Subject didacticians, experts from different fields and teachers worked closely together to develop ideas for the methodologies.

Prvý slovenský atlas vaskulárnych aneuryziem, ktorý sa v týchto dňoch dostáva do rúk našej lekárskej verejnosti, sa radí medzi dlhý rad knižných publikácií profesora Mazucha. Slovenské odborné písomníctvo a literatúra v cievnej chirurgii a angiológii všeobecne neoplývajú mimoriadnym množstvom prác. Tým je dané jeho obohatenie o túto zaujímavú monografiu. Je to kolektívne dielo, ktoré pozostáva z dvadsiatich kapitol. Na jej vytvorení sa podieľali početní autori z radov cievnych chirurgov aj vaskulárnych rádiológov. Veľký počet spoluautorov zvýšil nároky na zostavovateľa knihy vzhľadom na potrebu koordinácie autorského kolektívu a zjednotenia štruktúry a charakteristík jednotlivých príspevkov. Ozdobou publikácie sú aj príspevky zahraničných autorov, profesorov Csabu Dzsinicha z Budapešti a Roberta Staffu z Brna. Profesor Mazuch sa popýšil jednak priateľským vzťahom s početnými spoluautormi, jednak poukázal na svojich najúspešnejších odchovancov a spolupracovníkov tak z Lučenca, ako aj z Martinskej univerzitnej nemocnice. Práca svojím rozsahom 320 strán, z toho 301 strán vlastného textu, 457 obrázkami a najmä svojou vysokou úrovňou poteší a uspokojí čitateľov - všetky generácie cievnych chirurgov aj predstaviteľov iných medicínskych odborov. Zostavovateľ a autor veľkej časti diela v ňom znova použil neuveriteľné množstvo vlastných originálnych fotografií aj obrázkových ilustrácií, čo dodáva knihe autenticitu. Podobný vklad sa podaril aj ostatným spoluautorom knihy. Nesporným pozitívom tejto publikácie je však obrovská mnoho rokov až desaťročí trvajúca vlastná skúsenosť autorov s diagnostikou a chirurgickou liečbou aneuryziem v najrozličnejších lokalizáciách. Jazyková stránka knihy je vďaka jednotlivým autorom a najmä zostavovateľovi publikácie na vysokej úrovni. Publikácia sa zaoberá problematikou vaskulárnych aneuryziem v celom rozsahu a vo všetkých lokalizáciách. Dotýka sa teoretických základov, molekulárnych a genetických princípov, epidemiológie, anatómie, patológie, patofyziológie, klinickej diagnostiky aj diagnostiky pomocou moderných zobrazovacích metód, otázok indikácií chirurgickej aj endovaskulárnej liečby, predoperačnej, perioperačnej aj pooperačnej starostlivosti o týchto pacientov z chirurgického, anesteziologického aj intenzivistického hľadiska, samotných zásad chirurgických výkonov s podrobným popisom operačného postupu a vlastných skúseností s nimi. Kniha má ako obvykle prehľadnú štruktúru, je moderne koncipovaná a bude podľa môjho názoru veľkým prínosom v oblasti cievno-chirurgickej literatúry na Slovensku aj v ČR.

K základným úlohám klinického pracovného lekárstva a klinickej toxikológie patrí komplexná diagnostika, liečba a posudzovanie ochorení, ktoré vznikajú v súvislosti s nepriaznivými, zdraviu škodlivými faktormi práce a pracovným prostredím. S tým súvisí aj hlásenie chorôb z povolania a ohrození chorobou z povolania. Ako choroba z povolania sú klasifikované ochorenia, ktoré vznikli v príčinnej súvislosti s prácou, ak vznikli za podmienok uvedených v predpisoch o sociálnom poistení. Akútna a chronická forma choroby z povolania sa definuje v súlade s metodológiou Eurostatu.

Akútnou formou choroby z povolania je choroba z povolania:

– ktorej klinické prejavy netrvali dlhšie ako jeden rok,

– bola priznaná počas daného roka (referenčný rok) prvýkrát a pre ktorú bolo postihnutému navrhnuté odškodnenie za bolesť spôsobenú poškodením na zdraví, jej liečením alebo odstraňovaním jej následkov,

– pre ktorú v danom roku nebola vystavená práceneschopnosť alebo neschopnosť vykonávať zárobkovú činnosť presahujúca 12 mesiacov.

