This teaching guide for instructing students in Internet of Things programming using mathematical modeling and data analysis is intended for mathematics and computer science teachers in elementary and secondary schools, as well as for students training to teach these subjects. It responds to the requirements of the new curriculum reform in Slovakia, which emphasizes a cyclical learning process, the development of data, digital, and mathematical literacy, and the integration of teaching with real-world problems and technologies. The guide is designed in accordance with the methodological framework of design-based research. It contains technological and methodological foundations, as well as a set of proven teaching activities divided into three levels of difficulty. The teaching guide provides teachers with specific instructions, recommendations, and examples of best practices for the meaningful integration of IoT and mathematical modeling into teaching across different educational cycles, creating space for modern, interdisciplinary, and data-driven education.

The textbook entitled Selected Vascular Diseases is intended for medical students and physicians who specialize in internal medicine and angiology. Its goal is to present some lesser-known vascular diseases, or clinical conditions requiring rapid diagnosis. The text analyzes diseases occurring less frequently in clinical practice, such as aortitis, vascular malformations, peripheral arteriovenous malformations, pelvic venous diseases, and Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome. The textbook also addresses conditions that require rapid diagnosis, such as acute mesenteric ischemia and infectious aortitis. Within the scope of vasoneuroses, it describes Raynaud's phenomenon and childhood vascular diseases, such as hemangiomas. The text also touches on late complications associated with arteriovenous shunts in patients treated with hemodialysis.

Monovízia bola bežne používaná stratégia, ktorá na dosiahnutie videnia do diaľky a do blízkosti využívala neuroadaptáciu pomocou implantácie monofokálnych IOL. Dominantné oko sa zvyčajne zameriavalo na videnie do diaľky a nedominantné oko na videnie na blízko. Tradične sa úplné monovízne videnie zameriavalo na dosiahnutie zamýšľanej krátkozrakosti −2,5 D v nedominantnom oku.

Cieľom tejto vedeckej monografie bolo predstaviť vedeckej komunite novú, doteraz nepublikovanú metódu liečby. Hlavným cieľom bolo po obojstrannej plánovanej očnej operácii novou kombináciou IOL dosiahnuť optimálnu ZO a nezávislosť od okuliarov v každodenných bežných činnostiach.

Súhrnne, novinkou v našom prístupe, ktorý sme nazvali „rozšírená monovízia“, bolo použitie rotačne asymetrickej bifokálnej EDOF IOL s nízkou adíciou v nedominantnom oku a cieľovou refrakciou -1,25 D v kombinácii s monofokálnou asférickou IOL v dominantnom oku (cieľová refrakcia bola v tomto prípade emetropia).

The authors address the current view on the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes mellitus, while the following sections are devoted to classification, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and epidemiology of diabetes. The work provides insights into outpatient therapeutic management of patients by specialists and during hospitalisation for acute complications of diabetes, taking into account the latest recommendations from the last two years. Separate chapters are devoted to the management of associated and concomitant diseases, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, or complications of diabetes, including cardiovascular complications, neuropathy, nephropathy, and ocular complications. The work also discusses the issue of diabetes mellitus in pregnancy, including gestational diabetes mellitus. A special chapter, written by a co-author, is devoted to the issue of osteoporosis in patients with diabetes mellitus.

The symposium, entitled "Decision-making practice of judicial authorities in private law II," built on the success of the previous year and once again provided students with an opportunity to showcase their analytical skills and legal creativity. The symposium was prepared as part of the APVV-23-0331 scientific project "Integration of the Capital Markets Union: Changes in Corporate Financing and the Rescue of Commercial Companies in Financial Difficulties."

Slovakia has one of the highest mortality rates from preventable and treatable causes. The latest data also shows that within the EU, we have the highest mortality rate from cancer. A person's health is influenced by a combination of genetics, different life circumstances, and personal decisions. While we do not have control over all of these factors, proper eating habits, regular physical activity, and quality sleep can significantly contribute to preventing health problems and chronic diseases. However, many people face barriers such as financial constraints, work overload, or a lack of reliable information and knowledge. In Slovakia, almost half of the population cannot afford to purchase nutritious food, which makes the situation even more difficult. Bats represent a unique group of mammals, characterised by different life strategies. They are the only mammals capable of active flight, which, combined with their almost exclusively nocturnal activity, has led to the evolution of specific adaptations. One of the most striking is echolocation, which enables them to orientate themselves perfectly in their surroundings in the dark. Bats are mainly native to the tropics, but have also colonised areas outside the tropics, which, has led to a complex phenological cycle with active phases and interruptions during hibernation, especially in temperate zones. In this diverse and species-rich group (almost 1,500 known species), there is a wide range of social organisation as well as feeding and roosting strategies. The textbook "Fundamentals of Chiropterology" brings the current state of knowledge about these extraordinary animals in eleven chapters and two appendices for the first time in the Slovak language.

