This university textbook is intended for students of the field of nursing and brings closer the issues in selected clinical fields of nursing, namely dermatovenerology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and dentistry.

It focuses on the characterization, management of care, reporting and dispensing of specific diseases and nursing care of selected diseases in these fields. It provides important information on the implementation of specific investigative methods and nursing activities that reflect the latest knowledge of the profession, professional guidelines and evidence-based practice.

The authors used relevant sources of domestic and foreign literature as well as electronic sources, which are listed at the end of individual chapters, when processing individual topics. The aim of the authors was to create a university textbook that would help nursing students to orientate themselves in the mentioned clinical fields, or could also be beneficial for nurses in practice.

Autori predkladajú ošetrovateľskej aj lekárskej komunite mimoriadnu knižnú publikáciu, ktorá prináša komplexné poznatky o plánovaní a poskytovaní ošetrovateľskej starostlivosti o deti od narodenia až do dospelosti. Do publikácie sa dostali najnovšie poznatky z oblasti vývinu detí v jednotlivých vekových skupinách, ktorých poznanie je pre poskytovanie ošetrovateľskej starostlivosti o deti v zdraví aj chorobe nevyhnutné. Prehĺbiť vedomosti v problematike ošetrovateľskej starostlivosti o deti možno v súčasnej dobe (po reforme zdravotníckeho vzdelávania sestier) najmä postgraduálnym vzdelávaním v špecializačných odboroch Intenzívna ošetrovateľská starostlivosť v neonatológii, Intenzívna ošetrovateľská starostlivosť v pediatrii a Ošetrovateľská starostlivosť v pediatrii. Autori podrobne opisujú jednotlivé choroby a chorobné stavy, prezentujú zdravotný stav dieťaťa, jeho potreby a možnosti liečby. Jasne definujú úlohy ošetrovateľov. V texte uvádzajú mnoho konkrétnych skúseností a praktických rád nielen pre ošetrovateľov, ale aj pre rodičov detí. Pretože väčšina spoluautorov sú skúsení lekári a zdravotné sestry s dlhoročnou zdravotníckou praxou, odporúčania a rady sú užitočné nielen pre sestry, ale aj pre lekárov pediatrov. Knihu by si mali naštudovať výchovní poradcovia na základných a stredných školách, ktorí chcú porozumieť mladistvým. Rozhodne by si knihu mali preštudovať aj študenti medicíny – najmä vo vyšších ročníkoch štúdia a dôsledne sa podľa nej riadiť. Kniha je mimoriadne cenný autorský pokus priniesť komplexný pohľad na zložitú a stále sa meniacu problematiku starostlivosti o dieťa od narodenia až po dospelosť. Texty dopĺňa množstvo dokresľujúcich obrázkov a tabuliek, dôležitý pre orientáciu je aj podrobný vecný index. V závere kapitol je zoznam použitej literatúry.Knihu odporúčam pre všetky zdravotné sestry a ošetrovateľky najmä v pediatrii, kniha by nemala chýbať ani v lekárskych knižniciach. Gratulujem autorom k významnému dielu..

The book is primary designed for the first-year students of the study programme “English Language for European Institutions and Economy” and its subject “Comparative Phonetics and Phonology”. Following the structure of this subject, the textbook is divided into eleven chapters whose content provides the reader with the essential theoretical information about the given issue from the sound subsystems of the English and the Slovak languages. The structure of each chapter is as follows: (1) theoretical explanation of the topic, (2) Suggestions for further reading recommending additional sources that develop the topic, (3) exercises whose aim is to evaluate students’ theoretical knowledge of the theme presented in the particular chapter, as well as its practical application in the process of communication. Considering the content of the book, it can be also used a study material for the students of all philological study programmes whose content encompasses the sound system of the English and/or the Slovak language.

The complex of legal norms protecting work, ensuring safety and health protection at work, is very broad in scope, extending beyond the Labour Code to include other specific legal regulations, collective agreements, executive legal regulations, and internal corporate normative acts.

Health protection of employees from hazardous workplace influences is a central requirement stemming from fundamental human rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the Slovak Republic. To ensure its universal enforcement across all employers in both private and public sectors, strict regulation through cogent norms is fully justified. The European Commission’s Communication to the European Parliament, Council, European Economic and Social Committee, and Committee of the Regions on the EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work 2014–2020 (COM(2014) 332 final) addresses the need to account for labor market changes arising from demographic shifts, aging populations, and technological advancements.

