This teaching guide for instructing students in Internet of Things programming using mathematical modeling and data analysis is intended for mathematics and computer science teachers in elementary and secondary schools, as well as for students training to teach these subjects. It responds to the requirements of the new curriculum reform in Slovakia, which emphasizes a cyclical learning process, the development of data, digital, and mathematical literacy, and the integration of teaching with real-world problems and technologies. The guide is designed in accordance with the methodological framework of design-based research. It contains technological and methodological foundations, as well as a set of proven teaching activities divided into three levels of difficulty. The teaching guide provides teachers with specific instructions, recommendations, and examples of best practices for the meaningful integration of IoT and mathematical modeling into teaching across different educational cycles, creating space for modern, interdisciplinary, and data-driven education.

This conference textbook is published as the output of the 13th annual Student Scientific Conference held in December 2025. The Student Scientific Conference is a selective course included in the curricula of the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (FF UPJŠ), which has been organized since 2011. Its primary objective is to provide a platform for Bachelor’s and Master’s students to present fragments of their primary research conducted during the preparation of their final theses. The aim of these proceedings is not only to publish these thematically diverse texts but also to demonstrate a commitment to above-standard pedagogical activities and to provide benefit to university studies. This is reflected, on the one hand, in the form of a published output and, on the other, in the motivation it provides for students to actively participate in the event. This year's volume contains twelve texts with a chronological scope ranging from Antiquity to 20th-century history. Thematically, it covers a broad spectrum, from political and economic to cultural history. A specific feature of this volume is the inclusion of four international papers by students from the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and Charles University in Prague. Their participation in the conference is the result of established cooperation based on the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), which took place in Košice from October 13 to October 17, 2025.

This collection of scientific papers is a direct output of the 2nd Czechoslovak Symposium titled "AI in Administrative Law: ROBOT – GOOD SERVANT, BAD MASTER," held on October 2nd and 3rd, 2025, in the Tokaj region. The symposium was organized as part of the research project VEGA no. 1/0062/25, entitled "Automation of Decision-Making Processes in Public Administration".This proceeding provide a comprehensive presentation and professional confrontation of knowledge regarding the use of artificial intelligence within decision-making processes in public administration, at both the national and European levels.

Individual contributions examine the theoretical limits of national regulations, as well as practical impacts in sectoral areas, such as the digitalization of the labor market, alternative resolution of administrative disputes, prevention of illegal content, and the specific issue of liability for null and void decisions issued by artificial intelligence systems. The ultimate goal of these contributions is formulation of legislative recommendations aimed at streamlining administrative proceedings in the Slovak Republic, while simultaneously respecting the principles of the rule of law and the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms.

Special attention is given to data, which represent a key component of LIS, including an overview of the most important geospatial data products in Slovakia. The publication provides a systematic overview of the core models of systemic therapy and its theoretical as well as practical foundations. The opening chapters of the textbook outline the historical development of psychotherapeutic approaches and the shift toward the systemic paradigm, which emphasizes the importance of relationships, context, and circularity in understanding psychological phenomena.

The core of the text focuses on the philosophical foundations of systemic therapy, particularly general systems theory, cybernetics, constructivism, and social constructionism, all of which have significantly shaped the understanding of reality, knowledge, and the therapeutic process. Subsequent chapters address biological and social foundations, including the concepts of autopoiesis, cognition, and communication, and their relevance to the functioning of social systems. The publication further elaborates on the practical implications of these theoretical frameworks, especially in relation to causality, language, and the construction of social reality. In the context of nursing, it plays an irreplaceable role in the prevention of pressure ulcers, contractures, muscle atrophy, and respiratory problems. Cooperation between physiotherapists and nurses enables effective planning and implementation of interventions aimed at supporting patient mobility.  The text highlights the need for close interdisciplinary collaboration among nurses, physiotherapists, and other members of the healthcare team. Physiotherapy in nursing is presented as a process that goes beyond exercise alone—it includes patient and family education, motivation support, training in activities of daily living, and thorough assessment of functional status.

