V úvodných statiach učebnice sa autori zamerali na objasnenie základnej terminológie a stručne poukazujú na vývoj sociálneho práva v Únii. Ďalšie kapitoly práce postupne vysvetľujú vybranú problematiku ktorá celkovo dotvára sociálne právo Európskej únie, konkrétne – voľný pohyb zamestnancov, zákaz diskriminácie, flexibilitu pracovných vzťahov prostredníctvom atypických pracovných pomerov, dočasné pridelenie zamestnancov, ochranu osobitných kategórií zamestnancov, ochranu osobných údajov, oblasť bezpečnosti a ochrany zdravia pri práci, ochranu práv zamestnancov pri prevode, prechode zamestnávateľa a jeho platobnej neschopnosti, kolektívnu ochranu práv zamestnancov a napokon uplatňovanie systémov sociálneho zabezpečenia. Učebnica analyzuje predovšetkým úniovú úpravu s akcentom na rozhodnú judikatúru Súdneho dvora Európskej únie, vnútroštátny právny poriadok objasňuje iba vo vybraných problematických oblastiach.

Proceedings from the VI. Student Symposium on Commercial Law Held on November 28, 2018, at the Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice

The Department of Commercial and Economic Law at the Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, organized the sixth annual Student Symposium on Commercial Law on November 28, 2018. The event was part of the research project VEGA 1/0917/16 titled "Atypical and De Facto Relationships in Commercial Law." The symposium aims to provide a platform for discussion among students with the guidance of mentors from the department, including professors, researchers, and doctoral candidates.

This year’s symposium focused on protection against anti-competitive practices. Unchecked anti-competitive behavior could grant economic advantages to violators at the expense of other competitors and threaten the free-market system. Students explored various challenges related to competition law, analyzing Slovak and European legal frameworks as well as court rulings and decisions by other authorities. Through their research, students honed their analytical thinking, argumentation skills, and critical reasoning. The discussions generated new perspectives and encouraged active engagement among participants.

This proceedings volume presents the outcomes of students' work from this event.

The proceedings are the result of student works presented at the fifth annual student symposium organized by the Department of Commercial Law and Economic Law, Faculty of Law, UPJŠ in Košice, which took place on November 30 – December 1, 2017, at the UPJŠ educational and training facility in Danišovce.

This year’s symposium focused on problematic issues related to creditor rights protection in commercial contractual relationships.

The purpose of these annually organized symposia is to provide students with a platform to present their own opinions and improve their analytical and argumentation skills.

Proceedings from the 3rd Student Symposium on Commercial Law

In November 2015, the third annual Student Symposium on Commercial Law took place at the university facility in Danišovce.

After two years of symposia focused on company law, the main topic of the third edition was the general part of commercial obligations law. This year as well, the goal of the student symposium remained to provide more space for students to formulate their own perspectives on current legal issues and to present the results of their own work.

The overarching topic made it possible to assign several current issues, allowing students to tackle problems they are likely to encounter in their future practice. The selected topics are not among those unanimously accepted by legal doctrine or established case law. On the contrary, the topics were deliberately chosen for the lack of sufficient domestic literary sources. As a result, processing the individual topics required more than just standard textbook or commentary knowledge.

The participating members of the department, both teachers and doctoral candidates, acted this year primarily as contact persons, rather than as consultants or supervisors of the students’ work. The primary purpose of the symposium at the faculty is to enable students interested in commercial law to develop their analytical and argumentative skills, as well as to express their personalities. We aim for students to develop not only professional knowledge but also personal skills-so-called soft skills-the art of presenting their own opinions and arguing persuasively.

This proceedings of scientific papers presents papers from the international scientific conference of the same name, which took place from 24 to 26 September 2025 at the UPJŠ in Košice and was supported by the projects APVV-23-0158 "Reform of the Customs Union in the Era of Electronic Commerce in the Slovak Republic" and VEGA 1/0698/25 "Development Fee as a Tool for the Development of Municipalities and Cities in the Slovak Republic". Individual papers are aimed at addressing current issues of tax law, budgetary law and financial market law in the context of the challenges of the ongoing multi-crisis (starting with the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the extreme increase in energy and other supplies costs or inflation, and the subsequent need for consolidation of public finances). The papers are divided into two parts, where in the first part, indivídua! authors focus on national reports - a comprehensive assessment of the impacts of the aforementioned multi-crisis in individual V4 countries - in the areas of taxes, budgets and financial markets, and in the second part, individua! Authors focus on more specific issues in the aforementioned three thematic areas.

The peer-reviewed Proceeding of Scientific Papers is dedicated to the issue of the European Public Prosecutor's Office and is the result of a scientific project APVV-18-0421 European Public Prosecutor's Office in Connections of the Constitutional Order of the Slovak Republic as Strengthening of the European Integration through Law.

In their works, the authors of scientific papers, dealt with the issue of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in the context of European Union law and criminal law, as well as the relation of the European Public Prosecutor's Office with the national prosecutor's office and law enforcement authorities. The scientific works published in the proceeding dealt with the topics of the reasons for the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, the position of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in the institutional system of the EU and the Slovak Republic, relations of cooperation and coordination between the European Public Prosecutor's Office and the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Slovak Republic, the protection of the constitutionality and legality of the procedures and decisions of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, with special attention to the protection of fundamental rights, as well as the first result and evaluation of the operation of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in the Slovak Republic.

Thanks to the content of scientific papers, the reader can get a more comprehensive idea of this new body of the European Union, which operates in an area traditionally associated with state sovereignty and represents another step forward in the integration processes represented by the European Union.

