Pomocné učebné texty Biológia a genetika – pracovný zošit pre bakalárske študijné programy na praktické cvičenia z lekárskej biológie a genetiky sú určené predovšetkým pre študentov 1. ročníka bakalárskych odborov na UPJŠ LF v Košiciach (ošetrovateľstvo, fyzioterapia a verejné zdravotníctvo). Sú zamerané tak, aby vybranými praktickými úlohami a modelovými príkladmi vhodne dopĺňali, prehlbovali a ilustrovali látku, ktorú si študent vypočuje na prednáškach, alebo prečíta v učebnici. Dve základné oblasti pokryté v textoch sú cytológia a genetika.

Táto učebnica je určená pre zahraničných študentov medicíny – začiatočníkov – ako slovenčina na špecifický účel výučby. Jej cieľom je pomôcť zahraničným študentom, ktorí (1) študujú medicínu (2) v cudzom jazyku (anglický jazyk) a (3) v zahraničí (Slovensko) zvládnuť výzvu pri príprave na praktickú časť ich štúdia – konverzácia s pacientom v Slovenskom jazyku.Zámerom je poskytnúť študentom krok za krokom najfrekventovanejšie slovné spojenia a výrazy potrebné pri komunikácii s pacientom. Lekcie sa zameriavajú hlavne na slovnú zásobu týkajúcu sa častí ľudského tela a na základné symptómy a príznaky chorôb.Dôraz je kladený na krátke dialógy medzi lekárom a pacientom. Pri precvičovaní dialógov sú študenti vedení k nácviku komunikácie so zreteľom na porozumenie, bez prípadných obáv o gramatickú správnosť. Gramatické javy sú predstavované postupne, cez jednoduché  pomôcky – „tipy“.V prípade potreby si môžu študenti nájsť a doplniť si „chýbajúce časti gramatiky“ prostredníctvom odkazov na odporúčanú literatúru. Cieľom tejto knihy je uľahčiť a zefektívniť celý proces štúdia/osvojenia si (lekárskej) slovenčiny.

Vysokoškolský učebný text Chlopňové chyby je prvou slovenskou publikáciou, ktorá sa venuje využitiu simulátorovej medicíny vo výučbe auskultácie srdca. Cieľom publikácie bolo skvalitnenie štúdia vnútorného lekárstva využitím kardiologického simulátora, ktorým disponuje Centrum simulátorovej a virtuálnej medicíny (CSVM) na Lekárskej fakulte UPJŠ. Výučbový materiál môže poslúžiť nielen ako príprava k praktickým cvičeniam so simulátorom Cardiology Patient Simulator „K“ ver 2 (Kyoto Kagaku), ale aj ako užitočná pomôcka pre študentov počas praktických cvičení pri lôžku pacienta. Študenti v publikácii nájdu okrem detailného opisu auskultačných nálezov na jednotlivých chlopniach aj podrobne vysvetlenú ich klinickú manifestáciu u pacienta pri fyzikálnom vyšetrení. Samozrejmou súčasťou sú EKG a echokardiografické nálezy a v neposlednom rade aj možnosť manažmentu jednotlivých chlopňových chýb podľa najnovších odporúčaní Európskej kardiologickej spoločnosti. Využitie publikácie je pre študentov medicíny od internej propedeutiky (3. ročník) až po záverečné štátnicové skúšky.

The scientific monograph focuses on the characteristics of free radicals, reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, oxidative stress, and its impact on various diseases. A significant portion is dedicated to antioxidants, their classification based on multiple criteria, the characteristics of selected antioxidants in terms of their functions, manifestations of their deficiency and excess, and the overall antioxidant capacity of the body.

A special section is devoted to enzyme-based antioxidants, natural sources of antioxidants in the form of vitamins, trace elements, flavonoids, polyphenols, and coenzyme Q10. To provide a clearer understanding of antioxidants and their influence on population health, the monograph presents results from a research project included in the program "Research Support for Enhancing the Defense Capabilities of the Czech Republic in NATO Structures."

The research was conducted between 2010 and 2012 as part of preventive rehabilitation programs for professional soldiers with a sports component. The study involved 218 professional soldiers, including 180 men and 38 women, with an average age of 33.3 years. The current health status and dietary habits of the soldiers were assessed using questionnaires.

The study described the saturation of the observed group with antioxidant vitamins and statistically evaluated the relationship between their levels and the risk indicators for the development of cardiovascular diseases. Individual analyses were performed using the Reflotron device calibrated with Reflotron Precinorm control serum. Following blood collection, all participants underwent anthropometric examinations (body weight, height, waist circumference), blood pressure measurements, heart rate monitoring, and physical fitness assessments through simple functional tests.

