Publikace podává přehled orgánových soustav lidského těla jak z anatomického, tak z fyziologického hlediska a je vhodná jako základní učebnice pro spektrum studentů studijních oborů vyšších odborných škol zdravotnických.

Obsahem kapitol jsou jednotlivé orgánové soustavy lidského těla, jejichž struktura vždy zahrnuje vstupní anatomické poznámky odpovídající středoškolské úrovni učiva, anatomickou část a fyziologickou část s hlubším zpracováním dané orgánové soustavy. Systematicky prezentované poznatky kladou důraz také na latinskou terminologii s případnými řeckými ekvivalenty. Text je průběžně doplňován schematickými obrázky, grafy a přehlednými tabulkami.

Rozštěp v orofaciální oblasti je vedle vrozených vad srdce a končetin nejčastěji se vyskytující vrozenou vývojovou vadou člověka, která je slučitelná se životem. Studentům a začínajícím chirurgům přináší popis teoretických principů základních chirurgických intervencí a výkonů. V jednotlivých kapitolách jsou přehledně prezentovány principy operování, příprava pacienta k operačnímu výkonu, příprava operačního týmu, způsoby práce s chirurgickými nástroji, techniky řezů, operačních přístupů a uzávěrů, technické principy provádění punkcí, drénování, kanylování i problematika stomií. 

Publikace je doplněna množstvím schematických obrázků, které názorně ilustrují jednotlivé chirurgické techniky a intervence. Monografie není míněna jako alternativa praktického tréninku, nýbrž jako odrazový můstek ke správnému a pečlivému nácviku těchto technik.

Druhé, doplněné a přepracované vydání Moderní gynekologie je členěno do 35 kapitol, na jejichž zpracování se podílelo 56 autorů. Někteří autoři kapitol z prvního vydání kapitoly „upgradovali“, u některých kapitol došlo k výměně autorského týmu a kapitoly mají zcela novou podobu, jako je tomu v oblasti urogynekologie, onkogynekologie nebo endometriózy. Další kapitoly přibyly, například kapitola soudního znalce nebo úlohy porodní asistentky v péči o ženu a kapitoly ambulantní péče o ženu. 

Základní učebnice v oboru je určena jak studentům lékařských fakult, tak postgraduálnímu studiu lékařů a studiu i dalšímu vzdělávání porodních asistentek. ​​

Publikace představuje osobnosti v oboru ošetřovatelství, které z historického kontextu přispěly k implementaci změn do ošetřovatelské praxe na Slovensku. Celospolečenskými změnami, kterými Slovenská republika od roku 1989 prošla, dochází ke změně pohledu na ošetřovatelství, hlavně s důrazem na ošetřovatelství jako vědní disciplínu, s prostorem pro autonomní výkon ošetřovatelské praxe.

It is also a starting point for other necessary steps, namely to link the results of research to prax the themselves oncologists to hospitals, their outpatient clinics and patients as well as to support the merit of developing the sociooncology, a specific science discipline.

The current time is fast, hasty, with strongly asserted women's emancipation, absorbed by information and communication technologies that overcome distances but create them at the same time. The lifestyle of humans is changing, many diseases are on the rise, and cancer is becoming a "trend of the present". Claims on man, and especially on women, are now too great. Women perform multiple roles and perform many tasks. They become caregiving mothers, understanding and surrendered wives, workers with professionalism and flexibility, and idols the myth of beauty too. Due to the overlapping of the traditional gender division of labor, the life of women takes place on several levels. Their work day does not end when they leave the job, but they continue to care for their household and their own family. Besides all, they strive to fulfill not only personal expectations, but also the expectations of the family, social environment and society, reject failure and strive for perfectionism.

In our lives, situations that affect and burden us more or less appear. Even though we can not in control everything and everyone, we are able to control situations that are of direct concern to us. In life, we encounter problems in employment, financial problems, illness or death of near. As well as negative, also positive situations affect us. Each responds to each situation different ways.

Monograph is one of the ways in which we aim to draw attention to the so "C-coping style" as a maladaptive way of managing the burden that is typical of oncological ill patients. It is one of the possible concepts that affect the manifestation of breast cancer. Based on this, we have focused on the used coping strategies and we consider the life events to be a significant burden in the lives of cancer patients. The research is aimed at synthesizing the life events and the coping strategies used to coping them, conceived as a risk behavior of patients with breast cancer. As the coping of the burden can be different between men and women, the monograph is intended predominantly for women, to which we have also focused in realized research. They can be patients with oncological diagnosis, but also women who want to prevent this disease by use effective coping life events. We also believe that the monograph will enrich everyone who is interested in the same target group.

