Možné svety z pohľadu logickej sémantiky a analytickej filozofie

Štvorročný grantový projekt VEGA č. 1/0736/15 Metodologické prieniky do (re)interpretácie diel slovenskej a svetovej literatúry (vedúci: prof. PhDr. Ján Gbúr, CSc.), ktorý bol riešený na Katedre slovakistiky, slovanských filológií a komunikácie FF UPJŠ v Košiciach v rokoch 2015 – 2018, priniesol počas svojho trvania niekoľko výstupov. Okrem samostatných vedeckých štúdií publikovaných priebežne časopisecky, doma aj v zahraničí, bol vydaný zborník z medzinárodnej vedeckej konferencie Text v kontextoch. Text v interdisciplinárnych interpretáciách (2018) a tiež vedecká monografia Duchovnosť v (re)interpretácii diel slovenskej literatúry (2016). Túto viacročnú spoluprácu tímu spoluriešiteľov završujú dva kľúčové publikačné výstupy, ktoré tvoria komplementárny, myšlienkovo prepojený celok:
1. Metodologické inšpirácie v literárnovednom výskume I (Zborník vybraných prednášok a abstraktov),
2. Metodologické inšpirácie v literárnovednom výskume II (monografia).

Elektronický zborník abstraktov a videozáznamov z priebežne realizovaných prednáškových kolokvií – na ktorých vystúpili viaceré osobnosti zo slovenského, ale aj z českého akademického prostredia – a vedecká monografia sa koncepčne dopĺňajú. Svedčí o tom aj voľba rovnomenných názvov, číselne odlíšených, ktorými sledujeme vopred stanovený projektový zámer, t. j. nadviazať na tradíciu exaktnosti v literárnovednom výskume s akcentom na metodologický pluralizmus. Súbežne aj na propagáciu súčasného, generačne rozvrstveného bádateľského zázemia v univerzitnom priestore na východnom Slovensku, ktoré sa dlhoročne viaže (aj keď historicky divergentne) na akademické prostredie Univerzity P. J. Šafárika v Košiciach.

Do autorskej zostavy siedmich kapitol monografie boli okrem členov Katedry slovakistiky, slovanských filológií a komunikácie FF UPJŠ zaradení aj dvaja kolegovia z iných vedeckých pracovísk, a to Mgr. Jana Piroščáková (Pácalová), PhD., literárna vedkyňa zo Slovenskej akadémie vied v Bratislave, a prof. PhDr. Lubomír Machala, CSc., univerzitný profesor z Olomouca v Českej republike, ktorí svojimi príspevkami dopĺňajú nielen výskumné zameranie publikácie, ale aj symbolicky zastupujú fakt, že spolupráca na našom pracovisku nie je do seba uzavretá, ale má prirodzené odborové presahy, a to smerom k vedecko-výskumnej inštitúcii, akú Slovenská akadémia vied v Bratislave predstavuje, ale aj smerom k historicky podmienenej väzbe na český univerzitný priestor. Uvedená stratégia medziinštitucionálnej spolupráce bola uplatnená v oboch projektových výstupoch.

Skriptá Lectiones grammaticae Latinae I sú primárne určené pre študentov 1. ročníka špecializácie Latinský jazyk a literatúra na FF UPJŠ v Košiciach. Vznikli z praktickej potreby ľahko dostupnou formou (elektronicky) sprístupniť študentom preberané gramatické učivo v takej postupnosti, v akej nasleduje v jednotlivých lekciách používanej cvičebnice latinského jazyka. Z toho dôvodu obsahujú i gramatické javy presahujúce oblasť latinskej morfológie, ktorá tvorí hlavnú náplň gramatického kurzu v 1. roku štúdia. V prípade potreby sú však využiteľné aj pre iné študijné odbory, ktoré majú ako súčasť študijného programu latinský jazyk.

