Jsme si vědomi toho, že nemůže pokrýt celou předkládanou problematiku, podává však základní údaje k získání odbornosti k práci v jednotlivých úsecích práce komunitní sestry. Učební text je rozdělen do dvou celků. První část se věnuje základním a všeobecným tématům ošetřovatelství, které se týkají ochrany komunitního zdraví, druhá je zaměřena na péči o speciální populační skupiny v komunitě. Každá kapitola začíná výčtem učebních cílů, kterých by měl po prostudování čtenář dosáhnout. Na konci kapitol jsou úkoly a otázky, kterými si může prověřit pochopení dané učební látky.

Two days´conference was opened by Dean of the Faculty of Arts of P. J. Šafárik University, Prof. PhDr. Ján Gbúr, CSc.,in the presence of Prof. PhDr. Vladimír Leško, CSc., Head of The Department of Philosophy and History of Philosophy, and of foreign guests and students of the University.

The following material has been created during the two years of teaching English for Chemists at the Faculty of Science of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University and is therefore designed to meet the needs of this course. The main motivation was the lack of appropriate materials, especially as the groups generally comprise students with a very diverse level of English. This diversity therefore became the main criterion determining both the form and the content of this text.

In the ten units that provide material for a one semester course, the emphasis is put on teaching the students vocabulary and terminology, which is introduced via authentic texts, depending on the topic of each unit. Students are encouraged to learn the meaning of new words in context. Grammar is included too, with the aim of demonstrating and explaining grammatical rules by means of examples taken directly from the texts. For the more advanced students, grammatical exercises in this material can serve for revision while the beginners might need more supplementary materials.

I hope that this material, the preparation of which has been a challenging as well as enjoyable experience will be useful for future teachers and the students of this course.

The theme of the presented university textbook is a summary of selected basic knowledge of hygiene - environmental medicine. The script includes significant areas of environmental medicine as a science: the basics of environmental medicine, health and prevention issues of environmental health and risk assessment of potential exposure, the issue of air pollution, indoor pollution, problems of drinking water, the action of soil and solid waste, further issue of housing, nutrition and the impact of working conditions on health. Nutritional factors textbooks dealing with issues of rational nutrition, describe the individual components of nutrition, but also address the issue of food hygiene and the possibilities of foodborne infections. One chapter is also devoted to the impact of environmental conditions on health of children and youth. 

University textbook as a manuscript consists from 199 manuscript pages, is divided into 12 basic chapters, contains 36 citations in the literature.  In the Preface, the issue of categorization of diseases and define the basic concepts of health, prevention. Other chapters deal with the above selected chapters hygiene.

This university textbook comes as a basic university textbook for students of general  medicine in the English language, for students of bachelor's and master's studies  of medical schools - mainly bachelor's and master' program of  "Public health". Students of medicine and dentistry can also use these textbooks as an educational tool in the study of other subjects in the teaching of public health.