The scientific monograph focuses on the characteristics of free radicals, reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, oxidative stress, and its impact on various diseases. A significant portion is dedicated to antioxidants, their classification based on multiple criteria, the characteristics of selected antioxidants in terms of their functions, manifestations of their deficiency and excess, and the overall antioxidant capacity of the body.

A special section is devoted to enzyme-based antioxidants, natural sources of antioxidants in the form of vitamins, trace elements, flavonoids, polyphenols, and coenzyme Q10. To provide a clearer understanding of antioxidants and their influence on population health, the monograph presents results from a research project included in the program "Research Support for Enhancing the Defense Capabilities of the Czech Republic in NATO Structures."

The research was conducted between 2010 and 2012 as part of preventive rehabilitation programs for professional soldiers with a sports component. The study involved 218 professional soldiers, including 180 men and 38 women, with an average age of 33.3 years. The current health status and dietary habits of the soldiers were assessed using questionnaires.

The study described the saturation of the observed group with antioxidant vitamins and statistically evaluated the relationship between their levels and the risk indicators for the development of cardiovascular diseases. Individual analyses were performed using the Reflotron device calibrated with Reflotron Precinorm control serum. Following blood collection, all participants underwent anthropometric examinations (body weight, height, waist circumference), blood pressure measurements, heart rate monitoring, and physical fitness assessments through simple functional tests.

This scientific monograph is suitable for the scientific community, students of medical, veterinary, and natural sciences, as well as public health students at all levels of university education. It is also intended for informed members of the public.

Kniha se zabývá problematikou jednání zdravotnických pracovníků vůči pacientům a jejich rodinným příslušníkům. Na příkladech se autorka snaží přiblížit situace, které běžně ve zdravotnictví nastávají a komplikují pacientům život či dokonce mohou pacienta poškodit. Závěrem každého případu je poučení pro čtenáře, jak by měli ideálně v obdobných situacích jednat. 
Autorka vychází ze svých zkušeností dlouholetého pracovníka ve zdravotnictví a ze zkušeností, kterých nabyla v životě jako pacientka či rodinný příslušník pacienta. Zároveň čtenářům přibližuje některá témata související s činností zdravotnických zařízení, o kterých se zpravidla zásadně veřejně nehovoří. Ačkoliv je většina kapitol smutným obrazem českého zdravotnictví, má kniha za cíl povzbudit čtenáře, že svým aktivním postojem dokážou lépe čelit všemu, co může v jejich životech při komunikaci se zdravotníky nastat.

S tím, jak narůstá výskyt rakoviny v populaci, jak dokážeme čím dál většímu množství lidí účinně pomoci, logicky přibývá i těch, kteří budou otevírat související psychologická témata. Kniha se snaží uchopit psychické reakce člověka v souvislosti s příchodem onkologického onemocnění do jeho života. Neomezuje se jen na nemocného, ale všímá si také prožívání, myšlení a chování jeho blízkých i zdravotníků. Praxe ukazuje, že se v našich profesních i soukromých životech čím dál častěji potkáváme s lidmi, kteří si prošli nebo procházejí rakovinou. Ne všichni ale vědí, jak se v takové situaci chovat, co nemocný člověk prožívá a jak ho nejlépe podpořit.
Kniha je primárně určena všem, kteří se potkávají nebo budou potkávat s tématem nemoci v rámci svojí odborné nebo pomáhající praxe. Obsahuje řadu konkrétních doporučení, zkušeností a vědecky zakotvených metod, dokreslených na reálných případech z psychoonkologické praxe. Text může být v řadě oblastí užitečný i pro blízké onkologicky nemocných lidí, nebo ty, kteří se s tématem potkávají v osobním životě.

The scientific monograph focuses on the issue of adolescent risk behaviors on the internet in the form of its problematic use in the context of valid theories and practices of a social work. Text of the monograph is divided into four parts.

The first part focuses on the multidisciplinary definition of a risk behavior on the internet. It offers an up-to-date literary overview of the issue through the latest, especially foreign, theoretical knowledge.

The second part focuses on the problematic use of the internet in contexts of valid origins of the social work. The third part focuses on the presentation of the most important psychosocial factors correlating with the problematic internet use in the adolescent´s group. The theoretical knowledge is supplemented by the authors research into the present factors.

The final part is application-oriented and focuses on the possibilities that the social work offers at the praxis level to prevent and solve the presented problems.

