The textbook entitled Political Systems of the BRICS States is published as an output of the KEGA 014UPJŠ-4/2020 Innovative Model of Education Leading to Active Citizenship as a Prevention of the Rise of Political Extremism among Students. The aim of the given publication is to present the basic principles of the political systems of the BRICS bloc states and to provide the reader with the nature and character of the bloc's functioning.

The textbook consists of an introduction and five further chapters. All sections are written in Slovak. The individual chapters focus primarily on characterizing the historical development of the BRICS states, the evolution of their constitutionalism, public administration, and on defining the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of power

The individual chapters describe the political systems of the states: Brazil, the Russian Federation, India, China, and South Africa. The introductory chapter of the textbook contains the characteristics of the development and formation of the bloc, as well as information on the cooperation among the BRICS members.

Téma duševního zdraví se stává stále důležitějším ve veřejné diskusi a povědomí s ohledem na zvyšující se tlak moderního života, zvýšenou frekvenci psychických poruch a důsledky globálních událostí.
Ošetřovatelství zaměřené na duševní zdraví je speciální oblast zdravotnické péče, která se zabývá poskytováním ošetřovatelské péče a podpory pro jednotlivce trpící různými duševními poruchami a problémy se zdravím. Obor se zabývá nejen léčbou symptomů, ale také poskytováním komplexní péče, která zahrnuje psychologickou podporu, rehabilitaci a pomoc při zvládání každodenních nároků.

Publikace přináší přehled nejdůležitějších psychiatrických diagnóz staršího věku, jejich etiopatogenezi, klinický obraz a možnosti léčby včetně možností nefarmakologických intervencí.

Do textu jsou zařazeny i názorné kazuistiky. Zmíněna je problematika rizikových či nevhodných léčiv. Mezi kapitoly je zařazeno téma neuropsychologického testování pacientů staršího věku i otázky z okruhu forenzní psychiatrie.

Kniha je koncipována se záměrem usnadnit lékařům orientaci v neuropsychiatrické problematice pacientů vyššího věku.

Třetí publikace z řady o poskytování ošetřovatelské péče, která se vyučuje na školách se zdravotnickým zaměřením. První publikace se zabývala základním fyzikálním vyšetřením sestrou, druhá bariérovou ošetřovatelskou péčí. Tématem čtvrté pak bude hygienická péče, péče o lůžko a polohování pacienta. Jednotlivé publikace jsou zaměřeny vždy na konkrétní téma poskytované péče všeobecnou sestrou (praktickou sestrou, porodní asistentkou, zdravotnickým záchranářem a pracovníky dalších nelékařských oborů). Publikace zahrnují obecné informace i konkrétní ošetřovatelské činnosti. V této publikaci naleznou čtenáři témata: definice, zhodnocení výživového stavu pacienta – škály (MNA, BMI…), dietní systém, alternativní přístupy stravování, indikace k enterální výživě, příprava pacienta, pomůcky, provedení (včetně aplikace výživy do NSG, PEG/PEJ), sledování účinku, zhodnocení.Publikace má sloužit studentům a pedagogům a nelékařským zdravotnickým pracovníkům, kteří se dané problematice věnují.

The topic of our research task of the same name VEGA 1/0757/17 was based on the question – and was likewise defined in its approved project – how public administration as one of the providers of public services can act as efficiently as possible in favour of making these services available from the aspect (place of permanent residence) of the citizen.

This can be done with a certain optimality in the structure of public administration, primarily at the local, but also at the supra-local, e.g. regional, level. If, for example, the settlement structure is too disintegrated, or conversely the regional structure is too aggregated (or even too fragmented), various alternative solutions must be sought that are rational and optimal for satisfying citizens and that will not waste public resources.

In this, it is also questionable how the system of state administration authorities and local government authorities is reflected in this structure (in the case of known differences in their operation in both these regimes, or in a regime of delegated performance of state administration), including the conditions of funding these services as public services.

