Psychology is becoming increasingly important in people's lives. It is significant to research human behaviour and how people interact with their environment, as well as how they develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. A rising number of people have been both physically and mentally harmed in recent years as a result of cognitive, emotional, or behavioural disorders. It was determined that a study book on psychology for medical students was required. Presented study book Psychology in Medicine gives students a fundamental insight into patients´ behaviour in general, and demonstrates the role of psychology in relieving health concerns in particular. It includes topics of medical psychology and clinical psychology that are applied in health care. The chapters address the basic principles of human behaviour, communication between patients and physicians, personality psychology, psychodiagnostic techniques, psychotherapy treatment, abnormal psychology, dealing with stressful events and physical illnesses. The study textbook also emphasises the importance of good mental health and self-care in a doctor's practise. There is a hope that this book will provide both a source of information and inspiration for doctors and all health care professionals.

Proceedings of Papers of XVIth year of the student symposium of the Institute of International Law and European Law is devoted to selected aspects of the place and role of criminal law from the point of view of contemporary EU law and international law. In their contributions, students deal with current topics of criminal law in the law of the European Union and international law. In the EU law, the most actual issue is the European Public Prosecutor's Office, a body of the EU responsible for investigateing and prosecuting criminal offenses affecting the Union's financial interests. The first part of papers dealt with the reasons for the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, its structure and tasks, the issue of conducting the investigation of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in the conditions of the Slovak Republic, as well as with the relations of the European Public Prosecutor's Office with its closest partner, the European Anti-Fraud Office. The second part of the contributions reflects current issues and challenges of criminal law in international law. Authors in their papers focused on the issue of the International Criminal Tribunal for Ukraine, the legal problems and challenges associated with its creation, on the issue of the crime of aggression before the International Criminal Court, as well as on issues of immunity of state representatives before national courts.

The textbook "Heart surgery for medics" was created in response to repeated requests from students of the Faculty of Medicine P.J.Šafárik University, for the surgery state exam study material. In terms of content, the text corresponds to the required knowledges in cardiac surgery, needed to pass the state exam in surgery. Orientation in the issue of cardiac surgery is not only necessary for students whose specialization will be closely related to the given field. Basic knowledge of cardiac surgery is necessary for every medical faculty graduate. Knowing the treatment options, but also the possible complications of individual cardiac surgical procedures, is necessary for most medical specialties. Only by mastering the basics of each medical field can the patient be properly, adequately and modernly managed.

The 48th Conference of the Middle European Cooperation in Statistical Physics (MECO48) will be held on May 22nd-26th, 2023, in Stará Lesná, High Tatras, Slovakia. An integral part of the process of becoming a teacher is the mentoring of student teachers by mentor teachers, serving as guidance and support for future teachers. Developing mentoring skills and fostering reflective mentoring practices are means of enhancing the practical training of student teachers, their professional development, and improving the quality of their future educational practice. The foundation of the mentoring relationship between the mentor teacher as a mentor and the student teacher as a mentee is not to evaluate the student, but to analyse their learning and teaching and contemplate ways to enhance these processes. The university textbook represents a creative textual tool focused on innovations in strategies for supporting the development of mentoring abilities in mentors and mentees during professional practical training. This university textbook, intended for student teachers in the role of mentees and mentor teachers in the role of mentors, systematizes the theoretical foundations of mentoring, provides guidance and directives for mentoring in professional practical training. Collection of contributions from 8th annual conference of the international doctoral conference "Theory and Practice of Public Administration", which took place on February 17, 2023 online through Microsoft Teams under the auspices of the Faculty of Public Administration of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. The conference was attended by 32 doctoral students from the Slovak Republic, Ukraine, and African countries. The conference allowed the participants to present the results of their scientific research activities in the field of public administration. The conference participants were divided into 4 sections according to the topic of their contribution. In the political science section, the participants presented contributions thematically focused, for example, on the solution of green issues in the Slovak Republic or the influence of the political culture of the inhabitants of the Slovak-Ukrainian border on local and regional political processes. The social section provided a space for presenting contributions and discussing, for example, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on marginalized groups in the Slovak Republic. In the economic section, participants presented contributions from, for example, the field of waste management or the impact of employing foreigners on the economy of the Slovak Republic. The legal sections dealt with, for example, the topic of current changes in public procurement, the activities of VÚC councils or the protection of personal data of minors in the online space.