The textbook entitled Selected Vascular Diseases is intended for medical students and physicians who specialize in internal medicine and angiology. Its goal is to present some lesser-known vascular diseases, or clinical conditions requiring rapid diagnosis. The text analyzes diseases occurring less frequently in clinical practice, such as aortitis, vascular malformations, peripheral arteriovenous malformations, pelvic venous diseases, and Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome. The textbook also addresses conditions that require rapid diagnosis, such as acute mesenteric ischemia and infectious aortitis. Within the scope of vasoneuroses, it describes Raynaud's phenomenon and childhood vascular diseases, such as hemangiomas. The text also touches on late complications associated with arteriovenous shunts in patients treated with hemodialysis.

This elektronic material provides practical guidance for determining the structure of organic compounds using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry (MS). The publication is intended primarily for single-discipline undergraduate and interdisciplinary undergraduate students in chemistry as a supplementary material for the course Methods of Structure Determination – Spectroscopic Methods. The text is divided into four parts: NMR, IR, MS, and exercises on combined structural analysis. Each section includes a brief theoretical introduction, practical tips for spectrum interpretation, solved examples, and especially unsolved exercises that allow students to practice analyzing real spectra. The material supports the development of analytical thinking and the ability to unambiguously determine the structure of unknown compounds. The publication was created as a teaching aid for seminars. Its goal is to help students effectively understand the combination of spectroscopic methods and their application in the structural analysis of organic compounds.

Monovízia bola bežne používaná stratégia, ktorá na dosiahnutie videnia do diaľky a do blízkosti využívala neuroadaptáciu pomocou implantácie monofokálnych IOL. Dominantné oko sa zvyčajne zameriavalo na videnie do diaľky a nedominantné oko na videnie na blízko. Tradične sa úplné monovízne videnie zameriavalo na dosiahnutie zamýšľanej krátkozrakosti −2,5 D v nedominantnom oku.

Cieľom tejto vedeckej monografie bolo predstaviť vedeckej komunite novú, doteraz nepublikovanú metódu liečby. Hlavným cieľom bolo po obojstrannej plánovanej očnej operácii novou kombináciou IOL dosiahnuť optimálnu ZO a nezávislosť od okuliarov v každodenných bežných činnostiach.

Súhrnne, novinkou v našom prístupe, ktorý sme nazvali „rozšírená monovízia“, bolo použitie rotačne asymetrickej bifokálnej EDOF IOL s nízkou adíciou v nedominantnom oku a cieľovou refrakciou -1,25 D v kombinácii s monofokálnou asférickou IOL v dominantnom oku (cieľová refrakcia bola v tomto prípade emetropia).

The authors address the current view on the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes mellitus, while the following sections are devoted to classification, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and epidemiology of diabetes. The work provides insights into outpatient therapeutic management of patients by specialists and during hospitalisation for acute complications of diabetes, taking into account the latest recommendations from the last two years. Separate chapters are devoted to the management of associated and concomitant diseases, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, or complications of diabetes, including cardiovascular complications, neuropathy, nephropathy, and ocular complications. The work also discusses the issue of diabetes mellitus in pregnancy, including gestational diabetes mellitus. A special chapter, written by a co-author, is devoted to the issue of osteoporosis in patients with diabetes mellitus.

This peer-reviewed non-conference proceedings volume was prepared as part of the research project VVGS-2024-3421 “Modernisation and Rationalisation of Local Government through AI” and is thematically linked to the Slovak Week of Science and Technology focused on living with artificial intelligence. The volume includes 17 scholarly contributions primarily addressing the application of artificial intelligence in public administration, innovations in governance methods, and modern approaches to public sector management. The authors explore the use of AI in administrative digitalisation, decision-support systems, sectoral public policies, and the enhancement of local government efficiency.

