Súčasná výučba chémie má svoje špecifické problémy. Na jednej strane sa v dôsledku posunutia ťažiska učiva chémie v prospech učiva teoretického, zvýšila náročnosť učiva chémie a v súvislosti s tým, sa znížil záujem žiakov o chémiu. Nezáujem žiakov o chémiu je najviac podporovaný názorom, že je to práve chémia, ktorá výrazne prispieva k zhoršovaniu kvality životného prostredia. Na druhej strane žijeme v dobe, keď sa s produktami chémie stretávame prakticky všade. Nutné je spoznať základy chémie čo najlepšie, preto je otázka zvýšenia záujmu o výučbu chémie a zvýšenia jej účinnosti veľmi aktuálna.
Do slovenských škôl vstúpili štátne vzdelávacie programy ako základ pre tvorbu školských vzdelávacích programov. Tu je kladený dôraz nielen na získavanie určitej sumy znalostí, ale na vytváranie a rozvíjanie kľúčových a špecifických kompetencií žiakov, na ich prípravu pre celoživotné vzdelávanie a uplatnenie sa v živote. Preto je stále väčšia pozornosť venovaná jednému zo základných didaktických prostriedkov pre zvýšenie aktivity žiakov vo výučbe, a tým aj zvýšenie efektívnosti výučby chémie – učebným úlohám.
Z teórie aj z praxe výučby chémie vieme, že učebné úlohy, otázky, príklady, cvičenia atď., sú jednými z dôležitých súčastí každej vyučovacej hodiny. Učebné úlohy sa uplatňujú vo všetkých fázach výučby – vo fáze motivačnej, vo fáze osvojovania učiva, vo fáze upevňovania učiva a vo fáze kontroly osvojeného učiva. Je teda zrejmé, že každý učiteľ sa ocitne skôr či neskôr v situácii, keď bude musieť učebné úlohy vyberať z učebníc, pracovných zošitov, zbierok a príkladov, alebo ich tvoriť sám.
Vedecká monografia je určená pedagogickým odborníkom i učiteľom chémie, ktorá ich má zoznámiť s ukážkami rôznych typov a foriem učebných úloh a so základmi ich tvorby v chémii a môže byť pre nich nápomocná pri tvorbe atestačných prác zameraných na tvorbu testov a ich štatistické vyhodnotenie.

Ivica Hajdučeková a kol.  

Štvorročný grantový projekt VEGA č. 1/0736/15 Metodologické prieniky do (re)interpretácie diel slovenskej a svetovej literatúry (vedúci: prof. PhDr. Ján Gbúr, CSc.), ktorý bol riešený na Katedre slovakistiky, slovanských filológií a komunikácie FF UPJŠ v Košiciach v rokoch 2015 – 2018, priniesol počas svojho trvania niekoľko výstupov. Okrem samostatných vedeckých štúdií publikovaných priebežne časopisecky, doma aj v zahraničí, bol vydaný zborník z medzinárodnej vedeckej konferencie Text v kontextoch. Text v interdisciplinárnych interpretáciách (2018) a tiež vedecká monografia Duchovnosť v (re)interpretácii diel slovenskej literatúry (2016). Túto viacročnú spoluprácu tímu spoluriešiteľov završujú dva kľúčové publikačné výstupy, ktoré tvoria komplementárny, myšlienkovo prepojený celok:
1. Metodologické inšpirácie v literárnovednom výskume I (Zborník vybraných prednášok a abstraktov),
2. Metodologické inšpirácie v literárnovednom výskume II (monografia).

Elektronický zborník abstraktov a videozáznamov z priebežne realizovaných prednáškových kolokvií – na ktorých vystúpili viaceré osobnosti zo slovenského, ale aj z českého akademického prostredia – a vedecká monografia sa koncepčne dopĺňajú. Svedčí o tom aj voľba rovnomenných názvov, číselne odlíšených, ktorými sledujeme vopred stanovený projektový zámer, t. j. nadviazať na tradíciu exaktnosti v literárnovednom výskume s akcentom na metodologický pluralizmus. Súbežne aj na propagáciu súčasného, generačne rozvrstveného bádateľského zázemia v univerzitnom priestore na východnom Slovensku, ktoré sa dlhoročne viaže (aj keď historicky divergentne) na akademické prostredie Univerzity P. J. Šafárika v Košiciach.

