the state of the local aquatic ecosystem. Through these activities, pupils will learn to understand the links between human activity and the state of the environment, while learning the basics of how scientists work in the fields of biology and ecology. The guide also motivates teachers to become agents of positive change, inspire the younger generation to be active and engage the community in conservation. It is a challenge and an opportunity to create a space for meaningful learning in line with current trends in environmental and digital education.

The handbook was developed within the EFFUSE project (‘Environment for the future by science education’) and motivates young people to take a greater interest in the nature around them. It focuses on practical field activities during which they will explore the ecosystem of the Laborec and Uh rivers, observe and document organisms and work with real samples from nature. At the same time, they will learn about the work of scientists - botanists, zoologists and microbiologists - and learn basic biomonitoring methods. The manual will also guide them through the process of creating a virtual laboratory to display the results of their investigations of an aquatic ecosystem. It will help them understand the importance of sustainable development and encourage them to behave responsibly towards nature. It is their opportunity to learn about their surroundings in a new way, to learn to think scientifically and to become active creators of positive change for their community and future generations.
