This monograph aims at following the study of P. S. Loeb in which he presented a significant turning point in the issue of the interpretation of Nietzsche's idea of the eternal return of the same. What was that reversal? Despite prominent scholars of Nietzsche's philosophy of the 20th century who rejected the idea of eternal return because of its logical incoherence, Loeb eruditely proved the temporal identity of eternal return of the same, thus verifying the logical connection of the idea concerned.

V chirurgických oborech jsou antibiotika používána velmi často, ať jako profylaxe infekcí v místě chirurgického výkonu či terapeuticky pro zvládnutí infekcí a infekčních komplikací.
Správná volba antibiotika je více než „dát antibiotikum na bakterii“ dle mikrobiologického nálezu nebo tzv. pro jistotu. V současné době je k dispozici nepřeberné množství antiinfekčních přípravků, ale ne všechny jsou vhodné a indikované pro použití v chirurgických oborech, ať už z pohledu farmakokinetiky nebo z důvodů vysoké rezistence bakterií, a tím možným rizikem selhání léčby.
Publikace poskytuje čtenáři základní informace o jednotlivých skupinách antibiotik, jejich zástupcích včetně nejčastějších chyb při indikacích spolu s přehledem rezistence. Dvě kapitoly jsou věnovány problematice laboratorní diagnostiky, jednak samotné mikrobiologické, tj. určení původce infekce, jednak diagnostice zánětu a možnosti odlišení systémové zánětlivé odpovědi na infekční a neinfekční podnět.
Hlavní pozornost je věnována praktickému použití konkrétních antibiotik u nejčastějších infekcí řešených na chirurgických pracovištích, jako jsou infekce v místě chirurgického výkonu, infekce kůže a měkkých tkání, infekce kostí a kloubů či nitrobřišní infekce. Profylaxe infekcí v místě chirurgického výkonu je samostatnou kapitolou se zaměřením na správné principy profylaxe a aktuální doporučení u jednotlivých chirurgických výkonů, kde je indikována.
Dále jsou zařazeny nejčastější infekce podle systémů, kde je vždy popsána etiologie jednotlivých nosologických jednotek, doporučeno laboratorní vyšetření a vhodná terapie.
Kniha je koncipována jako příručka pro každodenní praxi, tzn. přehledný text a doprovodné tabulky jsou součástí každé kapitoly. Určena je lékařům ze všech chirurgických oborů.

Čitatelia ocenia zhrnutie najdôležitejších faktov na konci jednotlivých kapitol. Uvedená monografia je určená nielen kardiológom, ale aj internistom, všeobecným lekárom ako aj študentom medicíny. Problematika je mimoriadne atraktívna a zároveň poskytuje čitateľovi aj širokú škálu doteraz realizovaných významných klinických štúdií, ktoré viedli k formulovaniu jednotlivých odporúčaní.

Prehľadné medicínske postupy v 3.vydaní, ktoré odrážajú všetky novinky z posledných rokov, pomôžu mnohým lekárom, ale najmä pri uplatnení pacientom. Trojzväzková moderne poňatá učebnica patológie pre študentov medicínskych odborov. Učebnica je rozdelená do troch zväzkov (predajná je iba ako celok). Súčasťou každej knihy je heslo pre prístup do online galérie na stránke www.ucebnice-patologie.cz

Na vzniku učebnice sa podieľalo viac ako 40 popredných odborníkov, je rozdelená do troch dielov, spolu majú cez 1000 strán. Učebnica nie je koncipovaná ako zoznam minimálnych znalostí pre hranične úspešné zloženie skúšky z patológie na konci 3. ročníka (pokiaľ by už učebný text takýmito „minimálnymi“ výpiskami bol, nezostane študentovi než memorovať - a to si neprajeme). Ľudské ochorenia, ktoré v učebnici študentovi predstavujeme, sme sa snažili zrozumiteľne vysvetliť a zasadiť ich do širšieho kontextu medicíny a biológie. Nová je učebnica aj svojou vizuálnou úpravou zahrňujúcou rad grafických prvkov pre uľahčenie orientácie v texte a vnímanie hierarchie informácií. V učebnici sú viac ako štyri stovky nákresov a schém.