Predložená publikácia ponúka prierez problematikou účtovníctva a svojim obsahom je orientovaná na vedenie účtovníctva v rozpočtových organizáciách zriadených obcou a vyšším územným celkom. V úvode poukazuje na základné princípy vedenia účtovníctva a potrebu harmonizácie. Následne sa zameriava na špecifiká financovania v samosprávnych rozpočtových organizáciách a ich účtovné vyjadrenie. Ďalšie časti sú venované jednotlivým účtovým triedam, kde sa vymedzujú základné pojmy a vysvetľujú zápisy vybraných účtovných prípadov. Poslednú časť tvorí účtovná uzávierka, ktorá vymedzuje činnosti spojené s uzatváraním účtovného obdobia a poukazuje na proces zostavenia účtovnej závierky. Rozpočtové organizácie patria k subjektom verejnej správy, ktoré zostavujú iba individuálnu účtovnú závierku, ktorá ale vstupuje do konsolidovanej účtovnej závierky ich zriaďovateľa. Odvíjajúc sa od toho sú záverečné podkapitoly venované aj stručnému vysvetleniu podstaty konsolidácie, potreby auditu a spôsobu zverejňovania údajov z účtovných závierok.

Projekt bol riešený v období 1.1.2021 – 30.6.2023 a bol podporený sumou 1 916 004,79 EUR. Spolupodieľali sa na ňom tri spoluriešiteľské organizácie: Univerzita Pavla Jozefa Šafárika v Košiciach ako hlavný riešiteľ, Univerzita veterinárskeho lekárstva a farmácie v Košiciach ako partner č. 1 a Ústav experimentálnej fyziky Slovenskej akadémie vied ako partner č. 2.

The theme of the conference proceedings is the issue of sources, their interpretation and use of current digital technologies in their research and access. The proceedings constit of 7 papers by authors working in Slovak and Czech universities. The digitisation of seals is the subject of the paper by Barbora Borůvková. Michael Dudzik deals with the problem of building the road network in modern France and written and cartographic sources. Trends of digitization in Slovak archives and their perception by researchers are elaborated by in Miriama Fialkovičová´s study. Miriama Filčáková dealt with sources on the history of tertiary education in Košice in connection with the establishment of the UPJŠ. The possibilities of researching sources on the electrification of Slovakia are dealt with in the study by Dominik Hrtus. Ondrej Šály in his paper treated the letters of serfs in the 18th century as a source for economic history. Vavrinec Žeňuch discusses the possibilities of researching the eclesiastical history of the Uh county in the modern period.

Štúdia nám už niekoľko rokov poskytuje kľúčové poznatky k lepšiemu pochopeniu správania našich mladých ľudí v súvislosti so zdravím. Skúma množstvo tém súvisiacich so zdravím, ako je spánok, duševná pohoda, nutričné správanie či fyzická aktivita. Dôležitou oblasťou skúmania je aj škola a sociálne vzťahy v nej, rodina a rodinné zázemie, či vzťahy s rovesníkmi.

Zistenia prehlbujú porozumenie mechanizmom ovplyvňujúcim rozdiely a zmeny v zdraví a rizikovom správaní mladých ľudí a sú kľúčom k tvorbe efektívnych programov podpory zdravia a so zdravím súvisiaceho správania, vzdelávacích programov v tejto oblasti, k sledovaniu ich účinnosti, a to nielen na národnej, ale i na medzinárodnej úrovni. Zistené poznatky sú dôležité pre lepšie pochopenie potrieb školákov a prispôsobenie služieb a systémovej podpory tak, aby boli tieto potreby v čo najvyššej možnej miere zohľadňované v súčasnom rýchlo meniacom sa svete.