Work pace demands are intensifying, and all age categories of employees must adapt to new technologies, organizational changes, and evolving job structures. This increases requirements for maintaining health fitness throughout entire professional careers. Mental health fitness, which receives insufficient specific attention, is an inherent part of health fitness requirements. Prevention plays a critical role in mental health protection.

The text chronologically organizes the most significant figures in the history of biological scientific disciplines, outlines key characteristics of major historical discoveries, and reevaluates their significance from the perspective of 21st-century science.

The educational text is chronologically divided into the most significant periods of civilization development. The last two completed centuries—the 19th and 20th—are subdivided into major life science fields due to the unprecedented growth of biological disciplines and the resulting volume of acquired information.

Since it can sometimes be challenging in science to define what constitutes the past versus the present of a particular discipline, we have excluded significant biological discoveries from the early 21st century, which are typically regarded as the “present” of biology.

The philosophical work of Immanuel Kant, the founder of German classical idealism, is one of those which, by the strength of its theoretical legacy, is permanently inspiring even in contemporary philosophical activities. This is an indisputable fact that cannot be seriously objected to. The philosophical teachings of Edmund Husserl, the founder of phenomenology, his successor Martin Heidegger, as well as several representatives of analytic philosophy, are proof of this fact. The above fact led the authors of this work to the idea of devoting a separate collective monograph to the indicated problem.

„Patológia 1. časť (zimný semester) - Praktické cvičenia pre študentov všeobecného lekárstva“ je prvou časťou vysokoškolskej učebnice predstavujúcou prvú polovicu výučby (zimný semester). V tejto časti je popísaných 70 diagnóz, kde každej je venovaná jedna strana. V popise je uvedené poradové číslo zhodujúce sa s číslom preparátu a názov danej diagnózy. Študent sa pri každom preparáte oboznámi so základnými informáciami o danej chorobe, jej makroskopickým a mikroskopickým obrazom. Navyše je vytvorené miesto, v ktorom si študent môže zaznačiť (nakresliť) charakteristický mikroskopický obraz danej choroby. Preparáty v tejto učebnici sú zamerané na všeobecnú patológiu – regresívne a progresívne zmeny, pigmentáciu, hojenie, zápaly a nádory.

Tým, že učebnica umožňuje preparáty zakresľovať, vytvára študentom priestor pre trvalejšie zapamätanie si danej problematiky. Je vynikajúcim zdrojom pre prípravu študentov na kolokvium a ústnu skúšku.

After several years of teaching experience in the compulsory subject of histology and histological techniques, it became clear that there was a need to refine, standardize, and facilitate the study of bachelor's degree students. We therefore decided to develop university textbooks for the theory of general histology in bachelor's degree programs: Laboratory Examination Methods in Healthcare, Physiotherapy, and Nursing. The new textbooks are based on the syllabi for the subjects "Histology and Pathology" and "Fundamentals of Histology" for the given study programs. The content is designed to make the study of histology as easy as possible and to help students quickly orient themselves in the given topic. At the same time, the texts aim to streamline cooperation between students and teachers in lectures and practical exercises, emphasizing the important structures of individual cell and tissue types in light microscope images, which is the primary goal and task of general histology.

The textbook "Literary Story as a Tool for Moral Education" aims to contribute to the preparation of future teachers of ethical education, as well as students from other fields, particularly in the humanities. It focuses on an area that remains trivialized and marginalized—gender-sensitive education and training. The author operates under the assumption that applying a gender-sensitive approach in education requires an understanding of what a gender perspective entails.

Experience from interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, along with teaching experiences where ethical questions and themes—such as those related to gender, gender equality, gender justice, and gender relations—are presented, taught, and explored through various media or texts (not only traditional scientific and professional ones but also artistic, especially literary), inspired the author to present such an approach in a relatively coherent form.

This includes summarizing existing knowledge and experiences on the topic so that they can serve as a suitable starting point for enhancing the competencies of future teachers (not only) in ethical education when applying a gender-sensitive approach in education and teaching issues related to gender and gender relations in the context of applied ethics and ethical education.