The set of experiential-educational activities is conceptually divided into two main areas. The first one is content-focused on the adolescent, his/her psychological capability including opinions, attitudes, emotions, competences, and self-reflection.

The second one focuses on interpersonal real and virtual relationships, the recognition of the advantages and disadvantages of internet communication and face-to-face interaction, and last but not least for more optimal use of the Internet and preference for real social interaction.

On February 15, 2018, the Faculty of Public Administration at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice hosted the second annual doctoral student conference on the theme of "Theory and Practice of Public Administration." For the first time, this academic event took on an international dimension, with participants from partner universities (faculties) in the Czech Republic and Poland, alongside representatives from six Slovak faculties.

The conference, following a brief opening session addressed by the Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. JUDr. Mária Hencovská, CSc., PhD, was organized into three sections: political science, legal, and socio-economic. Each presenter shared the results of their research, aligning with the title and content of their contribution. The event maintained a scientific-discussion format, with moderated discussions following each presentation or group of thematically related presentations.

According to the results presented in this publication, the factors that attract students to emigration (pull factors) are language skills and career opportunities abroad, the desire for change and new experiences, perceived feasibility of emigration, and self-efficacy.

The publication is focused on discrete random processes, primarily on Markov chains, which have wide application in the field of economics and finance.

The textbook is divided into five chapters, the first of which serves as an introduction to random processes and provides definition, properties and classification of random processes in general. The second chapter discusses Markov chains with discrete time, including valuation of transitions between states and their optimal management. The third chapter focuses on special Markov chains with continuous time and emphasizes construction and solution to the system of Kolmogorov differential equations, which describe the dynamics of the process development. The last two chapters illustrate applications of Markov chains using examples of queuing system modeling and renewal theory.

Besides the explanation of basic terms, definitions and theorems with proofs, this textbook also provides number of solved examples to illustrate the discussed theory. Problem assignments are placed at the end of each chapter, so that readers can test their understanding of the content as they progress through the book. Solutions to all the problems and the list of references are provided at the end of the publication.

This textbook is primarily intented for students majoring in Economics and Financial Mathematics at the Faculty of Science of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and it covers content of the course “Random Proceses 1“ thought there. The proposed university textbook provides knowledge in the field of nursing in internal medicine. It is intended primarily for students of the nursing program, but also for nurses working in this specialization. The textbook builds on the previous two parts: Nursing Process in Internal Medicine I (Sováriová Soósová, 2006) and Nursing Process in Internal Medicine II (Suchanová, 2007). It is divided into four chapters, focusing on disorders of water and electrolyte balance and acid-base equilibrium, kidney and urinary tract diseases, endocrine system diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Each chapter is similarly structured, beginning with diagnostic methods commonly used in the respective area. Subsequent subchapters address nursing care for selected diseases of specific bodily systems. Each subchapter consists of a clinical introduction (characteristics of the disease, its etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment) and nursing care for the given disease. This includes assessment, formulation of nursing diagnoses, and planning nursing care (setting goals, outcome criteria, and planning possible interventions).

The textbook serves as a model framework and algorithm for managing nursing care using the nursing process method.

The author's ambition is to build on the current and at the same time to stimulate further discussion of the anchoring of labour law in the system of private law sectors and to contribute to the variation of views in relation to freedom of contract and its limits in labour law. The broad contractual freedom of civil law does not apply to the field of labour law, and thus the penetration of standard civil law institutes into labour law relations is not always self-evident.

The above constitutes the main theses of the present monograph. The issue of freedom of contract in labour law can be grasped in several ways. The author has chosen a content structure that is built on three basic pillars. In the first part, the author assesses the position of labour law in the system of law, which is determined primarily by the actual subject of legal regulation - dependent labour and the specific method of legal regulation through cogent and relatively cogent norms. In this context, the author would like to note at the outset that the much-discussed dispositive nature of labour law norms appears to be merely presumptive. Labour law is built on minima and maxima, with relative mandatory norms being the building blocks of fixed boundaries, a fact that distinguishes labour law from other branches of private law. These considerations are followed by the author's view of autonomy of will in labour law. The limits of contractual freedom (not only) in the theoretical sense form the second pillar of the author's ideas.

Finally, the third part of the thesis is to be the one that translates the theoretical-legal considerations of the interconnection of civil law and labour law into the interpretation of selected civil law institutes and the possibility of their application and implementation in labour law relations.

