Publikácia je určená študentom nelekárskych odborov, predovšetkým študentom ošetrovateľstva, urgentnej zdravotnej starostlivosti, psychológie, pedagogiky a sociológie, ako aj absolventom daných odborov. Jej cieľom je poskytnúť kompaktného a praktického sprievodcu v starostlivosti o psychicky chorých.

Študentom daných odborov poskytuje základné informácie o duševných poruchách a psychopatologických stavoch, o ich príčinách, diagnostike a liečbe, ktoré tvoria teoretickú bázu na pochopenie potrieb pacientov s duševnými ťažkosťami.

In 2007, the philosophical world commemorated an extraordinary anniversary - two hundred years since the first publication of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel's brilliant work The Phenomenology of Spirit (1807). Of course, we can have different value scales of the most important philosophical works written in the history of philosophy, but the above-mentioned work of Hegel should certainly not be absent from the top places in them. Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit decisively changed the philosophical discourse of the 19th century and greatly influenced philosophy in the 20th century. Few of the great philosophers after Hegel could afford to pass over the philosophical work of the 1807 supreme representative of German classical philosophy and not draw, either positively or critically, on his philosophical legacy.

The philosophical conference entitled Hegel's "Phenomenology of Spirit" and the Present, dedicated to Hegel's work Phenomenology of Spirit, was prepared by the Department of Philosophy and History of Philosophy of the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in cooperation with the Slovak Philosophical Association at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava on October 4, 2007 and was organized by the Slovak Philosophical Association in Košice.

Peer-reviewed proceedings of the scientific conference, which took place on 27.11.2015 at the Faculty of Public Administration, UPJŠ v Košice, Popradská 66, 041 32 Košice

Territorial self-government forms an integral part of a modern democratic and legal state. It is an expression of efforts to implement tasks to ensure the needs of the territorial community of citizens at the level that is closest to them.

One of the most important tools at the disposal of local self-government units in the performance of the tasks entrusted to them is the power to issue general binding regulations in matters of local self-government and to ensure the tasks arising for local self-government from the law. Law-making at the level of towns and municipalities or higher territorial units is thus an integral part of the exercise of territorial self-government and ultimately expresses its specific character as an essential part of public administration.

The aim of the scientific conference organized by the Department of Public Law Disciplines, Faculty of Public Administration, UPJŠ in Košice on 27 November 2015 was an effort to present the achieved results of scientific research activities in the field of law-making at the level of cities and municipalities, or higher territorial units. The conference provided a wide space for discussion on current issues of municipal standard-setting with the participation of representatives of the professional public, as well as representatives of local government and local self-government.

The scientific conference and the peer-reviewed proceedings of the conference were realized as a part of the solution of the VEGA grant project No. 1/0683/13 under the title "Normative Formation of Municipalities in the Matters of Local Self-Government. The present collection of papers from the scientific conference is an expression of the long-term efforts of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Public Administration, UPJŠ in Košice to address current issues of public administration with a special focus on the issue of local government.

Farmaceuti, lekárnici, odborníci za tarou sú prioritne považovaní za špecialistov v oblasti terapeutického užívania liečiv. Dopĺňajú multidisciplinárny tým s cieľom optimalizácie farmakoterapie pacienta, vrátane edukácie a zvyšovania adherencie k stanovenej liečbe. Ďalšou z ich úloh je sledovať dodržiavanie liečebných režimov za súčasného zlepšovania kvality života pacienta.

Nakoľko je v rámci poradenskej a konzultačnej činnosti lekáreň často miestom prvého kontaktu medzi pacientom a zdravotníckym pracovníkom poskytujú lekárnici, farmaceuti (okrem iného) aj služby zahŕňajúce manažment voľno predajných liekov. V tomto kontexte je preto nevyhnutné, aby vedeli správne interpretovať a uplatňovať vedomosti o farmakodynamike resp. farmakokinetike liečiv a boli schopní aj otvorenej komunikácie s lekármi pri identifikácii vzniknutých zdravotných problémov. V tom im pomôže táto publikácia vytvorená odborníkmi z oblasti farmácie, ktorá interaktívnym spôsobom prevedie používateľa teoretickým obsahom vírusových infekcií horných dýchacích ciest, podporou imunity, manažmentom gastrointestinálnych ťažkostí a konceptom personalizovanej medicíny.

Formou praktických cvičení, modelových prípadov a iných zaujímavých úloh sa čitateľ zamyslí nad zaujímavými a zdanlivo bežnými skutočnosťami.

Učebnice přináší poznatky z moderní lékařské biologie s důrazem na genetiku a molekulární biologii a jejich aplikace v medicíně. Svým rozsahem i podáním je kompromisem mezi obsažnými odbornými texty (vysokoškolskými skripty apod.) a středoškolskými učebnicemi či populárně naučnými díly přinášejícími pouze základní, často i značně zjednodušené údaje. Napsána je tak lehce a srozumitelně, že si ji může číst kdokoliv se zájmem o tematiku.

