The presented educational text provides a comprehensive view of the emergence and development of physical culture, physical education, and sports both in our country and worldwide. Its content focuses on acquiring basic concepts and issues related to the history of physical culture.

The text is intended primarily for students of sports disciplines in full-time and external studies, as well as for the general public interested in the historical development of physical culture in our country and abroad. According to Sýkora (1992), physical culture has been a part of societal and personal culture since the dawn of humanity, encompassing all methods and results of enduring human activity aimed at shaping one's physical and motor attributes and abilities.

The first chapter focuses on the analysis of historical sources, their types, and methods for determining facts. In subsequent chapters, we present a chronological overview of the development of various historical periods from the earliest times of human existence to the present, with an emphasis on physical culture.

The final chapter characterizes physical culture in the independent era of Slovakia.

The first study, which concentrates on the characteristics of teachers' work, describes broader theoretical foundations and defines basic concepts related to work.

It also provides an analysis of the work of university teachers, identifying several shortcomings. The research findings revealed significant differences in the time demands of tasks performed by teachers and in the perceived importance of these tasks. Teachers utilize their working time fund beyond 100%, and it can be expected that the teacher population considers their tasks as rather important to definitely important. There is a relationship between the estimated time demands of certain tasks and the perceived importance of these tasks. Based on the findings, conclusions and proposals for intervention measures are formulated, and a construct of key competencies of university teachers is presented, which includes basic, social, pedagogical, research, and managerial competencies.

The second study analyzes the level of satisfaction, self-fulfillment, competencies in teachers' work, and the prestige of the teaching profession in relation to gender, academic rank, seniority, and the specific field of expertise.

The third study, which deals with the topic of teacher career, provides an overview of theoretical foundations of career.

The aim of the scripts was to address the issue of communication and apply it to public administration organizations. The scripts begin by elaborating on the topic of information, which is an essential component of every communication process. The content of subsequent chapters focuses on the objectives and tasks of communication within an organization, various types of communication, barriers that may arise in communication, strategies for improving communication effectiveness in an organization, and specific communication strategies regularly encountered in different organizations.

Emphasis is also placed on the communication skills of managers, without which they would not be able to effectively manage the organization and lead their subordinates toward achieving organizational goals.

Aging of the population is a process typical for European Union countries. Issues of aging and the position of seniors in society are becoming permanently relevant in economic, psychological, ethical, cultural, health-social, and even philosophical dimensions. It involves the need to purposefully support health, but also to care for sick and dependent individuals, to improve their health status and their ability to function in society, to offer health-promoting programs, and to strive to extend their active age.

An active approach to health, health culture, and competence is currently becoming not only a societal obligation but primarily an individual one. In a societal sense, it involves the relevant and knowledgeable creation of conditions for the optimal influence of health determinants and a healthy lifestyle, while in an individual sense, it involves the formation, stabilization, and subsequent internalization of healthy lifestyle principles to reflect the potential, experience, age, and possibilities of the individual.

It is true that the defining position of individual responsibility and personal behavior primarily defines the need for purposeful and intentional health support.

Physical activity is globally understood by the professional community as one of the most important factors in addressing public health prevention issues. Trends in modern lifestyles tend towards a sedentary way of life, both in the workplace and especially in leisure time.

A passive lifestyle thus affects the health of every individual. For many years, physical education experts have been appealing to the general public and pointing out the numerous risks associated with neglecting physical activity in any age category. One of the serious manifestations of a lack of physical activity is excessive weight gain. The ever-increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity, especially its occurrence in increasingly younger age categories, makes obesity one of the most serious risk factors and one of the biggest problems worldwide.

