The monograph deals with two fundamental aspects concerning evaluation of evidence in the law. In the first part, the monograph addresses the question: „How it is possible to apply law in individual case, if human knowledge about past is objectively limited and flawed?“ (e.g. what is the nature of truth in the law?). The second part of the monograph identifies certain models of reasoning concerning factual questions which occur across different individual legal cases (especially tax cases and criminal cases). In that regard, the monograph draws from Anglo-American legal scholarship and deals with three main concepts concerning evaluation of evidence: argumentation, probability and narratives and their role in evaluation of evidence.

The monograph is the output of the grant project APVV no. 16-0160 which deals with the issue of tax evasion and tax avoidance (especially their motivating factors, emergence, and elimination). The author believes that better understanding of evaluation of evidence may contribute to the improvement in effectiveness of tax administration.

The continuation of the tradition of an international scientific conference of PhD. students and young researchers have not been exception this year. The Department of Labour Law and Social Security Law, Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Šafarik University in Košice, as the organizer of this year's international scientific conference, has chosen a topic entitled "Protection, Prevention and Legal Liability." Because of the unfavorable epidemiological situation and the cancellation of scientific, professional and other mass events, the conference was transferred to a virtual form. The electronic platform of the conference via online discussion was realized from 3rd to 17th April 2020. The protective function of law, preventive obligations, but also the emerging responsibilities are a vast source of ideas for scientific research, asking questions and finding answers to a range of theoretical and application-law problems in every area of public and private law. Evidence of a generously understood topic is the presented proceedings of scientific papers. The proceedings, created within the solution of the grant task APVV-16-0002 -Mental Health in the Workplace and Employee Health Assessment, includes various aspects of legal regulation, from academic authors and authors from legal practice. Despite the diversity of the scientific focus, the papers are characterized by a unifying line corresponding to the central theme of the conference and show the interconnectedness of the different areas of law.

Among them 652 plant species endangered according to CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) are grown in the botanical garden as well as 39 autochtonous plant species are protected by Slovak law.

Zároveň identifikuje faktory rodinných kríz a destabilizácie rodinných vzťahov. Osobitnú pozornosť venuje práci s dysfunkčnými rodinami najmä prostredníctvom sanácie rodiny, metód, foriem a postupov, využívaných najmä pomáhajúcimi profesionálmi. Monografia sa zaoberá aj súčasnými formami párového spolunažívania a faktormi, ktoré spôsobili zmeny v tejto oblasti. Rodina je skúmaná z pohľadu pomáhajúcich profesií, najmä psychologického, sociologického, andragogického, zdravotného, právneho a ekonomického. Jednotlivé perspektívy vytvárajú ucelený pohľad na skúmanú problematiku a vytvárajú multidisciplinárny priestor pre riešenie problémov v rodinnom systéme. Funkčná rodina je základom spoločnosti a preto spoločnosť musí vytvárať nástroje na pomoc rodinám pokiaľ samé nie sú schopné riešiť problémy, ktoré ovplyvňujú ich funkčnosť.

Pod záštitou Ústavu teórie práva Gustava Radbrucha a Slovenskej sekcie Medzinárodného združenia pre právnu a sociálnu filozofiu (IVR) sa 16. mája 2019 na Právnickej fakulte UPJŠ v Košiciach uskutočnila 3 D flash-konferencia venovaná predovšetkým blížiacemu sa 29. svetovému kongresu IVR vo švajčiarskom Luzerne. V duchu hlavnej kongresovej výzvy sa témou konferencie stala „Dôstojnosť, demokracia, diverzita (Dignity, Democracy, Diversity).“
V čase konania konferencie na fakulte bolo jasné, že počet účastníkov svetového kongresu výrazne presiahne hranicu 1000 a že rokovanie kongresu bude prebiehať v 151 špeciálnych workshopoch a 28 pracovných skupinách (working groups). V rámci kongresu bol ohlásený aj okrúhly stôl s nositeľom ceny IVR za najlepšiu knihu profesorom Brianom Tamanahom - Realistic Theory of Law (Cambridge 2017), stretnutie k Encyklopédii IVR, panel k otázke akademickej slobody, ako aj stretnutie predsedov národných sekcií IVR.

Students studying biology as the single-subject or as a part of two-subject programs on various faculties of sciences are often encountered with the problem, how to limit the topics in the subject Human anatomy. This List of anatomical terms is aiming to help the non-medical students to get acquainted with the extensive anatomical nomenclature and to optimize the number of anatomical terms, which should be memorized, to preserve the sufficient capacity of the students for another knowledge of the field of systemic, comparative, developmental and functional anatomy. The emphasis on the arrangement of individual anatomical terms into the logical units supports the hierarchical view on the architecture of the human body. Despite the common opinion, anatomical nomenclature represents a framework, which is during the further study gradually enveloped with the knowledge of more or less related disciplines concerning with the human body and its biological processes. Moreover, besides this ambition, which exceeds the area of the human anatomy, this List of anatomical terms continues the long tradition with respect to the valid Latin and Slovak anatomical terminology.

The presented monograph deals with various views on of the community issue and community work, with which  area of social work or other helping professions is closely connected. This learning text deals with heart rhythm disorders. The book is intended for medical students. There are in a simple way characterized bradycardic and tachycardic heart rhythm disorders. The script explains mechanism of arrhythmias, symptoms, diagnostics, and differential diagnostics and treatment. The greatest emphasis is focused on detection of the arrhythmias based on the surface ECG. All arrhythmias are explained by clinical ECG. In conclusion, there is ECG quiz which consists of 27 clinical ECG records.

Predkladaná monografia Hovorové lexémy v publicistických textoch predstavuje originálny pohľad na analýzu a opis lexikálnych i gramatických výrazových prostriedkov v skúmanej komunikačnej oblasti.