Do autorskej zostavy siedmich kapitol monografie boli okrem členov Katedry slovakistiky, slovanských filológií a komunikácie FF UPJŠ zaradení aj dvaja kolegovia z iných vedeckých pracovísk, a to Mgr. Jana Piroščáková (Pácalová), PhD., literárna vedkyňa zo Slovenskej akadémie vied v Bratislave, a prof. PhDr. Lubomír Machala, CSc., univerzitný profesor z Olomouca v Českej republike, ktorí svojimi príspevkami dopĺňajú nielen výskumné zameranie publikácie, ale aj symbolicky zastupujú fakt, že spolupráca na našom pracovisku nie je do seba uzavretá, ale má prirodzené odborové presahy, a to smerom k vedecko-výskumnej inštitúcii, akú Slovenská akadémia vied v Bratislave predstavuje, ale aj smerom k historicky podmienenej väzbe na český univerzitný priestor. Uvedená stratégia medziinštitucionálnej spolupráce bola uplatnená v oboch projektových výstupoch.

The aim of this textbook is to acquaint students in physics, chemistry and material science on both undergraduate and graduate level, with the techniques used to prepare micro-electromechanical devices, nanoobjects and nanostructures using the so called top down methodologies. The is no requirement for this course to pass any prior courses. The introduction part of the text defines the forces that affect nanoobjects and the interactions between them. Reader can understand in detail why properties of nanomaterials and nanostructures are so different when comprared to their macroscopic counterparts. Text gives also an overview of thin film preparation technologies as precursors for the preparation of nanostructures. The main emphasis in Volume I is on conventional lithographic technologies for the preparation and shaping of nanostructures, methods for characterization of thin films, nanoparticles and nanomaterials. Unconventional lithographic methods will also be discussed in the prepared upcoming Volume II. Student will also get acquainted with the applications of nanostructures in research focused on nanophysics, nanocatalysis and nanoelectronics. The textbook is used as a study material for the course ÚFV / MPN / 14 - Methods of preparation and characterization of nanostructures. Part of the course is also a laboratory exercise in which the student gets acquainted with the techiques used for the preparation and characterization of thin films and top-down technologies used for the preparation of nanostructures.

The aim of the current monograph is to provide comprehensive view of the status of regional judicial organs in current conditions of regionalism. Research of the role of regional courts in the system of peaceful settlement of disputes demonstrates the significant role of the regional courts within the promotion of the rule of law, regional integration and also significant role of regional courts to ensure legal certainty within the system of compliance with decisions of regional courts. The result of examination of possibilities of individuals to access to regional judicial organs is comparative evaluation of regional possibilities of individual to defend his/her rights within regional courts of various regions. Particular part of this area is the right to an effective remedy and to a fair trial as basic rights within the proceedings of regional judicial organs. Within the examination of preliminary rulings of international regional courts of different regions the role of regional judicial organs in the process of effective implementation of the principle of the rule of law was the subject of examination. For the proper functioning of the regional judicial organs as well as independence of judges and legal certainty in International law, the ethical rules of international judicial organs and tribunals, which are the subject of the last chapter, are significant.