The aim of the annually organized symposiums is to create a discussion platform for students with the participation of mentors from the department, including teachers, researchers, and doctoral students. This year’s symposium focused on problematic issues related to the legal status of a partner in a commercial company. The topics were assigned to allow students to demonstrate and develop their analytical and argumentative skills while improving their ability to present and formulate their own views and perspectives.

The presented proceedings are the outcome of the students' work from this event.

The work "Case Studies in Administrative Law" is an extensive and practice-oriented publication primarily intended for students of law faculties and universities with a focus on public administration. Its main objective is to deepen the reader’s knowledge in various areas of administrative law through specific case studies, with an emphasis on the application of legal norms in real-life situations. The publication consists of 20 thematically organized chapters that cover a wide range of administrative agendas, such as internal administration, trade licensing, environmental protection, healthcare, transportation, education, justice, and national defense.

Each chapter contains multiple casuistic cases, in which the reader encounters practical problems and must assess the legality of administrative procedures, the substantive and territorial jurisdiction of public authorities, and the application of relevant legal regulations. The case studies are presented systematically—beginning with a factual scenario, followed by a legal analysis based on applicable legislation.

The work is exceptional for its comprehensiveness, up-to-date content, and emphasis on interdisciplinary connections within administrative law. In the environment of Slovak employers, an active approach to diversity and inclusion in the workplace is coming to the fore. Targeted diversity and inclusion programs help make employers more attractive on the labor market and attract more job seekers. Proactively, better working conditions are created for employees with responsibilities to the family (in most cases still in relation to mothers), groups of people who have been on the fringes of interest until now are also employed (elderly, disabled, LGBT groups, minorities, graduates of secondary and higher education schools).

The presented collection of abstracts responds to the outlined facts, which is a grouping of the starting motives and conclusions of the contributions presented at the scientific conference Diverse and inclusive workplaces - legislative starting points organized by the department of labor law and social security law of the Faculty of Law of the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, which took place on September 29, 2023 in a hybrid form.

With their abstracts, the authors point to a range of problematic areas that are not only a reflection of academic considerations, but also those legal questions that have to be dealt with in ordinary legal practice. The goal is to use analysis and explanation to define the existing labor law measures/tools applicable to the implementation of diversity and inclusion in the workplace according to the current Slovak legal framework and the EU legal framework and thus emphasize the starting point of any effort to build diversity and the implementation of inclusion in the workplace.

Within the project APVV-16-0160 "Tax evasion and tax avoidance (motivation factors , formation and elimination)" was organized conference called III. SLOVAK-CZECH DAYS OF TAX LAW " Positive and Negative Stimulation of the State in the Area of Taxation ". From this conference was prepared the eponymous output in the form of reviewed proceedings of scientific works.

In this publication is published the contributions from several prominent personalities of tax law science in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. lndividual contributions map tax legislation and also changes due to the development of tax legislation , especially under the influence of European Union law. Th ese changes are approached in the context of their specific economic impacts and their impact on status and legal relations in the business and social field . The main topics elaborated in the individual contributions are in particular: EU activities in relation to tax fraud and tax evasion, the impact of tax construction on the act of the addressees of tax law and tax policy of the state and its economic impacts.

The publication presents one of the most actual topics in the current legal and economic environment.

This scientific proceedings volume serves as the final joint publication output of essentially the entire research team of the aforementioned scientific project. It consists of contributions presented at the scientific seminar The Constitution of the Slovak Republic and Its Perspectives. Improving the Constitutional Text and Increasing the Authority of the Slovak Constitution – A Real Possibility or a Naive Illusion? held from November 23 to 25, 2022, at the training and educational facility of UPJŠ in Košice, Danišovce. The final form of the contributions emerged from the constructive scientific discourse that accompanied the entire course of this seminar.

The content of this scientific proceedings volume, which we offer not only to the broad (especially legal-political) professional public but also primarily to Slovak constitution makers, includes, alongside contributions from members of the research team and invited guests, the literary debut works of doctoral students from the organizing Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Faculty of Law of UPJŠ and the Department of Public Law Disciplines of the Faculty of Public Administration of UPJŠ in Košice. The legal regulation of occupational health and the process of assessing the health capacity is one of the manifestations of fulfilling the protective function of labour law.

Due to the importance of pursuing the interest in protecting the life and health of the individual during his working life, as well as the consequences of damage to the employee's health for further work and continuance of employment relationship, research in this area finds its irreplaceable place in legal science. Its topicality is also highlighted by the emerging risks of work and the working environment. The proceedings Consumers and Traders Online: Legal and Economic Challenges of Digital Markets present a collection of scientific studies addressing contemporary issues of digital market functioning within the European Union. The contributions analyse legal, economic and technological dimensions of digital services, particularly in the context of the VEGA project 1/0431/23 focused on the conflict of interests between consumers and traders in the delivery of digital content and services. The studies highlight the dynamic growth of the digital economy, bringing new regulatory challenges, issues of data protection and enforcement of consumer rights. The authors examine topics such as geographical indications in the digital environment, the use of artificial intelligence in public enforcement, fintech regulation, liability for damages, and the impacts of the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The proceedings also expose increasing fragmentation of responsibility across digital actors and emphasise the need for a harmonised EU regulatory framework. Further attention is given to evolving consumer behaviour, cybersecurity risks, deepfake technologies, the functioning of online marketplaces and digital payment systems. A significant part of the analysis addresses the role of major online platforms, their obligations and influence on transparency in digital markets. The publication offers an interdisciplinary perspective combining law, economics and technology, representing an important contribution to the discourse on modern consumer protection in the digital era.