Its globalization is mainly caused by the consumption of high-energy foods and a lack of physical activity in daily routines. The rise in overweight and obesity is the result of an inadequate energy intake relative to its expenditure - insufficient physical activity

Today, you have before you the proceedings encompassing contributions presented by participants of this conference. In preparing it, the editors had to deal with the diversity of the participants' profiles, which was reflected in the authors' approaches to the issues they addressed, and subsequently had the contributions reviewed by experts from various fields. The individual contributions address traditional topics, as well as newer and emerging themes, reflecting current problems and questions related to human capital, organizational behavior, and primarily, public administration.

At the conference, researchers specializing in management, psychology, political science, social work, sociology, anthropology, linguistics, as well as individuals who do not belong to just one scientific discipline, came together. It was interesting to see how people from different disciplines view the same phenomenon. The conference demonstrated that an interdisciplinary approach can highlight the shortcomings in identifying and understanding problems from the perspective of just one discipline.

Tourism is fast developing industry today. New sorts of tourism are created this days and maritime sailing is one of them. Maritime sailing is available for common people now. It is not known whether maritime sailing is attractive for Slovak client of tourism. The scientific monograph is explorative.

The aim of the work is to ascertain preferences of clients in regard to characteristics of a specific product of tourism which consists of excursions of maritime yachting. The data were collected by a questionary which was created for this purpose. The data were processed to percents and we also used tests of significance for percents. We determined 5% of error as a significant level. The research group created 573 future clients in form of university students from which 200 were men and 373 were women. Approximately, 70% of students perceive maritime sailing as pleasure and attractive activity and do not fear seasickness. 85% of respondents think that maritime sailing is not available concerning price for ordinary people. Only 24% of questioned people and more men as women (significance 0.01) perceive maritime sailing as dangerous. Almost 46,25% think that they do not manage position a member of crew and that the captain’s license will be not useful for them.

80% of questioned students is willing to buy excursion of maritime sailing, half of respondents is interested in All Inclusive type of excursion with a cook and on catamaran and approximately 60% of people prefer accommodation in saloon.

Štandardná práca v pracovnom pomere na neurčitý čas a na plný úväzok je na ústupe, rozširujú sa najrôznejšie formy atypických zamestnaní. Osobitná regulácia právneho postavenia zamestnaných osôb môže byť  determinantom ovplyvňujúcim zachovávanie dôstojnosti a ich ochrany v pracovnom procese. Osobitné kategórie zamestnancov, ktorým v tejto monografii venujeme pozornosť sú určitým spôsobom „povýšené“ z hľadiska ochrany a  u niektorých  kategórií zamestnancov zaznamenávame práve medzerovitosť v ochrannej zložke pracovného práva. Trendom vývoja pracovného práva je okrem iného prirodzená miera upúšťania od prílišnej kogentnosti a rigidnosti právnej úpravy. On May 28, 2015, the Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, in cooperation with the organizing and scientific committee, organized a scientific conference with international participation titled "Current Challenges and Problems of Public Administration II. – Perspectives of Municipal Policy in Slovakia after the 2014 Elections."

The conference content followed up on the conference "Current Problems and Challenges of Public Administration I.," which was held on November 21, 2012, and laid the foundation for a series of conferences dedicated to the important issue of public administration. The conference focused on a broad range of problems related to public administration from the perspective of its understanding as an academic discipline in connection with political science, law, ethical aspects, economics, digitalization, and public administration management, with a focus on the perspectives of municipal policy.

The authors in their contributions did not remain only at the theoretical and generally descriptive level but sought to address existing problems by formulating proposals and possible ways to solve them in the application to public administration practice. The authors and editors believe that this collection of papers will have a positive contribution not only for theorists and students of the Faculty of Public Administration but also for representatives and professionals from practice who are daily confronted with issues of public administration.

