Particularly accentuated are issues related to specific effective communication skills, methods, and techniques serviceable during interactions with a patient; application of empathy and proactive approach are highlighted.

Collection of scientific works

The year 2020 has been marked globally by an unprecedented situation related to the spread of Covid-19 since its beginning. At the start of this calendar year, as our organizational team began preparing for another edition, we still hoped that our traditional autumn conference was far away, and in this maximum optimism, we launched the organization of the jubilee 10th edition of our now-traditional conference. This conference has become a stable part of scientific and professional conference events under domestic conditions and has become a stable part of many people's work programs. However, 2020 was almost entirely filled with restrictions from its start, with these restrictions affecting even the organization of conferences. Our 10th Law – Business – Economy Conference fell victim to this current situation and had to be canceled "with gritted teeth." The situation allows us nothing but hope that in 2021 we will be able to meet at our traditional location in High Tatras. We take these meetings for granted; if this situation is good for nothing else, it at least serves as a slowdown and an awareness of our own vulnerability.

See you at the next edition of Law-Business-Economics in October 2021.

You are receiving a collection of scientific papers published in connection with the resolution of scientific projects at the Department of Commercial Law and Economic Law as the main organizer of the scientific conference, as well as other departments of the Faculty of Law at UPJŠ in Košice, and many academic workplaces both domestically and abroad. Here is the translation of the provided text into English: A guide to oncological treatment was created at a time when the importance of health became even more emphasized, becoming a kind of mega-value for the new modern "pandemic" human. The use of the term "pandemic" person arose, of course, in connection with the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic worldwide, but primarily because other dangerous long-term diseases that threaten contemporary humans are somehow being pushed into the background.

The severity of such diseases (including cancer) does not diminish just because attention has shifted to something more acute. It is very important to realize this and not fall under the illusion that if we overcome an acute danger, then automatically improve conditions for chronic diseases as well. We believe it's quite the opposite; prolonged stress and social negative factors constantly affecting us—among which undoubtedly includes pandemic situations—worsen not only psychological but also somatic states.

The guide to oncological treatment aims precisely at highlighting those psychological and social factors that negatively "support" cancer development in any form and can positively influence treatment and coping with illness. The guide offers opportunities for social engagement with groups of people undergoing similar oncological treatments, allowing them to share psychologically as well as professionally similar situations with those facing similar problems in treatment. The authors hope that this guidebook will reach those who will become more self-sufficient in overcoming such a formidable enemy as cancer.

After 7 years, we finally reworked the textbook on the subject of clinical biochemistry at UPJŠ FM in Košice. We have innovated information in accordance with recommendations of professional medical societies and added new chapters. As the scope of the subject is limited, the textbook does not cover all issues of biochemical diagnostics. It focuses on disorders of water-ion and acid-base balance disorders, and basic laboratory diagnostics of diseases of selected organs.

The textbook of clinical biochemistry has the ambition to become a practical aid for senior medical students and beginning doctors in the study of laboratory medicine. It should make it easier for them to orientate themselves in routinely used clinical-biochemical examinations and could form a springboard for a more detailed studying of laboratory methods and their use in diagnostic and monitoring algorithms.
Like any medical discipline, clinical biochemistry is evolving rapidly and gradually integrating with other areas of laboratory medicine. New diagnostic methods penetrate deeper into the essence of the biochemical mechanisms of the human body, and "omic" methods are gaining ground. It is almost sure that in a few years, laboratory examination looks quite different from today. If this publication quite hypothetically reaches its next edition, many chapters will need to updated, and new chapters written following the up-to-date status.

The publication "News in Diabetology and Lipidology" focuses on extremely relevant topics in diabetology and lipidology, reflecting the state of these issues in light of the recommendations from professional societies from 2019. In diabetology, it primarily addresses the intensification of antidiabetic treatment using modern drug classes—specifically, incretin enhancers and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors (gliflozins). Few medical fields have experienced such a development of new pharmacological options as diabetology has in the last two decades. While pharmacotherapy for type 2 diabetes (DM2) was limited to the use of biguanides, sulfonylurea derivatives, and insulin throughout the second half of the last century, recent years have introduced entirely new groups of oral antidiabetics with cardio- and nephroprotective effects. In lipidology, it pertains to the new recommendations from the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) with new treatment goals for serum lipids and lipoproteins, including the use of biological therapies.