Vedecká monografia Kozmológia čarodejných príbehov (ľudová rozprávka medzi kultúrou a umením) je pôvodnou prácou syntetizujúcou výskum o kozmologických štruktúrach archaických epických žánrov v interdisciplinárnom dialógu medzi literárnou vedou a kultúrnou antropológiou. Výskumne sa sústredíme najmä na ľudovú čarodejnú rozprávku, ktorá sa vždy dotýka základnej ontologickej problematiky, vytvára modelový a poetizovaný obraz sveta; predstavuje neteistickú formu hrdinskej kozmológie, ukotvenú v gnómickom časopriestorovom rámci. Pri jej výskume kombinujeme synchrónnu systémovú interpretáciu semiotických rovín s diachrónnou analýzou vývoja kultúr. Z nášho výskumu vyplýva, že základné konflikty medzi symbolickými formami čarodejných príbehov, tak ako ich poznáme z folklórneho prostredia, vykryštalizovali v epoche šírenia sa prvých historických národov ako dôsledok konfrontácie odlišných kultúrnych komplexov.

The Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the case-law of the ECtHR represent a decisive legal instrument for the evolution of the right to a fair trial in the member states of the Council of Europe and the European Union, including the Slovak Republic, which affects the minimum level of procedural guarantees for individuals in judicial and administrative proceedings.

The primary purpose of the textbook is to fill the gap consisting in the absence of a comprehensive study text for undergraduate students at Pavol Jozef Šafarik University in Košice, Faculty of Law for the planned subject Right to a fair trial in administrative issues, and doctoral students at this faculty for the subject Protection of fundamental rights and freedoms in criminal matters according to the case-law of the ECtHR.

However, this textbook is also intended as a supplementary study aid for bachelor students in order to deepen their knowledge of the subject Administrative Law II, the result of which is to acquire knowledge about procedural administrative law in the Slovak Republic, as well as the subject of European Administrative Law, the result of which is the acquisition of knowledge about the influence of Council of Europe law on the national administrative law of the Slovak Republic.

This university textbook is the most extensive publication on the theory of public administration in Slovakia to date. In the introductory chapters, after clarifying the basic relations with other sciences, it gives an overview of what all the authors from Plato to today have dealt with, examining the subject from philosophical, theological, legal, economic, organizational, managerial, psychological, sociological and political science perspectives, and on the basis of which it is possible to formulate a demand for public administration to become legitimate, costeffective, flexible, comprehensible, open, participatory and democratic, and for its theory to be truly interdisciplinary. In the chapter on the actors of public administration, attention is paid not only to the state administration at all levels, but also to local, special interest and special interest selfgovernments, other public corporations and institutions and other actors of public administration, but also, in a framework, to providers of public services. The final chapter is devoted to public administration transformations and reforms. All the chapters are based on a rich factual literature, both domestic and foreign. The publication is supplemented by a list of references, containing more than 500 titles by domestic but mainly foreign authors. In this way, the textbook can be a welcome source of information and suggestions for the wider professional public.

The text summarizes the basic knowledge about the functioning of the soil ecosystem with a focus on soil protists and dominant groups of soil animals. Characteristics of each soil animal group include basic morphology, ecology, distribution, population dynamics and their importance in the soil ecosystem. The aim of the text is to gain a basic understanding of the diversity and interactions of soil fauna with the soil environment. It deals with the ecological classification of soil fauna on the basis of body size, presence in the soil during the life cycle, food preference and by locomotion. It highlights important morphological and ecophysiological adaptations of soil fauna to physical and chemical environmental factors. The text also gives an overview of the basic methods in the field collection of soil fauna and their extraction from soil samples under laboratory conditions. It further informs on the method of taxonomic identification and ecological evaluation of soil fauna communities. Discusses the soil fauna of different types of ecosystems. It highlights the differences in soil fauna communities that inhabit grassland and forest habitats, and agricultural soils. The first personal monograph, On the Lyrical Triptych of Maša Haľamová (Life and Work), by co-authors Ivica Hajdučeková and Iveta Bónová, presents the results of archival research and analytical-interpretative insights into the structure of poetic texts. Life events at key points (V znamení osmičiek, Domov na brehu jazera, V ruchu redakčnej práce, Fáza po Mladých letách) are reconstructed based on autobiographical memories, archival documents, personal correspondence, as well as unpublished or published articles and interviews. An intriguing perspective on the author´s work is offered by self-referential notes and a reconstruction of opinions on her poetics and the artistic value of her poetry from the years 1928 – 2017, as expressed by contemporary and modern literary critics. The reconstruction of the genesis of the poem Dar (Gift), which relates to her connections with A. Kostolný and E.B. Lukáč, revealed the underpinnings of poetic inspiration and confirmed the productivity of archival research and exegetical methods. The analytical-interpretative insight into lyrical triptych Dar – Červený mak – Smrť tvoju žijem, realized through a spectrum of differentiated spirituality and the method of hermeneutic reading with an emphasis on the function of polyvocality, demonstrated that meta-empirical reality is shaped through natural imagery and the function of allusion. Across the three poetry collections, the lyrical parable and the process of spiritualization or spiritual growth of the lyrical subject are depicted, emblemized by the red poppy, blooming limber pine, and flowering moss. In conjunction with the analysis of the rhythmic-melodic structure of free yet phonetically organized verse – utilizing not only the folkloric inspirations of folk songs and ballads but also the religious tradition of spiritual hymns, prayers, and psalms – which confirmed that the poet´s sense and sensitivity for the „colourfulness“ of sounds and the „melodiousness“ of tones contributed to the architectural formation of the final form. This form is inseparably infused with the meta-empirical dimension of spirituality (eisos – eidos – Logos).