Proceedings of the 13th Scientific Conference of Young Historians, organized by the Department of History of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice in cooperation with the State Archives in Košice and the Slovak Historical Society at the Slovak Academy of Sciences on 24 October 2023 The central theme of the conference proceedings of the scientific conference of doctoral students is the issue of power as an instance that is an inherent part of human existence and has been present in society de facto since its beginning. Since power and the desire for power are present even today, perhaps more than at any other time in the history of human society, the proceedings provide adequate answers to the questions: where is power born and from what does it originate? How do social science disciplines view those social groups that do not hold power? The publication consists of eight contributions by authors working at Slovak and Czech universities. The volume opens with a paper by Dávid Nykodým on power in the city of silver in the era of Jiří of Poděbrady. The administration of estates in the hands of widows in the 17th century (on the example of Judith Balassa) was discussed by Sabina Danková. The issue of the role of the university grand master in the monopolization of education during the First Empire 1808-1815 in France was examined by Michael Dudzik. The period between the two world wars on the territory of Czechoslovakia was mapped in their contributions by two authors: Simona Bilecová, who characterized the emergence and creation of the political elite on the example of the Rožňava region, and Dominik Šípoš, who evaluated the power of the party as an ideological problem of the Czechoslovak National Democracy. This line was continued by Patrik Beňuš, who analysed in detail the crisis in railway transport in the southern territory of Slovakia after 1938. Monika Tresová dealt with the activities of Catholic associations in Košice and their disappearance under the pressure of the communist power after 1948. Miriama Balvirčáková dealt with the power and its legitimacy, judicial rehabilitation of the victims of the communist regime in Eastern Slovakia in 1968-1971.

Čiastkovými cieľmi publikácie bolo vypracovať teoretické východiská o motivácii, pracovnej spokojnosti, výkonnosti a výkonu a ich vzájomného vzťahu; navrhnúť intervenčné opatrenia vyplývajúce z výsledkov výskumu.
Obsah práce môže prispieť čiastkovými zisteniami k pochopeniu pracovnej motivácie a výkonnosti. Publikácia je určená kruhu odborníkov, ktorí sa predmetnou problematikou zaoberajú - manažérom ľudských zdrojov a teoretikom manažmentu ľudských zdrojov.
Práca sa skladá z dvoch nosných častí. V prvej, teoretickej časti je spracovaný súčasný stav riešenej problematiky doma a v zahraničí, pričom dôraz je kladený na riešenie tejto problematiky vo verejnej správe. V tejto časti sa nachádza aj autorkin teoretický prínos v podobe všeobecného motivačno-výkonnostného modelu a aplikačný prínos v podobe návrhu intervenčných opatrení: trojúrovňového stimulačného a motivačného modelu. Informácie sú čerpané z publikácií a vedeckých štúdií renomovaných domácich a zahraničných autorov. V druhej časti je opísaná realizácia výskumu, štatistické vyhodnotenie získaných údajov pomocou metód deskriptívnej a induktívnej štatistiky, diskusia, v rámci ktorej sú komparované zistené výsledky s výsledkami iných domácich a zahraničných vedeckých štúdií.

Predložená monografia si kladie za cieľ kriticky zmapovať chápanie pojmu možných svetov. Prvá kapitola opisuje formovanie sémantiky možných svetov, spolu s naznačením niektorých problémov, ktoré so sebou prináša a ktoré prenikavým spôsobom odhaľoval predovšetkým W. V. O. Quine. V ďalších dvoch kapitolách sa práca zameriava na modernejšie názory na povahu možných svetov, pričom hlavná pozornosť je venovaná dichotómii medzi posibilistickým a aktualistickým prístupom k otázke modalít, popri ktorom je nevyhnutné posúdiť aj iné rozlíšenia (esencializmus - antiesencializmus, realizmus - redukcionizmus (príp. ersatzimus či fikcionalizmus), naturalizmus - nenaturalizmus a pod.). Zvýšená pozornosť je v práci špeciálne venovaná posibilizmu D. Lewisa a aktualistickým koncepciám S. Kripkeho, A. Plantingu, R. M. Adamsa, N. Reschera, D. Armstronga a J. Hintikku. Neštandardný prístup k problematike možných svetov je zachytený vo štvrtej kapitole. Tá je predovšetkým venovaná významnej koncepcii Jaaka Hintikku, ktorá pracuje s pojmom epistemických možných svetov a dokumentuje príklon k modifikácii a relativizácii modálneho diskurzu. Záver poskytuje zhodnotenie diskusie, ktorá sa dotýka hlavných problémov spätých s úvahami o možných svetoch. V predkladanej monografii sú objasnené niektoré reprezentatívne koncepcie možných svetov, resp. možných indivíduí a je v nej naznačený celkový postup od posudzovania možných svetov ako ideálnych logických konštruktov cez ich relativizáciu prostredníctvom oddelených oblastí indivíduí pre jednotlivé svety a ďalej prostredníctvom vzťahu dosiahnuteľnosti až k finančným, nemožným a neštandardným možným svetom.

