Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary field of science at the interface of biological, psychological and computer sciences, which aims to describe the functioning of the brain and mind. Computational and cognitive neuroscience are subfields of neuroscience focused on the study of information processing in the human and animal nervous systems, and on the theoretical description of the brain and mind. This university textbook contains several assignments that provide an overview of the methods used in computational and cognitive neuroscience, with an emphasis on mathematical modeling and on the behavioral study of cognitive processes. The textbook builds on the author's previous works.

University textbook „Cursus Latinus - textbook“ is intended for students of the study program Latin language and literature. It is divided into „Introduction“ and 37 lessons. The content of lessons is morphology, sentence syntax and selected phenomena of case syntax of the Latin language. Each of the lessons contains a grammatical explanation, followed by sentences designed to demonstrate the forms of grammatical phenomena and the required vocabulary (Dictionary). Using these examples, students learn the basic principles of translation from Latin into Slovak and from Slovak into Latin. The textbook also includes a Latin-Slovak dictionary containing the entire vocabulary used in the textbook. The „Cursus Latinus - textbook“ is intended for the interpretation of grammar and the acquisition of grammatical phenomena of the Latin language under the guidance of the teacher. A parallel exercise book (Cursus Latinus – exercise book) is used to practice Latin grammar at home. The exercise book includes a key to the exercises and a Latin-Slovak dictionary containing vocabulary from the textbook and the exercise book. Marketing bol donedávna spájaný s koncepciou ziskovosti a konkurencieschopnosti. V posledných rokoch sa však uplatňuje aj v organizáciách, ktoré nedosahujú zisk, ako napr. kultúrne a vzdelávacie inštitúcie, politické strany, dobrovoľné alebo charitatívne organizácie, ale aj pri propagovaní ľudí a ich názorov, udalostí a miest. Dôvodom je predovšetkým tlak na efektívnejšie využívanie verejných zdrojov, ako aj narastajúca konkurencia. Koncepcia marketingu územia ovplyvňuje tak názory na miesto pobytu, priemyselné a obchodné zóny, územie, cestovný ruch a územný imidž. Predložený vysokoškolský učebný text, slúži ako študijný materiál ponúkajúci základy marketingu aplikovaného pre oblasť služieb a pre oblasť teritória: je určený predovšetkým pre študentov voliteľných predmetov na Fakulte verejnej správy.

Laparoskopická chirurgia dnes predstavuje štandardnú a v mnohých ohľadoch preferovanú modalitu chirurgickej liečby. Dynamika jej celosvetového rozšírenia, umožnená pokrokom v biomedicínskych technológiách a rozvojom globálnych informačných a komunikačných kanálov, nemá v histórii chirurgie obdobu. V súčasnosti už prakticky neexistuje žiadna brušná operácia, ktorá by sa nevykonávala laparoskopickým spôsobom, pričom v mnohých prípadoch je už laparoskopický postup metódou voľby.

Napriek, a možno práve vďaka bezprecedentne rýchlej penetrácii laparoskopických operácií do každodennej chirurgickej praxe naďalej v mnohých ohľadoch absentujú všeobecne akceptované technické štandardy. Vysoká variabilita procesných postupov v rámci jednotlivých laparoskopických operácií vychádza skôr zo zvyklostí daného pracoviska ako z medicíny založenej na dôkazoch. Táto situácia je ďalej modifi kovaná rozvojom nových a staronových koncepcií charakteru minilaparoskopie, SILS či NOTES a ich hybridných kombinácií s klasickou laparoskopiou.

Cieľom monografi e je pritiahnuť pozornosť odbornej verejnosti späť k základným princípom laparoskopickej chirurgie, ktoré by mali byť základňou pre efektívne a bezpečné vykonávanie laparoskopických operácií, ako aj bázou pre kritický postoj k módnym inovatívnym trendom. Obsahovo sa sústredí skôr na všeobecne menej známe a v našich podmienkach zriedkavo diskutované témy, ktorých význam sa hlbšie analyzoval len v nedávnej minulosti. Našou ambíciou bolo vytvoriť vyvážený materiál, ktorý by bol zaujímavým primárnym informačným zdrojom nielen pre lekárov špecialistov, ale aj pre poslucháčov lekárskych fakúlt a kolegov v špecializačnej príprave v chirurgických odboroch.

The textbook EFFUSE – River Landscape, Volume 1: Scientific Education for Everybody, developed within the EFFUSE project, explores the importance of water for living organisms and the specific features of water in the Transcarpathian region. It addresses the issue of water pollution and presents bioindication as an effective method of environmental research. The publication explains how the ecological status of rivers and water quality can be assessed using aquatic plants, insects, fish, and amphibians. It also raises awareness about the microbial composition of water and offers guidance on protecting oneself from waterborne infections. The educational text is chronologically divided into the most significant periods of civilization development. The last two completed centuries—the 19th and 20th—are subdivided into major life science fields due to the unprecedented growth of biological disciplines and the resulting volume of acquired information.

Since it can sometimes be challenging in science to define what constitutes the past versus the present of a particular discipline, we have excluded significant biological discoveries from the early 21st century, which are typically regarded as the “present” of biology.

