The concept of a transterritorial administrative act is relatively new in administrative law, especially in the conditions of the Slovak Republic. It has practical applicability to the application of European Union law (including international law). Its essence lies in the fact that the effects of such an administrative act issued within one Member State exceed the territory of that Member State, have effects in other Member States, in all Member States of the European Union without being subject to the recognition process.

The purpose of the monograph is to present outputs of the scientific examination of this type of administrative acts, the definition of its characteristics and its effects, the examination of the possibilities of procedural defense against its effects by the State concerned, and possibly the possibility of unifying the action of the Member States of the European Union in case of procedural defense against the effects of transterritorial administrative acts. The monograph also contains analysis of certain types of transterrritorial administrative acts that are commonly used in the conditions of the European union and Slovak republic; they are also categorized under specific criteria.,

Particularly accentuated are issues related to specific effective communication skills, methods, and techniques serviceable during interactions with a patient; application of empathy and proactive approach are highlighted.

The scientific monograph is the output of the Care4Youth project, which aimed to map the current system of care for adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems (EBP) in Slovakia. It captures what the care system is and what its possible shortcomings are from the perspective of all those affected (adolescents with problems, their parents, care providers and other institutions involved). It also looks at the trajectory of adolescents with EBP in the care system, i.e. when and how adolescents with problems enter and leave the care system, or pass from one type of care to another and what impact different trajectories have on them. Last but not least, the aim of the monograph was to provide expert information on what are the risk and protective factors that will affect their success in the care system or, conversely, that threaten them. All this in order to support the proposal for improvements in the care system that would benefit all stakeholders.

Z hľadiska najnovších dejín Slovenska (a Československa) možno za jeden z najzásadnejších medzníkov považovať udalosti z novembra 1989 známe ako Nežná revolúcia. Jej širšie kontextuálne východiská, priebeh, ako aj dopady mali okrem politickej a hospodárskej roviny aj výraznú kultúrno-spoločenskú hĺbku a dosah. Na tomto základe možno o Nežnej revolúcii uvažovať aj ako o medzníku, ktorý zásadne ovplyvnil historické vedomie obyvateľstva, ktoré má multigeneračný presah až do súčasnosti. V súvislosti s 30. výročím Nežnej revolúcie, ktoré si spoločnosť v Čechách a na Slovensku pripomenula v roku 2019, bola pod záštitou Košického samosprávneho kraja v spolupráci s Verejnou knižnicou Jána Bocatia v Košiciach, Univerzitou Pavla Jozefa Šafárika v Košiciach, Ústavom pamäti národa a Rozhlasom a televíziou Slovenska v priestoroch Verejnej knižnice Jána Bocatia usporiadaná interaktívna výstava s názvom Prvý dotyk so slobodou. Výstava, okrem pripomenutia si novembrových udalostí z roka 1989, akcentovala práve uvedený kultúrno-spoločenský rozmer a dosah, pričom sa konceptuálne zamerala na rozvíjanie piatich dimenzií historického vedomia. Je to koncept rozvíjaný hlavne v oblasti súčasnej predmetovej didaktiky dejepisu, pričom ide o dimenzie identity, historicity, pamäti, vedomia o priestore a vedomia o čase. Na tomto základe bol na Katedre histórie Filozofickej fakulty UPJŠ v Košiciach realizovaný projekt, ktorého výstupom je aj predkladaný učebný text fungujúci ako organická súčasť rovnomenného edukačno-historického webového portálu. Východiskom textu je teoreticko-metodologická štúdia o dimenziách historického vedomia a miesta tohto konceptu v súčasnej predmetovej didaktike dejepisu, ako aj stať venovaná jej aplikácii na príklade koncipovania vyššie priblíženej výstavy. Jeho súčasťou je zasadenie revolučných udalostí z novembra 1989 do časovo, faktograficky aj tematicky širokého kontextu vzťahov medzi východným a západným blokom, studenou vojnou, ako aj kreovania a vnútorného fungovania komunistického režimu na Slovensku. Osobitná pozornosť je venovaná súvislostiam, ktoré viedli k Nežnej revolúcii a jej vlastnému priebehu, ústiacemu do pádu komunistického režimu a slobodným, demokratickým voľbám. Osobitnou súčasťou textu je náčrt praktických učebných figúr k problematike.