Za chronickú formu sa považuje choroba z povolania:

– pri ktorej bola na základe trvalej funkčnej zdravotnej poruchy (v trvaní viac ako jeden rok vrátane akútnej fázy choroby) priznaná trvalá neschopnosť vykonávať práce, ktoré danú chorobu vyvolali, alebo ktoré by mohli viesť k jej zhoršeniu,

– pre ktorú bol postihnutému vystavený návrh na odškodnenie za sťaženie spoločenského uplatnenia pre chorobu z povolania.

Ohrozenie chorobou z povolania je definované prítomnosťou niektorých klinických alebo laboratórnych znakov choroby z povolania, ktoré ešte nespĺňajú klinické kritériá na stanovenie diagnózy choroby z povolania. Choroba z povolania je choroba uznaná príslušným zdravotníckym zariadením, ktorá je zaradená do Zoznamu chorôb z povolania v SR uvedeného v prílohe č. 1 zákona č. 461/2003 Z. z. o sociálnom poistení, ak vznikla za podmienok uvedených v tejto prílohe zamestnancovi pri plnení pracovných alebo služobných úloh alebo v priamej súvislosti s plnením týchto úloh. Na výskyte chorôb z povolania sa podieľa široké spektrum rizikových faktorov pracovného prostredia, pôsobenie chemických, fyzikálnych, biologických, psychosociálnych faktorov, napr. hluk, prach, vibrácie, karcinogénne a mutagénne látky, alergény, infekčné agens. K najčastejším ochoreniam v súvislosti s prácou v posledných desaťročiach hlásených v SR patria profesionálne ochorenia podporno-pohybového, cievneho a nervového systému zamestnancov vystavených pri práci dlhodobému, nadmernému, jednostrannému zaťaženiu horných končatín a škodlivému vplyvu vibrácií a porucha sluchu z hluku.

Fyziológia človeka je veda, ktorá skúma a vysvetľuje funkcie ľudského organizmu. Štúdium fyziologických procesov sa uskutočňuje na bunkovej, tkanivovej, orgánovej a systémovej úrovni, ktoré sa integrujú na úrovni organizmu ako celku. Neustály a rozsiahly výskum v oblasti fyziológie obohacuje naše poznanie o nové informácie, a preto zorientovať sa vo veľkom množstve poznatkov môže byť pre študenta ťažké.

Bats represent a unique group of mammals, characterised by different life strategies. They are the only mammals capable of active flight, which, combined with their almost exclusively nocturnal activity, has led to the evolution of specific adaptations. One of the most striking is echolocation, which enables them to orientate themselves perfectly in their surroundings in the dark. Bats are mainly native to the tropics, but have also colonised areas outside the tropics, which, has led to a complex phenological cycle with active phases and interruptions during hibernation, especially in temperate zones. In this diverse and species-rich group (almost 1,500 known species), there is a wide range of social organisation as well as feeding and roosting strategies. Vo svojom úvode sa učebné texty venujú demografii z pohľadu starnutia populácie, vysvetľujú základné pojmy ako gerontológia, jej rozdelenie a následne sa zaoberajú aj úlohou a poslaním klinického odboru geriatria. Následne zrozumiteľne opisujú a vysvetľujú základné piliere geriatrickej medicíny, ktorými sú komplexné geriatrické vyšetrenie, základné geriatrické syndrómy, kam patrí krehkosť, malnutrícia, sarkopénia, kognitívne poruchy, a polyfarmácia . V závere sa venujú ageizmu, ktorý je tiež dôležitým javom v dnešnej klinickej medicíne.

The textbook "Structure and reactivity - solved examples and tasks, part 1" is the basis for teaching the subject "Structure and reactivity" for students of the 1st year of master's studies at the Faculty of Science, UPJŠ, department of Organic Chemistry. The textbook is divided into individual chapters, each chapter offering students examples of chemical reactions, where their course is explained on the basis of appropriate reaction mechanisms. A substantial part of the textbook consists of unresolved tasks, the main goal of which is the development of students' knowledge and skills. Due to the fact that the textbook is focused on only one semester of study, it cannot cover all reactions, rather it is only representative examples of different types of reactions, such as: addition reactions, elimination reactions, aromatic substitution, addition-elimination reactions, radical reactions and pericyclic reactions.

In our new electronic textbook, FUNDAMENTALS OF HISTOLOGY II – Textbook and Atlas of Microscopic Anatomy of Organs, we present students and the professional public with essential information about the microscopic structure of organs, accompanied by extensive visual documentation of organ structures and clear legends for the microphotographs.

