Plastická chirurgia je vysoko špecializovaný medicínsky odbor, ktorý sa zaoberá korekciou defektov, rekonštrukciou a zdokonaľovaním ľudského tela.

Náplňou plastickej chirurgie je korekcia rôznych defektov, vrodených i získaných. Medzi vrodené chyby patria deformity tváre, rázštepy pery a podnebia, deformity ušnice, vrodené vývojové chyby končatín. Najčastejšie získané defekty sú po poraneniach, po chirurgických výkonoch, po fyzikálnych poškodeniach kože a štruktúr krytých kožou.

Do plastickej chirurgie patrí i estetická chirurgia, onkochirurgia a mikrochirurgia, ktorá si zaslúži osobitnú pozornosť. Novými trendami v estetickej chirurgii je rekonštrukcia pomocou tukového tkaniva, kmeňových buniek, používanie rôznych umelých materiálov a implantátov.

Predložené učebné texty v jednotlivých kapitolách popisujú základné princípy plastickej chirurgie, používanie lalokových plastík a iné možnosti krytia defektov. V ôsmych kapitolách sú jednotlivo popísané chirurgické možnosti rekonštrukcie tváre, trupu a končatín. Učebné texty venujú pozornosť malígnym a benígnym kožným tumorom a ich liečbe. Posledná kapitola sa zaoberá najčastejšími estetickými operáciami ako sú augmentácia a redukcia prsníkov, facelifting či blefaroplastika.

V predloženej učebnici si autori predsavzali zhrnúť informácie, ktoré pre úspešné absolvovanie predmetu Anestéziológia a intenzívna medicína považujú za esenciálne. Množstvo textu je stranovo limitované, preto si nemožno nárokovať na kompletnosť zhrnutej problematiky. Predpokladá sa, že študent na preukázanie vedomostí v študijnom predmete Anestéziológia a intenzívna medicína využije aj poznatky a skúsenosti nadobudnuté počas prednášok, praktických cvičení a samostatného štúdia iných dostupných zdrojov podľa zverejneného obsahu okruhov tém vyžadovaných na skúšku.

The book presents a global and national picture of mortality, emphasizes the importance of prevention and screening, and introduces the basic principles of risk assessment. Special attention is paid to risk factors and modifiers that can significantly change a patient's prognosis. For a better understanding of the issue, the reader will also find chapters devoted to clinical conditions, an overview of scoring systems, risk categories, and finally practical examples from clinical practice that link theory with everyday medical reality. Our goal is for this book to be not only an educational tool, but also a practical guide for decision-making in clinical practice. S vývojom endovaskulárnej chirurgie dochádza postupne k rozvoju stentingu ACI. Minimálne invazívny prístup spravil túto metodiku vhodnú pre pacientov s vážnymi konkomitatnými kardiálnymi alebo pľúcnymi ochoreniami. Ďalšou výhodou v porovnaní s chirurgickou liečbou bol lepší prístup k ACI u pacientov po rádioterapii, po predchádzajúcich operáciách na krku, ale aj u pacientov so stenózami blízko lebečnej bázy. Porovnanie CEA vs CAS je zaujímavou a diskutabilnou témou mnohých štúdií. Avšak, aj napriek celosvetovému mohutnému rozvoju endovaskulárnej liečby karotická endarterektómia ostáva zlatým štandardom liečby stenózy ACI u symptomatických aj asymptomatických pacientov.

V tejto monografii by sme radi akcentovali a systematizovali problematiku chirurgickej prevencie CMP z pohľadu cievneho chirurga.

With the development of endovascular surgery, there is a gradual advancement in ACI stenting. The minimally invasive approach has made this methodology suitable for patients with serious concomitant cardiac or pulmonary diseases. Another advantage compared to surgical treatment was better access to the ICA in patients after radiotherapy, after previous neck surgeries, as well as in patients with stenoses close to the skull base.

The comparison of CEA vs CAS is an interesting and debatable topic in many studies. However, despite the massive global development of endovascular treatment, carotid endarterectomy remains the gold standard for treating ICA stenosis in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. In this monograph, we would like to accentuate and systematize the issue of surgical stroke prevention from the perspective of a vascular surgeon.

Forensic Medicine is a medical discipline that is concerned with determination of the cause of death in cases violent and non-violent deaths by performing an autopsy. It is based on morphological findings, which characterize the effects of various forms of violence, as well as pathological changes in various diseases. The presented textbook provides comprehensive and complete overview of the fundamental tasks and theoretical knowledge of the field of forensic medicine. Its aim is to provide a theoretical basis in the form of images of morphological autopsy findings for the study of the compulsory subject Forensic Medicine and Medical Law in the study programs General Medicine and Dentistry. The author emphasizes the necessity to understand the fundamentals of forensic medicine in every medical field and a multidisciplinary approach in clarifying medico-legal issues.
