Zborník “Stretnutie mladých historikov XIV“ s témou Myslenie a spoločnosť v priebehu dejín prináša súbor vedeckých príspevkov, ktoré sa venujú vzťahu medzi myslením a spoločenskými zmenami v historickom vývoji. Doktorandi a doktorandky z rôznych univerzít a inštitúcií analyzujú, ako politické, ekonomické a sociálne premeny ovplyvňovali myslenie rôznych sociálnych skupín a naopak, ako tieto zmeny v myslení formovali dejinné procesy. Každý príspevok bol podrobený odbornému hodnoteniu dvoch garantov, ktorých pripomienky sú reflektované v predkladanej verzii zborníku. Témy príspevkov sú rozdelené do jednotlivých blokov, v ktorých boli prezentované na konferencii 15. a 16. októbra 2024 na Katedre histórie, FF UPJŠ v Košiciach. If we were to conduct a study on the popularity of subjects among social work students, the subjects of Research Methodology and Statistics would likely rank low on the list. It is precisely the lack of popularity of research methodology among students that led to the preparation of this textbook. The stylistic approach of this text was chosen with the intention of introducing the fundamentals of methodology to students encountering it for the first time, without alienating methodologists. The text primarily serves as a teaching aid for the course "Exercise in Research Methodology" and the seminars "Bachelor Thesis Seminar" and "Master's Thesis Seminar." Throughout the entire textbook, examples and case studies are interwoven and visually highlighted. The text endeavors to address the fundamental question that is key to motivating and understanding the essence of research methodology: why is research necessary for social workers? The aim of the textbook is to facilitate students' preparation for the Research Methodology course and to enhance their understanding of the basics of research methodology.

The primary aim of the presented monograph is to introduce Slovak readers to the current state of knowledge in the field of parental control psychology and its consequences for various aspects of adolescent development. Additionally, it seeks to present research findings obtained from a representative sample of Slovak adolescents in early adolescence. The topic of parental control has been marginally addressed in the Slovak context, primarily as part of studies on parenting styles, but a detailed analysis of its forms and consequences within the Slovak environment is lacking.

The monograph is divided into nine chapters, with the first seven being theoretical in nature: Chapter 1 focuses on specific aspects of the parent-adolescent relationship and describes changes that occur during adolescence. Chapter 2 introduces the construct of parental control, situating it within several social-personality theories and general parenting styles. Chapter 3 examines two fundamental forms of control: behavioral and psychological, as well as their interplay. Chapter 4 defines the concept of structure as one form of parental control. Chapter 5 summarizes current knowledge about gender differences in the application of parental control. Chapter 6 presents factors related to the application of control, including child-related, parent-related, and contextual factors. Chapter 7, concluding the theoretical section, discusses discrepancies in perceptions of control between adolescents and their parents.
