Intervention Program for Supporting Self-Care in Helping Professions: "How Do I Take Care of Myself?" The intervention program "How Do I Take Care of Myself?" was developed as part of the research project APVV14-0921, "Self-Care as a Factor in Coping with the Negative Consequences of Engaging in Helping Professions." Its uniqueness lies in being created based on specific research outputs from the program's authors and project.

In the first chapter, the authors offer insights into the preparation of the intervention program, justifying its theoretical foundations, methods, and specifics of the program participants. They also provide an overview of research on the effectiveness of various intervention programs aimed at reducing the negative consequences of helping and enhancing self-care and other positive effects of engaging in helping professions. Subsequent chapters focus on a detailed analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention program "How Do I Take Care of Myself?" and its comparison with the effectiveness of other programs, which were differently focused, targeted at different populations of helping professionals, and had different theoretical and practical orientations and foundations. Most of these studies demonstrated positive changes only in isolated cases, due to various methodological shortcomings often related to practical application.

What differentiates the intervention program presented in this monograph is the participation of helping professionals actively practicing in the social field, unlike most intervention programs compiled and validated for students of these professions. The student population, being more accessible to researchers, allows for better methodology, including a larger number of participants, as well as experimental manipulation and group balancing. In the case of participants in the validation of the program "How Do I Take Care of Myself?", it involved practitioners who are engaged in the daily work process and completed training during their work breaks, which placed high demands on balancing their work and personal tasks. We believe that the effects we discovered during the validation of the effectiveness of the presented intervention program were not always clearly mathematically graspable but were evident from individual feedback.

We present the text of this monograph to the professional public with the aim of highlighting the benefits, limitations of the intervention program, as well as inspiring researchers and practitioners to further work in this area.

We would like to introduce the study material „A small phrases book for Nursing Care“, which was developed to help foreign medical students, who study at Slovak medical faculties, to communicate, in Slovak with patients and medical staff.

The book is English based and is therefore suitable for both classroom use and for self-study. It provides a key for vocabulary, useful phrases, since it is likely that patients will use them.

Vocabulary is organized according to specific nursing area from a few basic nursing condition and its aim is to intensify the learning process.

We hope that this textbook will help you to overcome some difficulties in Slovak communication and make your training in hospitals easier and more efficient. The authors take no personal responsibility for any effects resulting from the act of the following procedure.

Učebnice ošetřovatelství zaměřená na problematiku gynekologie a porodnictví doplňuje řadu publikací pro ošetřovatelství v klinických oborech. Po prostudování budou studenti připraveni na splnění studijních požadavků v tomto předmětu.

Zaměřuje se na ošetřování nemocných a rodiček z pohledu sestry, s využitím ošetřovatelského procesu a jeho jednotlivých fází. Vzhledem k tomu, že od vydání uběhlo 10 let, objevily se nové klasifikace patologických změn, které by studenti měli znát. Autoři také přihlížejí k cizím textům, převážně k nejnovější americké učebnici Robbins & Cotran: Pathologic basis of disease.Od doby vydání vyšly velké učebnice Patologie prof. MUDr. C. Povýšila, prof. MUDr. I. Šteinera a spoluautorů; trojdílná učebnice Patologie prof. MUDr. J. Zámečníka, Ph.D., a spoluautorů. Obě díla jsou vynikající příručky pro studenty lékařských fakult, oboru všeobecné lékařství, a pro postgraduální vzdělávání. Pro bakalářské obory a také pro studenty zubního lékařství jsou však texty příliš rozsáhlé, studenti se v nich ztrácejí a nejsou schopni text absorbovat a proniknout do něj. Stejně tak by se předkládaná učebnice mohla použít pro rychlé opakování, vzhledem k lepší orientaci v ní. Tato publikace se snaží medicínské termíny nejen uvádět, ale také vysvětlovat, takže studenti nemusejí výrazy hledat ve slovnících a v dalších odborných textech. Autoři používají jednoduché a srozumitelné věty.V učebnici jsou na četných místech tučně zvýrazněna klíčová slova, na která u zkoušky bude zkoušející čekat. Výhodou je také to, že jednosvazkové dílo se může lépe přenášet, a studenti se tak mohou knihou probírat i mimo domov.Publikace může sloužit jako základní učebnice pro studenty zubního lékařství, jako doplňková učebnice pro studenty oboru všeobecné lékařství, ale hlavně pro studenty nelékařských zdravotnických oborů (v určitém omezeném rozsahu) a vyšších odborných zdravotnických škol.