V dôsledku obsiahlosti témy si predkladaný text nekladie nárok na postulát vedeckej práce a ani na úplné vyčerpanie predmetnej problematiky. Ide o prehľadový a rámcový vstup do kľúčových udalostí a súvislostí sprevádzajúcich obdobie neslobody na Slovensku (a v Československu) vyúsťujúce do pádu komunistického režimu. Cieľom výstupov tohto projektu je prostredníctvom viacvrstevného študijného materiálu s interaktívnymi a multimediálnymi prvkami evokovať v cieľových skupinách žiakov základných a študentov stredných a vysokých škôl diskusiu o jednej z kľúčových tém moderných dejín Slovenska. Taktiež je to snaha podporiť výučbu tejto problematiky primárne na úrovni základných a stredných škôl. Využiteľnosť si môže nájsť aj ako podporný materiál pre študentov humanitných disciplín vysokých škôl. Osobitnou pridanou hodnotou je voľná aplikovatelnosť konceptu rozvíjania dimenzií historického vedomia pri výučbe rozličných historických tém.

University scripts “Visceral pathology of vascular origin“analyze one of the most challenging vascular regions, the aorta and the visceral aortic branches, from the surgical perspective. The diagnostic and the treatment aneurysms of the abdominal aorta are dedicated to the first chapter. Early diagnostic and operative treatment is crucial in the treatment of ruptured aneurysms of the abdominal aorta. Shortening of the interval between the patient’s arrival with ruptured aneurysm of the abdominal aorta into the hospital and the beginning of the operation decreased the perioperative mortality. This shortening, together with the use of the cell savers, led to the dropping of perioperative mortality from 50% to 20%. The diagnostics and surgical treatment of the acute and chronic occlusion of the aorta and iliac arteries are analyzed in the second chapter. In this chapter, the focus is given to the aortobifemoral bypass as “the gold standard“ of the surgical therapy of aortoiliac atherosclerosis. The management of acute mesenteric ischemia is the content of the third chapter. Acute mesenteric ischemia is a severe condition with high mortality. The problem of acute mesenterial ischemia is a delayed diagnostic that is the reason for poor therapeutical outcomes of the disease. The possible imagine studies and operations used in treating acute mesenteric ischemia are brought in this chapter. Chronic mesenteric ischemia leads to cachexia. The diagnosis of chronic mesenterial ischemia is one of the most demanding, and surgical therapy used in the treatment of chronic mesenterial ischemia also belongs to the most challenging operations. Left-sided colon ischemia belongs to the severe complications of the aortoiliac reconstructions. Left-sided colon ischemia has a high mortality. In the prevention of the left-sided colon, ischemia is preserving at least one internal iliac artery. The complex diagnostics treatment of intraabdominal compressive syndromes as Dunbar syndróme, „Nutcracker“ syndróme a Wilkie syndróme, analyzed in the last chapter.