The Textbook is based on the output of the twelveth year of the student scientific conference held in December 2023. The student scientific conference is a study subject included in the study plans of the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ, implemented since 2011 and aims to offer space for Bc. and Mgr. degree students to present fragments of their primary research as part of the creation of their bachelor and master thesis. The aim of the presented Textbook is not only to publish these thematically broad-spectrum texts, but also to target the effort for above-standard pedagogical activities and the added value of university studies towards students in the form of publication output.This year's anthology contains 6 texts with a chronological framing from the Middle Ages to the history of the 20th century.

The university textbook Lingua Latina – a workbook for philologists is a parallel study material to the textbook Lingua Latina – cursus communis. It is designed for practicing grammatical material at home. The content of the exercises corresponds to the focus of individual lessons in the mentioned textbook, both in terms of the covered grammatical phenomena and vocabulary. For this reason, only vocabulary that was not part of the lessons covered in the textbook is included in the exercises.

A Latin-Slovak dictionary at the end of the workbook contains the entire vocabulary from both the workbook and the textbook. A Slovak-Latin dictionary includes the vocabulary from exercises that require translation into Latin. The vocabulary of this workbook is oriented towards the needs of students specializing in philology and, with regard to the selection of source materials, also includes non-classical lexicon or non-classical meanings of classical words (this lexicon is marked with an asterisk). The workbook includes a key that allows students to directly verify the correctness of their work.

The textbook Lingua Latina – a workbook for philologists is available electronically in PDF format. As part of the educational program, online tests available on the KKF FF UPJŠ website (https://www.upjs.sk/filozoficka-fakulta/katedra-klasickejfilologie/katedra/) also serve to practice the covered material.

This little book started out in a way that probably many other scholarly publications do: When the five of us met as doctoral students and instructors in the Department of British and American Studies, we soon realized that our research overlapped on a number of points. Most prominent among those was our interest in political or politicallymotivated discourse and the study of myths and manipulation that it employed. 

In the end, we decided to pool the results of our research together in order to create a more complex picture, providing a variety of perspectives and voices. In our endeavor, we were greatly aided by the financial support we received from a grant offered by the Šafárik University. The outcome of these efforts is the five chapters of this brief, but hopefully informative and insightful monograph.

In Chapter 1, Viktória Marcinová deals with the impact of totalitarian ideology on the translation of so-called “capitalist” drama during the first stage of normalization in Slovakia (1948-1968). In Chapter 2, the focus shifts to political discourse and manipulation in a democracy, as Jaroslav Marcin takes a closer look at the wartime rhetoric of American presidents. USA remains the focus also in Chapter 3, but this time the question, addressed by Martina Martausová, will be one of the myth of the American Dream and its presentation in post-9/11 United States. A similar idea, though in a different geographical-cultural context, is dealt with in Chapter 4, where Božena Velebná identifies myths of Scottish identity as portrayed in historic films. Finally, in Chapter 5, Eduard Soták will take a look at the role of the mass media within the topic of politically-motivated discourse and spread of political ideology.

It is our hope that in this way we can contribute to a better understanding of politically-motivated discourse, manipulation and the use of myths. Through interweaving the results of our research and our analyses, we hope to provide a more complex look at the topic in question, which we feel is missing at the moment.

The audio-exercise workbook “Pán doktor, rozumiete po slovensky?”is a follow-up to the textbook “Pán doktor, hovoríte po slovensky?” (Madárová et al.)and is intended for international students of Slovak as a foreign language in the medical environment.

This workbook provides the students with an opportunity to practise and enhance mostly their listening skills and pronunciation through various short dialogues between doctors and patients in the Slovak language. Dialogues contain the vocabulary used in the textbook Pán doktor, hovoríte po slovensky?.  Students are encouraged to build their confidence in speaking Slovak by practising these dialogues in the new workbook.

The audio-exercise workbook is comprised of 16 units. Each unit offers short dialogues and recordings

A number of dialogues enable its wide use for self-studying while the most frequent phrases related primarily to body parts, signs and symptoms of illnesses, diseases or various medical conditions are practised in different contexts in a variety of exercises.

Original illustrations enable students to understand dialogues more easily and the correct answers of the exercises and the scripts of the recordings can be found in the Answer key at the end of the workbook.