V současném pluralitním společenství mohou mnohé z nich směřovat k právnímu řešení. Ve světle idey prevence proto kniha nabízí komplexní a systematický teoreticko-praktický výklad z oblasti zdravotnické etiky, včetně monitorace současných etických specifik zdravotní péče.
 
S ambicí přijetí východiska praktického řešení, o které se mohou zdravotníci v nastalých situacích etických problémů a dilemat opřít, učebnice srozumitelně předkládá přehled etických přístupů uplatňovaných ve zdravotnické praxi. V kontextu uvedené aspirace je součástí učebního textu perspektivní didaktický fenomén, kterým je metoda případovosti, která je, vedle zvyšování etické citlivosti a zručnosti při řešení morálních dilemat, významným praktickým a metodickým nástrojem implementace etiky do zdravotnické praxe.

The content of the book publication Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Continuity consists of contributions from two events organized by the Department of Slovak Studies, Slavic Philologies, and Communication at the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice during its short existence.

The first event was a scientific seminar held on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of P. J. Šafárik, titled Pavol Jozef Šafárik – Scientist and Artist, which took place on January 27–28, 2012, in Košice and Kobeliarovo. The second event was an internal scientific seminar on the occasion of the 220th anniversary of Šafárik’s birth, held on December 15, 2015, under the title In the Quiet Home Circle. Symbolically—beginning with death and ending with birth (thus indicating the living continuity of Šafárik’s research legacy)—we aim to continue the study of Pavol Jozef Šafárik’s scientific work and increasingly involve the youngest generation of researchers (represented by doctoral students of the department in the field of literary studies). This is despite the fact that the literature on the life and work of this scholar and poet, who stood at the birth of Slavic studies, is very rich, and most of his works have already been scientifically analyzed. However, it appears that even seemingly outdated views of Šafárik still deserve scientific attention in the new context of humanities and natural sciences, as can be read in the contributions published in this volume.

Through the continuous publication of the Collected Works of Pavol Jozef Šafárik, both mentioned seminars, and the publication of this volume, the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice has continued the activities of the Prešov Faculty of Arts from the time before its separation from the union of faculties of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in 1997. The selection and arrangement of contributions in the volume symbolize the "passing of the baton" in research and publishing activities related to Pavol Jozef Šafárik—a scientific personality of global stature, who in 1959 gave his name to our university.

Kniha detailně pojednává o infekčních nemocech dolních cest dýchacích od trachey po terminální bronchioly, plicního parenchym a oblasti pohrudnice a pohrudniční dutiny. Tato postižení patří k nejčastějším, a to nejen infekčním, chorobám postihujícím lidstvo. Řada z nich se vyznačuje značnou morbiditou a mortalitou. Jejich výskyt je modifikován demografickými změnami, změnami v životním prostředí i rozvojem medicíny, a to v dobrém i zlém. Příkladem, který nám ukazuje, jak nás tyto nemoci mohou stále překvapovat a ohrožovat, je COVID-19 infekce. Ani v budoucnosti nemůžeme vyloučit další, bohužel možná i závažnější respirační infekce.

Kniha přináší komplexní až „holistický“ pohled na tato infekční onemocnění, respektive na takto nemocného člověka. Diagnostika a léčba těchto chorob jsou primárně v rukou pneumologů, ale jak ukazuje i rozsáhlý kolektiv autorů této publikace, je v řadě případů nutná multioborová spolupráce v péči o nemocné. Pozornost je zaměřena nejen na tradiční diagnostický a léčebný koncept, ale důstojné místo je věnováno i rehabilitaci, psychologické podpoře a ošetřovatelské péči v rámci celostního pohledu na nemocného.

Kniha je určena internistům, praktickým lékařům, pneumologům, chirurgům, intenzivistům, infekcionistům a studentům lékařských fakult.

In the presented university textbooks, so-called satellite-based augmentation systems (SBAS, from the English Satellite Based Augmentation Systems, in Slovak Systémy rozširujúce základné satelitné systémy) are also discussed. These systems enhance, expand, or refine the basic satellite navigation systems. They are supportive satellite systems for GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems). Currently, the long-operational American GPS and Russian GLONASS systems, as well as the partially operational European Galileo system (since December 2016), have and will continue to have broad applications in various fields of human activity, both professional and personal.

The university textbook Globálne navigačné satelitné systémy (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) reflects the current progressive development in the technological and instrumental principles and components of such satellite navigation systems. It presents the state of these satellite technologies from their historical origins and development to the present. The rapid advancements, particularly in the instrumental base of satellite navigation systems, will require updates on their current state in future editions of these university textbooks.
