The book of abstracts from the conference with international participation contains 33 contributions authored by 71 researchers affiliated with botanical institutions from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary. The publication offers an overview of current knowledge and research experience in the field of plant biodiversity in the context of climate change. In addition to botany and nature conservation, the abstracts also address topics such as plant physiology, the production of secondary metabolites, environmental studies, management of protected areas, botanical art, and other current research issues. The central paper is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the UPJŠ Botanical Garden, highlighting its history and present-day activities, and was prepared by the garden’s director. The volume is complemented by contributions from the garden’s staff, focusing on the current state of research and educational activities within the institution.

The presented annotated source edition represents the first systematic attempt to process selected documents related to the history of personal automobilism in Slovakia during the interwar period. It addresses a notable research and publication gap in Slovak historiography, where the topic of automobilism has long remained marginal. Although research in this field has progressed over the last two decades, Slovak scholarship still lags behind Czech historiography. The main ambition of the edition is to present a broad selection of sources to highlight key thematic lines in the development of personal automobilism. The sources are divided into two main thematic groups: economic-legislative issues and cultural-social dimensions. Special attention is given to car accessibility, infrastructure, legal frameworks, visual advertising, and the activities of motoring associations. The typologically diverse corpus includes archival records, printed materials, visual sources, and photographs. The edition builds on a 2017 authorial monograph, expanding it with new insights and sources. It draws from collections housed in the National Archives in Prague, the Slovak National Archive, and various regional archives. The work also benefits from the application of modern methodological approaches, such as Business History and cultural history. The project was carried out under the scientific grant VVGS-2022-2431 at the Faculty of Arts, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Its results are closely linked to the teaching activities of the research team. The edition is the result of several stages – from heuristics, selection, and processing to peer review and publication. The publication contributes to a vivid understanding of the historical aspects of automobilism and expands knowledge of modernization processes in Slovakia. It also offers potential for use in educational practice and further academic research.

Cévními vstupy rozumíme zavedení katétrů nebo kanyl do žilního nebo tepenného řečiště, které umožňuje řadu důležitých diagnostických vyšetření a je nezbytné pro aplikaci léků a výživy u závažných onemocnění. Na druhou stranu zavedení cévního vstupu může být komplikováno v případě, kdy není vstup správně indikován, zaveden a využíván.
V oblasti cévních vstupů dochází k významným změnám. Setkáváme se s novými typy cévních vstupů, využívají se nové metodiky, které rizika komplikací významně snižují, v posledních dvou desetiletích bylo postupně získáno mnoho nových informací na podkladě řady studií.
Žilní vstupy se tradičně dělí jednak na periferní a centrální a jednak na krátkodobé, střednědobé a dlouhodobé. Jak v oblasti periferních, tak v oblasti centrálních vstupů se  posledním desetiletí objevila řada nových poznatků, které zásadně mění naše možnosti v jejich optimálním využívání. Dělení na krátkodobé, střednědobé a dlouhodobé žilní vstupy je v současnosti do určité míry překonané. Vedle žilních vstupů je v intenzivní péči často nezbytný i vstup do tepenného řečiště. I v této oblasti je třeba přijmout nové algoritmy, které budou v knize uvedeny.
V knize je vedle definování jednotlivých cévních vstupů věnována pozornost jejich současné indikaci. Součástí publikace je i podrobné seznámení se současným způsobem zavedení jednotlivých žilních vstupů včetně mezinárodně platných doporučení. Nechybí poslední poznatky v oblasti ošetřování a využívání žilní vstupů a problematika cévních vstupů u dětí.
Potřeba zavádění cévních vstupů se zvětšuje s tím, jak stárne naše populace. Počet lékařů je omezen a narůstá potřeba další specializace ve všech medicínských oborech. I v naší zemi to vede k nutnosti předání určitých kompetencí v oblasti cévního vstupu nelékařským pracovníkům. 
Kniha je z uvedených důvodů určena jak lékařům, tak nelékařským pracovníkům, kteří se chtějí oblasti cévního vstupu věnovat a trvale do své práce zařazovat nové informace.

V klinické praxi je nutné umět se uvážlivě a zároveň přiměřeně rychle rozhodovat. Tato dovednost nabývá svého významu zejména při diagnostice pediatrického pacienta, kde čas hraje zásadní roli nejen v akutních situacích, ale vzhledem k vyvíjejícímu se organismu i při neakutních problémech, kdy opoždění diagnózy může neodvratně poškodit pacienta v pozdějším věku. Rozhodovací algoritmy se však nedají komplexně naučit pregraduálně, a i po zahájení lékařské praxe vyžadují určitý čas. Díky této publikaci lze nahlédnout do unikátního přehledu nejčastějších diagnostických problémů z různých pediatrických oblastí, se kterými se pediatr ve své ambulantní nebo nemocniční praxi setkává.
Monografie vznikla ve spolupráci mezi vybranými pracovišti 3. lékařské fakulty Univerzity Karlovy, která pečují o děti a mladistvé. Obsah je koncipován stručně a schematicky tak, aby byl nápomocen zejména začínajícím pediatrům a pomohl jim správně a rychle určit diagnózu pacienta. Zájemci z řad odborné veřejnosti tak dostávají do rukou nástroj poznání založený na stovkách odborných publikací doplněný o profesní zkušenosti autorů.

V chirurgických oborech jsou antibiotika používána velmi často, ať jako profylaxe infekcí v místě chirurgického výkonu či terapeuticky pro zvládnutí infekcí a infekčních komplikací.
Správná volba antibiotika je více než „dát antibiotikum na bakterii“ dle mikrobiologického nálezu nebo tzv. pro jistotu. V současné době je k dispozici nepřeberné množství antiinfekčních přípravků, ale ne všechny jsou vhodné a indikované pro použití v chirurgických oborech, ať už z pohledu farmakokinetiky nebo z důvodů vysoké rezistence bakterií, a tím možným rizikem selhání léčby.
Publikace poskytuje čtenáři základní informace o jednotlivých skupinách antibiotik, jejich zástupcích včetně nejčastějších chyb při indikacích spolu s přehledem rezistence. Dvě kapitoly jsou věnovány problematice laboratorní diagnostiky, jednak samotné mikrobiologické, tj. určení původce infekce, jednak diagnostice zánětu a možnosti odlišení systémové zánětlivé odpovědi na infekční a neinfekční podnět.
Hlavní pozornost je věnována praktickému použití konkrétních antibiotik u nejčastějších infekcí řešených na chirurgických pracovištích, jako jsou infekce v místě chirurgického výkonu, infekce kůže a měkkých tkání, infekce kostí a kloubů či nitrobřišní infekce. Profylaxe infekcí v místě chirurgického výkonu je samostatnou kapitolou se zaměřením na správné principy profylaxe a aktuální doporučení u jednotlivých chirurgických výkonů, kde je indikována.
Dále jsou zařazeny nejčastější infekce podle systémů, kde je vždy popsána etiologie jednotlivých nosologických jednotek, doporučeno laboratorní vyšetření a vhodná terapie.
Kniha je koncipována jako příručka pro každodenní praxi, tzn. přehledný text a doprovodné tabulky jsou součástí každé kapitoly. Určena je lékařům ze všech chirurgických oborů.
