The collection of articles from the VII. International Scientific Conference for Students and Young Scientists, organized by the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, in cooperation with the Res Publica Civic Association the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, held on 17 May 2019 in Košice.

The aim of this publication, entitled The Turning Eights, is to point out the importance of the years ending with number eight, which have significantly affected historical development and appear to be justified in the current political context.

The almanac consists of 11 articles, which are primarily in the Slovak language. The individual contributions deal with aspects of national and foreign policies that are united in theme called The Turning Eightswith the individual interest of each author.

The topics of the almanac are the municipal elections, the position of municipalities at the public administration system, development in self-governing regions and the non-governmental organizations. The presented publication also contains articles that deal with topics in specific countries, such as China, Israel and Russia.

Zborník príspevkov z vedeckej konferencie s medzinárodnou účasťou konanej dňa 25. 11. 2016 v Košiciach

Problematika reedukácie a resocializácie nie je novým, ale o to naliehavejším problémom, o čo viac rastú rôzne druhy závislostí, čo do rozsahu aj obsahu. Dá sa povedať, že uvedená problematika predstavuje jednu z najústrednejších problematík sociálnej práce v jeho teoretických východiskách aj praktických kontextoch. To bol aj hlavný dôvod výberu tejto problematiky ako ústrednej myšlienky 5. ročníka Košických dní sociálnej práce, ktorý bol už šiestym pokračovaním stretávania odbornej komunity k riešeniu sociálnych problémov, ktoré v súčasnosti trápia našu spoločnosť. Uvedený zborník predstavuje takmer 3 desiatky príspevkov od viac ako dvadsiatky autorov a autoriek zo Slovenska, ale aj Poľska a Českej republiky. Obsah príspevkov sa zaoberá okrem teoretických východísk a názorov na problematiku resocializácie a reedukácie, aj samotnými následkami daných procesov v rôznych klientskych sociálne rizikových skupinách – či už ide o závislých, agresívnych, dlhodobo chorých, trestaných, rozvedených, šikanovaných a mobbingovaných, kyberšikanovaných...atď. Verím, že takýto široký diapazón príspevkov obohatí všetkých tých, ktorí pracujú a študujú v teoretickej, výskumnej, ale aj praktickej rovine sociálnej práce.

Peer-Reviewed Collection of Contributions from a Scientific Conference with International Participation Held on November 25, 2022 in Košice

"The presented peer-reviewed collection of contributions titled "Present and Future of Social Work in the Reflection of Social Changes" is the output of a scientific conference with international participation, marking the 10th anniversary of the Košické dni sociálnej práce, held on November 25, 2022. The conference was dedicated to the vision of social work, its methods, and techniques in the context of societal changes. With the changing times come new challenges to which social work must be prepared to respond. The central focus of the collection is the search for answers to pre-defined questions: "Is the current social work system adequately configured for current societal problems? Can social work promptly respond to new and unknown challenges? Are the known methods of social work effective in dealing with contemporary negative phenomena? Do we need additional methods? If so, what are they?" Individual contributions touch on theoretical concepts in the search for answers, but they also include empirically based contributions that reflect research results from various areas of society and problematic situations, with a view to providing recommendations for both the theory and practice of social work.

Zborník abstraktov z medzinárodnej vedeckej konferencie: Výchova a vzdelávanie 2018: Pedagóg 21. storočia a jeho perspektívy v edukačnej praxi.

Medzinárodná vedecká konferencia je zameraná na problematiku vzdelávania a výchovy v oblasti základného, stredného a vysokého školstva a školských zariadení z pohľadu pedagóga. Zreteľ kladie na súčasný stav a perspektívy pedagóga 21. storočia v edukačnej praxi, pedagogické a sociologické aspekty výchovy v základných vzdelávacích a výchovných inštitúciách, ako aj aktuálne aspekty pregraduálnej prípravy pedagógov. Je určená vedeckým pracovníkom, mladým vysokoškolským učiteľom, doktorandom, ako aj odborným a pedagogickým pracovníkom, s cieľom prezentovať pedagóga – učiteľa, sociálneho pedagóga, špeciálneho pedagóga v súčasnej perspektíve, poukázať na ich nevyhnutnú súčinnosť vo vzťahu k edukácii, a vyvolať diskusiu k aktuálnym otázkam prezentovaných oblastí výchovy a vzdelávania v kontexte súčasnej situácie v školstve.