Štúdia nám môže napomôcť porozumieť vplyvom pandémie COVID-19 na kvalitu duševného i fyzického zdravia. Pandémia a s ňou súvisiace epidemiologické a hygienické opatrenia za účelom obmedzenia šírenia vírusu znamenali významné obmedzenia v každodennom živote ľudí vo všetkých vekových kategóriách – vrátane detí a adolescentov. Štandardný výchovno-vzdelávací proces, sociálny kontakt s rovesníkmi, krúžková činnosť a ďalšie záujmové aktivity v škole i mimo nej boli výrazne narušené, čo výrazne ovplyvnilo prežívanie školákov.

The monograph is devoted to social support, set in the adolescent's environment. Social support can also be described as relational support from the environment in which the individual lives, and thus increases his resistance to stress and the desire to overcome life's failures and crises. It is for this reason that social support was also defined in the context of social-ecological theory. An innovation in the relationship with social support was the "Push-pull" theory, oriented to the individual's motivation. The defining anchoring of social support was built on its most famous theories. However, the greatest attention was focused on the possibilities of measuring social support, because its multidimensional measurement is necessary to determine the mechanism by which it works. The monograph therefore offered the author's validation processing and verification of psychometric properties of two separate methodologies Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) - (Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet, Farley 1988) and Social Support Survey (MOS) - (Sherbourne, Stewart 1991). The monograph results in two validation-verified separate methodologies for measuring types and sources of social support, which are reliable for use in a group of Slovak adolescents (MOS-SK and MSPSS-SK).

It is structured into 13 chapters concerning several topics: general and physical chemistry, organic chemistry, chemistry of natural substances (static biochemistry), enzymology and oxidative stress. Individual chapters provide comprehensible explanation of the fundamentals of physico-chemical, chemical and biochemical relationships applying in living systems as well as the knowledge of the structure of biologically important molecules (simple molecules and macromolecules) related to their properties and biological function.

In the environment of Slovak employers, an active approach to diversity and inclusion in the workplace is coming to the fore. Targeted diversity and inclusion programs help make employers more attractive on the labor market and attract more job seekers. Proactively, better working conditions are created for employees with responsibilities to the family (in most cases still in relation to mothers), groups of people who have been on the fringes of interest until now are also employed (elderly, disabled, LGBT groups, minorities, graduates of secondary and higher education schools). The presented collection of abstracts responds to the outlined facts, which is a grouping of the starting motives and conclusions of the contributions presented at the scientific conference Diverse and inclusive workplaces - legislative starting points organized by the department of labor law and social security law of the Faculty of Law of the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, which took place on September 29, 2023 in a hybrid form. With their abstracts, the authors point to a range of problematic areas that are not only a reflection of academic considerations, but also those legal questions that have to be dealt with in ordinary legal practice. The goal is to use analysis and explanation to define the existing labor law measures/tools applicable to the implementation of diversity and inclusion in the workplace according to the current Slovak legal framework and the EU legal framework and thus emphasize the starting point of any effort to build diversity and the implementation of inclusion in the workplace.

The conference was dedicated to the vision of social work, its methods, and techniques in the context of societal changes. With the changing times come new challenges to which social work must be prepared to respond. The central focus of the collection is the search for answers to pre-defined questions: "Is the current social work system adequately configured for current societal problems? Can social work promptly respond to new and unknown challenges? Are the known methods of social work effective in dealing with contemporary negative phenomena? Do we need additional methods? If so, what are they?" Individual contributions touch on theoretical concepts in the search for answers, but they also include empirically based contributions that reflect research results from various areas of society and problematic situations, with a view to providing recommendations for both the theory and practice of social work.