Special attention is paid to legal, social, and ethical aspects of AI implementation, as well as its impact on public trust in institutions. The symposium, entitled "Decision-making practice of judicial authorities in private law II," built on the success of the previous year and once again provided students with an opportunity to showcase their analytical skills and legal creativity. The symposium was prepared as part of the APVV-23-0331 scientific project "Integration of the Capital Markets Union: Changes in Corporate Financing and the Rescue of Commercial Companies in Financial Difficulties."

Slovak for Dentists is a textbook intended for international dental students preparing to communicate professionally in Slovak in a real dental environment. The second, expanded and revised edition is the result of several years of practical use and feedback from students. Private international law has undergone dramatic changes in recent periods. The fully operational process of communitarization of this legal field has not yet – and perhaps could not have been – effectively reflected by domestic legislators. Under the current legal status, it is not uncommon for legal issues to intertwine regulations of community origin and domestic legislation (embodied primarily by Act No. 97/1963 Coll. on Private International Law and Procedure).

Questions about the obsolescence of some provisions of this, until recently, universal codified regulation of private international law arise mainly (but not exclusively) from the conflict rules contained in the so-called "Rome I" Regulation on the law applicable to contractual obligations, the "Rome II" Regulation on the law applicable to non-contractual obligations, and most recently in Council Regulation (EC) No. 4/2009 of 18 December 2008 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition, and enforcement of decisions and cooperation in matters relating to maintenance obligations.

Respecting the principle of the primacy of generally binding acts of the Community over domestic law, the correct application of normative texts cannot be achieved without the ability to quickly navigate through the norms and subsequently compare them.

Students and anyone else are therefore confronted with a multitude of legal regulations of substantial scope and detailed regulation. Currently, apart from systematically arranged references on the websites of the Ministry of Justice, we do not find a comprehensive material that would offer an overview of legal regulations in the field of private international law and procedure.

Philosophy is interwoven throughout its history with several principles that bring light and order to this kind of thinking, whether it is a systematic or a non-systematic form of philosophizing.

Each of the principles represents in its own way the origin (ἀρχή) of all deductive reasoning, but not all philosophical statements and conceptions are obliged to proceed in the same way, for not all philosophical statements and conceptions are calculus. Actually, such a form of rationalist philosophizing is really a minority in the history of philosophy. But in spite of its minority presence, it will always attract attention to some extent, whether by becoming a pillar of thought itself and finding a permanent place in its foundations, or by becoming an indispensable mainstay of philosophical reasoning. In fact, there are not many principles in the history of philosophical thought.

The state of affairs is primarily due to the heterogeneous and in many cases irrationalist nature of philosophical thinking.

This university textbook is intended for students of the Faculty of Science of the University of Applied Sciences in Košice who have enrolled in practical exercises in Biotechnology, but also for all other students who are interested in learning about the practical applications of biotechnology.

The aim of the practical course is to familiarize students with basic biotechnological methods and their applications. The students will verify in practice the theoretical knowledge acquired in the Biotechnology lectures such as the course of fermentation processes, wine production, preparation of fermented milk products and cheese, preparation of culture media, inoculation and cultivation of microorganisms, etc. The practical exercises also include the use of analytical and spectral methods, which are an integral part of biochemistry.

This university text is intended for students of chemical and ecological sciences at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice and is intended to serve as a tool for experimental exercises in colloid chemistry. Colloid chemistry is an important part of the theoretical basis of the chemical sciences and belongs to the newer interdisciplinary fields of natural sciences.

It combines knowledge from physical chemistry, physics and biology, while also drawing on a solid knowledge of mathematics and other scientific disciplines. Experiments are often essential in understanding the problems of colloid chemistry, modelling ideas about the phenomena and laws involved in the discipline. This is why active participation in experimental exercises is so important and essential to mastering the material in colloid chemistry.

In selecting the tasks for these scripts, it was also necessary to respect the considerable limitations imposed by the possibilities of the laboratory instrumentation and material equipment of our department. Despite this limitation, however, they can illustrate to students the basic theoretical physicochemical principles of colloid dispersion systems and, importantly, their understanding can contribute to the understanding of some of the more important peculiarities of colloidal phenomena.