The proposed university textbook provides knowledge in the field of nursing in internal medicine. It is intended primarily for students of the nursing program, but also for nurses working in this specialization. The textbook builds on the previous two parts: Nursing Process in Internal Medicine I (Sováriová Soósová, 2006) and Nursing Process in Internal Medicine II (Suchanová, 2007). It is divided into four chapters, focusing on disorders of water and electrolyte balance and acid-base equilibrium, kidney and urinary tract diseases, endocrine system diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Each chapter is similarly structured, beginning with diagnostic methods commonly used in the respective area. Subsequent subchapters address nursing care for selected diseases of specific bodily systems. Each subchapter consists of a clinical introduction (characteristics of the disease, its etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment) and nursing care for the given disease. This includes assessment, formulation of nursing diagnoses, and planning nursing care (setting goals, outcome criteria, and planning possible interventions).

The textbook serves as a model framework and algorithm for managing nursing care using the nursing process method.

We would like to introduce the study material/textbook Nursing Care Clinical Procedures I, which was developed to cover the curriculum of Nursing Care 1 for medical students. Clinical procedures are an essential component of nursing practice. The textbook contains four main chapters. Each chapter begins with a general explanation of the topic, followed by detailed method description of procedures to help students deliver high - quality care to patients. Some chapters also include appendi xes in order to pick up some special examples from clinical practice. The textbook strongly describes bandages because a carelessly or improperly applied bandage can cause discomfort to the patient, in many cases it may expose the wound to the danger of infection. To the best of wound knowledge, these procedures reflect currently accepted clinical practice and up-to-date information. The textbook can be easily integrated into an educational programme and can be used in the laboratory as well as in clinical practice. During the preparation of this textbook the information, facts, notes, publications, books and literature presented in the references section were also used. The publication include DVD, which is concentrated on applying bandages from head to lower extremity. DVD was developed in cooperation during IRES project. The student can also find additional information to study by following references. The reading level of Nursing Care Clinical Procedures I is designed to be comprehensible to as many students as possible, including those for whom Engl ish is a second language. We hope that this textbook will be useful to all readers. The authors take no personal responsibility for applying this information to a particular clinical practice

Neurológia je veľmi zaujímavý a dynamicky sa rozvíjajúci klinický odbor, ktorý sa zaoberá ochoreniami centrálneho, periférneho a vegetatívneho nervového systému, nervovosvalového prenosu a svalov. Učebnica informuje čitateľa vo všeobecnej časti o anatómii a fyziológii nervového systému, o zásadách neurologického vyšetrenia, o neurologických príznakoch a syndrómoch a o pomocných vyšetrovacích metódach. Ďalej informuje o základoch neuropsychológie, rehabilitácie a klinickej logopédie. Náplňou špeciálnej časti je opis jednotlivých neurologických ochorení, ich diagnostika a liečba. Spracovanie špeciálnej neurológie je podrobnejšie než vyžadujú potreby zdravotníckeho vzdelávania. Tematika, ktorá je nad rámec bakalárskeho a magisterského štúdia, je vyznačená menším písmom. Pre záujemcov o odbor môže byť zdrojom dôležitých informácií, ktoré pomôžu lepšie pochopiť závažnosť problematiky neurologických ochorení. Niektoré kapitoly zahrnujú aj ošetrovateľské, záchranárske a rehabilitačné minimum, v ktorom sú uvedené najpodstatnejšie poznatky a inštrukcie pre zdravotníkov.

Publikace je koncipována jako základní učebnice pro studenty ošetřovatelství, je však určena také všem sestrám v praxi. Naučí čtenáře základní techniky sběru anamnestických dat a fyzikálního vyšetření pacientů. Sestry budou schopné získat co nejvíce informací o pacientovi, sledovat změny ve zdravotním stavu, správně tyto změny dokumentovat a včas a fundovaně o nich informovat lékaře. Tyto dovednosti podporují větší samostatnost v práci sester, na kterou klade důraz současná koncepce ošetřovatelství schválená ministerstvem zdravotnictví. Autorka má bohaté zkušenosti s výukou tohoto předmětu v oboru ošetřovatelství. Text je doplněn četnými obrázky a fotografiemi.
