History of ethics represents a search for basic principle, which would enable a distinction between moral and immoral, good and bad, right and wrong. The main problem lies in motives, methods and consequences of human conduct. The integrity of medical profession puts emphasis on life-long study and practice according to the professional competence, and last but not least on ethical principles and rules of medical ethics.
Medical ethics, as a part of bioethics, is currently taking on a huge importance in everyday clinical practice and must face many serious ethical issues regarding the whole system of health care. On general level the decision-making in medical practice is quite easy, based on the requirement to always act in the patient's best interest. Nature, as well as the human body, contains an abundant quantity of organic molecules. This textbook describes selected oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen derivatives of hydrocarbons, heterocyclic compounds of their reactions, which are important in the human body or are found in pharmaceutical active substances, poisons, foodstuffs and heat-treated food. The last part of the textbook describes the isomerism of organic compounds, which enables dynamic changes in the structure of molecules that have different properties. Nature is filled with different plants and animals and is the first laboratory to produce bioactive organic natural compounds. These compounds are compatible with human cells and are applicable as therapeutic medicine. There is an effort to reproduce natural molecules in chemical laboratories, but they cannot be as perfect as the natural ones. Synthetic molecules can serve as a model for multiple studies, but there still does not exist a magic panacea pill or a perfect copy of nature, for the treatment of various diseases. Knowledge about the regenerative and toxic effect of medicinal substances in dependence on their structure (type and number of substituents) is very important for the understanding of their role in modulation of health and disease in dependence on their concentration. Compounds can be used daily only in recommended doses (higher doses can be toxic), but still will not replace a healthy diet. People need a varied diet to be healthy, in which are all necessary nutrients, what Hippocrates demonstrated long ago “Let food be the medicine, and let medicine be the food.” This book is written for students who select bioorganic chemistry subject during the study of general medicine or dentistry as well as for motivated students who would like to practice their knowledge and wish to improve in this subject and for students who would like to learn simplified basic organic reactions with their future application in biochemistry. Learn the simple models mainly through creative simple instruction by using different colours, by repetition, practice by drawing of formulas by hand (at least three times) and memorization of common names of compounds and their reactions which have application in biochemistry. Thus, establishing simple educational methods how to distinguish organic molecules according to the colours of a functional group can promote universal learning for all students who thought that chemistry is a difficult subject, but hopefully they change their opinion after study of this book.

The Civil Code is one of the fundamental legal codifications of our time. Paradoxically, in the Slovak Republic, the 1964 Code still applies today, albeit with certain modifications brought by the modern era. Currently, recodification efforts are underway, with the goal of adopting a new Civil Code.
However, it is not possible to build something new without knowledge of the old. It is therefore a positive sign when legal historians and civil law experts come together at a conference to exchange views and insights. The Department of State and Legal History at the Faculty of Law in Košice is in its first year of working on the scientific grant project VEGA: The Historical-Legal Development of the Institute of the Sales Contract and Trends in Its Current Recodification in the Slovak Republic - No. 1/0131/13.
This project was acquired as a historical-legal initiative, but the Department of Civil Law is also participating, as Assoc. Prof. JUDr. K. Kirstová, CSc., is the deputy head of the project. Aware that this represents a completely unique connection between legal history and practice, our department organized the international scientific conference The Sales Contract - History and Present I. on September 27, 2013, which was a planned grant output but ultimately coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Law in Košice.
This proceedings volume thus summarizes contributions from the grant project, as well as related presentations. It aims to significantly contribute to the understanding of the history and current recodification efforts of the sales contract institution both domestically and internationally.

This is a supporting text for the undergraduate students interested in quan- tum theory of magnetism. The text represents an introduction to various theoretical approaches used in this eld. It is an open material, in the sense that it will be supported by appropriate problems to be solved by student at seminars and also as a homework.
The text consists of four chapters that form closed themes of the in- troductory quantum theory of magnetism. In the rst part we explain the quantum origin of the magnetism illustrating the appearance of the ex- change interaction for the case of hydrogen molecule. The second chapter is devoted to the application of the Bogolyubov inequality to the Heisenberg model and it represents the part which is usually missing in the textbooks of magnetism. The third chapter deals with the standard spin wave-theory including the Bloch and Holstein-Primakoff a approach. Finally, we discuss the application of the Jordan-Wigner transformation to one-dimensional spin-1/2 XY model.
The primary ambition of this supportive text is to explain diverse math- ematical methods and their applications in the quantum theory of mag- netism. The text is written in the form which should be sufficient to de- velop the skills of the students up to the very high level. In fact, it is expected that students following this course will able to make their own original applications of the methods presented in this book.

