Communication is a significant and integral part of human existence. It also plays an important role in individual organizations, whether of a production or non-production nature. Without communication, it would not be possible to manage these organizations and achieve the set goals.

The aim of the scripts was to address the issue of communication and apply it to public administration organizations. The scripts begin by elaborating on the topic of information, which is an essential component of every communication process. The content of subsequent chapters focuses on the objectives and tasks of communication within an organization, various types of communication, barriers that may arise in communication, strategies for improving communication effectiveness in an organization, and specific communication strategies regularly encountered in different organizations.

Emphasis is also placed on the communication skills of managers, without which they would not be able to effectively manage the organization and lead their subordinates toward achieving organizational goals.

The second revised and extended edition of University textbook Organizational Behavior is the work of an international team of authors. University teachers of two Slovak universities and two Czech universities are the authors of this book. Problem areas of organizational behavior and its processing comprehensively was the intention of the authors. University textbook is complemented by 10 chapters, other chapters are significantly revised. University textbook is thematically divided into five parts. The first part treats the issue of organizational behavior as a discipline. Organizational behavior is theoretically defined, there is indicated the subject matter of the discipline, relationship with other sciences, historical and scientific foundations of organizational behavior. There are also presented knowledge about formal organizations and bureaucracy. Final of the first part is dedicated to social science research and social audit in organizations. The second part is called Individual aspects of organizational behavior and there are included themes as personality, work and its role in human life, job satisfaction, work motivation and loyalty of employees. This part is complemented by the issue of personality, competency and power of manager and career issues. Interpersonal interaction and group processes in an organization is the name of the third part of the book. It includes the chapters as working group, team and team roles, leadership and its impact on human personality, communication, performance management, friendships and loneliness in the organization. This section was complemented by the issue of interculturar communication in the international organizational context, conflicts in the workplace and workplace misbehavior. Fourth, complemented part is called Resources and means of ensuring employees and there are included themes such as external and internal mobility of workers, personal marketing, and unemployed as a potential source of workforce and talent management. The fifth part is called The organization as a culture and organizational dynamics. Authors included topics such as organizational culture, social responsibility of organizations and added the themes ethics on workplace, change management and radical change – reengineering. University textbook presents current theoretical knowledge and also the results of relevant research. Contents of chapters are complemented by practical examples of organizations. There are included questions for reflection and tasks at the end of each chapter. Tasks that help students and professional public apply the theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems. This University textbook comes with support KEGA no. 013-UPJŠ 4/2013 titled Organizational Behavior - University textbook for the compulsory subject of the new study program.

A peer-reviewed collection of contributions from the 6th year of the international scientific conference for doctoral students, which took place on March 19, 2021 (online via MS Teams).

Doctoral studies, as the highest level of higher education, prepare students interested in further education to acquire new knowledge and creatively apply it in their future scientific work. Students of doctoral studies actively participate in obtaining new, original scientific results and thus contribute to the development of scientific knowledge in their field.

Doctoral studies play a crucial role in educating top experts. From this perspective, we consider it essential to emphasize creativity and originality in research work, the development of critical thinking, the ability to discuss specific professional problems in broader contexts, and the ability to present achieved results. The Faculty of Public Administration at P.J. Šafárik University in Košice also created space for such professional discussions and presentations of achieved results by organizing the 6th annual scientific conference "Theory and Practice of Public Administration," which took place on March 19, 2021. Public administration is an integral part of every democratic state, influencing each of our lives; therefore, discussing its current issues and familiarizing ourselves with new solutions is necessary. The scientific conference was attended by 33 participants from the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, and Slovakia. The contributions presented focused on current public administration issues from legal, economic, social, and political perspectives.

This publication contains contributions that were presented as lectures and posters by authors addressing the issue of human resources from the perspective of various scientific disciplines, especially from the viewpoints of management, psychology, sociology, public administration, and political science. The content and thematic diversity of the contributions examine, for example, modern trends in human resource management, perceptions of organizational justice, and the need for ethical codes.

The conference demonstrated that an interdisciplinary approach can highlight the shortcomings of identifying and understanding problems solely from the perspective of a single discipline. We are pleased to present this proceedings to conference participants and other interested readers. We believe that its content will be beneficial and useful for readers, serving as an inspiration for the further work of professionals not only in a single field, and thus the efforts of the authors and editors will not have been in vain.

