The main goal of the monograph "Moving Towards Cognitive Adaptation Studies: Adaptation as Play" was to orient current research in adaptation studies towards the empirically responsible cognitive branch of non-radical constructivism. This intention results from the rapid progressive differentiation of adaptation studies research, which has mainly manifested itself in this area in the last two decades. With the model of adaptation as play in a cognitive-scientific perspective, author provides the possibility of predicting the nature (also in a broader sense) of the experience of adaptation. Since the form of this experience significantly shapes the products of the adaptation process into their final form, the model of adaptation as play can be applied even in the interpretation of individual adaptations. In the monograph, the author synthesized the model of adaptation as play based on the knowledge of various disciplines. In the field of cognitive sciences, he saw help from the starting points of philosophy, linguistics, informatics, psychology, anthropology, biology and neuroscience – especially affective neuroscience, which also deals with the emotional dimension of the play. In the intersection with the essential interdisciplinary components of adaptation research, he also used the knowledge of classical and cognitive variations of literary science, film science (also theatrology) and media studies to a large extent. Consistent with other similar results of cognitive sciences, it turns out that even seemingly serious adaptations, like in many aspects of our culture, have a ludic base.

Pracovné listy vychádzajúce z priamych konkrétnych potrieb pri vyučovaní košických medikov rešpektujú reálnu situáciu pri vyučovaní slovenčiny ako cudzieho jazyka na UPJŠ. V neposlednom rade reflektujú pomerne vysoký počet slovanských študentov najmä zo susedných krajín, ktorí, hoci so slovenským jazykom iba začínajú, patria z komunikačného hľadiska na vyššiu úroveň ako študenti z neslovanských krajín. Im je teda určená špeciálna časť PL s cvičeniami, ktorá sa špeciálnymi cvičeniami, ale najmä špeciálnymi slovníkmi pokúša eliminovať slovensko-poľské či slovensko-ukrajinské interferenčné javy. Keďže časť študentov – Neslovanov prichádza aj z českého jazykového prostredia, pridávame do slovníkovej časti aj slovníček najčastejších odlišných výrazov v slovenčine, češtine a z vyššie uvedených dôvodov pridávame i poľštinu s ukrajinčinou. V časti určenej všetkým, slovanským či neslovanským, študentom prevládajú komunikačne zamerané cvičenia na nácvik gramatických javov prevažne pre úroveň komunikačných schopností A1 a A2 (podľa spoločného európskeho referenčného rámca) a v neposlednom rade cvičenia tematicky zamerané na medicínu a lekárstvo. Z tematickej oblasti sú texty, samozrejme, doplnené aj o reálie mesta Košice. Ako funkčný doplnok v pracovnom materiáli publikujeme aj ukážky testov.

If we were to conduct a study on the popularity of subjects among social work students, the subjects of Research Methodology and Statistics would likely rank low on the list. It is precisely the lack of popularity of research methodology among students that led to the preparation of this textbook. The stylistic approach of this text was chosen with the intention of introducing the fundamentals of methodology to students encountering it for the first time, without alienating methodologists. The text primarily serves as a teaching aid for the course "Exercise in Research Methodology" and the seminars "Bachelor Thesis Seminar" and "Master's Thesis Seminar." Throughout the entire textbook, examples and case studies are interwoven and visually highlighted. The text endeavors to address the fundamental question that is key to motivating and understanding the essence of research methodology: why is research necessary for social workers? The aim of the textbook is to facilitate students' preparation for the Research Methodology course and to enhance their understanding of the basics of research methodology.

Príspevky v zborníku pojednávajú o tematike rizík moderných technológií v kontexte sociálnej práce, sociálnej opory aj rizikových faktorov rodiny v kontexte procesu radikalizácie adolescentov, problematike kyberšikanovania na základných školách, študentskej ukrajinskej migrácie na Slovensku, faktorov ovplyvňujúcich pracovnú spokojnosť u pracovníkov v sociálnej oblasti, ale aj sociálnej opory rodiny ako klienta sociálnej práce v aktuálnej pandemickej situácii.

Ústredným motívom podujatia bolo zameranie na priesečníky spoločnej histórie.  Desať štúdií mapuje rozličné priesečníky histórie krajín V4, ale aj širšieho stredoeurópskeho priestoru, v časovom horizonte od 13. po 20. storočie. Tematicky sa jednotlivé štúdie zaoberajú širokým spektrom oblastí od stredovekej cestnej siete, vojenskej a urbánnej histórie, cez hospodárstvo, školstvo, problémy národnej identity, vzťahu štátu a cirkvi po demografické otázky.