Je určena studentům zdravotnických bakalářských oborů na lékařských i jiných fakultách. Jako úvod do učiva biologie a genetiky knihu využijí i studenti medicíny. Je určena také pro středoškoláky, kteří uvažují o studiu medicíny nebo bakalářských oborů se zdravotnickým zaměřením. Těm by měla pomoci zejména při přípravě na přijímací zkoušky.

For a non-governmental organization to be successful, it must focus, among other things, on its main goal of spreading its vision and mission to another area. It can achieve success by increasing its visibility and raising awareness about its activities in society, sending a clear message, and maintaining transparency.

The monograph deals with specific areas in which non-profit NGOs are active, i.e. marketing and fundraising. Both these areas are of key importance for the NGO’s success, therefore they require particular attention. It is well known that NGOs lack proper support in Slovakia and their funding is insufficient given the demand for their services. NGOs therefore search for multiple sources of funding and use marketing as a tool.

The monograph explains the importance of NGOs in the non-profit sector and justifies the tools they employ when navigating the commercial space.

The university textbook deals with the latest knowledge from the systematics of vascular plants in a clear manner. Vascular plants arose in the Silurian period in the Paleozoic, when the first primitive plants moved from water to dry land, which required evolutionary progress in the morphological and anatomical structure of these plants. During about 420 million years of the existence of vascular plants, several of their main groups have evolved: the spore vascular plants, including the lycopods (branch Lycopodiophyta) and group of ferns and related plants (branch Monilophyta), and the seed plants, including gymnosperms (branch Gymnospermae) and angiosperms ( Angiospermae), which currently dominate among plants. The textbook provides a brief but comprehensive overview of the main groups, orders and families of plants with their description, distribution, main representatives, while also addressing the useful properties of selected species. The work is complemented by an overview of the system of plants by Cronquist, Tachtadžjan, APG and an overview of the families of the Slovak flora, as well as a taxonomic index.

Autorka v knize komplexně sumarizuje teoretické poznatky, možnosti posouzení a diagnostiky zátěže pečovatelů v klinické praxi a také plánování intervencí k její minimalizaci. V současném ošetřovatelství je zátěž pečovatele velmi diskutovaným tématem a je jednou ze sledovaných položek v hodnocení kvality života pečovatele.

Kniha detailně pojednává o infekčních nemocech dolních cest dýchacích od trachey po terminální bronchioly, plicního parenchym a oblasti pohrudnice a pohrudniční dutiny. Tato postižení patří k nejčastějším, a to nejen infekčním, chorobám postihujícím lidstvo. Řada z nich se vyznačuje značnou morbiditou a mortalitou. Jejich výskyt je modifikován demografickými změnami, změnami v životním prostředí i rozvojem medicíny, a to v dobrém i zlém. Příkladem, který nám ukazuje, jak nás tyto nemoci mohou stále překvapovat a ohrožovat, je COVID-19 infekce. Ani v budoucnosti nemůžeme vyloučit další, bohužel možná i závažnější respirační infekce.

Kniha přináší komplexní až „holistický“ pohled na tato infekční onemocnění, respektive na takto nemocného člověka. Diagnostika a léčba těchto chorob jsou primárně v rukou pneumologů, ale jak ukazuje i rozsáhlý kolektiv autorů této publikace, je v řadě případů nutná multioborová spolupráce v péči o nemocné. Pozornost je zaměřena nejen na tradiční diagnostický a léčebný koncept, ale důstojné místo je věnováno i rehabilitaci, psychologické podpoře a ošetřovatelské péči v rámci celostního pohledu na nemocného.

Kniha je určena internistům, praktickým lékařům, pneumologům, chirurgům, intenzivistům, infekcionistům a studentům lékařských fakult.

In these university textbooks, we focus on theoretical knowledge in the field of machine learning in which we present the creation of concepts for objects, the preparation of concepts, hypotheses and the process of learning from examples. We describe Boolean formulas and their representations, probabilistic learning, linear and logistic regression, linear modeling and classification. Clustering and the Bayesian approach to machine learning conclude this publication.

University textbooks are intended for students of master's degree programs in computer science.

Proceedings of the International Scientific Seminar "Public Administration as a Provider of Public Services of a Social State - Utilising Foreign Experience for Reforms in the Slovak Republic" held at the Faculty of Public Administration, UPJŠ, Popradská 66 in Košice on 24 November 2017

Public services represent an increasingly expanding segment of the public sector. This growth can be identified primarily horizontally – from services related to general security and other forms of state functionality, through technical infrastructure, postal and telecommunications services, transportation, and information services, to increasingly emphasized healthcare, cultural, educational, and social services. Simultaneously, the entire structure of public services is expanding vertically, particularly in depth: within each area, the range of provided services is broadening.

In this context, the importance of optimizing the structure of service providers is growing, which is the focus of such reform processes as decentralization, deconcentration, privatization, or other forms of structural transformation. The outcome may vary under different conditions, resulting in diverse provider structures for public services of the social state, where the state and its bodies or organizations continue to hold a significant position.

Consequently, the significance of the public administration model as the primary state provider of these services is increasing: due to these processes, countries develop distinct and sometimes incomparable systems of public service providers, even within state bodies or organizations acting on behalf of the state. However, the varying effectiveness of public service delivery systems by public administration bodies remains a persistent reality.