The presented monograph is dedicated to the reforms of local administration in the middle of the 19th century, which led to the introduction of municipalism - the nationalization of local administration. The work is primarily devoted to the analysis of the differences between legal articles 42/1870 and 21/1884, the second of which has so far been considered by Slovak legal historians as an amendment. I will explain the differences in the text of both standards, as well as by pointing out the practice of applying both standards in local practice in Abov and Turňa, the legal article 21/1884 is applicable, it is recoded and after the thresholds of the Czechoslovakia it was received as an obligation of the local sparva in Slovakia and is valid even in the time of Conclusion The Trianon peace treaty.

Jaroslav Marcin - Viktória Marcinová a kol.

This little book started out in a way that probably many other scholarly publications do: When the five of us met as doctoral students and instructors in the Department of British and American Studies, we soon realized that our research overlapped on a number of points. Most prominent among those was our interest in political or politicallymotivated discourse and the study of myths and manipulation that it employed. 

In the end, we decided to pool the results of our research together in order to create a more complex picture, providing a variety of perspectives and voices. In our endeavor, we were greatly aided by the financial support we received from a grant offered by the Šafárik University. The outcome of these efforts is the five chapters of this brief, but hopefully informative and insightful monograph.

In Chapter 1, Viktória Marcinová deals with the impact of totalitarian ideology on the translation of so-called “capitalist” drama during the first stage of normalization in Slovakia (1948-1968). In Chapter 2, the focus shifts to political discourse and manipulation in a democracy, as Jaroslav Marcin takes a closer look at the wartime rhetoric of American presidents. USA remains the focus also in Chapter 3, but this time the question, addressed by Martina Martausová, will be one of the myth of the American Dream and its presentation in post-9/11 United States. A similar idea, though in a different geographical-cultural context, is dealt with in Chapter 4, where Božena Velebná identifies myths of Scottish identity as portrayed in historic films. Finally, in Chapter 5, Eduard Soták will take a look at the role of the mass media within the topic of politically-motivated discourse and spread of political ideology.

It is our hope that in this way we can contribute to a better understanding of politically-motivated discourse, manipulation and the use of myths. Through interweaving the results of our research and our analyses, we hope to provide a more complex look at the topic in question, which we feel is missing at the moment.

Both the common history and the coexistence of the two churches in one geographical area have brought diverse experiences that both churches keep in mind.

The university textbook, which deals with their history, contains basic materials for study and focuses on important milestones in their history. It contains general information about the origin of Eastern Christianity and presents in chronological order knowledge of the history of the churches that represent it in Slovakia from the 9th to the 21st century.

The research monograph is focused on studying the effectiveness of the Unplugged prevention program conducted at primary schools across Slovakia.

Using two large datasets with repeated measures, the monograph contributes to research knowledge about substance use prevention. The authors studied protective and risk factors, developmental trends of smoking and alcohol consumption as well as the effectiveness of the Unplugged prevention program – its effect on psychological and behavioural indicators of health-related behaviour.

Considering the complexity of the analyses on two datasets with 5 waves of data, each chapter is presented as a separate research study. The findings serve as a basis for recommendations for parents and teachers and also for school management at primary schools that support effective school policy aimed at the prevention and promotion of the health in schoolchildren.

In Košice, there are several universities whose students and graduates have the potential to develop themselves and their social environment. Although the current prevalence of overweight and obesity in this part of the Slovak population is not high, early prevention can influence its increased occurrence in higher age categories.