The textbook "Bioenergetics" should serve as an introduction to the study of bioenergetics. This field of science is currently highly actual, as the results of the bioenergetics research in recent years clearly show that bioenergetics processes in living systems can "serve" not only to transformation of energy, but also affect the course of processes such as apoptosis, aging, origin and development of many diseases (especially neurodegenerative). These facts clearly indicate the need for the existence of quality teaching texts that would allow students to acquire the necessary information and knowledge in this scientific discipline in an acceptable way. For the above mentioned reasons, we decided to create these textbooks, which are in the form of ten chapters, which naturally and logically follow each other. One chapter basically presents one lecture within the course of Bioenergetics, which is realized at the Faculty of Science of the Pavel Jozef Šafárik University in Košice at the master's and doctoral degree of the study program "Biophysics". At the same time, these texts can also be used for teaching in the study subject Biochemistry, which is taught in the bachelor's and master's degree programs of the study programs "Biochemistry" resp. “Biophysics”. We would like to express our conviction that this textbook could in some way also help researchers working in the field of the energy transformation in biological organisms and the phenomena associated with this transformation. This textbook presents knowledge about the basic concepts of bioenergetics, the mechanisms of processes such as glycolysis and the Krebs cycle (in addition to a detailed and comprehensive description of these processes, there is also a general view of the interconnectedness of these processes and their incorporation into a compact view of the overall energy transformation in biological organisms), the structure and functionality of biological membranes (this area is necessary for a better understanding of the knowledge presented in the following chapters). In the following chapters, the textbook deals with the description of the structure and function of mitochondria, with great emphasis on the properties and mechanisms of functioning of the four complexes of the respiratory chain and ATP-synthase. These complexes create the basis for the existence of the "most important" process in bioenergetics, oxidative phosphorylation. In the final two chapters, the mechanisms of the processes that produce photosynthesis, its light and dark phases, are presented. There is presented relevant information about this "second" most important bioenergetics process taking place in many biological organisms and providing the possibility of transforming the energy of electromagnetic radiation into energy "hidden" in the chemical bonds of certain chemical molecules. We want to express our conviction that the textbooks "Bioenergetics" will be a good "helper and inspirer" for many students who want to learn as much as possible about the fascinating structures and mechanisms for energy transformation in living systems, without which it would not be possible existence of life as we know it.

For a non-governmental organization to be successful, it must focus, among other things, on its main goal of spreading its vision and mission to another area. It can achieve success by increasing its visibility and raising awareness about its activities in society, sending a clear message, and maintaining transparency. The monograph deals with specific areas in which non-profit NGOs are active, i.e. marketing and fundraising. Both these areas are of key importance for the NGO’s success, therefore they require particular attention. It is well known that NGOs lack proper support in Slovakia and their funding is insufficient given the demand for their services. NGOs therefore search for multiple sources of funding and use marketing as a tool. The monograph explains the importance of NGOs in the non-profit sector and justifies the tools they employ when navigating the commercial space.

Cieľom predmetných textov je doslova až provokatívne osloviť našich študentov tak, aby otázky spojené so zmyslom vlastnej existencie riešili samostatne a kreatívne, lebo, ako som presvedčený, naša doba je veľkou výzvou k novým, originálnym myšlienkam, k axiologickým súdom, ktoré vždy predchádzali tým kognitívnym.

This textbook is designated for the students of translation and interpreting study programmes. The increase of linguistic competence in foreign language, but also in mother tongue is an inevitable part of the preparation of translators and interpreters. The low linguistic competence is often one of the reasons of the unsatisfactory quality of translation. The main aim of this book is to provide the material for the consolidation of linguistic terminology and for the improvement of oral and written utterances in the Slovak language. Consequently, the textbook encompasses the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part summarizes the basic knowledge of language levels. In the practical part, there is the brief description of the selected orthoepic, morphological, syntactic, lexical and stylistic norms of the standard Slovak with the reference to the relevant literature offering deeper analysis of the given problem. Then practical exercises verifying the mastering of linguistic norms follow. At the end of the book, there is the little Slovak-English dictionary of the selected linguistic terms that may help students in their study of the English linguistics.

The Collection of scientific Contributions of the International scientific conference: 100 Years of Treaty of Trianon – Diplomacy, State and Law on the Turn of the Century.

The presented publication is the first of a series of proceedings published within the solution of the grant APVV-19-0419. The conference took place from 14 to 15 October 2021 with the participation of experts from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. The ambition of the research team, composed of legal historians and positive lawyers from three countries, is to provide a comprehensive, unbiased view of the peace negotiations that resulted in the Treaty of Trianon with Hungary. The conference, the result of which is the presented collection, was devoted to the causes of possible disputes in Europe - focusing on diplomacy and constitutional development of Central European countries at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, ie in the period immediately preceding the outbreak of World War I.