All histological specimens come from the archive of the Institute of Histology and Embryology, are used in practical exercises, and are also included in teaching presentations. The electronic textbook is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students of general medicine and dentistry at medical faculties, as well as for students of veterinary medicine and pharmacy, and biology students at faculties of natural sciences.

The textbook is designed so that students can find clear explanations of most medical terms and also reinforce their knowledge of professional terminology in Latin. An advantage of the electronic textbook is the ability to enlarge microscopic photographs, allowing detailed observation of structures without any qualitative loss of the viewed image. The microphotographs used in the atlas were taken with the following equipment: Zeiss Promicra and Olympus BX50 with a Canon EOS 2000D digital camera and QP Industrial 3.2 software.

There is still little complete information about the system of care for adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems, especially in Slovakia.

Therefore, the main aim of this publication is to summarize and present current findings of the Care4Youth project, not only about the system, but also about the role of particular actors involved in the care of these adolescents, including family, professionals and schools.

In the chapters, we take a closer look at the cooperation of all involved actors and, from the point of view of care providers from different types of institutions, we will describe all barriers that negatively affect adequate and effective help as well as suggestions how the identified barriers could be eliminated.

Colorectal carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor of the digestive system, and its rising incidence in Slovakia—particularly among the male population—is alarming. Although significant progress has been made in the diagnosis, screening, and treatment of patients with advanced colorectal cancer, therapeutic options remain limited, necessitating the discovery of additional markers to serve as prognostic predictors.

This monograph aims to draw the attention of the professional community to the critical role and significance of the TGF-β signaling pathway in the initiation, progression, and treatment of colorectal carcinoma. A substantial portion of the text focuses on lesser-known emerging trends and ongoing clinical trials for colorectal cancer patients.

The monograph aspires to provide a balanced resource that serves as an engaging informational tool not only for specialist physicians but also for medical faculty students. Among students of single-discipline and interdisciplinary biology studies at faculties with a natural science focus, there often arises a problem in defining the scope of the curriculum when studying the subject of Human Anatomy. The presented study material aims to help students of non-medical scientific fields navigate the extensive anatomical terminology and to limit the amount of required anatomical terms to an optimum, so that alongside mastering Latin nomenclature, students still have sufficient capacity to memorize additional knowledge in the areas of systemic, comparative, developmental, and functional anatomy.

Emphasis on organizing individual anatomical terms into logical units simultaneously supports a hierarchical view of the architecture of the human body. Despite its seemingly self-serving nature, anatomical terminology thus becomes the framework upon which students build knowledge from more or less related scientific disciplines studying the human body and the processes occurring within it throughout their further studies. At the same time, alongside this ambition that goes beyond the scope of the anatomy discipline, the Anatomical Terms follow a long tradition of anatomical handbooks while respecting the valid Latin and Slovak anatomical nomenclature.

This script represents a practical supplement to university textbooks of Anatomy or Neuroanatomy and especially to anatomical atlases, but it certainly does not aim to replace them. Here you will find all the necessary terms gathered in one place, which you can always have at hand on your phone, e-reader, or laptop. National Report on the Health and Health-Related Behaviour of 11-, 13-, and 15-Year-Old Schoolchildren Based on the Survey Conducted in 2021/2022 within the International Project “Health Behaviour in School-aged Children” (HBSC)

For several years, this study has provided us with key insights for a better understanding of the health-related behaviour of our young people. It examines a range of health-related topics such as sleep, mental well-being, nutritional behaviour, and physical activity. Important areas of research also include school and social relationships within it, family and family background, as well as peer relationships.

The findings deepen our understanding of the mechanisms influencing differences and changes in young people’s health and risk behaviours. They are crucial for the development of effective health promotion programmes and health-related behavioural interventions, educational programmes in this field, and for monitoring their effectiveness—not only at the national but also at the international level. The knowledge gained is important for a better understanding of the needs of schoolchildren and for adapting services and systemic support so that these needs are taken into account to the greatest possible extent in today’s rapidly changing world. The study can help us understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the quality of both mental and physical health.

The pandemic and the related epidemiological and hygiene measures aimed at limiting the spread of the virus have meant significant restrictions in the daily lives of people of all ages—including children and adolescents. The standard educational process, social contact with peers, extracurricular activities, and other interests both in and out of school were severely disrupted, which had a significant impact on the experiences of schoolchildren.