EFFUSE - A Guide for Students is an interactive educational resource for primary and secondary school students to help them better understand how their daily activities affect the environment. The handbook was developed within the EFFUSE project (‘Environment for the future by science education’) and motivates young people to take a greater interest in the nature around them. It focuses on practical field activities during which they will explore the ecosystem of the Laborec and Uh rivers, observe and document organisms and work with real samples from nature. At the same time, they will learn about the work of scientists - botanists, zoologists and microbiologists - and learn basic biomonitoring methods. The manual will also guide them through the process of creating a virtual laboratory to display the results of their investigations of an aquatic ecosystem. It will help them understand the importance of sustainable development and encourage them to behave responsibly towards nature. It is their opportunity to learn about their surroundings in a new way, to learn to think scientifically and to become active creators of positive change for their community and future generations.

The EFFUSE Teacher's Guide is a practical educational material for primary and secondary school teachers who want to develop environmental awareness with their pupils through field-based learning. It is based on the concept of the EFFUSE project (‘Environment for the future by science education’), which aims to link science, research and education with environmental protection. The manual provides teachers with methodological support for planning and implementing outdoor activities aimed at observing and documenting organisms around the Laborec River and the Uh River. It contains instructions for working with real samples, basic biomonitoring procedures and offers the opportunity to participate in the creation of a virtual laboratory that mirrors the state of the local aquatic ecosystem. Through these activities, pupils will learn to understand the links between human activity and the state of the environment, while learning the basics of how scientists work in the fields of biology and ecology. The guide also motivates teachers to become agents of positive change, inspire the younger generation to be active and engage the community in conservation. It is a challenge and an opportunity to create a space for meaningful learning in line with current trends in environmental and digital education.

The publication was developed as part of the EFFUSE project and focuses on the scientific investigation of living organisms in the river ecosystem, with an emphasis on their ecological role and importance as bioindicators. The river ecosystem is a dynamic environment where a wide range of organisms can be studied, from algae and phytoplankton to aquatic invertebrates, fish, amphibians and reptiles. This publication presents a detailed study of their adaptations, life cycles, reproductive strategies and their importance for ecological balance. Particular attention is paid to fish and amphibians, whose environmental demands and sensitivity to pollution make them important indicators of water quality and environmental status. The publication also provides guidance on how to integrate their study into university education in the form of practical research. It also includes a chapter on science education in the context of sustainable development, which is often absent from university curricula in Slovakia and Ukraine. This material promotes the link between theory and practice and develops students' scientific thinking in order to prepare them to meet the environmental challenges of the future.

The publication includes a classification of anemias based on pathophysiological mechanisms, including impaired red blood cell production, increased destruction and blood loss. It provides detailed description of iron, vitamin B12, and folic acid deficiencies, as well as aplastic and hemolytic anemias, including some of the rare hereditary forms. The text features chapters on laboratory diagnostics, investigative methods, and interpretation of results. The publication is focused on clinical presentation, differential diagnostic approach, and the basic principles of treatment for each type of anemia. Neurológia je veľmi zaujímavý a dynamicky sa rozvíjajúci klinický odbor, ktorý sa zaoberá ochoreniami centrálneho, periférneho a vegetatívneho nervového systému, nervovosvalového prenosu a svalov. Učebnica informuje čitateľa vo všeobecnej časti o anatómii a fyziológii nervového systému, o zásadách neurologického vyšetrenia, o neurologických príznakoch a syndrómoch a o pomocných vyšetrovacích metódach. Ďalej informuje o základoch neuropsychológie, rehabilitácie a klinickej logopédie. Náplňou špeciálnej časti je opis jednotlivých neurologických ochorení, ich diagnostika a liečba. Spracovanie špeciálnej neurológie je podrobnejšie než vyžadujú potreby zdravotníckeho vzdelávania. Tematika, ktorá je nad rámec bakalárskeho a magisterského štúdia, je vyznačená menším písmom. Pre záujemcov o odbor môže byť zdrojom dôležitých informácií, ktoré pomôžu lepšie pochopiť závažnosť problematiky neurologických ochorení. Niektoré kapitoly zahrnujú aj ošetrovateľské, záchranárske a rehabilitačné minimum, v ktorom sú uvedené najpodstatnejšie poznatky a inštrukcie pre zdravotníkov.