The university provides sufficient space and time for this prevention. It offers the opportunity to explore factors that play a crucial role in weight gain among university students and to propose forms of interventions for creating a healthy lifestyle. One such form was a program focusing on body weight modification, which we introduced into the physical education curriculum for students of various faculties at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, even after the grant project ended.

The publication is focused on discrete random processes, primarily on Markov chains, which have wide application in the field of economics and finance.

The textbook is divided into five chapters, the first of which serves as an introduction to random processes and provides definition, properties and classification of random processes in general. The second chapter discusses Markov chains with discrete time, including valuation of transitions between states and their optimal management. The third chapter focuses on special Markov chains with continuous time and emphasizes construction and solution to the system of Kolmogorov differential equations, which describe the dynamics of the process development. The last two chapters illustrate applications of Markov chains using examples of queuing system modeling and renewal theory.

Besides the explanation of basic terms, definitions and theorems with proofs, this textbook also provides number of solved examples to illustrate the discussed theory. Problem assignments are placed at the end of each chapter, so that readers can test their understanding of the content as they progress through the book. Solutions to all the problems and the list of references are provided at the end of the publication.

This textbook is primarily intented for students majoring in Economics and Financial Mathematics at the Faculty of Science of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and it covers content of the course “Random Proceses 1“ thought there. It might however serve also students from other schools in similar progams or professionals interested in this topic.

Nanotechnology represent the fastest developing science in the present. They are based on the technologies that enable the matter manipulation at atomic level. Nanotechnology offer prepartion of the new materials with unknown and very specific properties and functions.Recent nanotechnology still stay in formative phase of their development. But more and more they are visible with nano-specific phenomenons in the fundamental control of the properties as well mater behaviour. This is quite possible that without nanotechnology will not work any science to the future, moreover that science will not exist anymore. Nanotechnolgy will give a chance and force to transform world to more environmental and comfortable. Expected is expansion of the nanotechnolgy to molecular nanosystems – heterogenous nets, in which molecules and supramolecules work as the nanodevices. The computers and robots will be reduced to the small and ultrasmall dimensions. In medicine will foremost the application of nanotechnology in genetic therapy and elimination of ageing. Nanosurgery will work at molecular level, cancer cells will be identified early and filtered , then substituted with healthy and unchanged. It is necessary to inform university or high school students  about principles of nanotechnolgy, preparation of the nanostructures, functionality of them and to offer full representation about molecular systems and nanodevices; the methods of nanostructures characterization and about application in miniaturized systems.

Projekt bol riešený v období 1.1.2021 – 30.6.2023 a bol podporený sumou 1 916 004,79 EUR. Spolupodieľali sa na ňom tri spoluriešiteľské organizácie: Univerzita Pavla Jozefa Šafárika v Košiciach ako hlavný riešiteľ, Univerzita veterinárskeho lekárstva a farmácie v Košiciach ako partner č. 1 a Ústav experimentálnej fyziky Slovenskej akadémie vied ako partner č. 2.

Prvá kapitola monografie nesie názov Veľká východná kríza v rokoch 1875-1878 – súperenie veľmocí na Balkáne. Veľká východná kríza, ktorá vyvrcholia rusko-osmanským konfliktom a následným Berlínskym kongresom dala do pohybu mnoho procesov. Dôležitosť Berlínskeho kongresu a jeho fungovanie je v práci vykreslené z pohľadu jedného zúčastneného balkánskeho štátu a to Srbska. Kapitoly 2 až 5 zhŕňajú medzinárodný kontext a vnútorné predpoklady vytvorenia moderného bulharského a čiernohorského štátu, rovnako i detailný popis emancipácie Macedóncov a Albáncov (Albánske národné hnutie a vytvorenie nezávislého Albánska v roku 1912, Macedónska otázka na konci novoveku a možnosti jej riešenia zo strany veľmocí). Kapitola Konflikt Osmanskej ríše a Talianska o Lýbiu v rokoch  1911-1912 je popisuje vojenský stret medzi veľmocami s globálnymi následkami, ktoré de facto znamenali i pád Osmanskej ríše na európskom kontinente.Kapitola Definitívny pád Osmanskej ríše na európskom kontinente: prvá a druhá balkánska vojna predstavuje chronologický záver monografie a prináša pohľad na najdôležitejšie udalosti balkánskych vojen, armády i fenomény, ktoré doteraz boli v rámci tejto otázky vnímané iba okrajovo (etnické čistky, mobilizácia, propaganda a i.).  Záver práce a kapitola Zahraničná politika Srbska a problematika Bosny a Hercegoviny pred vypuknutím 1. svetovej vojny sa zameriava na hodnotenie srbských ašpirácií (či už ideologických alebo reálnych) smerom k priestoru Bosny a Hercegoviny.

