Proceedings of Extended Abstracts from Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference

Conference proceedings comprise extended abstracts from contributions that were presented during the conference Negative consequences of performing helping professions II – Psychological, social and health aspects of performing helping professions, which was held on 12th of June 2019 in Košice.

The conference was organized as one of the outputs of the research project APVV 14-0921 Self-care as a factor of coping with the negative consequences of the practicizing the helping professions. Abstracts present either original research by the authors or summaries of the authors' findings in their long-term research activities focused on helping professions. One of the ambitions of the conference was to create a space for dialogue between academics and professionals working in helping professions. The interdisciplinary character of the conference has brought new ideas and perception of this issue, which has also been reflected in the rich response during the discussions. Professionals from field of psychology, social work, occupational medicine and behavioral medicine participated actively or passively in the conference.

Thus, the enriching aspect of the resulting proceedings is the interconnection of applied and theoretical studies related to wide range of helping professions.

The textbook is addressed to up-and-coming media staffers and teachers of Slovak language, a target group which will be a prospective model for common users in their language behaviour. It poses an educational project that points out to the correlation of standard language and language (primarily orthoepical) norm.

The publication is structured in the way that after the explanation of the given orthoepical problem on the segmenal level (in correspondence with the valid orthoepical norm anchored in Rules of Slovak Orthoepy by Á. Kráľ, 2005, 2009), there follow exercises with an aim to know and practically apply presented norms as standardised acoustic forms. However, considering the natural (not artificial) language and the real (not absolutely ideal) norm, under the exercises we give sociolinguistically oriented topics and tasks for discussion (sometimes also with references to specialist sources) with an aim to draw the listeners’ attention to the current state of live, phonically realised language, or to possible solutions that functionally correspond to the interests and needs of lanugage community and are not in contradiction with internal language rules at the same time.

An explanation of particular orthopeic phenomena on the segmental level is closed not only with exercices and topics for discussion but also with a short test in which students can individually verify their special competences in connection to speech practise.

The monograph is dealing with the issue of homosexuality and homophobia in the context of social work and it is divided into five chapters, which are devoted to individual fields of the tackled issue. The first chapter is describing the phenomenon of homosexuality in the society; the focus is put on human sexuality and sexual orientation. The following chapter is clarifying the formation of homosexual identity in connection to coming out and it describes its frequently utilized models. The third chapter is devoted to the concepts of heteronormativity and heterosexism in the social context.

Furthermore, the chapter is dealing with the formation of attitudes towards this issue from the point of view of religion and masculinity. Another chapter is describing homophobia as the result of heteronormativity, stereotypes and prejudice.

In the last chapter, the authors are introducing selected social work theories dealing with the homosexual minority, the approaches to LGBT+ community and suggestions towards elimination of homophobia within the social work environment.

This peer-reviewed collection of papers is a publication output of the scientific colloquium named The Magic of Sounds, which was organized by the Department of Slovak Studies, Slavonic Philologies and Communication at the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and by the Košice Branch of the Slovak Linguistic Society at the Ľudovít Štúr Linguistic Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of birth of Associate Professor PhDr. Jozef Liška, PhD., the founder of the Slovak logopaedics.

Participants focused their papers on the analysis of the linguistic and speech therapy work of J. Liška, his contribution to Slovak dialectology and orthoepy, presented him as an Anglicist, and they also dealt with the audio aspect of children's speech, exact methods of disturbances and low voice quality measuring, or machine speech processing.

An interpretative paper of the documentary They Will Speak Well, a socially important piece of film work, which was made in 1958 under the supervision of J. Liška, is also included in the proceedings.

Intervention Program for Supporting Self-Care in Helping Professions: "How Do I Take Care of Myself?" The intervention program "How Do I Take Care of Myself?" was developed as part of the research project APVV14-0921, "Self-Care as a Factor in Coping with the Negative Consequences of Engaging in Helping Professions." Its uniqueness lies in being created based on specific research outputs from the program's authors and project.

In the first chapter, the authors offer insights into the preparation of the intervention program, justifying its theoretical foundations, methods, and specifics of the program participants. They also provide an overview of research on the effectiveness of various intervention programs aimed at reducing the negative consequences of helping and enhancing self-care and other positive effects of engaging in helping professions. Subsequent chapters focus on a detailed analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention program "How Do I Take Care of Myself?" and its comparison with the effectiveness of other programs, which were differently focused, targeted at different populations of helping professionals, and had different theoretical and practical orientations and foundations. Most of these studies demonstrated positive changes only in isolated cases, due to various methodological shortcomings often related to practical application.