Vysokoškolský učebný text Chlopňové chyby je prvou slovenskou publikáciou, ktorá sa venuje využitiu simulátorovej medicíny vo výučbe auskultácie srdca. Cieľom publikácie bolo skvalitnenie štúdia vnútorného lekárstva využitím kardiologického simulátora, ktorým disponuje Centrum simulátorovej a virtuálnej medicíny (CSVM) na Lekárskej fakulte UPJŠ. Výučbový materiál môže poslúžiť nielen ako príprava k praktickým cvičeniam so simulátorom Cardiology Patient Simulator „K“ ver 2 (Kyoto Kagaku), ale aj ako užitočná pomôcka pre študentov počas praktických cvičení pri lôžku pacienta. Študenti v publikácii nájdu okrem detailného opisu auskultačných nálezov na jednotlivých chlopniach aj podrobne vysvetlenú ich klinickú manifestáciu u pacienta pri fyzikálnom vyšetrení. Samozrejmou súčasťou sú EKG a echokardiografické nálezy a v neposlednom rade aj možnosť manažmentu jednotlivých chlopňových chýb podľa najnovších odporúčaní Európskej kardiologickej spoločnosti. Využitie publikácie je pre študentov medicíny od internej propedeutiky (3. ročník) až po záverečné štátnicové skúšky.

The “Textbook of Practical Physiology, Part I - Cardiovascular Physiology” by Mária Pallayová and Štefan Kujaník is a practical textbook of Human Physiology intended for English speaking medical students from general medicine and dentistry curricula.

The textbook covers basic principles in cardiovascular physiology and methods of the cardiovascular examination. Adequate knowledge of the cardiovascular physiology is important for the understanding of cardiovascular system function, as well as for the diagnosis and proper treatment of cardiovascular and other diseases. The practical tasks are constructed to facilitate knowledge acquisition and encourage students to develop practical skills, for instance the ability to follow experimental protocols, to work as part of a team, and to interpret data.

The textbook is written in English and comprises 91 pages in B5 format, grouped into twelve chapters. Each chapter is divided into six sections (Introduction, Principle, Importance, Materials, Procedure, and Protocol) to facilitate students’ understanding of the topics and assist them with preparation of the laboratory reports. The text is accompanied by explanatory figures, graphs, and tables that contribute to the learning experience.

Publication called Scientific communication and management of research projects serves as background and teaching material. Its aim is to help university students and researchers develop competencies important for scientific work, such as scientific integrity, critical work with literary sources, management of research projects and scientific communication. Publication is divided into four parts.

The first part is focused on the preparation of a research project, where it is important to know the basic ethical principles applied in the research project, but also to be able to critically assess literary sources and process them. In the second part, it provides information on the preparation of research projects and their management, including their financing, from preparation and planning, through initialization to implementation, management, logistics, monitoring, evaluation and termination. The third part pays attention to the preparation, processing and presentation of scientific results in the form of a scientific article, presentation, poster or press release, thus covering not only a professional but also a lay audience.

The final fourth part provides information about communication with a scientific journal, whether it is the process of sending, revising an article up to its publication, or the process of assessing scientific work by scientific journal editors in the process of screening and peer review.

Violence in the workplace has been a problem that has received attention for fifty years. Client violence is one of its forms. These are cases where the aggressor is a person coming to an institution to use its services. Client violence affects all helping professions. This monograph deals with the specifics of client violence in social work.

In addition to theoretical outputs, it also offers research results conducted on a sample of 1170 respondents, frontline workers in selected entities providing services in the social field in Slovakia. The monograph represents a summary of three years of work by eight experts. Each author contributed within their area of expertise and brought a different perspective to the issue. The main aim was to bring a variety of views on the issue and attempt to combine them into a cohesive whole. Thus, a monograph was created that contains interesting theoretical foundations included in six theoretical chapters, starting with the introductory chapter on the position of client violence in the area of workplace violence.