Otázky človeka, jeho bytia, násilie znepokojujú ľudí od najdávnejších čias ľudskej spoločnosti a sú nemalými problémami aj v prítomnosti. V tejto pôvodnej práci, ktorej predchádzali viaceré štúdie autora (najpodrobnejšie Kafka, 2002), sa zameriavam na opísanie násilia vo všetkých základných formách, čo je jednou z jej osobitostí. Podávam operačný výmer násilia:

Násilie je vedomá ľudská činnosť využívajúca ako prostriedok násilného činu fyzickú alebo psychickú silu na ovplyvnenie druhého človeka (pri pôsobení na seba ide o zvláštny prípad násilia), ktorý potom koná pod vplyvom tohto pôsobenia nedobrovoľne, z donútenia.

Nazdávam sa, že násilie charakterizuje určitá situácia, v ktorej sa stretávajú najmenej dvaja ľudia: aktér násilia a obeť násilia, alebo sa stretajú dvaja aktéri a jeden z nich sa zvyčajne stane obeťou. To je však osobitný prípad, ktorým sa teraz nebudem zaoberať. Ak je násilie zamerané proti vlastnej osobe, je aktér násilia súčasne aj obeťou. Aktér, ktorého osobnosť a motívy bývajú rôzne, začína násilný čin využívajúc pritom viaceré prostriedky a pôsobí nimi na druhého človeka, ktorého núti vykonávať svoju vôľu, čím sa tento stáva obeťou. Celý akt má určité následky. Napadnutý sa môže brániť tak, že násilie zvládne alebo to môže skončiť tragicky, keď násiliu podľahne. Táto relatívne jednoduchá reakcia sa stáva zložitejšou pri skupinovej forme násilia a celkom neprehľadnou pri hromadnom násilí.

Opisujem tieto základné formy násilia:

• - násilie proti vlastnej osobe vrátane samovraždy,
• - násilie individuálne, spôsobené jedným aktérom násilia,
• - násilie skupinové, charakterizované malými skupinami,
• - násilie hromadné alebo kolektívne medzi veľkými skupinami, vrátane vojen a revolúcií,
• - násilie proti neživej a živej prírode.

Práca končí krátkou analýzou liečby násilného správania a dôsledkov násilia s možnosťami jej prevencie. Opieram sa aj o vlastné skúsenosti s prejavmi násilia v psychiatrických zariadeniach. Nazdávam sa, že je to práca veľmi aktuálna, informatívna, ale aj pôvodná, lebo podáva v koncentrovanej podobe celý rozsiahly fenomén násilia s jeho základnými charakteristikami. Podobnú prácu v našej literatúre nemáme.