What differentiates the intervention program presented in this monograph is the participation of helping professionals actively practicing in the social field, unlike most intervention programs compiled and validated for students of these professions. The student population, being more accessible to researchers, allows for better methodology, including a larger number of participants, as well as experimental manipulation and group balancing. In the case of participants in the validation of the program "How Do I Take Care of Myself?", it involved practitioners who are engaged in the daily work process and completed training during their work breaks, which placed high demands on balancing their work and personal tasks. We believe that the effects we discovered during the validation of the effectiveness of the presented intervention program were not always clearly mathematically graspable but were evident from individual feedback.

We present the text of this monograph to the professional public with the aim of highlighting the benefits, limitations of the intervention program, as well as inspiring researchers and practitioners to further work in this area.

Reviewed Proceedings of Contributions from a Scientific Conference

This reviewed collection of contributions from the scientific e-conference Legal Language in Application Practice, held from December 3 to 21, 2018, presents various academic contributions.

Legal language, as expressed in legal norms, is specific and should ideally be unambiguous, concise, and resistant to multiple interpretations. Is this an ideal world that does not exist but is worth striving for? Interpretative challenges and ambiguities in legal language and terminology (especially in the Labour Code) led the Department of Labour Law and Social Security Law at UPJŠ in Košice to undertake the VEGA grant project No. 1/0526/17 titled Linguistic and Sanction Mechanisms in the Creation and Operation of Labour Law Norms.

As part of this grant project, the department organized an e-conference open not only to labor law specialists but also to experts from other legal fields. Unsurprisingly, interpretative issues extend beyond labor law. The contributions in this collection are thus somewhat interdisciplinary, though with a focus on labor law. We hope this collection serves as an introduction to broader research and deeper study of legal language by experts beyond legal theory. Additionally, we trust these contributions will inspire you, the readers.

Klasifikácia stavu orálnych tkanív. Táto časť publikácie je rozdelená prehľadne do deviatich kapitol. Prvá kapitola sa zaoberá klasifikáciou stavu podľa extraorálneho vyšetrenia . Autorka spomína jednotlivé aspekty pre klasifikáciu, ako je symetria tváre a možné príčiny asymetrie, typy oklúzie, ochorení TMK či ortodontickej anomálie. Ďalší oddiel si dáva za cieľ didakticky rozdeliť riziká ošetrenia pacienta podľa stavu celkového a orálneho zdravia . Tu sa spomína nielen zdravotná anamnéza a rodinná anamnéza, ale aj riziko bakteriémie pri zubnom ošetrení. Klasifikácia stavu tvrdých zubných tkanív spomína mikrobiálne a nemikrobiálne faktory a ich rozsah. V rámci nemikrobiálneho poškodenia sa kapitola zaoberá klinovitými defektmi, abráziou, atríciou, fraktúrami klinických koruniek zubov alebo eróziami. Je hodnotené nielen klinické zubné vyšetrenie, ale aj röntgenologické, a tiež to, či je ochorenie aktívne alebo inaktívne. Klasifikácia poškodenia parodontu opäť popisuje vplyv bakteriálnych a nebakteriálnych faktorov na závesný aparát v okolí zuba rovnako ako ich vplyv na tkanivá v okolí implantátu, tj v periimplantačnej oblasti . Klasifikácia stavu orálnych slizníc a bakteriálneho rizika veľmi prehľadne definuje výšku rizika v závislosti od prítomnosti rôznych patogénov. Je hodnotená nielen kvalitatívna prítomnosť patogénu, ale aj jeho patogenita a bakteriálny komplex. Podľa získaných výsledkov je potom možné rozlíšiť bakteriálny profil pacienta na vysoký, stredný a nízky. Kapitola venovaná typu genetického rizika rieši gény IL1A, IL1B a IL1RN a možné genotypy a ich vplyv na teoretické riziko vzniku parodontitídy. Posledný oddiel rieši klasifikáciu pacienta podľa príčiny a fázy aktivity ochorenia. Výsledkom je rozdelenie na kariologického alebo parodontologického pacienta s rôznou fázou aktivity ochorenia bakteriálneho alebo nebakteriálneho pôvodu.

Extraorálne vyšetrenie. V tejto časti sú popísané nielen príčiny rôznych patologických javov popísaných pri extraorálnom vyšetrení, ale zároveň je načrtnutý základný spôsob liečby.