The e-Slovak textbook for dentists in practice - case studies is intended for foreign students of dentistry. It is primarily intended for students of the Slovak language as a foreign language, but the knowledge of the grammatical and lexical basics of the Slovak language at the A1, A2 level is needed.

The textbook consists of eight lessons, which are focused on listening comprehension (audio recordings), vocabulary expansion, systematisation of grammar and development of speech skills (case studies). The two lessons consist of repetitive, concluding exercises. The primary goal of the textbook is to connect language training with professional dental practice.

Zborník príspevkov z III. ročníka Vedeckej konferencie študentov a mladých vedeckých pracovníkov konanej 23. mája 2014 Katedrou politológie Filozofickej fakulty Univerzity Pavla Jozefa Šafárika v Košiciach

Dňa 23. mája 2014 sa na pôde Katedry politológie FF UPJŠ uskutočila konferencia pod názvom „Výzvy a prespektívy vnútornej a zahraničnej politiky“, ktorá bola v poradí už treťou Konferenciou študentov a mladých vedeckých pracovníkov organizovanou Katedrou politológie v spolupráci s OZ Res Publica. Na konferencii vystúpilo mnoho mladých ľudí zaujímajúcich sa o politické problémy súčasného sveta, pričom každý z nich svojím vystúpením nastolil jednu z tém týkajúcu sa domácej alebo zahraničnej politiky. Možno konštatovať, že tieto vystúpenia boli na vysokej odbornej úrovni a podnietili diskusiu o nastolených témach či problémoch.

Publikácia, ktorú držíte v rukách, je súborom odborných prác študentov a mladých odborníkov, ktorí sa venovali štúdiu viacerých tém. Niektorí autori sa venovali skôr otázkam zahraničnej politiky, predovšetkým analýze politík vybraných štátov (Slovenská republika, USA), riešili problematiku iránskeho jadrového programu či skúmali možnosti federalizácie Ukrajiny ako spôsobu riešenia vzniknutej situácie. Pohľad na problematiku zahraničnej politiky z pozície slovenských emigrantov v Austrálii priniesol ďalší z príspevkov.

Napriek širokému spektru tém, ktorým sa autori v jednotlivých príspevkoch venovali, je možné nájsť ich spoločného menovateľa, ktorým je snaha poukázať na určitý problém či navrhnúť jeho riešenie a tým jednak prispievať k napĺňaniu ideálu demokracie, k zlepšeniu fungovania a tvorby politiky, ale predovšetkým k tomu, aby bol tento svet lepším miestom pre život nás všetkých.

The university textbook Citizenship of the European Union is structured into four parts. The first chapter focuses on the characteristics of citizenship in a historical context (concepts of citizenship in the ancient, medieval and modern periods). The second chapter deals with a theoretical introduction to citizenship. It comes up with the characteristics of citizenship, introduces the ways of acquiring and losing citizenship and the transformations of citizenship in the context of globalization and multiculturalism. The third chapter focuses on European Union citizenship itself, its historical development and the process of introducing and strengthening citizenship in the European Union. The fourth chapter presents the specific rights of citizens deriving from European Union citizenship - the right to free movement, the right to vote and stand as a candidate in municipal and European Parliament elections, the right to diplomatic and consular protection in the territory of a third country, the right to petition the institutions of the European Union, the right of access to documents of the institutions and bodies of the Union, and the right of initiative of the citizens of the European Union.