The aim of this publication, entitled Slovakia-Europe-World, is to point out a complex of diverse topics that are actual in the world, in Europe and in the Slovak republic.

The publication consists of 15 articles, which are primarily written in Slovak. The individual contributions deal with selected topics and aspects of national and foreign policy.

The topics of the articles are human rights, freedom of expression, the rise of religiously motivated nationalism, the issue of unemployment, parliamentary elections and election research. The publication also contains contributions focused on topics in the field of environmental policy, cultural policy or migration policy.

Obdobie staršej dospelosti predstavuje dôležitú ľudskú skúsenosť. Poradenstvo môže prispieť k tomu, aby to bola formatívna a osobnosť rozvíjajúca skúsenosť. Poradenstvo chápeme ako takú aplikáciu osobnosti do oblasti jej konania, ktorá rozvíja jej bytie. Vychádzame z aplikácie vývinu do poradenstva a naväzujeme na prácu Úvod do poradenskej psychológie, ktorá bola publikovaná skôr. V týchto učebných textoch sme rozpracovali podrobnejšie kapitolu, poradenstvo starším dospelým. Publikovaná práca môže prispieť k porozumeniu a podpore tohto dôležitého obdobia v živote človeka.

The current sixth volume of the Doctoral Miscellanea consists of eight contributions from four study programs, with two contributions also involving authors outside of doctoral studies. Given the limitations on the length of individual contributions and the uniqueness of the research, the authors have chosen varying widths and depths in presenting their dissertation topics. Some contributions serve as an introduction to the issues, others provide a summary of previous results, and still others focus on a detailed analysis of a specific problem. These three approaches may not only reveal the stage of research in which the doctoral candidate finds themselves but also their potential research priorities.

The main commonality across all issues of the proceedings remains interdisciplinary diversity, which shows a certain continuity. Specific themes appear regularly. In these cases, alongside alternating doctoral candidates, the key figure is the supervisor (in the role of co-author) and their research focus/project in which the doctoral candidates participate. This development of research continuity is particularly evident in contributions from the field of social work.

The scientific monograph The Value of Human Life in the Connotations of Postmodernism presents a current issue of reflections on the value of human life. It sees in the broader connotations of postmodern society, where the approaches of applied ethics (bioethics), philosophy and Christian theology intersect. This issue is embedded in the historical, philosophical, sociological and cultural-social Postmodernism.

The monograph analyses the postmodern value system, the dominant postmodern anthropological concept, secular bioethics and civil law in relation to human life and its value. The key is the confrontation of the postmodern anti-life mentality and life in the most discussed bioethical issues: contraception, artificial insemination techniques, genetic manipulation, abortion, sterilization, (bio) technology, euthanasia. An alternative approach is offered by the theological vision of human and life presented in the Judeo-Christian context. In the light of modern theological disciplines, the personnel concept is enriched by theological anthropology culminating in an eschatological vision.

In this sense, the issue of the value of human life culminates, which is also inspired by one of the most important encyclicals of Pope John Paul II. Evangelium vitae (25th anniversary of its writing). It is she who calls for the acceptance and respect of every human life and for the practical development of a new culture of life.

Učebnica je určená pre vyučovanie slovenského jazyka pre začiatočníkov (úroveň A1, A2 podľa SERR), zahraničných študentov lekárskej fakulty, odboru všeobecné lekárstvo a zubné lekárstvo. 