Symetria alebo asymetria tváre môže mať mnoho príčin. Autorky sa snažia o ich zoznam a popisujú základnú fyzioterapiu vedúcu k uvoľneniu žuvacích svalov, ktorých hypertrofia môže byť jednou z príčin asymetrie rovnako ako napríklad nesprávne držanie tela a hlavy. Kapitola je doplnená bohatou fotodokumentáciou patologických nálezov. V kapitole venovanej oklúzii nájdeme informácie o fyziologickej oklúzii, ale aj o príčinách patologickej oklúzie. Tento oddiel veľmi prehľadne klasifikuje ortodontické anomálie (anomálie veľkosti čeľustí, anomálie vzájomnej polohy hornej a dolnej čeľuste a anomálie postavenia zubov). Bohatá fotografická a röntgenologická dokumentácia dokladá ohromnú šírku ortodontických anomálií. Kapitola venovaná temporomandibulárnemu kĺbu zahŕňa ako jeho základnú anatómiu, tak aj jeho biomechaniku. Klasifikácia ochorení TMK spomína nielen anatomické, ale aj traumatické či patofyziologické faktory. Vyšetrenie TMK popisuje palpačné techniky, zobrazovacie metódy a zároveň dokladuje čitatelia klinické prejavy ochorenia. Nakoniec je popísaná konzervatívna a chirurgická liečba TMK.

Ďalšia časť publikácie sa venuje úlohe dentálnych hygieničiek či hygienistov (DH) pri vyšetrení a liečbe TMK a hlavne pri ortodontickej terapii. Prínosná je najmä tá časť, ktorá rieši spoluprácu lekára a DH v závislosti od typu ortodontického aparátu (fixný, snímateľný alebo fóliový). Veľkým benefitom tejto kapitoly je opäť nielen bohatá fotodokumentácia, ale aj veľké množstvo štúdií, ktoré porovnávajú vplyv ortodontickej liečby na zdravý či poškodený parodont. V závere sú deklarované následky nevhodnej ortodontickej liečby na tvrdé zubné tkanivo.

Kvalitná je kapitola venovaná obsiahlym kazuistickým oznámením u pacientov s ortodontickou liečbou a vplyvom tejto liečby na postihnutý parodont.

Autorky predkladajú didaktickú klasifikáciu stavu orálnych tkanív a návod extraorálneho vyšetrenia pacienta. Prínosná je najmä veľmi bohatá fotografická a röntgenologická dokumentácia, rovnako ako veľké množstvo spracovanej a citovanej literatúry. Publikácii sa dá vytknúť snáď len to, že by jej prospelo väčšie prepojenie oboch častí, pretože niektoré kapitoly sa prekrývajú, ako napríklad ochorenie TMK, typy oklúzie či traumatická oklúzia. Dá sa predpokladať, že je to dôsledkom publikačnej činnosti dvoch autoriek. Tiež by sa dalo polemizovať o tom, či pri extraorálnom vyšetrení sme schopní diagnostikovať stav oklúzie. To však nemení nič na tom, že téma je spracovaná veľmi obsiahle a kvalitne. Kniha je určite veľmi prínosná pre budúce DH a zároveň je vhodná ako odporúčaná literatúra na predklinickú výučbu zubného lekárstva.

FZ PU v Prešove, sa podarilo vytvoriť učebnicu Základy fyzioterapie, ktorá je určená študentom I. stupňa vysokoškolského vzdelávania v odbore fyzioterapia.
Sú v nej zhrnuté základné fyzioterapeutické postupy a metódy pohybovej liečby, ale aj historický vývin fyzioterapie na Slovensku, ako aj stručný opis ostatných zložiek liečebnej rehabilitácie. Až po osvojení týchto základných vedomostí môže študent ďalej rozvíjať a dopĺňať svoje vedomosti z odboru v ďalšom štúdiu. Náklad 1. vydania sa minul a tak autori dostali možnosť pred druhým vydaním doplniť niektoré informácie, ktoré podľa vlastného zváženia, ale aj na základe spätnej väzby od študentov, v učebnici chýbali.
Veríme, že predkladané druhé vydanie učebnice pomôže študentom zorientovať sa v základoch fyzioterapie.

Philosophy is interwoven throughout its history with several principles that bring light and order to this kind of thinking, whether it is a systematic or a non-systematic form of philosophizing.

Each of the principles represents in its own way the origin (ἀρχή) of all deductive reasoning, but not all philosophical statements and conceptions are obliged to proceed in the same way, for not all philosophical statements and conceptions are calculus. Actually, such a form of rationalist philosophizing is really a minority in the history of philosophy. But in spite of its minority presence, it will always attract attention to some extent, whether by becoming a pillar of thought itself and finding a permanent place in its foundations, or by becoming an indispensable mainstay of philosophical reasoning. In fact, there are not many principles in the history of philosophical thought.

The state of affairs is primarily due to the heterogeneous and in many cases irrationalist nature of philosophical thinking.