Vysokoškolská učebnica Nehojace sa rany je komplexným spracovaním manažmentu rán. Problematika je logicky a systematicky rozčlenená do desiatich kapitol. Prvá až štvrtá kapitola sú obsahovo orientované na východiská k problematike ošetrovania rán – príčiny a súvisiacie faktory ich vzniku, diagnostika, hojenie a posudzovanie rany s využitím vybraných klasifikačných nástrojov. Piata kapitola podáva prehľad o príčinách, typoch a charakteristike bolesti pri nehojacich sa ranách. Osobitne sú uvedené špecifiká bolesti pri vybraných nehojacich sa ranách a nástroje pre jej posudzovanie s využitím objektívnych meracích nástrojov, škál a intervencií na jej zmiernenie a elimináciu. Šiesta až deviata kapitola sú venované špecifikám ošetrovania ulcus cruris, dekubitov, syndrómu diabetickej nohy a malígnej rany. Desiata kapitola je spracovaná aplikačne s uvedením kazuistiky pacienta s infikovanou nehojacou sa ranou s využitím liečebnej metódy riadeného podtlaku. Pre názornosť je učebnica doplnená obrazovou prílohou.

Predkladaná vysokoškolská učebnica sa bude využívať v pregraduálnom a postgraduálnom profesionálnom vzdelávaní sestier, pôrodných asistentiek a lekárov, v klinickej praxi nemocníc, agentúrach domácej ošetrovateľskej starostlivosti, domovoch sociálnych služieb, ošetrovateľských domoch, hospicoch a i.

The script deals with the issue of harmful alcohol use and its consequences on individuals’ cognitive abilities. The first part is devoted to the diagnosis of dependence syndrome and the assessment of risky drinking according to internationally recognized classifications (ICD, DSM). The following chapters explain the concept of cognition and its main components. Attention is also given to changes in cognitive functions during long-term alcohol abuse. The reader is introduced to the anatomical changes in the brain caused by alcohol. Damage to white matter and disorders of neurotransmission are described. Special focus is placed on diagnoses associated with alcohol use, such as Korsakoff syndrome, Wernicke’s encephalopathy, demyelinating disorders, and hepatic encephalopathy. Attention is also paid to the possibilities of diagnosing cognitive dysfunction. General screening tests such as MMSE or MoCA are presented. More specific tools, such as PHES or BEARNI, are described in greater detail. The script also points out the possibilities of pharmacological treatment. Non-pharmacological approaches, including cognitive remediation therapy and computer-based training, are also discussed. The conclusion is devoted to modern neuromodulation methods, in particular transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct current stimulation. This university textbook is primarily intended for students of medicine, psychology, and related health sciences.

Učebnice přináší poznatky z moderní lékařské biologie s důrazem na genetiku a molekulární biologii a jejich aplikace v medicíně. Svým rozsahem i podáním je kompromisem mezi obsažnými odbornými texty (vysokoškolskými skripty apod.) a středoškolskými učebnicemi či populárně naučnými díly přinášejícími pouze základní, často i značně zjednodušené údaje. Napsána je tak lehce a srozumitelně, že si ji může číst kdokoliv se zájmem o tematiku.

Je určena studentům zdravotnických bakalářských oborů na lékařských i jiných fakultách. Jako úvod do učiva biologie a genetiky knihu využijí i studenti medicíny. Pooperační nevolnost a zvracení (PONV) patří v časné pooperační péči mezi nejčastější komplikace, které vedle subjektivního diskomfortu mají řadu fyziologických a metabolických následků a rovněž mohou významně prodloužit rekonvalescenci a hospitalizaci pacienta. I přes dostupnost vysoce účinných antiemetik je výskyt PONV neakceptovatelně vysoký a u rizikových pacientů po operačních výkonech dosahuje až 80 %.
Tato kniha podává komplexní přehled o problematice PONV, od patofyziologie až po současné možnosti prevence a léčby, přičemž uvedené postupy reflektují nejnovější vědecké poznatky a doporučení. Důraz je kladen především na identifikaci rizikových pacientů a možnosti farmakologické profylaxe. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována problematice PONV u dětí, u kterých je situace komplikována identifikací nevolnosti již v nejnižší věkové kategorii.