The following chapters address the risk and riskiness of social work, ethical aspects, the personality of the social worker, and risk areas of social work. The research chapter presents the research project to the reader and three subchapters of findings processed in tables and described in detail.

The final part of the monograph deals with prevention and group work. An important part is also the appendices, which include a questionnaire battery, a program implemented for social work students, and a proposed program for workers in the social field.

It was first held in 1996 in Iasi (Romania) and since then has continued every two-three years in different European cities. The aim of the conference is to generate an overview of research in magnetic sensors and actuators, to recognize their relevance in modern industry and to identify potential future collaborations. The following material has been created during the two years of teaching English for Chemists at the Faculty of Science of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University and is therefore designed to meet the needs of this course. The main motivation was the lack of appropriate materials, especially as the groups generally comprise students with a very diverse level of English. This diversity therefore became the main criterion determining both the form and the content of this text.

In the ten units that provide material for a one semester course, the emphasis is put on teaching the students vocabulary and terminology, which is introduced via authentic texts, depending on the topic of each unit. Students are encouraged to learn the meaning of new words in context. Grammar is included too, with the aim of demonstrating and explaining grammatical rules by means of examples taken directly from the texts. For the more advanced students, grammatical exercises in this material can serve for revision while the beginners might need more supplementary materials.

I hope that this material, the preparation of which has been a challenging as well as enjoyable experience will be useful for future teachers and the students of this course.

„Patológia 2. časť (letný semester) - Praktické cvičenia pre študentov všeobecného lekárstva“ je druhou časťou vysokoškolskej učebnice predstavujúcou druhú polovicu výučby (letný semester). V tejto časti je popísaných 70 diagnóz, kde každej je venovaná jedna strana. V popise je uvedené poradové číslo zhodujúce sa s číslom preparátu a názov danej diagnózy. Študent sa pri každom preparáte oboznámi so základnými informáciami o danej chorobe, jej makroskopickým a mikroskopickým obrazom. Navyše je vytvorené miesto, v ktorom si študent môže zaznačiť (nakresliť) charakteristický mikroskopický obraz danej choroby. Preparáty v tejto učebnici sú zamerané na špeciálnu patológiu – patológiu pľúc, hematopatológiu, patológiu gastrointestinálneho, urogenitálneho systému, prsníka, endokrinného, pohybového  a nervového systému, kože, novorodeneckého a detského veku.

Tým, že učebnica umožňuje preparáty zakresľovať, vytvára študentom priestor pre trvalejšie zapamätanie si danej problematiky. Je vynikajúcim zdrojom pre prípravu študentov na kolokvium a ústnu skúšku.

Kniha přináší komplexní pohled na problematiku dětské gastroenterologie, hepatologie a výživy a vychází z principů evidence based medicine a nejnovějších doporučených postupů. Editoři knihy u některých témat zvolili zajímavý multioborový přístup – téma je zpracováno z pohledu několika odborníků např. alergie na bílkovinu kravského mléka z pohledu gastroenterologa, alergologa a nutričního terapeuta. Kromě diagnóz, které jsou v pediatrické praxi časté, jsou zařazena i témata, která nejsou běžnou součástí pediatrických publikací, např. problematika střevní tuberkulózy, projevy HIV infekce v gastrointestinálním traktu, nežádoucí účinky nejčastěji užívaných léků v dětské gastroenterologii a hepatologii, ale také i vliv běžně užívaných léků v pediatrii na gastrointestinální trakt. Součástí knihy je i kapitola věnující se problematice zobrazovacích metod, běžně užívaných v dětské gastroenterologii a hepatologii, vč. MRI pánevního dna, MR enterografie, MRCP apod. Kniha obsahuje mnoho přehledných tabulek, grafů a bohatou fotografickou dokumentaci, zejména z endoskopických a zobrazovacích vyšetření.
Cílovou skupinou jsou pediatři, kliničtí i praktičtí lékaři pro děti a dorost, dětští gastroenterologové, lékaři v postgraduální přípravě, ale i medici vyšších ročníků.
