Pokus o konfrontáciu Gadamerovho učenia nielen s velikánmi gréckej filozofie, ale aj s Hegelom a Heideggerom nie je jednoduchá úloha. Celá Gadamerova historicko-filozofická tvorba je však najvýraznejšie spojená s týmito antickými mysliteľmi a s dvoma géniami nemeckého filozofického myslenia. Preto niet vyhnutia. Bez tejto konfrontácie by bolo celé moje úsilie v istom zmysle zbytočné. To, či a ako sa mi to podarí, je už iná otázka. Každý čitateľ si určite vytvorí svoj vlastný úsudok.

It is very difficult to refer to any act of extremism or action having extremist characteristics, or to exclude it unambiguously. The boundary between extremism and accepted, conformal behavior is very broad and vaguely worded. Each company tends to set certain criteria to determine what can be considered as unwanted, violent, radical or extreme, or what signs of such a manifestation do not have. Therefore, when comparing the individual countries of the European Union in this area, we come across a different definition of what is or is not considered to be radical or extremist. In essence, the level of tolerance to some of the manifestations and the setting of indicators for the evaluation of the proceedings as extremist.

The presented monograph aims to present the basic social contexts of extremism and radicalization in the form of their philosophical and theoretical backgrounds, influencing the factors, the basic directions. In the author's work, the authors focus on the target group of adolescents, which they consider to be one of the most endangered groups in society in terms of development of the radicalization process. At the conclusion of the monograph is also offered the criminal level of these phenomena, which is not unavoidable in terms of complex analysis.

The history of the Balkans (not just in the 20th century) and its nations have had an irreplaceable place at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ in Košice for several years. Therefore, this textbook is a logical culmination of this established trend. It represents the third publication focused on Southeastern Europe, as in 2015 a monograph titled International Relations in the 19th and 20th Centuries I (Nations of Southeastern Europe in International Politics, 1804 – 1856) was published, and in 2020 Nations of Southeastern Europe under International Politics from 1856 to 1913.

Logically then, this publication complements the literature portfolio (both thematically and chronologically) for students interested in this still turbulent region. Previous works are scientific monographs that can also be used during pedagogical processes; however, this work is directly aimed at students and their needs.

The presented monograph deals with various views on of the community issue and community work, with which  area of social work or other helping professions is closely connected. It offers theoretical analysis as a basic theoretical framework of the issue, which is necessary to know in the study and in the performance of the practice in the helping profession. The authors consider community work to be one of the possibilities for fully involving the inhabitants in co-responsible decision-making on things that fundamentally affect their lives.

The monograph characterizes in  fifteen chapters the community and the processes that takes place in it, outlines a brief history and approaches in community work. It offers theoretical background, which is used in community work as a necessary prerequisite for a professional approach practice. The monograph also points to the important position of professional help in community.

The monograph addresses the issues surrounding functional families, dysfunctional families, and those affected by crises. It analyzes various determinants that lead to family dysfunction and identifies factors contributing to family crises and the destabilization of family relationships. Special attention is given to working with dysfunctional families, particularly through family rehabilitation, methods, forms, and procedures employed mainly by helping professionals.

Additionally, the monograph explores contemporary forms of couple cohabitation and the factors that have caused changes in this area. Families are examined from the perspective of helping professions, including psychology, sociology, adult education, health care, law, and economics. These various perspectives create a comprehensive view of the examined issues and establish a multidisciplinary space for addressing problems within the family system. A functional family is seen as the foundation of society; therefore, society must create tools to assist families that are unable to resolve issues affecting their functionality.

The monograph deals with the post-millennial media discourse in the UK and aims to popularize the currently used methodological framework in the form of a case study.

The theoretical basis is provided by the introductory chapters, which deal with the topic of migration and newspaper discourse in the UK. The methodological framework represents an increasingly popular combination of corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis, which is introduced not only theoretically but also practically used in the presented case study. The case study compares the language used in the British newspapers before and after the lifting of labor market restrictions in the UK for Bulgarians and Romanians, specifically in 2013 and 2014.

The research is based on the identification of special language patterns used in the compiled corpus to characterize Bulgarians and Romanians, specifically paying attention to nouns, verbs and numerals. By doing such research, scholars can identify the role of media discourse in depicting social reality.

Zborník vznikol na základe podujatia s tematicky vyhranenou a politologicky azda najčastejšie diskutovanou problematikou demokracie. K tomu by som dodala, že podujatia sa zúčastnili aj doktorandi iných študijných odborov, ktorí tému demokracie analyzovali z iných ako politologických pozícií. Veľmi som privítala, že v zborníku sa objavil príspevok z právnej problematiky Európskej únie. Obohatením zborníka je aj príspevok z medzinárodnopolitickej problematiky, ktorá presvetľuje demokratické pravidlá uplatňujúce sa v inou ako európskom teritóriu. Ostatné príspevky načierajú do rozličných aspektov tvorby demokratického politického prostredia na Slovensku a v Európskej únii, pričom sa v nich objavujú viaceré sympatické pokusy o netradičné pohľady na rozvoj občianskej spoločnosti, verejnej a straníckej politiky.