This scientific monograph is suitable for the scientific community, students of medical, veterinary, and natural sciences, as well as public health students at all levels of university education. It is also intended for informed members of the public.

Doctoral students will present their research papers in two sections: 22 doctoral students of Faculty of Public Administration, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Arts, and 26 doctoral students of Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Science. It is known that pharmacology is a rapidly evolving medical field, with information about drug forms and their routes of administration constantly changing. In addition to the emergence of new drug forms, new trends are also observed in the routes of administration suitable for delivering drugs. Despite being significant factors influencing the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy – an indispensable component of comprehensive patient care – to our knowledge, there has been a lack of comprehensive and detailed textual material focused on this issue on the market. This fact is related to the broader scope of the professional text we are presenting, as rare drug forms or less commonly used routes of administration are only marginally mentioned or not mentioned at all in available pharmacology textbooks.

Our main goal was therefore to provide sufficient information about existing drug forms, their routes of administration, as well as their methods of delivery, which should serve to enhance the quality of pharmacotherapy in the context of so-called "tailored treatment," whose main effort is to individualize treatment for a specific patient. Although the work focuses on drug application methods, a detailed description of the technical implementation of algorithms and other related procedures is the subject of interest for other fields (nursing, surgical propaedeutics, etc.). Overall, it is a supplementary educational text provided in electronic form, which is extremely popular in today's modern informatized era. Thanks to this, the work can be used at any time at home or in a school environment, comprehensively or progressively, partially. We have also tried to enhance its quality by appropriate content organization, inclusion of practical experiences, as well as the inclusion of colorful images or photographs, overview tables, and appendices.

The textbook is supplemented by test quizzes serving to verify acquired selected knowledge, which are published on the website of the Department of Pharmacology at the Medical Faculty of UPJŠ in Košice (under "Teaching" → "Taught subjects"), and which will be continuously supplemented and updated (http://www.lf.upjs.sk/farmakologia/TEST%201.htm; http://www.lf.upjs.sk/farmakologia/TEST%202.htm).

Although the work is primarily intended for medical students, or students of pharmacy and other healthcare fields, we firmly believe that enriching information will be found in it by beginning graduates of these fields, as well as their teachers.

We would like to introduce the study material/textbook Nursing Care Clinical Procedures I, which was developed to cover the curriculum of Nursing Care 1 for medical students. Clinical procedures are an essential component of nursing practice. The textbook contains four main chapters. Each chapter begins with a general explanation of the topic, followed by detailed method description of procedures to help students deliver high - quality care to patients. Some chapters also include appendi xes in order to pick up some special examples from clinical practice. The textbook strongly describes bandages because a carelessly or improperly applied bandage can cause discomfort to the patient, in many cases it may expose the wound to the danger of infection. To the best of wound knowledge, these procedures reflect currently accepted clinical practice and up-to-date information. The textbook can be easily integrated into an educational programme and can be used in the laboratory as well as in clinical practice. During the preparation of this textbook the information, facts, notes, publications, books and literature presented in the references section were also used. The publication include DVD, which is concentrated on applying bandages from head to lower extremity. DVD was developed in cooperation during IRES project. The student can also find additional information to study by following references. The reading level of Nursing Care Clinical Procedures I is designed to be comprehensible to as many students as possible, including those for whom Engl ish is a second language. We hope that this textbook will be useful to all readers. The authors take no personal responsibility for applying this information to a particular clinical practice
situation.

The aim of this publication is to present the latest findings of the international study Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC), regarding the health and health-related behavior of school-aged children in Slovakia.After four years, it again brings information on various topics covering physical and mental health, nutritional behavior, leisure-time activities, use of psychoactive substances, within social environment of school-aged children, including family, school and peers. The publication also presents newfindings connected to objectively measured physical fitness of these children. Vysokoškolský učebný text Ochorenia jazyka sa zameriava na anomálie a choroby postihujúce jazyk.  V jednotlivých kapitolách opisuje vrodené stavy, s ktorými sa na jazyku stretávame, ich diagnostiku ako aj možnosti liečby, ako aj jednotlivé samostatné chorobné jednotky. Úvodnú kapitolu tvoria lokálne ochorenia jazyka, kedy ochorenie nemá prejavy na iných ústnych slizniciach. Ďalšou skupinou sú ochorenia, kde je symptomatológia choroby prítomná na jazyku, ale aj na ostatných ústnych slizniciach. Okrem týchto stavov vznikajúcich priamo v ústnej dutine sú v ďalších kapitolách rozobraté stavy, kde celkové ochorenia, akými sú infekčné, endokrinologické, krvné a dermatologické ochorenia vyvolávajú zmeny na jazyku. Samostatné kapitoly sú venované prekanceróznym stavom a benígnym a tumoriformným léziam.  Poslednú kapitolu tvoria ochorenia jazyka u detskej populácie.
