Medical biochemistry is integral parts of basic theoretic knowledge of contemporary graduate at medical faculties. This textbook intends to help the undergraduate students of study branches General Medicine and Dental Medicine for the course of “Medical Biochemistry”. It is structured into 10 chapters concerning several topics: enzymology, cells membrane, metabolism, biochemistry of blood and organs, as well as some parts of clinical biochemistry.

The theoretical knowledge of this subject, which student obtains in the lectures, is verified in laboratory practices and is expanded in seminaries. Our selection of topics makes the text especially appropriate for medical students and managing of problems gives the students satisfactory ground for effective study of medical biochemistry and other related study subjects (e.g. clinical biochemistry, physiology, pathophysiology) in the sense of comprehension of relative continuity and interdependence of biochemical process or their function respectively.

Since the textbook brings only the skeleton survey on the biochemical problematic concerning medicine, students should broaden presented facts by additional study from lectures and/or from other sources. We expect this study literature to serve as a basic study material for mentioned medical study branches for preparation to written part of exam from “Medical Biochemistry”.

Základem dobré diagnostiky a zdravotní péče o dítě je umění dítě řádně vyšetřit tak, aby nedošlo k přehlédnutí patologického jevu. Existují obecná pravidla vyšetření dítěte, nicméně existují i určité úkony a vyšetřovací metody specifické pro primární péči. Nová kniha se věnuje praktickému vyšetření dítěte, jejím přínosem je praktická a klinicky zaměřená orientace a bohatá obrazová dokumentace.
Kniha je doplněním teoretického základu učebnic pediatrie a učebnice Praktické dětské lékařství. Obsah je koncipován i jako užitečné připomenutí lékařům pracujícím s dětmi.
Publikace je určena především pro studenty medicíny a pro lékaře v postgraduální přípravě.

This scientific proceedings volume serves as the final joint publication output of essentially the entire research team of the aforementioned scientific project. It consists of contributions presented at the scientific seminar The Constitution of the Slovak Republic and Its Perspectives. Improving the Constitutional Text and Increasing the Authority of the Slovak Constitution – A Real Possibility or a Naive Illusion? held from November 23 to 25, 2022, at the training and educational facility of UPJŠ in Košice, Danišovce. The final form of the contributions emerged from the constructive scientific discourse that accompanied the entire course of this seminar.

The content of this scientific proceedings volume, which we offer not only to the broad (especially legal-political) professional public but also primarily to Slovak constitution makers, includes, alongside contributions from members of the research team and invited guests, the literary debut works of doctoral students from the organizing Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Faculty of Law of UPJŠ and the Department of Public Law Disciplines of the Faculty of Public Administration of UPJŠ in Košice. These works thematically correspond to the tasks addressed within the aforementioned scientific project “Constitutional Activity of the National Council of the Slovak Republic (Legal-Political Analysis – Evaluation – Perspectives).”

The scientific monograph focuses on the analysis of radical and extremist groups, movements, sects and cults and their activities in the Slovak Republic.

It provides a theoretical insight into the issues of specific organizations and movements that have been characterized in the past, or are currently characterized by belonging to ideologies that we might call anti-social.

It does not focus unilaterally on one type of violent extremism, but focuses on the issue of both right-wing and left-wing religious groups. In the final part it offers a brief suggestion of prevention procedures, which could significantly influence the increase of extremist manifestations especially in young people.

The International Scientific Conference on the topic Condition and perspectives of public finances in the EU was held 2nd – 3rd June 2022in Košice focused on the topics of the EU Budget and Real Estate in taxation. On this occasion, a student symposium on the topic: "Condition and perspectives of financial law and tax law" was organized for students of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University Faculty of Law in Košice on 1st June 2022. The focus of the symposium was chosen due to the content of the grant project VEGA no. 1/0485/21: „Simultaneity and possibilities of reforming the system of own resources of the EU budget (legal and economic aspects also in the context of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic)“, of the grant project VEGA no. 1/0214/21: „Taxation of real property – legal status and potential“ and of the grant project APVV-19-0124 entitled "Tax law and new phenomena in the economy (digital services, shared economy, virtual currencies)", which are currently being addressed at the Department of Financial Law, Tax Law and Economy, Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.

The output of this symposium is a reviewed proceeding of papers, in which students focus on examining the current challenges of financial law and tax law. In this context, students examine not only the issue of current challenges in the field of real estate tax and the introduction of taxation based on their market value of real estate and the institute of remedies in tax procedural law, but also the current issue of EU budget law with a focus on the revenue side of the EU budget.

The authors also assess in detail the current situation in the research area, and they also present de lege ferenda proposals that could contribute to the development and improvement of several aspects of taxation, which is a benefit not only for legal science but also for application practice.

Clinical Biochemistry - selected chapters - MEFANET >>> 

After 7 years, we finally reworked the textbook on the subject of clinical biochemistry at UPJŠ FM in Košice. We have innovated information in accordance with recommendations of professional medical societies and added new chapters. As the scope of the subject is limited, the textbook does not cover all issues of biochemical diagnostics. It focuses on disorders of water-ion and acid-base balance disorders, and basic laboratory diagnostics of diseases of selected organs.