Učebnica AKO POUŽÍVAŤ SLOVENČINU V LEKÁRSKOM PROSTREDí  – základy slovenčiny pre študentov medicíny obsahuje 13 lekcií, ktoré sú vhodné pre samoštúdium a pre prácu s učiteľom na jazykovom seminári. Tematicky zamerané lekcie ponúkajú základy slovenskej výslovnosti, slovnej zásoby, krátke dialógy a jednoduchý výklad užitočnej gramatiky. Všetky cvičenia a aktivity umožňujú študentom osvojovať si a precvičovať bohatú lekársku slovnú zásobu a vybranú gramatiku v kontexte. Obsahujú kľúčové slová, slovné spojenia, jednoduché frázy a základné otázky, ktoré sa používajú v komunikácii lekára s pacientom. Dôraz sa kladie na funkčnosť jazyka pre získavanie údajov o zdravotnom stave pacienta, o jeho živote, rodinnom prostredí, o chorobách predkov, súrodencov a pod. Na konci učebnice sú tematicky zoradené užitočné slová a slovné spojenia z prostredia nemocnice, zoznam základných slovies a kľúč k cvičeniam.

Táto učebnica je určená pre zahraničných študentov medicíny – začiatočníkov – ako slovenčina na špecifický účel výučby. Jej cieľom je pomôcť zahraničným študentom, ktorí (1) študujú medicínu (2) v cudzom jazyku (anglický jazyk) a (3) v zahraničí (Slovensko) zvládnuť výzvu pri príprave na praktickú časť ich štúdia – konverzácia s pacientom v Slovenskom jazyku.Zámerom je poskytnúť študentom krok za krokom najfrekventovanejšie slovné spojenia a výrazy potrebné pri komunikácii s pacientom. Lekcie sa zameriavajú hlavne na slovnú zásobu týkajúcu sa častí ľudského tela a na základné symptómy a príznaky chorôb.Dôraz je kladený na krátke dialógy medzi lekárom a pacientom. Pri precvičovaní dialógov sú študenti vedení k nácviku komunikácie so zreteľom na porozumenie, bez prípadných obáv o gramatickú správnosť. Gramatické javy sú predstavované postupne, cez jednoduché  pomôcky – „tipy“.V prípade potreby si môžu študenti nájsť a doplniť si „chýbajúce časti gramatiky“ prostredníctvom odkazov na odporúčanú literatúru. Cieľom tejto knihy je uľahčiť a zefektívniť celý proces štúdia/osvojenia si (lekárskej) slovenčiny.

The anthology was created based on the study of archival volumes of Živena preserved in the Slovak National Library in Martin and the selection of material representing samples of texts that reflect the spirit of the times and contribute to the image of the contemporary modern woman.

The selection of articles from 1919 to 1928 uncovers the cultural atmosphere at the beginning of the 20th century when, thanks to emancipation efforts, doors were opening for women into public and professional life. Students from the 3rd and 4th years of the School of Applied Arts in Košice, under the guidance of teachers in photographic design and Slovak language and literature, were involved in preparing the illustrative component of the anthology, whose artistic interpretations are part of the publication. Their contribution meets the criteria for combining science and practice with a focus on popularizing research results.

Selected Chapters in Epistemology" is a work resulting from the author's multi-year research and also represents a fulfillment of the requirements from pedagogical practice in this subject. The chapters, presented in this synthesized form, have not been published before, and I am convinced that precisely in this form they can gain higher value and greater real impact on our philosophy students.

The individual chapters focus on the problem of knowledge today, primarily on the problem of criticizing metaphysics and questions related to creating post-metaphysical thinking. It is no coincidence that Friedrich Nietzsche is a common denominator for the presented texts; he is a philosopher who has fundamentally influenced and continues to influence current philosophical discussions and intellectual movements. The chapters are written to lead our students or other readers toward reflection, i.e., critical thinking, personal growth, and professional independence.

To what extent I have succeeded in fulfilling my intentions and goals remains for the reader to decide.