Súčasne potreba vytvoriť učebnicu pre vysoké školy uvedeného typu bola motivovaná požiadavkami a značným záujmom pomerne veľkého počtu samotných študentov a absolventov o danú problematiku v súvislosti s nedostatkom podobnej  učebnice zameranej na potreby Fakulty verejnej správy, ktorá by zodpovedala stanovenému obsahu a rozsahu spracovania so zameraním sa na najpodstatnejšie problémové okruhy diplomacie v prepojení na oblasť verejnej správy.

Okrem zabezpečenia potrebnej učebnice pre vysoké školy, hlavný cieľ spočíva v snahe podať študentom a mladým vedeckým pracovníkom základnú orientáciu v danej problematike, a to tak v pojmovej oblasti, ako aj v teoretickej. V neposlednom rade  učebnica napĺňa ambíciu motivovať záujem k ďalšej tvorivej akademickej práce a v rozširovaní vedomostí z oblasti zahraničnej, bezpečnostnej a medzinárodnej politiky v prepojení na diplomaciou.

Meniace sa podmienky na trhu práce prinášajú aj nové výzvy pre pracovné právo. Pôvodne relatívne homogénny charakter pracovných síl je minulosťou a dochádza ku stále väčšej fragmentácii. Štandardná práca v pracovnom pomere na neurčitý čas a na plný úväzok je na ústupe, rozširujú sa najrôznejšie formy atypických zamestnaní. Osobitná regulácia právneho postavenia zamestnaných osôb môže byť  determinantom ovplyvňujúcim zachovávanie dôstojnosti a ich ochrany v pracovnom procese. Osobitné kategórie zamestnancov, ktorým v tejto monografii venujeme pozornosť sú určitým spôsobom „povýšené“ z hľadiska ochrany a  u niektorých  kategórií zamestnancov zaznamenávame práve medzerovitosť v ochrannej zložke pracovného práva. Trendom vývoja pracovného práva je okrem iného prirodzená miera upúšťania od prílišnej kogentnosti a rigidnosti právnej úpravy. Paradoxne nastupujúca ,,rigidná“ požiadavka flexibility pracovnoprávnych vzťahov a jej postupné „zapracovanie„ do jednotlivých právnych inštitútov Zákonníka práce či iných pracovnoprávnych predpisov,  spôsobuje ďalšie významné prehlbovanie zaostávania posilňovania ochrany zamestnanca (pri telepráci, pri platformových zamestnancoch).

Vysokoškolská učebnica pripravená na pôde Fakulty verejnej správy UPJŠ je primárne určená ako študijná literatúra pre výučbu viacerých študijných predmetov na tejto fakulte, ale aj iných fakultách UPJŠ. Jej obsah zodpovedá porovnateľným  učebnicovým dielam vydaným ostatnom desaťročí v Slovenskej republike. Úvodné kapitoly (I Štát a II Forma štátu) sú venované vymedzeniu a obsahovej analýze základných štátovedných pojmov (štát, suverenita štátu, štátny mechanizmus, štátny orgán, forma štátu, forma vlády, forma štátneho zriadenia, štátny režim). V III kapitole označenej nadpisom Demokratický štát autor podrobne analyzuje podstatu   demokratického    štátu,   základné   formy   výkonu   moci  v demokratickom   štáte a samostatnú podkapitolu venuje volebnému právu. V podobe exkurzu autor približuje aj nedemokratické formy štátu. V nadväzujúcej IV kapitole označenej nadpisom Právny štát autor, zvýrazňujúc organickú väzbu medzi demokratickým a právnym štátom, venuje pozornosť historickému vývoju idey právneho štátu, analýze princípov právneho štátu a základom teórie konštitucionalizmu. Učebnica vyúsťuje do záverečnej kapitoly označenej nadpisom Právne postavenie jednotlivca v demokratickom právnom štáte(ľudské práva a ich ochrana).

In mid-October 2014, the second annual conference "Human Capital and Society" was held, organized by the Department of Social Studies of the Faculty of Public Administration at P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, in collaboration with another department of the faculty, the Department of Economics and Management of Public Administration. Today, you have before you the proceedings encompassing contributions presented by participants of this conference. In preparing it, the editors had to deal with the diversity of the participants' profiles, which was reflected in the authors' approaches to the issues they addressed, and subsequently had the contributions reviewed by experts from various fields. The individual contributions address traditional topics, as well as newer and emerging themes, reflecting current problems and questions related to human capital, organizational behavior, and primarily, public administration.

At the conference, researchers specializing in management, psychology, political science, social work, sociology, anthropology, linguistics, as well as individuals who do not belong to just one scientific discipline, came together. It was interesting to see how people from different disciplines view the same phenomenon. The conference demonstrated that an interdisciplinary approach can highlight the shortcomings in identifying and understanding problems from the perspective of just one discipline.