The textbook of clinical biochemistry has the ambition to become a practical aid for senior medical students and beginning doctors in the study of laboratory medicine. It should make it easier for them to orientate themselves in routinely used clinical-biochemical examinations and could form a springboard for a more detailed studying of laboratory methods and their use in diagnostic and monitoring algorithms.
Like any medical discipline, clinical biochemistry is evolving rapidly and gradually integrating with other areas of laboratory medicine. New diagnostic methods penetrate deeper into the essence of the biochemical mechanisms of the human body, and "omic" methods are gaining ground. It is almost sure that in a few years, laboratory examination looks quite different from today. If this publication quite hypothetically reaches its next edition, many chapters will need to updated, and new chapters written following the up-to-date status.

Publikace v kontextu evropské filozofické tradice nabízí orientaci v důležitých tématech obou souvisejících oborů. Publikace je věnována propojení filozofie (etiky), práva a vědeckého poznání s klinickou praxí pediatrie a neonatologie.

Obecné kapitoly definují základní principy bioetiky, základní pojmy a směry etiky. Vybrané praktické kapitoly řeší klinické a psychosociální otazníky pediatrie a neonatologie. Velká část praktického oddílu knihy je věnována etice paliativní péče v dětském věku a neonatologii. Zamýšlí se nad hranicí viability, intenzivní, vývojovou a následnou péčí v neonatologii, řeší problematiku bolesti, umírání, (ne)zahájení a ukončení život udržující léčby. Součástí je doprovázení rodiny dítěte s život limitující diagnózou, terminální fází onemocnění a na konci života. Zmíněny jsou i zdánlivě okrajové oblasti, jako je etika výzkumu, psychologie, genetika, výživa dětského věku, právo na kojení a výživu mlékem matky. Zmiňuje také právní a etickou problematiku babyboxů, náhradního mateřství, císařských řezů na přání, problematiku očkování. Pozornost je věnována dospívajícím.

Rozsáhlý oddíl je pak věnován eticko-právním souvislostem. Tématy jsou koncept nejlepšího zájmu dítěte, ochrana práv dítěte, zástupné rozhodování, informovaný souhlas v pediatrii a etické souvislosti péče o děti z jiného kulturního prostředí, vlivu medií na formování zdraví dítěte. Samostatná kapitola je věnovaná týmové práci.

Monografie je určena zdravotníkům (lékaři i sestry) v oboru pediatrie, neonatologie a paliativní péče. Může být přínosem studentům, kteří směřují k oboru pediatrie, pečujícím zdravotně-sociálního pomezí v pediatrii.

Monografie je zaměřena na zdravotní gramotnost v kontextu ošetřovatelství. Význam zdravotní gramotnosti stoupá, a nutnost její podpory se tak dostává výrazně do popředí.

Zdravotní gramotnosti je na našem knižním trhu věnován poměrně malý prostor. Hlavní autorka a spoluautorky předkládané publikace řeší projekt KEGA se zaměřením na implementaci prvků podpory zdravotní gramotnosti dospělé populace do vzdělávání v oboru ošetřovatelství. Jedním z výstupů uvedeného projektu je i předkládaná monografie.

Publikace přináší charakteristiku zdravotní gramotnosti, poukazuje na její význam, model, dimenze i determinanty. Zabývá se také nástroji k posuzování zdravotní gramotnosti a specifickými aspekty tohoto typu gramotnosti v různých cílových skupinách.

V kontextu pozice sestry v podpoře zdravotní gramotnosti je rozpracována edukační činnost, komunikace, osobní příklad a vliv prostředí, jakož i využití informačně-komunikačních technologií v podpoře zdravotní gramotnosti. Součástí kapitoly je i zdravotní gramotnost jako součást ošetřovatelského vzdělávání.
 
Teoretická východiska jsou doplněna o kapitolu, ve které jsou prezentovány výsledky výzkumu zaměřeného na úroveň zdravotní gramotnosti u pacientů s arteriální hypertenzí.
 
Tato vysoce odborná publikace je určena studentům ošetřovatelství v bakalářském, magisterském i doktorském stupni studia, dále sestrám v praxi a také odborníkům jiných profesí, kteří se zabývají problematikou zdravotní gramotnosti u laické veřejnosti.

“Pathology Part 2 (summer semester) - Practical lessons for students of dental medicine” represents the second half of the university textbook designed for the pregradual study of pathology. The textbook complements the lectures of pathology and serves as a source of information for students of dental medicine, that are preparing for the practical credit, as well as the final oral examination.

In this part of the “Pathology” series, forty-four selected histopathological slides are presented. Each selected slide is provided with general information in relation to etiology and pathogenesis of the disease, as well as with corresponding morphological features, including the gross appearance and the most important histopathological characteristics. The textbook summarizes the basic concepts of systemic pathology (pathology of the heart, vessels, lungs, gastrointestinal, urogenital system, breast, musculoskeletal, nervous system, skin and infancy) and pathology of the orofacial region, that is logical continuation and completion of general pathology in the first semester.

Autorky kladou důraz na bezpečnou, efektivní a kvalitně poskytovanou ošetřovatelskou péči se zaměřením na zachování postupů lege artis, komunikaci a především lidskost.

Kniha je doplněna mnoha fotografiemi pocházejícími z bohaté praxe autorek. Při výběru témat bylo vycházeno z aktuálně platných kompetencí zdravotnických záchranářů. Obsahem jsou též fotografické postupy, které jsou studenty v praxi dobře vnímány.
