Health determines an individual's life in all activities and interests, including the possibility and ability to work. Work and health are in the mutual interaction. Work leads to social inclusion, financial self-sufficiency, finding confirmation of one's own usefulness or achieving personal ambitions. Work can have therapeutic effects, but at the same time it can have an adverse effect on health.

Overlapping factors of work environment, alone or in combination with non-work influences, can lead to illnesses that temporarily or permanently exclude an employee from his or her profession. For these reasons, health enjoys fundamental legal protection as one of the most important values, not only in labour relations.

The topic that the students focused on in The proceedings of the XVIIIth edition of the Student Symposium on International and European Law held on November 15, 2024 was centered around the legacy of the 105th anniversary of the Paris Peace Conference. The proceedings, which contain the students' contributions, reflect the pivotal role of this conference in shaping post-war geopolitical stability and redefining relations between states. The expert analyses included in the proceedings focus on the conditions that were intended to ensure lasting peace, yet also created controversial aspects that led to disputes and laid the foundation for future tensions. The students also addressed the impact of the conference's decisions on political and social structures that significantly influenced global development in the 20th century. In addition to the declared outcomes, the students also expressed, in written form within the proceedings, the need to strengthen international cooperation and establish institutions for the prevention of military conflicts, a need that remains relevant today, as these decisions continue to shape the dynamics of contemporary international relations.

The presented monograph aims to provide an in-depth overview of the issue of international tax evasion, both in terms of its conceptual foundations and with regard to specific methods and schemes used to carry out tax evasion.

The members of the authorial team have also addressed questions of tax evasion in their previous works: "International Tax Evasion and Tax Havens" (JUDr. Jozef Sábo) and "Legal Aspects of the Elimination of Double Taxation and Prevention of Tax Evasion" (JUDr. Peter Huba).

This monograph represents a synthesis of the relevant research activities of the authorial team, enriched by the interdisciplinary dimension of the tax evasion problem. At the same time, it highlights those shortcomings that appear to be the most serious from the perspective of the risk of international tax evasion and base erosion in Slovakia. In this respect, a comparative perspective on the issue is presented, drawing extensively from American sources, mainly due to the high quality and long-standing research on international tax evasion in the United States.

The authorial team believes that this monograph will help to bring the issue of corporate income tax evasion closer to the professional public, and that it will receive attention equal to that given to VAT fraud and other pressing issues of current tax legislation.

The International Scientific Conference on the topic Condition and perspectives of public finances in the EU was held 2nd – 3rd June 2022in Košice focused on the topics of the EU Budget and Real Estate in taxation. On this occasion, a student symposium on the topic: "Condition and perspectives of financial law and tax law" was organized for students of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University Faculty of Law in Košice on 1st June 2022. The focus of the symposium was chosen due to the content of the grant project VEGA no. 1/0485/21: „Simultaneity and possibilities of reforming the system of own resources of the EU budget (legal and economic aspects also in the context of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic)“, of the grant project VEGA no. 1/0214/21: „Taxation of real property – legal status and potential“ and of the grant project APVV-19-0124 entitled "Tax law and new phenomena in the economy (digital services, shared economy, virtual currencies)", which are currently being addressed at the Department of Financial Law, Tax Law and Economy, Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.

The output of this symposium is a reviewed proceeding of papers, in which students focus on examining the current challenges of financial law and tax law. In this context, students examine not only the issue of current challenges in the field of real estate tax and the introduction of taxation based on their market value of real estate and the institute of remedies in tax procedural law, but also the current issue of EU budget law with a focus on the revenue side of the EU budget.

The authors also assess in detail the current situation in the research area, and they also present de lege ferenda proposals that could contribute to the development and improvement of several aspects of taxation, which is a benefit not only for legal science but also for application practice.

Dopĺňa ich o fenomenologické údaje vývoja kriminality v SR do roku 2024 a etiológiu obohacuje o vývoj kriminogénnych činiteľov na prahu 21. storočia. Čitateľ zaregistruje nové kapitoly, ktoré poukazujú na dynamický rozvoj kriminologických tém súčasnosti. Patrí k nim korupcia, extrémizmus, terorizmus a sociálna patológia v akademickom prostredí. Samostatný priestor v učebnici získala kapitola venovaná kriminologickým teóriam. Tradične učebnica prezentuje racionálny obsah a zároveň dbá na jeho aktivizačnú formu. Kladenie otázok, zamýšľanie sa nad obsahom, nabádanie k aktivite smeruje k podpore snahy čitateľa hlbšie poznať problém, účelne si ho osvojiť a využiť v praxi. Učebnica je určená študentom a učiteľom fakúlt, osobitne právnických, ako aj tých, ktoré majú kriminológiu v učebných plánoch. Môže byť cenným pomocníkom i pre právnikov v praxi, pracovníkov v oblasti trestnej politiky a prevencii kriminality, novinárov kriminovín a verejnosti, ktorá sa zaujíma o dynamiku kriminality a jej prevenciu.

Učebnica s názvom Vybrané otázky sociálneho práva Európskej únie prierezovo spracúva najzásadnejšie otázky pracovného práva a práva sociálneho zabezpečenia v Európskej únii. V úvodných statiach učebnice sa autori zamerali na objasnenie základnej terminológie a stručne poukazujú na vývoj sociálneho práva v Únii. Ďalšie kapitoly práce postupne vysvetľujú vybranú problematiku ktorá celkovo dotvára sociálne právo Európskej únie, konkrétne – voľný pohyb zamestnancov, zákaz diskriminácie, flexibilitu pracovných vzťahov prostredníctvom atypických pracovných pomerov, dočasné pridelenie zamestnancov, ochranu osobitných kategórií zamestnancov, ochranu osobných údajov, oblasť bezpečnosti a ochrany zdravia pri práci, ochranu práv zamestnancov pri prevode, prechode zamestnávateľa a jeho platobnej neschopnosti, kolektívnu ochranu práv zamestnancov a napokon uplatňovanie systémov sociálneho zabezpečenia. Učebnica analyzuje predovšetkým úniovú úpravu s akcentom na rozhodnú judikatúru Súdneho dvora Európskej únie, vnútroštátny právny poriadok objasňuje iba vo vybraných problematických oblastiach.