This textbook is primarily intended for medical students in doctoral studies and doctoral candidates, as well as for physicians preparing for specialization exams in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetology, metabolic disorders and nutrition, as well as cardiology and angiology. I believe that readers will find information in this publication that will aid them in their studies and translate into their daily clinical practice.

Students studying biology as the single-subject or as a part of two-subject programs on various faculties of sciences are often encountered with the problem, how to limit the topics in the subject Human anatomy. This List of anatomical terms is aiming to help the non-medical students to get acquainted with the extensive anatomical nomenclature and to optimize the number of anatomical terms, which should be memorized, to preserve the sufficient capacity of the students for another knowledge of the field of systemic, comparative, developmental and functional anatomy. The emphasis on the arrangement of individual anatomical terms into the logical units supports the hierarchical view on the architecture of the human body.

Despite the common opinion, anatomical nomenclature represents a framework, which is during the further study gradually enveloped with the knowledge of more or less related disciplines concerning with the human body and its biological processes. Moreover, besides this ambition, which exceeds the area of the human anatomy, this List of anatomical terms continues the long tradition with respect to the valid Latin and Slovak anatomical terminology.

Peer-reviewed conference proceedings

The continuation of the tradition of an international scientific conference of doctoral students and young researchers have not been exception this year. The Department of Labour Law and Social Security Law, Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Šafarik University in Košice, as the organizer of this year's international scientific conference, has chosen a topic entitled "Protection, Prevention and Legal Liability."

Because of the unfavorable epidemiological situation and the cancellation of scientific, professional and other mass events, the conference was transferred to a virtual form. The electronic platform of the conference via online discussion was realized from 3rd to 17th April 2020. The protective function of law, preventive obligations, but also the emerging responsibilities are a vast source of ideas for scientific research, asking questions and finding answers to a range of theoretical and application-law problems in every area of public and private law. Evidence of a generously understood topic is the presented proceedings of scientific papers.

The proceedings, created within the solution of the grant task APVV-16-0002 -Mental Health in the Workplace and Employee Health Assessment, includes various aspects of legal regulation, from academic authors and authors from legal practice. Despite the diversity of the scientific focus, the papers are characterized by a unifying line corresponding to the central theme of the conference and show the interconnectedness of the different areas of law.

A uterine scar is currently a significant medical problem. Uterine scars most commonly occur after a Cesarean section, which is one of the most frequent laparotomic surgeries (Yazicioglu et al., 2006). The frequency of Cesarean sections increased between 1990 and 2014 in the USA from 21.2% to 32.2% (Hamilton et al., 2015), in Great Britain from 12% to 26.2% (NHS Maternity Statistics - England, 2013-14: Summary Report, 2015), and in the Slovak Republic from 8.7% to 31% (Národné centrum zdravotníckych informácii, 2016).

After a Cesarean section (CS), there is a risk of abnormal healing of the uterotomic wound, which can result in the development of certain pathological conditions in consecutive pregnancies (uterine rupture, ectopic pregnancy in the Cesarean scar, placental disorders) (Seow et al., 2004; Oyelese and Smulian, 2006; Fitzpatrick et al., 2012). In addition, a defect in the Cesarean scar is associated with chronic dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and postmenstrual spotting (Wang et al., 2009; Bij de Vaate et al., 2011).

Ultrasound is a valuable examination method in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of these pathological conditions.

With the development of endovascular surgery, there is a gradual advancement in ACI stenting. The minimally invasive approach has made this methodology suitable for patients with serious concomitant cardiac or pulmonary diseases. Another advantage compared to surgical treatment was better access to the ICA in patients after radiotherapy, after previous neck surgeries, as well as in patients with stenoses close to the skull base.

The comparison of CEA vs CAS is an interesting and debatable topic in many studies. However, despite the massive global development of endovascular treatment, carotid endarterectomy remains the gold standard for treating ICA stenosis in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. In this monograph, we would like to accentuate and systematize the issue of surgical stroke prevention from the perspective of a vascular surgeon.

The cancer is the second most common reason of the death in human population. lt is responsible for approximately 10 million of death every year. The second (supplemented and expanded) edition of the bilingual textbook Rodový aspekt v slovenskej literatúre na prelome 19. a 20. storočia (Interpretačné etudy) / Gender Perspectives in the Slovak Literature of the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries (Interpretation Studies) offers to a wider range of recipients – students of Teaching of Academic Subjects and teachers in practice – a didactic transformation of current research issues (supported by e-literacy using online approaches and QR codes), which was developed in cooperation with the School of Applied Arts in Košice (since 2019/20 the so-called School of Art Industry) ) in the academic year 2018/2019.

