Research into justice in public administration organizations has not yet been conducted in Slovakia, not even in the scope of respondents addressed. Therefore, we consider the project cross-sectional, current, and beneficial for deeper exploration of this area.

The project is designed as interdisciplinary, combining insights from legal perspectives in defining justice from labor law aspects, psychological and ethical evaluations of fairness levels, and knowledge from public administration management fields.

The inspiration for selecting this topic stems from its academic relevance, confirmed by both domestic and international studies, as well as its public relevance, where laypeople most intensely perceive justice/injustice in relation to remuneration and appropriate labor-law conditions – exemplified by teachers’ strikes (2003, 2006, 2016), nurses’ strikes (2003, 2006, 2012, 2016), ŽSR employees’ strikes (2003), and doctors’ strikes (2011).

The topic of our research task of the same name VEGA 1/0757/17 was based on the question – and was likewise defined in its approved project – how public administration as one of the providers of public services can act as efficiently as possible in favour of making these services available from the aspect (place of permanent residence) of the citizen.

This can be done with a certain optimality in the structure of public administration, primarily at the local, but also at the supra-local, e.g. regional, level. If, for example, the settlement structure is too disintegrated, or conversely the regional structure is too aggregated (or even too fragmented), various alternative solutions must be sought that are rational and optimal for satisfying citizens and that will not waste public resources.

In this, it is also questionable how the system of state administration authorities and local government authorities is reflected in this structure (in the case of known differences in their operation in both these regimes, or in a regime of delegated performance of state administration), including the conditions of funding these services as public services.

The second revised and extended edition of University textbook Organizational Behavior is the work of an international team of authors. University teachers of two Slovak universities and two Czech universities are the authors of this book. Problem areas of organizational behavior and its processing comprehensively was the intention of the authors. University textbook is complemented by 10 chapters, other chapters are significantly revised. University textbook is thematically divided into five parts. The first part treats the issue of organizational behavior as a discipline. Organizational behavior is theoretically defined, there is indicated the subject matter of the discipline, relationship with other sciences, historical and scientific foundations of organizational behavior. There are also presented knowledge about formal organizations and bureaucracy. Final of the first part is dedicated to social science research and social audit in organizations. The second part is called Individual aspects of organizational behavior and there are included themes as personality, work and its role in human life, job satisfaction, work motivation and loyalty of employees. This part is complemented by the issue of personality, competency and power of manager and career issues. Interpersonal interaction and group processes in an organization is the name of the third part of the book. It includes the chapters as working group, team and team roles, leadership and its impact on human personality, communication, performance management, friendships and loneliness in the organization. This section was complemented by the issue of interculturar communication in the international organizational context, conflicts in the workplace and workplace misbehavior. Fourth, complemented part is called Resources and means of ensuring employees and there are included themes such as external and internal mobility of workers, personal marketing, and unemployed as a potential source of workforce and talent management. The fifth part is called The organization as a culture and organizational dynamics. Authors included topics such as organizational culture, social responsibility of organizations and added the themes ethics on workplace, change management and radical change – reengineering. University textbook presents current theoretical knowledge and also the results of relevant research. Contents of chapters are complemented by practical examples of organizations. There are included questions for reflection and tasks at the end of each chapter. Tasks that help students and professional public apply the theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems. This University textbook comes with support KEGA no. 013-UPJŠ 4/2013 titled Organizational Behavior - University textbook for the compulsory subject of the new study program.

The papers published in this proceedings support the research part of the investigators of the scientific project with their content. At the same time, they create a professional and scientific diapasone for further investigation and creation of scientific hypotheses.

A peer-reviewed collection of contributions from the 6th year of the international scientific conference for doctoral students, which took place on March 19, 2021 (online via MS Teams).

Doctoral studies, as the highest level of higher education, prepare students interested in further education to acquire new knowledge and creatively apply it in their future scientific work. Students of doctoral studies actively participate in obtaining new, original scientific results and thus contribute to the development of scientific knowledge in their field.