This little book started out in a way that probably many other scholarly publications do: When the five of us met as doctoral students and instructors in the Department of British and American Studies, we soon realized that our research overlapped on a number of points. Most prominent among those was our interest in political or politicallymotivated discourse and the study of myths and manipulation that it employed.
In the end, we decided to pool the results of our research together in order to create a more complex picture, providing a variety of perspectives and voices. In our endeavor, we were greatly aided by the financial support we received from a grant offered by the Šafárik University. The outcome of these efforts is the five chapters of this brief, but hopefully informative and insightful monograph.
In Chapter 1, Viktória Marcinová deals with the impact of totalitarian ideology on the translation of so-called “capitalist” drama during the first stage of normalization in Slovakia (1948-1968). In Chapter 2, the focus shifts to political discourse and manipulation in a democracy, as Jaroslav Marcin takes a closer look at the wartime rhetoric of American presidents. USA remains the focus also in Chapter 3, but this time the question, addressed by Martina Martausová, will be one of the myth of the American Dream and its presentation in post-9/11 United States. A similar idea, though in a different geographical-cultural context, is dealt with in Chapter 4, where Božena Velebná identifies myths of Scottish identity as portrayed in historic films. Finally, in Chapter 5, Eduard Soták will take a look at the role of the mass media within the topic of politically-motivated discourse and spread of political ideology.

The book is the result of long-term contemplation on the relationships between the history of philosophy and its reflection in more or less systematic, or non-systematic forms of philosophizing of the most significant philosophical teachings of the 19th and 20th centuries (Hegel, Schelling, Marx, Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger, Fink, Patočka, and Gadamer).
The primary goal of the work is to present the most significant historical-philosophical teachings of the 19th and 20th centuries in the formation and fulfillment of strong and weak models of the philosophy of the history of philosophy in the concepts of Hegel, Schelling, Marx, Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger, Fink, Patočka, and Gadamer.
The results of the philosophy of the history of philosophy are presented here as a metatheoretical movement within historical-philosophical thinking, whose aim is not to empirically describe the historical-philosophical process, but to understand and explain it as an inseparable part of the most significant philosophical problems – what is philosophy, what is metaphysics, and the question of being.

Všeobecná dermatovenerológia je nosnou časťou dermatovenerológie. Morfológia, popis a charakteristika jednotlivých eflorescencií sú kľúčové v diagnostike a diferenciácii kožných ochorení spolu s dobre odobratou anamnézou. Snahou bolo vytvoriť vysokoškolský učebný text, ktorý tvorí praktický návod ako vyšetrovať pacienta s kožným ochorením. Cieľom jednotlivých kapitol je dokonale si osvojiť dermatologickú terminológiu, fyzikálnym vyšetrením vnímať špeciálne kožné znaky a zmeny, vedieť sa orientovať v algoritme pomocných vyšetrovacích metód a testov a pochopiť rozdielne vlastnosti a charakteristiku kože vzhľadom na vek pacienta, vznik, priebeh a trvanie kožných prejavov. Posledná kapitola predstavuje praktickú topografiu kožných ochorení v tabuľkách. Dermatovenerológia patrí k interdisciplinárnym odborom, preto všeobecná dermatológia bude určite dobrým sprievodcom pri diagnostike kožných ochorení nielen študentov medicíny, ale aj lekárov prvého kontaktu a styčných odborov.

The book was prepared to mark an important anniversary – one hundred years of our national currency. It was written by a team of Czech National Bank experts headed by CNB Vice-Governor, Professor Vladimír Tomšík. This publication charts the monetary policy history of our central bank (or, to use older terminology, the bank of issue) and describes its institutional development and the banknotes it has issued over time. It covers the period from the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak state in October 1918 and its currency in February 1919 to the present. We have therefore named the publication 100 years of the koruna. Given the twists and turns of history, however, part of the narrative relates to the joint Czechoslovak state, part to the occupied Protectorate and part to the independent Czech Republic. As a result, the original joint Czechoslovak currency was divided temporarily in 1939–1945 and then again – this time for good – in 1993. From that point on, the currencies of the two successor states went their own ways, the Czech koruna continuing to the present day and the Slovak koruna until it was replaced by the single European currency in 2009.

The present monograph "Regionalism and its Contribution to General International Law" was written at the Institute of European Law and Department of International Law, Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice, as a part of the project (APVV-O823-11) carried out in 2011-2015, representing one of its final publication utputs.
The main reason for choosing the topic was to evaluate regionalism in its various relationships and forms with respect to international law, and also to evaluate the place,importance and duties of international law in respect to the establishment and functioning of various forms of regionalgroups.
It is a fact that even though a lot of attention has been paid to regionalism, a more complex evaluation of the impact it has had on international law, and vice versa, is still lacking. The efforts of the present monograph are to partially eliminate this gap.
After giving a brief insight into how regionalism has developed, its content and terminology, the monograph studies in more details individual types of regionalism in the form of old and new regionalism, as well as treaty and institutional regionalism; its specifications and contributions to the international law.

Clinical procedures are an essential component of nursing practice. The textbook contains four main chapters. Each chapter begins with a general explanation of the topic, followed by detailed method description of procedures to help students deliver high - quality care to patients. The textbook strongly describes bandages because a carelessly or improperly applied bandage can cause discomfort to the patient, in many cases it may expose the wound to the danger of infection.
