The aim of this university textbook is to provide a systematically structured teaching text focused on research in health sciences and, at the same time, to offer a practical methodological manual for writing final theses intended for students of medical and non-medical fields of study. The first chapter introduces the topic, maps the historical development of research in medical and non-medical sciences, and explains the concept of evidence-based practice (EBP) in the context of research activities. It also highlights the importance of research for these fields and describes the individual steps, principles, and methodological procedures of scientific work. The second chapter focuses on the basic attributes of research in health sciences, with an emphasis on key definitions, basic research designs, the typology of scientific studies, and the possibilities for using the relevant methodologies. It also includes the interpretation and analytical processing of quantitative data, while the third chapter analogously elaborates on the qualitative research approach. The fourth chapter is devoted to the ethical aspects of scientific research. The fifth chapter focuses on the evaluation of research papers in terms of their quality, structure, content coherence, reliability, and validity. The final sixth chapter provides methodological guidelines for planning, implementing, and processing individual types of final theses, with the aim of offering students practical and clearly structured instructions for their preparation. The publication also includes questions, tasks, and exercises that supplement theoretical knowledge with practical examples. These cases are intended to develop students' ability to design research studies and methodologically correctly prepare final theses.

We would like to introduce the study material „A small phrases book for Nursing Care“, which was developed to help foreign medical students, who study at Slovak medical faculties, to communicate, in Slovak with patients and medical staff.

The book is English based and is therefore suitable for both classroom use and for self-study. It provides a key for vocabulary, useful phrases, since it is likely that patients will use them.

Vocabulary is organized according to specific nursing area from a few basic nursing condition and its aim is to intensify the learning process.

We hope that this textbook will help you to overcome some difficulties in Slovak communication and make your training in hospitals easier and more efficient. The authors take no personal responsibility for any effects resulting from the act of the following procedure.

Učebnica je určená najmä študentom vysokoškolského štúdia ošetrovateľstva a ďalších nelekárskych zdravotníckych študijných programov. Poskytuje základné poznatky potrebné na pochopenie fyziologických procesov v zdravom ľudskom organizme.

PREDHOVOR
Fyziológia človeka je veda, ktorá skúma a vysvetľuje funkcie ľudského organizmu. Štúdium fyziologických procesov sa uskutočňuje na bunkovej, tkanivovej, orgánovej a systémovej úrovni, ktoré sa integrujú na úrovni organizmu ako celku. Neustály a rozsiahly výskum v oblasti fyziológie obohacuje naše poznanie o nové informácie, a preto zorientovať sa vo veľkom množstve poznatkov môže byť pre študenta ťažké.
Snahou autorov bolo „ušiť na mieru“ učebnicu fyziológie človeka pre študentov bakalárskeho štúdia nelekárskych študijných programov, ktorá poskytne základné informácie o fungovaní ľudského tela v dostatočnej hĺbke a rozsahu, aby na nich mohli budovať vedomosti získané štúdiom ďalších predmetov, prípadne ich využiť v praxi.
Veríme, že učebnica umožní odhaliť dokonalosť životných procesov a bude pre študentov dobrou pomôckou pre pochopenie funkcií jednotlivých orgánov a systémov do takej miery, že budú fyziológiu študovať nielen so záujmom, ale aj s radosťou.