Today, scanning probe microscopes are standard tools in materials science, physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. Thousands of these microscopes are in operation worldwide and are at least as common and popular as scanning electron microscopes.

Despite the vast number of newer scanning probe microscopy techniques, classical STM remains a significant and irreplaceable method, widely used, for example, in solid-state research. In this text, we will focus on both traditional and innovative STM techniques that are available and utilized in the laboratories of the Center for Low Temperature Physics in Košice.

It includes seeds collected from the wild plants in natural localities of Slovakia with a detailed description of the localities with coordinates and date of collection (111 samples) and seeds of plants grown in the Botanical Garden (23 samples) and seeds from Exposition of the Tatra Mountain Nature of the State Forests of Tatra National Park, Tatranská Lomnica (64 samples) as well as 62 seed samples fromHrádocké Arboretum of the Secondary Forestry School of Jozef Dekret Matejovie in Liptovský Hrádok. The index includes a desiderata table that can be used when ordering seeds.

Bats represent a unique group of mammals, characterised by different life strategies. They are the only mammals capable of active flight, which, combined with their almost exclusively nocturnal activity, has led to the evolution of specific adaptations. One of the most striking is echolocation, which enables them to orientate themselves perfectly in their surroundings in the dark. Bats are mainly native to the tropics, but have also colonised areas outside the tropics, which, has led to a complex phenological cycle with active phases and interruptions during hibernation, especially in temperate zones. In this diverse and species-rich group (almost 1,500 known species), there is a wide range of social organisation as well as feeding and roosting strategies. The textbook "Fundamentals of Chiropterology" brings the current state of knowledge about these extraordinary animals in eleven chapters and two appendices for the first time in the Slovak language.

The proposed university textbook provides knowledge in the field of nursing in internal medicine. It is intended primarily for students of the nursing program, but also for nurses working in this specialization. The textbook builds on the previous two parts: Nursing Process in Internal Medicine I (Sováriová Soósová, 2006) and Nursing Process in Internal Medicine II (Suchanová, 2007). It is divided into four chapters, focusing on disorders of water and electrolyte balance and acid-base equilibrium, kidney and urinary tract diseases, endocrine system diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Each chapter is similarly structured, beginning with diagnostic methods commonly used in the respective area. Subsequent subchapters address nursing care for selected diseases of specific bodily systems. Each subchapter consists of a clinical introduction (characteristics of the disease, its etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment) and nursing care for the given disease. This includes assessment, formulation of nursing diagnoses, and planning nursing care (setting goals, outcome criteria, and planning possible interventions).

The textbook serves as a model framework and algorithm for managing nursing care using the nursing process method.

The publication "Respiratory Medicine and Tuberculosis—Selected Chapters" is an anticipated study material intended for medical students at medical faculties and can also serve as supplementary literature in the framework of postgraduate education for specialist doctors. By compiling chapters and content, it builds upon the Slovak version of the publication "Selected Chapters from Pneumology and Phthisiology" (edited by Pavol Joppa), but the new publication expands pneumology with additional nosological units and issues in the context of current evidence-based medicine.

This book adds topics such as Sleep Breathing Disorders and Respiratory Failure to standard pneumology topics like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, pneumonia, interstitial diseases, and tuberculosis. These topics are often mentioned only marginally in pneumological publications and within internal diseases. A significant contribution is the comprehensively processed chapter on Cor pulmonale chronicum, which connects several clinical fields including pneumology, internal medicine, and cardiology. We believe that the prepared publication will find favor among readers and will be beneficial in educating students and practitioners.

They also consider hyperexcitability (excessive psychological excitability), research theorems on injustice, and fundamental concepts and their theoretical connections in the field of self-regulation research within the context of executive functions.

In philosophy, the authors focus on selected aspects of works belonging to major currents of world philosophy (Heidegger, Wittgenstein, Plotinus, Descartes, Patočka).

In literary studies (Slovak studies), the topics include modeling the theme of death in prose texts, the depiction of technological progress in space science fiction films, and the translation work of K. Strmeň, Návštevy (Anthology of World Lyric Poetry).

In the field of social work, the authors present contributions on current trends in preventing burnout syndrome in helping professions, the use of logotherapy in foster care, certain factors enabling the emergence, development, and spread of socially pathological phenomena (“cyberbullying”), religiosity and the value of human life, and an empirical analysis of the competencies of social workers in institutional care for people with intellectual disabilities.

The political science contribution analyzes selected institutions and documents within the European system of human rights protection, while the British and American studies paper examines the relationship between metaphor and metonymy in the interpretation of the meaning of new English compounds.

The scientific monograph was developed within the framework of the grant project Vega 1/0230/15 entitled "Social and Personality Characteristics of Oncological Ill Men and Women as one of the most important factors of sociotherapy with this group of men and women clients", with the aim of finding some common personal characteristics oncological men and women patients, to focus on choosing their coping strategies that can be significant in terms of oncological disease as well as suggesting ways and means of using the basic methods of sociotherapy as one of the most important methods of social work in working with this group of men and women clients, from the knowledge of their personal and social characteristics.

It is also a starting point for other necessary steps, namely to link the results of research to prax the themselves oncologists to hospitals, their outpatient clinics and patients as well as to support the merit of developing the sociooncology, a specific science discipline.