This university text is intended for students of chemical and ecological sciences at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice and is intended to serve as a tool for experimental exercises in colloid chemistry. Colloid chemistry is an important part of the theoretical basis of the chemical sciences and belongs to the newer interdisciplinary fields of natural sciences.

It combines knowledge from physical chemistry, physics and biology, while also drawing on a solid knowledge of mathematics and other scientific disciplines. Experiments are often essential in understanding the problems of colloid chemistry, modelling ideas about the phenomena and laws involved in the discipline. This is why active participation in experimental exercises is so important and essential to mastering the material in colloid chemistry.

In selecting the tasks for these scripts, it was also necessary to respect the considerable limitations imposed by the possibilities of the laboratory instrumentation and material equipment of our department. Despite this limitation, however, they can illustrate to students the basic theoretical physicochemical principles of colloid dispersion systems and, importantly, their understanding can contribute to the understanding of some of the more important peculiarities of colloidal phenomena.

This text is intended for first-year students in 76-12-8 ‘General Education Teaching’ in combinations with mathematics. It is based on the authors' lectures and their more than ten years of experience in teaching this subject at the Faculty of Education of the University of Applied Sciences. When writing it, the authors tried to take into account the specificity of mathematics teaching studies.

The present teaching text was not written due to the lack of textbooks on mathematical analysis. The reason for writing it was the authors' findings that the students do not have sufficient experience in working with specialized literature from secondary school, the difficulties for many of them (especially in the first semesters) are caused by even a slightly different interpretation, not rarely also by a change in labeling, which makes them miss the essence of the studied problem. The authors of the text did not set out to be original. Their aim was to make such a selection of topics as is necessary for a future teacher of mathematics and to choose such a method of interpretation which, in their opinion, is suitable for first-year students.

A good mastery of the curriculum (expansion of the mathematical apparatus and the related possibilities of applying other methods of proof as well as the acquisition of the necessary numerical skills) presupposes the use of other literary sources (textbooks, collections of problems) according to the teacher's recommendation.

These "Exercise Manuals" present a concise overview of commonly used methodologies as well as progressive techniques, such as the use of liquid chromatography and fluorescence microscopy. Individual tasks were selected based on the research focus of the Department of Botany at the Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, particularly in the context of "stress physiology."

Some tasks can also be utilized within the subject "Plant Ecology." Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is typically used as a model plant for individual tasks due to its long-standing history of research at the Department of Botany and its ease of cultivation under laboratory conditions. The chapters also briefly discuss the significance of monitored parameters, principles of their determination, and metabolism (formation or degradation), aiming to indicate their mutual context.

This approach highlights that determining an individual parameter cannot provide a general explanation for the overall causes and impacts of observed changes; however, it can serve as a basis for testing hypotheses at the level of other parameters.

For deeper study of specific issues, there is an abundance of high-quality international monographs and review articles available.

The concept of the integral is one of the most significant concepts in mathematics as a whole. In its most primitive form, it was already used by the ancient Greeks in the creation of Euclidean geometry. However, it was only after Descartes' work on analytical geometry in 1637 that mathematicians could begin to consider the integral as a subject of analysis. Descartes' work laid the groundwork for the discovery of infinitesimal calculus by Leibniz and Newton around 1665. At that time, a great dispute arose over the priority of this discovery, dividing scholars of Germany and England into two opposing camps, each favoring their own champion. Today, we know that Newton's work on fluxions and fluents was somewhat earlier, but Leibniz's notation and approach have gained more acceptance in the mathematical world, and the symbols ∫ ∫ and d d are still used today. A brief overview of the history of the integral will be presented in Chapter 1.

Today, there is a plethora of scripts, textbooks, and books dedicated to explaining the concept of the integral. Therefore, every potential author faces the initial question of whether to write another text on this topic. Our affirmative answer to this question was driven by the students' request to find the subject matter of a part of the winter semester of the second year presented in a coherent form. The second motivation is a slightly different approach to the topic. If we consider the methods typically used in solving problems and gaining routine with a certain integral, it mainly involves the Newton-Leibniz formula, and often there is little time left to compute the definite (Riemann) integral using its definition. Therefore, we included a discussion of the Newton integral in Chapter 2, which reflects this fact and is directly related to the indefinite integral, whose various calculation methods receive relatively much attention in the previous semester. Only after that, in Chapter 3, do we build the theory of the Riemann integral, present criteria for its existence, classes of integrable functions, basic properties, and finally its relationship with the Newton integral. Questions primarily concerning geometric applications are addressed in Chapter 4, and in the final chapter, we focus on extending the Riemann integral to unbounded functions and unbounded intervals.