Hlavným výskumným problémom je kolokvializácia výrazových prostriedkov ako príznaková vlastnosť vo verejne publikovaných publicistických textoch. Východiskom samotného výskumu bolo vyhľadanie lexikálnych jednotiek so štylistickým kvalifikátorom hovorovosti v Krátkom slovníku slovenského jazyka. Ich prítomnosť a frekvencia, ako aj prípadné významové posuny boli overované vo verejne prístupných mediálnych komunikátoch. Keďže ide o výskum „živého jazyka“, pramenným materiálom sú publicistické texty v datábaze Slovenského národného korpusu.

The university textbooks "Practical Exercises in Physical Chemistry" are intended as teaching literature for students of the 2nd year of the Chemistry study program and the 3rd year of the interdisciplinary study program at the Faculty of Science of the Pavel Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.

The three chapters summarize the basic knowledge of thermodynamics, electrochemistry and kinetics, the next chapter deals with the measurement of some other physico-chemical quantities. The tasks developed on the basis of cooperation with the Criminalistics and Expertise Institute of the Police in Košice, which also participates in the innovation of practical teaching, are also very attractive and interesting for students. Thematic units are updated and supplemented by new knowledge, principles as well as detailed working procedures using new instrumentation.

The aim of laboratory exercises in physical chemistry is to illustrate and confirm the physicochemical laws and correlations that apply to the quantitative description of chemical phenomena. Students will learn to use instruments and equipment that occur in physico-chemical laboratories, they will learn the principles of accurate and correct quantitative measurement of physical quantities, important from a chemical point of view. They can also develop professional and scientific communication skills, and we want to support their creative approach to making measurement protocols.

After 7 years, we finally reworked the textbook on the subject of clinical biochemistry at UPJŠ FM in Košice. We have innovated information in accordance with recommendations of professional medical societies and added new chapters. As the scope of the subject is limited, the textbook does not cover all issues of biochemical diagnostics. It focuses on disorders of water-ion and acid-base balance disorders, and basic laboratory diagnostics of diseases of selected organs.

The textbook of clinical biochemistry has the ambition to become a practical aid for senior medical students and beginning doctors in the study of laboratory medicine. It should make it easier for them to orientate themselves in routinely used clinical-biochemical examinations and could form a springboard for a more detailed studying of laboratory methods and their use in diagnostic and monitoring algorithms.
Like any medical discipline, clinical biochemistry is evolving rapidly and gradually integrating with other areas of laboratory medicine. New diagnostic methods penetrate deeper into the essence of the biochemical mechanisms of the human body, and "omic" methods are gaining ground. It is almost sure that in a few years, laboratory examination looks quite different from today. If this publication quite hypothetically reaches its next edition, many chapters will need to updated, and new chapters written following the up-to-date status.

Sprievodca onkologickou liečbou vznikol v čase, kedy sa ešte viac zdôraznil význam zdravia, ktoré sa stáva akousi megahodnotou nového moderného „pandemického“ človeka. Použitie pojmu „pandemický“ človek vznikol samozrejme v súvislosti so vznikom koronavírovej pandémie na celom svete, ale predovšetkým preto, že sa iné nebezpečné dlhodobé ochorenia, ktoré ohrozujú súčasného človeka, nejako dostávajú do úzadia. Závažnosť takýchto chorôb (akými je samozrejme aj rakovina) sa ale nezmenší tým, že sa upriamila pozornosť na niečo akútnejšie. To je veľmi dôležité si uvedomiť a nepodľahnúť ilúzii, že ak prekonáme akútne nebezpečenstvo, tak sa automaticky zlepší stav aj v dlhodobých ochoreniach. Myslíme si, že je to práve naopak, nakoľko dlhotrvajúca existencia stresu, vplyv sociálnych negatívnych a neustále pôsobiacich faktorov, medzi ktoré nesporne patrí pandemická situácia, zhoršuje nielen psychický, ale aj somatický stav.

Bedeker onkologickej liečby sa práve snaží poukázať na tie faktory – psychologické a sociálne – ktoré negatívne „podporujú“ vznik rakoviny v akejkoľvek forme a pozitívne môže ovplyvniť liečbu a vyrovnávanie sa s chorobou.

Bedeker onkologickej liečby ponúka možnosti sociálneho zapojenia sa do skupiny iných ľudí, ktorí sa takisto liečia z onkologickej choroby a umožňujú zdieľať psychologicky aj odborne obdobnú situáciu s tými, ktorí riešia podobné, ak aj nie také isté problémy v liečbe. Autorky dúfajú, že sa bedeker, ktorý vychádza knižne aj elektronicky, dostane do rúk tým, ktorých urobí samostatnejších v zdolávaní tak ťažkého nepriateľa, akým je rakovina.

The university textbook Ethics of Science and Technique (Selected Problems) is a collection of contributions by various authors who deal with selected problems and areas of science and technique. For the last hundred years, we can observe the rapid development of science and technique (technology). The transition of society in the 20th century into the information age and in the current 21st century into the digital age brings radical challenges and changes in all areas of human life, but especially in the moral field. Ethical discussions, responding to the development of science and technique (technology), have stimulated the emergence of ethics of science and technique, which as a subdiscipline of applied ethics is a way out of the conflict between professional autonomy, social control and self-regulation of action and behaviour; not only in science and technique, but also in economy and politics. In the digital age, technique, technology and science are fundamentally changing our lives; from the way we work to the way we communicate, how we fight local and global problems, and how we try to solve societal problems. These radical changes are not without controversy, and many provoke intense debates that are often polarized or associated with scientific ambiguities or dishonest demagoguery and ideology.
