Giftedness and creativity represent closely interconnected phenomena that attract attention in various contexts from the perspectives of different scientific disciplines. Psychologists have long been engaged in understanding giftedness and creativity, as well as in developing them through scientific methods, in order to provide valuable insights to educators, parents, students, and even policymakers, with the aim of fostering the potential of gifted and creative individuals.

This textbook offers information about the essence of giftedness and creativity, about model approaches used for their identification, development, and support, with an emphasis on psychological aspects. "The presented peer-reviewed collection of contributions titled "Present and Future of Social Work in the Reflection of Social Changes" is the output of a scientific conference with international participation, marking the 10th anniversary of the Košické dni sociálnej práce, held on November 25, 2022.

The conference was dedicated to the vision of social work, its methods, and techniques in the context of societal changes. With the changing times come new challenges to which social work must be prepared to respond. The central focus of the collection is the search for answers to pre-defined questions: "Is the current social work system adequately configured for current societal problems? Can social work promptly respond to new and unknown challenges? Are the known methods of social work effective in dealing with contemporary negative phenomena? Do we need additional methods?

If so, what are they?" Individual contributions touch on theoretical concepts in the search for answers, but they also include empirically based contributions that reflect research results from various areas of society and problematic situations, with a view to providing recommendations for both the theory and practice of social work.

The main objective of the scientific conference NANOVIR was the presentation of scientific results obtained during the implementation of the NANOVIR project – Nanoparticles for solving diagnostic and therapeutic problems with COVID-19, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the Operational Programme Integrated Infrastructure 2014 – 2020, ITMS: 313011AUW7.

The project was carried out from January 1, 2021, to June 30, 2023, and was supported with a sum of EUR 1,916,004.79. Three co-investigating organizations participated in the project: Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice as the main investigator, the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice as partner no. 1, and the Institute of Experimental Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences as partner no. 2.

Zámerom autorky textu je uľahčiť pochopenie základných atribútov pracovného práva prostredníctvom identifikácie ťažiskových právnych inštitútov a právne významných väzieb medzi nimi s ohľadom na verejnoprávne zameranie.

The monograph entitled The first Slovak women’s magazines: Dennica, Živena, Slovenská žena (1898–1923) provides a general view of the initial stage of the formation of women’s magazine production in Slovakia, defined by a period of 25 years at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries between 1898 and 1923, in the context of the historical and social development, to which the Slovak journalistic milieu inevitably responded.

The publication is a result of detailed material research of Slovak historical periodicals, implemented mainly from the perspective of the mediological methods and standards of research work.

Hand in hand is changing our way of life, the intake of calories is growing and the amount of physical activity decreasing. We live longer and maybe happier but our hearts
and vessels are like mirrors showing us how we live. Diseases of the Heart and vessels have become the number one cause of death in highly developed countries including our homeland.
Prevention of cardiovascular diseases has become and an important social and health care system issue. The knowledge requirement of basic principles of cardiology and heart surgery is increasing. Without an understanding of basic principles a good clinical practice is hardly possible.
Together with my Colleagues of Heart surgery department of VÚSCH and LF UPJŠ we prepared this short overview of basic knowledge about surgery of the human heart. We hope that reading it will be more an adventure than a painful journey. If you find some answers to your unanswered questions our effort was not a waste of time.

The publication "News in Diabetology and Lipidology" focuses on extremely relevant topics in diabetology and lipidology, reflecting the state of these issues in light of the recommendations from professional societies from 2019. In diabetology, it primarily addresses the intensification of antidiabetic treatment using modern drug classes—specifically, incretin enhancers and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors (gliflozins). Few medical fields have experienced such a development of new pharmacological options as diabetology has in the last two decades. While pharmacotherapy for type 2 diabetes (DM2) was limited to the use of biguanides, sulfonylurea derivatives, and insulin throughout the second half of the last century, recent years have introduced entirely new groups of oral antidiabetics with cardio- and nephroprotective effects. In lipidology, it pertains to the new recommendations from the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) with new treatment goals for serum lipids and lipoproteins, including the use of biological therapies.

This textbook is primarily intended for medical students in doctoral studies and doctoral candidates, as well as for physicians preparing for specialization exams in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetology, metabolic disorders and nutrition, as well as cardiology and angiology. I believe that readers will find information in this publication that will aid them in their studies and translate into their daily clinical practice.

The authors address the current view on the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes mellitus, while the following sections are devoted to classification, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and epidemiology of diabetes. The work provides insights into outpatient therapeutic management of patients by specialists and during hospitalisation for acute complications of diabetes, taking into account the latest recommendations from the last two years. Separate chapters are devoted to the management of associated and concomitant diseases, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, or complications of diabetes, including cardiovascular complications, neuropathy, nephropathy, and ocular complications. The work also discusses the issue of diabetes mellitus in pregnancy, including gestational diabetes mellitus. A special chapter, written by a co-author, is devoted to the issue of osteoporosis in patients with diabetes mellitus.

We wrote this book with the aim of supporting the expansion of ultimate frisbee in Slovakia. This sport is experiencing rapid growth not only in the number of recreational enthusiasts but also in the ranks of competitive players. Its popularity is rising for several reasons. Ultimate frisbee is an attractive, dynamic game that is easily accessible in terms of equipment and space requirements. Although it may appear to be a sport for the young, it certainly offers athletic opportunities for people of all ages.

The character of the game is a textbook example of fair play behavior. It is well known in sports that if, in addition to simply playing, we also focus on the technique of a particular discipline-in our case, the game itself-the sense of enjoyment increases. Therefore, another goal of ours was to provide fundamental knowledge about the origins of ultimate frisbee, its rules, the structure of athletic performance, and the methodology for practicing selected game activities. We primarily drew from foreign ultimate frisbee publications and relevant domestic works related to the topic. The most valuable contribution of this monograph is the translation of empirical experience from many years of practice, including the national team and coaching experience of the main author, into the following pages.

This pertains to the elaboration of methodological approaches to training in the sports process. There is certainly much more knowledge needed for perfect mastery of the game of ultimate frisbee. For now, we have tried to provide the basics that will allow people to play frisbee “athletically” and with a certain “player standard.” Ultimate frisbee will offer new dimensions of sporting experience and can also become a valuable addition to a healthy lifestyle for the modern individual.