Ústrednou témou konferencie je násilie v sociálnej práci. Násilie sa v sociálnej práci vyskytuje v rôznych formách. Či už ako práca s klientmi – obeťami rôznych typov násilia, alebo ako práca s agresívnym klientom, keď obeťou je sám sociálny pracovník. Násilie v spoločnosti prudko narastá a sociálna práca je vedou, ktorá sa spoločnosti nutne musí prispôsobovať; je to jej podstata. Preto zvládanie agresívnych situácií v akejkoľvek podobe je pre sociálneho pracovníka dôležitou súčasťou osobnostnej výbavy. Žiaľ, aj ochrana sociálneho pracovníka pred násilím sa postupne stane nutnosťou a nás možno v budúcnosti neminie nácvik sebaobrany a znižovania agresivity ako súčasť prípravy na povolanie, či celoživotného vzdelávania. Zámerom tohoto zborníka je priblížiť odbornej aj laickej verejnosti problematiku násilia v sociálnej práci z rôznych uhlov pohľadu. Veríme, že sa tomuto vážnemu problému bude venovať čoraz viac pozornosti a že jednotlivé príspevky pomôžu čitateľovi pochopiť rozsah problému násilia v sociálnej práci.

Zriadenie cvičebne fyziológie rastlín na Katedre botaniky PF UPJŠ v Košiciach v roku 1969 bolo spojené s menom Ing. Štefana Kocúrika, CSc. (1923 - 2006), ktorý spracoval aj prvé „Návody na cvičenia z fyziológie rastlín“ (Košice 1972, 1976). Od roku 1980 sa využívala príručka doc. RNDr. Karola Erdelského, CSc. a Ing. Fridricha Friča, DrSc. „Praktikum a analytické metódy vo fyziológii rastlín“ (Bratislava 1980).
Po zvýšení počtu študentov, sa v roku 1991 ukázalo aktuálnym vydať „Návody na cvičenia z fyziológie rastlín“ v záujme lepšej prípravy a efektívnej organizácie práce na cvičeniach. Doc. RNDr. A. Košturiak, CSc. svojimi podnetnými radami prispel k podstatnému rozšíreniu úvodnej časti návodov, za čo sú mu autori zaviazaní vďakou.
Pre štvrté vydanie sme inovovali a modernizovali niektoré úlohy a zohľadnili sme možnosti inovovanej praktikárne. Výber úloh sme prispôsobili aktuálnemu rozsahu cvičení jednotlivých predmetov fyziológie rastlín v bakalárskych a magisterských študijných programoch biológie a ekológie. Ide o predmety: Fyziológia rastlín, Metabolizmus rastlín, Minerálna výživa rastlín, Rast a vývin rastlín a Ekológia rastlín. Niektoré úlohy sú vhodné tiež pre stredoškolské pokusy. Výber tém ovplyvnila výskumná orientácia nášho pracoviska na sekundárny metabolizmus, ekofyziológiu a liečivé rastliny. V návodoch sa spravidla pridržiavame jednotiek SI sústavy, niekedy uvádzame iné zaužívané jednotky.

Epidemiológia je samostatný vedný odbor, ktorý sa zaoberá štúdiom procesu vzniku a šírenia ochorení, navrhuje opatrenia na ochranu a zlepšenie zdravia a kontroluje ich účinnosť. Jej hlavným cieľom je prispievať k znižovaniu chorobnosti a úmrtnosti, k ochrane a upevňovaniu zdravia, ako aj k predĺženiu života a zlepšeniu jeho kvality u jednotlivcov a v populácii.

Aj napriek tomu, že dominantné postavenie v celkovej morbidite a mortalite vo vyspelých krajinách majú v súčasnosti chronické neinfekčné ochorenia, epidémie infekčných ochorení sa vyskytujú stále. Dnešná doba so sebou prináša nové hrozby, ktorým musí epidemiológia, ale aj iné vedné odbory (napr. verejné zdravotníctvo, infektológia, cestovná medicína a pod.) čeliť. Ide najmä o infekcie vyvolané novými alebo novo sa objavujúcimi patogénmi, zmeny životného prostredia a životného štýlu, klimatické zmeny, rastúca rezistencia na antibiotiká, odmietanie očkovania, chudoba a pod.

Prvý diel predkladaných učebných textov prináša informácie týkajúce sa epidemiologického vyšetrovania v ohnisku nákazy, prehľad o klasifikácii infekčných chorôb z pohľadu epidemiológa a podrobnejšie sa venuje problematike črevných nákaz. Samostatná kapitola je venovaná modelovým situáciám, ktoré prispejú k pochopeniu danej problematiky a zvládnutiu obdobných situácií priamo v praxi.    