The monograph is dealing with the issue of homosexuality and homophobia in the context of social work and it is divided into five chapters, which are devoted to individual fields of the tackled issue. The first chapter is describing the phenomenon of homosexuality in the society; the focus is put on human sexuality and sexual orientation. The following chapter is clarifying the formation of homosexual identity in connection to coming out and it describes its frequently utilized models. The third chapter is devoted to the concepts of heteronormativity and heterosexism in the social context. Furthermore, the chapter is dealing with the formation of attitudes towards this issue from the point of view of religion and masculinity. Another chapter is describing homophobia as the result of heteronormativity, stereotypes and prejudice. In the last chapter, the authors are introducing selected social work theories dealing with the homosexual minority, the approaches to LGBT+ community and suggestions towards elimination of homophobia within the social work environment.

On June 8 and 9, 2023, the 22nd edition of the Psychology of Work and Organization conference took place at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik in Košice. The conference program was divided into six blocks and one poster section and supplemented by three invited lectures. This collection contains selected contributions from this conference, with contributions in English first, then in Slovak. The variety of contributions reflects the variety of topics in the field of work and organizational psychology, with the most represented topics being the quality of life and work load, aspects of the work of a school psychologist, factors affecting the achievement of work goals in emerging adulthood, and the presentation of new measures with possible application in the work environment.

The scientific monograph The Value of Human Life in the Connotations of Postmodernism presents a current issue of reflections on the value of human life. It sees in the broader connotations of postmodern society, where the approaches of applied ethics (bioethics), philosophy and Christian theology intersect. This issue is embedded in the historical, philosophical, sociological and cultural-social Postmodernism.

The monograph analyses the postmodern value system, the dominant postmodern anthropological concept, secular bioethics and civil law in relation to human life and its value. The key is the confrontation of the postmodern anti-life mentality and life in the most discussed bioethical issues: contraception, artificial insemination techniques, genetic manipulation, abortion, sterilization, (bio) technology, euthanasia. An alternative approach is offered by the theological vision of human and life presented in the Judeo-Christian context. In the light of modern theological disciplines, the personnel concept is enriched by theological anthropology culminating in an eschatological vision.

In this sense, the issue of the value of human life culminates, which is also inspired by one of the most important encyclicals of Pope John Paul II. Evangelium vitae (25th anniversary of its writing). It is she who calls for the acceptance and respect of every human life and for the practical development of a new culture of life.

The university textbook Lingua Latina – cursus communis is designed for students of all study programs at the Faculty of Arts, where Latin is included as a subject related to the main field of study or specialization (history, philosophy, philological specializations, etc.).

The textbook contains Latin grammar, exercise sentences intended for practicing the grammatical phenomena covered in seminars under the guidance of an instructor, and a Latin-Slovak dictionary. To practice Latin grammar at home, parallel workbooks are available, which are tailored to meet the needs of students from specific study fields and specializations (e.g., Lingua Latina – workbook for historians, Lingua Latina – workbook for philosophers, Lingua Latina – workbook for philologists).

The textbook Lingua Latina – cursus communis is accessible electronically in PDF format. As part of the educational program, online tests available on the KKF FF UPJŠ website serve to reinforce the learned material. This textbook is a product of the grant project KEGA 010UPJŠ-4/2017.

Východiská predkladanej práce vznikali súbežne s rodiacim sa výskumom detskej reči na Slovensku. Zanietený tím ľudí z niekoľkých vedných odborov: psychológie (Marína Mikulajová), logopédie (Svetlana Kapalková) a lingvistiky (Daniela Slančová, Jana Kesselová, Zuzana Ondráčková, Stanislava Zajacová, Iveta Bónová) sa pravidelne stretával, diskutoval a hľadal spôsob, ako zmobilizovať sily pri napĺňaní vytýčených cieľov – realizovať výskum detskej reči intaktných (zdravo sa vyvíjajúcich) jedincov a pritom vychádzať z reálneho longitudinálneho sledovania detí. Som veľmi rada a zároveň vďačná, že som mohla byť súčasťou tímu na začiatku systematického výskumu v oblasti osvojovania detskej reči na Slovensku. Ako členka tohto tímu a spoluriešiteľka viacerých projektov v danej oblasti som mala možnosť participovať na výskume detskej reči, ktorá už dnes nie je „na chvoste“ vedeckého záujmu. Ide o seriózny, exaktný kvantitatívnymi a kvalitatívnymi údajmi podložený výskum, realizovaný systematicky, „na vynikajíci vědecké úrovni“ (Průcha, 2011, s. 14). Samotnému bádaniu prirodzene predchádzal zber dát. Technológie konca 20. storočia umožnili uplatniť už prekonanú metódu denníkových zápiskov a nahradiť ju v súčasnosti najčastejšie aplikovaným spôsobom získavania materiálu – audiovizuálnymi nahrávkami. Syntéza analyzovaných v časovej následnosti získavaných dát, ich explanácia, generalizácia a včlenenie do širšieho interdisciplinárneho bádateľského kontextu je o to zaujímavejšia a prínosnejšia, že ústi do logopedickej praxe. Práve vďaka výsledkom najnovších výskumov sa v logopédii rozširujú intervenčné možnosti, rozvíjajú sa a rozpracovávajú metódy (aj ranej) diagnostiky a stimulácie.