The second revised and extended edition of University textbook Organizational Behavior is the work of an international team of authors. University teachers of two Slovak universities and two Czech universities are the authors of this book. Problem areas of organizational behavior and its processing comprehensively was the intention of the authors. University textbook is complemented by 10 chapters, other chapters are significantly revised. University textbook is thematically divided into five parts. The first part treats the issue of organizational behavior as a discipline. Organizational behavior is theoretically defined, there is indicated the subject matter of the discipline, relationship with other sciences, historical and scientific foundations of organizational behavior. There are also presented knowledge about formal organizations and bureaucracy. Final of the first part is dedicated to social science research and social audit in organizations. The second part is called Individual aspects of organizational behavior and there are included themes as personality, work and its role in human life, job satisfaction, work motivation and loyalty of employees. This part is complemented by the issue of personality, competency and power of manager and career issues. Interpersonal interaction and group processes in an organization is the name of the third part of the book. It includes the chapters as working group, team and team roles, leadership and its impact on human personality, communication, performance management, friendships and loneliness in the organization. This section was complemented by the issue of interculturar communication in the international organizational context, conflicts in the workplace and workplace misbehavior. Fourth, complemented part is called Resources and means of ensuring employees and there are included themes such as external and internal mobility of workers, personal marketing, and unemployed as a potential source of workforce and talent management. The fifth part is called The organization as a culture and organizational dynamics. Authors included topics such as organizational culture, social responsibility of organizations and added the themes ethics on workplace, change management and radical change – reengineering. University textbook presents current theoretical knowledge and also the results of relevant research. Contents of chapters are complemented by practical examples of organizations. There are included questions for reflection and tasks at the end of each chapter. Tasks that help students and professional public apply the theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems. Territorial self-government forms an integral part of a modern democratic and legal state. It is an expression of efforts to implement tasks to ensure the needs of the territorial community of citizens at the level that is closest to them.

One of the most important tools at the disposal of local self-government units in the performance of the tasks entrusted to them is the power to issue general binding regulations in matters of local self-government and to ensure the tasks arising for local self-government from the law. Law-making at the level of towns and municipalities or higher territorial units is thus an integral part of the exercise of territorial self-government and ultimately expresses its specific character as an essential part of public administration.

The aim of the scientific conference organized by the Department of Public Law Disciplines, Faculty of Public Administration, UPJŠ in Košice on 27 November 2015 was an effort to present the achieved results of scientific research activities in the field of law-making at the level of cities and municipalities, or higher territorial units. The conference provided a wide space for discussion on current issues of municipal standard-setting with the participation of representatives of the professional public, as well as representatives of local government and local self-government.

The scientific conference and the peer-reviewed proceedings of the conference were realized as a part of the solution of the VEGA grant project No. 1/0683/13 under the title "Normative Formation of Municipalities in the Matters of Local Self-Government. The present collection of papers from the scientific conference is an expression of the long-term efforts of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Public Administration, UPJŠ in Košice to address current issues of public administration with a special focus on the issue of local government.

The main objective of the publication was to investigate the impact of motivation and job satisfaction on the performance and performance of employees in public administration organizations. The sub-objectives of the publication were to develop a theoretical background on motivation, job satisfaction, performance and performance and their inter-relationship; to suggest interventions arising from the research findings.

The content of the work can contribute partial findings to the understanding of work motivation and performance. The publication is intended for a circle of professionals who are dealing with the subject - human resource managers and theorists of human resource management. The work consists of two main parts. The first, theoretical part deals with the current state of the problem at home and abroad, with an emphasis on the solution of this problem in public administration. In this part there is also the author's theoretical contribution in the form of a general motivational-performance model and an applied contribution in the form of a proposal of intervention measures: a three-level incentive and motivational model.

The information is drawn from publications and scientific studies by renowned national and international authors. The second part describes the implementation of the research, the statistical evaluation of the obtained data using the methods of descriptive and inductive statistics, the discussion, in which the found results are compared with the results of other domestic and foreign scientific studies.

Proceedings of Contributions from the International Scientific Conference Held on October 6, 2016 at the Faculty of Public Administration, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice

This publication contains contributions that were presented as lectures and posters by authors addressing the issue of human resources from the perspective of various scientific disciplines, especially from the viewpoints of management, psychology, sociology, public administration, and political science. The content and thematic diversity of the contributions examine, for example, modern trends in human resource management, perceptions of organizational justice, and the need for ethical codes.