Rozhodovanie sa je našou každodennou činnosťou, či už ide o rozhodnutie o takých bežných záležitostiach, ako čo si dáme na raňajky alebo o tom, pre akú prácu sa rozhodneme po skončení školy. Práve kvôli ďalekosiahlym dôsledkom, ktoré môže mať jedno rozhodnutie na celý náš život, ide o oblasť, ktorej bola v psychológii venovaná veľká pozornosť. Veď klasické ciele psychológie ako popísanie, vysvetlenie či predvídanie ľudského správania sú vlastne pokusmi o vysvetlenie rozhodovania, snahou o nájdenie a popísanie faktorov, ktoré naň pôsobia. Snažia sa o to základné psychologické disciplíny ako psychológia emócií a motivácie, kognitívna psychológia, sociálna psychológia či psychológia osobnosti. V predkladanom texte prevláda najmä kognitívny prístup, sústreďujúci sa na proces spracovania a využívania informácií. Keďže je len veľmi málo skutočností, ktorých výskytom v budúcnosti si môžeme byť úplne istí, základnými pojmami sú slová vyjadrujúce neurčitosť smerom do budúcnosti, ako sú neistota, riziko, objektívna a subjektívna pravdepodobnosť. Hlavnou otázkou je teda spracovanie informácií prichádzajúcich z prostredia a proces ich využitia v procese tvorby rozhodnutí. Sú popísané faktory, ktoré vplývajú na formovanie úsudkov i na tvorbu konečného rozhodnutia. Keď sa pozrieme napr. na príčiny finančnej a následnej ekonomickej krízy, začínajúcej v roku 2008, vidíme že jedným z hlavných faktorov jej vzniku bolo nesprávne vnímanie pravdepodobností, považovanie rizikových investícií za veľmi bezpečné. Dúfam, že predkladaný text napomôže k efektívnejšiemu usudzovaniu a rozhodovaniu, aby sa vám podobné osobné krízy, ktoré by mohli byť následkom nesprávneho úsudku, vyhli. Istým opodstatnením vydania učebného textu je aj nedostatok pôvodnej literatúry venujúcej sa prezentovanej problematike, aj keď už aj v našich podmienkach je psychológia rozhodovania oblasťou záujmu stále väčšieho počtu výskumníčok a výskumníkov.

Social work with a group, along with social work with individuals, social work with the community and social work with society, is one of the basic methods used in the field of social work, but also in other helping professions. The work of a social worker requires knowledge of these methods but also of the techniques through which these methods are implemented and fulfilled. Understanding and acquiring individual methods for the needs of social practice requires the theoretical mastery of those institutes that are the basis of the method and the interrelationships between these institutes. Therefore, the author proceeded to elaborate a university textbook in which she focuses on one of the basic methods of social work, namely social work with a group.

The university textbook is designed for university students who are focused on social work studies, but also psychology, ethics and other disciplines using the method of working with a group, as it aims to present some facts about social groups and behaviour in them.

The author offers an insight into social work with the group from its historical foundations to today's latest knowledge of this method in accordance with the latest research of work with the group.

The current sixth volume of the Doctoral Miscellanea consists of eight contributions from four study programs, with two contributions also involving authors outside of doctoral studies. Given the limitations on the length of individual contributions and the uniqueness of the research, the authors have chosen varying widths and depths in presenting their dissertation topics. Some contributions serve as an introduction to the issues, others provide a summary of previous results, and still others focus on a detailed analysis of a specific problem. These three approaches may not only reveal the stage of research in which the doctoral candidate finds themselves but also their potential research priorities.

The main commonality across all issues of the proceedings remains interdisciplinary diversity, which shows a certain continuity. Specific themes appear regularly. In these cases, alongside alternating doctoral candidates, the key figure is the supervisor (in the role of co-author) and their research focus/project in which the doctoral candidates participate. This development of research continuity is particularly evident in contributions from the field of social work.

The present peer-reviewed collection of contributions titled “Metanoia in social work theory and practice” is an output of the 9^th year of Košické dni sociálnej práce, an online conference with international attendance held on the 26^th of November 2021. As the name of the conference implies, the pivotal topic of submitted contributions is metanoia, which represents a change in life attitude. Various interesting and actual issues concerning diverse aspects of social work are discussed in the individual contributions.

The present collection comprises contributions oriented towards the issues of social pathology and its prevention, supervision, the importance of digital technologies in social work, research methods, self-care and so forth. The collection further contains several contributions devoted to the exceptionally actual issues of radicalism and extremism, which are widespread and serious occurrences in the present time. The contributions are highly original and beneficial from the point of view of theoretical conceptions and methodological procedures apart from offering quality empirical processing and interesting results.