The presented publication is the proceedings of the international conference held on 29.-30. September 2022 in Košice as an output of the grant project APVV-19-0419.

The ambition of the project is to try to reconcile legal and general historians from Slovakia and Hungary in the difficult topic of looking at the Treaty of Trianon from 1920. The conference, held on 29.-30. September 2022 was the third in a series of conferences that for the purpose of assisting in the achievement of said goal. It was attended by legal historians and positive lawyers from several Central European countries. So let the collection serve as another step towards understanding between nations.

The presented textbook on the general part of substantive administrative law offers a comprehensive collection of knowledge, principles, doctrines, institutions, and legal norms that form the foundation for the existence and functioning of public administration. It serves as a prerequisite for mastering the special part of substantive administrative law and administrative procedural law. This updated version of the first edition of the textbook reflects the current development of public administration, the state of administrative law, and educational needs. The textbook introduces key institutions of the general part of administrative law, which are essential for understanding how public administration operates in Slovakia. Preložená vysokoškolská učebnica je venovaná problematike trestného práva procesného, ktorú autori v rovnakom zložení spracovali v roku 2006, bezprostredne po účinnosti nového rekodifikovaného Tr. por. – zák. č. 301/2005 Z.z. Obdobie, ktoré uplynulo od účinnosti tejto právnej normy nepochybne prispelo k potvrdeniu či ustáleniu názorov na niektoré nové inštitúty a súčasne si vyžiadalo potrebu reagovať na početné novelizácie tohto zákona.

Štruktúra predloženej publikácie, členenie do jednotlivých kapitol, v podstate korešponduje s úpravou jednotlivých inštitútov obsiahnutých v Tr. poriadku, a to od úpravy základných pojmov, prameňov, zásad trestného konania, cez postavenie jednotlivých subjektov trestného konania, procesné úkony, inštitúty zaisťovacej povahy a dôkaznej povahy, jednotlivé štádia trestného konania až po úpravu právneho styku s cudzinou, resp. trov trestného konania. Ako už bolo uvedené, autori reagujú na pomerne časté a v mnohých prípadoch aj výrazné zmeny úpravy rekodofikovaného Tr. poriadku, vrátane súvisiacich právnych predpisov, prezentujú svoje názory i názory mnohých iných odborníkov na spracovanú problematiku a tieto konfrontujú s poznatkami z praxe, vrátane uvádzania aktuálnej iudikatúry.

Ambíciou autorov tak bolo a naďalej zostáva, ponúknuť predovšetkým študentom právnických fakúlt základnú učebnú pomôcku pre štúdium trestného práva procesného.

Proceedings of the 2nd Student Symposium on Company Law In November 2014

The second annual Student Symposium on Commercial Law—more specifically, on Company Law—was held at the university’s facility in Danišovce. As in the previous year, the aim of the symposium was to provide students with a greater opportunity to articulate their own perspectives on current legal issues and to present the results of their individual work.

The theme of the second symposium focused on the governing bodies of commercial companies, aligning it thematically with the APVV research project being carried out by members of the Department of Commercial and Economic Law at our Faculty of Law. This overarching topic made it possible to assign a range of current legal issues, allowing students to explore problems they are likely to encounter in their future professional practice. The selected topics are not among those unanimously settled by legal doctrine or established case law.

On the contrary, they were deliberately chosen for their complexity and the lack of sufficient domestic literature. As a result, students had to go beyond standard textbook or commentary-based knowledge to thoroughly address their assigned topics.

The presented selection of public international law documents aims to map international law from both historical and sectoral perspectives. The reader will find several historical documents in this collection, but the focus is primarily on currently valid legal sources.

The selection is guided by the publication Public International Law – General and Special Part by Prof. Ján Klučko, which is reflected in the division into general and special parts. The general part addresses the historical development of international law but primarily focuses on the protection of individuals and responsibility relationships in international law. The special part then examines the international regulation of various institutions of international law.

We acknowledge that this selection offers room for expansion, but we believe it meets basic requirements and fills a certain gap in the study of international law.

We trust that this collection of public international law materials will be beneficial for students, and not only for them, in the study of public international law and will contribute to raising awareness in this field.

Collection of papers from session of the slovak section of the IVR

In accordance with its name, the collection is devoted to three framework areas consisting of the rule of law, justice and the future of democracy, reflecting the focus of the 31st World Congress of the International Association for the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR). Published contributions of the slovak section of the IVR are devoted to the present questions of the rule of law in relation to the democratic legal state. Principles of the rule of law and present questions connected to the democratic character of the Slovak republic, including the democratic procedures on the local level, are juxtaposed with shifts on the international and global scene. Individual contributions are thus devoted to the technical and biotechnological challenges of contemporary democracy, the manifestation of game theory in the search for consensus in collegial judicial bodies, or to the concept of loyal opposition in the ongoing judicial dialogue surrounding the application of law in the european legal space. Space is also devoted to the universal questions of the nature of legal science, and to the present and future of the rule of law. The collection thus goes beyond the borders of the slovak legal space and aims to understand current trends in a broader context.