The conference demonstrated that an interdisciplinary approach can highlight the shortcomings of identifying and understanding problems solely from the perspective of a single discipline. We are pleased to present this proceedings to conference participants and other interested readers. We believe that its content will be beneficial and useful for readers, serving as an inspiration for the further work of professionals not only in a single field, and thus the efforts of the authors and editors will not have been in vain.

The proceedings contain contributions from the participants of the conference Theory and Practice of Public Administration: Doctoral Students' Scientific Conference, held on February 17, 2016, at the Faculty of Public Administration of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.

We wrote this book with the aim of supporting the expansion of ultimate frisbee in Slovakia. This sport is experiencing rapid growth not only in the number of recreational enthusiasts but also in the ranks of competitive players. Its popularity is rising for several reasons. Ultimate frisbee is an attractive, dynamic game that is easily accessible in terms of equipment and space requirements. Although it may appear to be a sport for the young, it certainly offers athletic opportunities for people of all ages.

The character of the game is a textbook example of fair play behavior. It is well known in sports that if, in addition to simply playing, we also focus on the technique of a particular discipline-in our case, the game itself-the sense of enjoyment increases. Therefore, another goal of ours was to provide fundamental knowledge about the origins of ultimate frisbee, its rules, the structure of athletic performance, and the methodology for practicing selected game activities. We primarily drew from foreign ultimate frisbee publications and relevant domestic works related to the topic. The most valuable contribution of this monograph is the translation of empirical experience from many years of practice, including the national team and coaching experience of the main author, into the following pages.

This pertains to the elaboration of methodological approaches to training in the sports process. There is certainly much more knowledge needed for perfect mastery of the game of ultimate frisbee. For now, we have tried to provide the basics that will allow people to play frisbee “athletically” and with a certain “player standard.” Ultimate frisbee will offer new dimensions of sporting experience and can also become a valuable addition to a healthy lifestyle for the modern individual.

Učebný text z teórie práva sa pokúša priblížiť a objasniť právo vo všetkých dôležitých javových formách predovšetkým študentom prvého ročníka právnického štúdia a má propedeutický charakter. Vychádza z historického vývoja názorov na pojem právo a zo skúmania jeho rôznych významov. Hľadá spoločné znaky a odlišnosti medzi právnymi normami a inými normami správania (morálka, spravodlivosť). Dôraz kladie na skúmanie práva ako súboru právnych pravidiel vydaných a uznaných legitímnou autoritou, záväzných pre všetky subjekty právnych vzťahov. Klasifikuje systém práva a jeho štruktúru. Od tvorby práva prechádza k prameňom práva, so zreteľom na systém práva Slovenskej republiky, ale aj Európskej únie. V nadväznosti na pramene práva predkladá analýzu právnych noriem: ich pojem, znaky, štruktúru, druhy a pôsobnosť. Právne vzťahy vo svetle ich predpokladov a prvkov chápe ako vzťahy upravované právnymi normami. S realizáciou a aplikáciou práva súvisí výklad práva, spojený s otázkami analógie v práve. Právna zodpovednosť je prezentovaná ako ústredná právna kategória vychádzajúca zo schopnosti (nevyhnutnosti) niesť následky svojho konania: predmetom pozornosti sú predovšetkým objektívna zodpovednosť a subjektívna zodpovednosť. Záverečná časť sa týka právneho štátu ako ideálneho „miesta deja“ vo vzťahu k opísaným formám práva a ich uskutočňovaniu, zaoberá sa historickým vývojom i súčasným stavom modelov Rechtsstaat – Rule of Law, ako aj princípmi ich fungovania. Učebný text má poskytnúť orientáciu v základných pojmoch a odkázať na bohaté zdroje odbornej literatúry, ktoré možno študovať paralelne.