Téma rodovej rovnosti v univerzitnom a akademickom prostredí je v slovenskom kontexte stále vo veľmi ambivalentnej pozícii – často prehliadaná a marginalizovaná, inštrumentalizovaná a vnímaná ako cudzorodý prvok či formálna nevyhnutnosť, no snáď najčastejšie je vystavená mnohým nedorozumeniam a dezinterpretáciám. Zámerom predkladanej publikácie a jej autorského kolektívu je prispieť k formovaniu a kultivácii prostredia, v ktorom je možné vecne diskutovať o otázkach rodových vzťahov v akademickom prostredí, rozvíjať skúmanie z rodovej perspektívy, a najmä uskutočňovať politiku rodovej rovnosti ako jeden z nástrojov demokratizácie akademickej sféry a univerzity. Zborník vznikol v rámci realizácie projektu VVGS-2018-749 Tvorba Plánu pre rodovú rovnosť na UPJŠ v Košiciach a predstavuje rôzne kontexty a perspektívy, z ktorých možno o otázkach rodovej rovnosti na univerzite uvažovať. Jednotlivé autorky a autor sa vo svojich textoch sústreďujú na tému rodovej rovnosti z filozofického, filozoficko-právneho a právneho pohľadu. Záverečný text predstavuje zistenia kvalitatívneho skúmania, ktoré bolo súčasťou uvedeného projektu, ich interpretáciu a závery z perspektívy ďalšieho uskutočňovania politiky rodovej rovnosti na Univerzite Pavla Jozefa Šafárika v Košiciach. Publikáciu chápeme ako pozvanie k diskusii, kritickému premýšľaniu a skúmaniu, a tým k tvorbe univerzity, akou môžeme byť.

Hlavný zámer zborníka, ktorý držíte v rukách, predstavuje práve vzdanie pocty historikovi, ktorý svojim úctyhodným vedeckým dielom výrazne prispel k utváraniu slovenskej historiografie, predovšetkým medievalistiky. Zároveň sa tu vyslovuje uznanie za rozsiahlu a v nemalej miere priekopnícku prácu archivára, ktorý pomáhal rozvíjať moderné archívnictvo na východe Slovenska. A v neposlednom rade ide o formu poďakovania za prácu vysokoškolského pedagóga, ktorého predmety absolvovali stovky študentov, a ktorý si svojim podnetným prístupom získal ich srdcia. Na všetkých týchto troch rovinách má cenné zásluhy prof. PhDr. Ferdinand Uličný, DrSc. (*18. 8. 1933, Ploštín), ktorý v lete roku 2023 oslávil životné jubileum 90. rokov.

"The presented peer-reviewed collection of contributions titled "Present and Future of Social Work in the Reflection of Social Changes" is the output of a scientific conference with international participation, marking the 10th anniversary of the Košické dni sociálnej práce, held on November 25, 2022. The conference was dedicated to the vision of social work, its methods, and techniques in the context of societal changes. With the changing times come new challenges to which social work must be prepared to respond. The central focus of the collection is the search for answers to pre-defined questions: "Is the current social work system adequately configured for current societal problems? Can social work promptly respond to new and unknown challenges? Are the known methods of social work effective in dealing with contemporary negative phenomena? Do we need additional methods? If so, what are they?" Individual contributions touch on theoretical concepts in the search for answers, but they also include empirically based contributions that reflect research results from various areas of society and problematic situations, with a view to providing recommendations for both the theory and practice of social work.

The presented university textbook is a reaction to two fundamental shortcomings. The first one is the absence of a similar, if not equivalent, textbook in the Slovak university environment. The second shortcoming is the mistake that Leibniz's philosophy is a system called monadology.

The presented textbook corrects this mistake and at the same time fills the gap of the absence of this kind of textbook with a Leibniz subject. For the above reasons, the presented textbook brings a new perspective on the philosophy of G. W. Leibniz, especially in the period of early philosophical beginnings with an overlap into the so-called Paris period and the De summa rerum period up to the first philosophical doctrinal formulation expressed in the Discours de métaphysique (Winter 1685-1686). The textbook is conceived as a selection of sections of source texts translated by the author of the textbook from French and partly from Latin and equipped with comments accessible to the target audience.

It is therefore the author's wish that this textbook not only serve as a form of correction for the misinterpretation of Leibniz's philosophy, but as an inspiring text that will introduce the reader to the world of Leibniz's philosophy in its undistorted light.

Filozofický zborník Kant v kontextoch Husserlovej a Heideggerovej filozofie je prezentáciou výsledkov II. medzinárodnej filozofickej konferencie, ktorá sa uskutočnila v dňoch 5. – 7. novembra 2008 na akademickej pôde UPJŠ v Košiciach. Konferenciu pripravila Katedra filozofie a dejín filozofie FF UPJŠ vo veľmi úzkej spolupráci so Slovenským filozofickým združením pri SAV v Bratislave.

Štruktúra predkladaného zborníka bola rozvrhnutá do troch základných častí. V prvej časti sú publikované príspevky, ktoré odzneli na konferencii a predstavujú rozhodujúcu obsahovú súčasť nášho zborníka. Jednotlivé príspevky sú zaradené v takom poradí, v akom odzneli na konferencii. V druhej časti zborníka sú publikované vystúpenia zo slávnostnej inaugurácie udeľovania čestného titulu Doctor honoris causa Milanovi Sobotkovi a Teodorovi Münzovi. V tretej časti je publikovaná fotodokumentácia, v ktorej je zachytený slávnostný akademický akt udeľovania čestného titulu Doctor honoris causa.