Učebné texty sú prioritne určené študentom bakalárskeho a magisterského štúdia odboru Verejné zdravotníctvo, ale určite si v ňom množstvo informácii nájdu aj študenti Všeobecného lekárstva a študenti ďalších bakalárskych a magisterských odborov Lekárskej fakulty UPJŠ v Košiciach.

Disasters, whether natural or industrial, have a serious impact on the functioning of society and are a negative phenomenon which, with the increasing impact of climate change, is increasingly affecting the sustainable development and prosperity of States. Their increasing regularity and intensity affect the current evolution not only of social life, but also of legal debates on the necessity of responding to international and national disaster response, eliminating their negative consequences and protecting affected persons. No State is immune to the occurrence of disasters, and this also applies to the Slovak Republic, which is mostly affected by sudden natural disasters, namely floods, landslides, droughts, fires, windstorms and snow calamities.

The subject of this publication is the proposal of the methodological guidelines regulating the activities of NGOs in case of disaster, as well as cooperation with the state affected by the disaster, and the glossary of legal terms which need to be clear and unified in case of disaster. Slovak and English version of the proposal is basic precondition of its usability not only for the state organs of the Slovak republic and Slovak NGOs, but also for foreign NGOs.The Proposal of the methodological guidelines is the result of the research project VVGS-PCOV 2018-459: Návrh metodického postupu mimovládnych organizácií v prípade katastrofy v podmienkach Slovenskej republiky (The Proposal of the methodological guidelines for the non-governmental organisations in case of disaster in conditions of the Slovak republic).

This electronic material provides the basic principles of creating a systematic nomenclature of organic compounds, from the simplest hydrocarbons to the more complicated nomenclature of carbohydrates. For some groups of derivatives, alternative ways of generating system names are also mentioned, as well as the most common trivial names that are still in use in the literature and in practice, in some cases being the characteristic (dominant) ones. In the introductory section, the basic rules to be respected when writing names of organic compounds are discussed. This document is intended primarily for interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate students as support material for the courses Organic Chemistry and Selected Chapters in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. In the final section of this document, solved examples are given so that the student can check how the rules for forming the names of organic compounds have been understood.

Proceedings of Extended Abstracts from Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference

Conference proceedings comprise extended abstracts from contributions that were presented during the conference Negative consequences of performing helping professions II – Psychological, social and health aspects of performing helping professions, which was held on 12th of June 2019 in Košice. The conference was organized as one of the outputs of the research project APVV 14-0921 Self-care as a factor of coping with the negative consequences of the practicizing the helping professions. Abstracts present either original research by the authors or summaries of the authors' findings in their long-term research activities focused on helping professions. One of the ambitions of the conference was to create a space for dialogue between academics and professionals working in helping professions. The interdisciplinary character of the conference has brought new ideas and perception of this issue, which has also been reflected in the rich response during the discussions. Professionals from field of psychology, social work, occupational medicine and behavioral medicine participated actively or passively in the conference. Thus, the enriching aspect of the resulting proceedings is the interconnection of applied and theoretical studies related to wide range of helping professions.

Despite the wide range of high quality textbooks offered on the Slovak market there is no publication with colorful pictures and schemes that can serve as an principal tool for practical and theoretical teaching of neuroanatomy for future psychologists in non-medical academic programmes of Arts and Science Faculties. Following new trends in methods of teaching, it is necessary to pay more attention to quality, depth, and effectiveness of education.

Such kind of illustrated textbook with the interesting graphic design should connect this important morphological subject and clinical medicine to understand the nervous system in the clinical context. This publication was created by using of original, new detailed pictures, and graphic schemes and was supplemented with a short clinical notes. It will be very helpfull to understand the details of neuroanatomical structures and brain regions.

We hope that originality and details of this book will find its application in studies of neuroanatomy for psychologists.