Professional cooperation within the KEGA project No. 008UPJŠ-4/2017 – Science Without Barriers (Interdisciplinary Inspirations of Contemporary Literary Scholarship and Linguistics in Educational Practice at University) with teacher of Slovak Language and Literature, PaedDr. Jana Valicová, and Mgr. Renáta Novotná Markovičová of ŠUP took place in project teaching. It yielded results in two interdisciplinary outcomes:

1. Creation of the Literary Lounge in the Student Café Minerva in the premises of the UPJŠ Faculty of Arts;

2. Illustrations of the 2nd edition of the textbook Gender Aspect in the Slovak Literature at the Turn of the 19th and the 20th Centuries (2019).

In Košice, there are several universities whose students and graduates have the potential to develop themselves and their social environment. Although the current prevalence of overweight and obesity in this part of the Slovak population is not high, early prevention can influence its increased occurrence in higher age categories.

The university provides sufficient space and time for this prevention. It offers the opportunity to explore factors that play a crucial role in weight gain among university students and to propose forms of interventions for creating a healthy lifestyle. One such form was a program focusing on body weight modification, which we introduced into the physical education curriculum for students of various faculties at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, even after the grant project ended.

Knih na obecné téma péče o pacienty trpící demencí je na našem trhu dostatek, ale obvykle se vztahují k diagnostice a terapii a jsou určeny pro zdravotnický personál. Další skupina publikací zasahuje do oblasti sociální péče a její cílovou skupinou jsou sociální pracovníci, rodinní příslušníci nebo přímo samotné osoby trpící demencí. Nicméně řada z těchto knih jsou překlady z cizojazyčného originálu, tedy reflektující systém péče uplatňovaný v zahraničí, nikoli v České republice. Tato kniha však vychází přímo z prostředí domácích LDN, čímž je cenná.

Tato kniha je užitečným průvodcem perioperační medicínou především pro praktické, ale i další lékaře. Napsali ji zkušení autoři a odborníci z oboru anesteziologie. Kniha je prakticky a přehledně uspořádána.
Seznamuje čtenáře se základy anestezie a výběrem vhodného typu, premedikací, s nároky na současné nutné předoperační přípravy. Kniha ukazuje organizaci provozu centrálních operačních sálů velkých nemocnic, současnou operativu s důrazem na nové operační techniky u nejčastějších výkonů a osvětluje anesteziologické praktiky v širších souvislostech vztažených ke zdravotnímu stavu pacienta před operací.
Velmi zajímavé je rozdělení problematiky perioperační medicíny podle jednotlivých oborů a onemocnění (například hrudní a břišní chirurgie, neurochirurgie, kardiochirurgie, anestezie u urologických výkonů, očních operací či u popálených pacientů). Samostatné kapitoly se věnují hemoterapii a rizikovým skupinám nemocných včetně dětí.
Kniha je v novém vydání plně aktualizována a doplněna o nové kapitoly, které se věnují například chronickým infekčním onemocněním (HIV, infekční žloutenka) či problematice psychiatrických komorbidit.
Kniha je zajímavá především pro praktické lékaře, ale i pro další nechirurgické obory a pro mediky.

Závažná onemocnění aorty, jako jsou výdutě nebo disekce aorty, pokud nejsou včas a adekvátně léčena, mívají často pro své nositele zničující následky. Výskyt těchto onemocnění nelze považovat za vzácný, výdutě aorty se vyskytují u 4–9 % pacientů starších 50 let, u disekce se udává roční incidence 10/100 000 obyvatel. Setká se s nimi tedy během svého profesního života většina lékařů. Přesto není dosud pro českého čtenáře dostupná kniha, která by komplexně shrnula současné poznatky o dané problematice.

Podrobněji se v samostatných kapitolách zabývá jednotlivými patologiemi, které jsou v případě výdutě rozděleny podle lokalizace, tj. na ascendentní, oblouk aorty a aortu torakoabdominální, v případě disekce na část zabývající se klasifikacemi a pak disekcí typu A a B.

Publikace je určena pro odborníky z oboru kardiologie, kardiovaskulární chirurgie a invazivní radiologie. Je zajímavá pro praktické lékaře, kteří se setkávají s pacienty se závažným onemocněním aorty v první linii, i pro lékaře intenzivní péče a záchranáře, kteří jsou často nuceni rozpoznat onemocnění v jeho akutní fázi a zahájit první, často život zachraňující léčebné kroky.