Doctoral studies play a crucial role in educating top experts. From this perspective, we consider it essential to emphasize creativity and originality in research work, the development of critical thinking, the ability to discuss specific professional problems in broader contexts, and the ability to present achieved results. The Faculty of Public Administration at P.J. Šafárik University in Košice also created space for such professional discussions and presentations of achieved results by organizing the 6th annual scientific conference "Theory and Practice of Public Administration," which took place on March 19, 2021. Public administration is an integral part of every democratic state, influencing each of our lives; therefore, discussing its current issues and familiarizing ourselves with new solutions is necessary. The scientific conference was attended by 33 participants from the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, and Slovakia. The contributions presented focused on current public administration issues from legal, economic, social, and political perspectives.

The dynamically evolving contemporary society creates expectations and demands among citizens for public administration to be efficient, reliable, open, professional, and fast. New theories of knowledge, in connection with constant changes, must also include practical application and reflection of these characteristics in the public administration system in practice. For this reason, it is important to pay attention to new approaches from both theoretical and practical perspectives to the application of modern public administration in the conditions of the V4 countries.

Given that public administration is an interdisciplinary scientific discipline that utilizes knowledge from a wide range of scientific fields and thus enables a comprehensive approach to solving problems of modern public administration, the peer-reviewed proceedings of contributions from the doctoral students' scientific conference are divided into three sections: socio-economic, political science, and legal. The proceedings compile research outcomes from individual contributions presented at the conference. The volume provides contemporary insights into a broad spectrum of challenges faced by local self-governance not only in Slovakia but also internationally.

The proceedings include 32 contributions, primarily focused on sustainable development of local self-governance, funding sources for local self-governance, innovations in methodologies and thinking within the public sector, and other pressing topics requiring solutions.

Collection of contributions from 8th annual conference of the international doctoral conference "Theory and Practice of Public Administration", which took place on February 17, 2023 online through Microsoft Teams under the auspices of the Faculty of Public Administration of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.

The conference was attended by 32 doctoral students from the Slovak Republic, Ukraine, and African countries. The conference allowed the participants to present the results of their scientific research activities in the field of public administration. The conference participants were divided into 4 sections according to the topic of their contribution. In the political science section, the participants presented contributions thematically focused, for example, on the solution of green issues in the Slovak Republic or the influence of the political culture of the inhabitants of the Slovak-Ukrainian border on local and regional political processes.

The social section provided a space for presenting contributions and discussing, for example, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on marginalized groups in the Slovak Republic. In the economic section, participants presented contributions from, for example, the field of waste management or the impact of employing foreigners on the economy of the Slovak Republic. The legal sections dealt with, for example, the topic of current changes in public procurement, the activities of VÚC councils or the protection of personal data of minors in the online space.

Meniace sa podmienky na trhu práce prinášajú aj nové výzvy pre pracovné právo. Pôvodne relatívne homogénny charakter pracovných síl je minulosťou a dochádza ku stále väčšej fragmentácii. Štandardná práca v pracovnom pomere na neurčitý čas a na plný úväzok je na ústupe, rozširujú sa najrôznejšie formy atypických zamestnaní. Osobitná regulácia právneho postavenia zamestnaných osôb môže byť  determinantom ovplyvňujúcim zachovávanie dôstojnosti a ich ochrany v pracovnom procese. Osobitné kategórie zamestnancov, ktorým v tejto monografii venujeme pozornosť sú určitým spôsobom „povýšené“ z hľadiska ochrany a  u niektorých  kategórií zamestnancov zaznamenávame práve medzerovitosť v ochrannej zložke pracovného práva. Trendom vývoja pracovného práva je okrem iného prirodzená miera upúšťania od prílišnej kogentnosti a rigidnosti právnej úpravy. Paradoxne nastupujúca ,,rigidná“ požiadavka flexibility pracovnoprávnych vzťahov a jej postupné „zapracovanie„ do jednotlivých právnych inštitútov Zákonníka práce či iných pracovnoprávnych predpisov,  spôsobuje ďalšie významné prehlbovanie zaostávania posilňovania ochrany zamestnanca (pri telepráci, pri platformových zamestnancoch).

Ponúka multiparadigmatický pohľad na sociálnu politiku Západnej civilizácie s jej axiologickým fundamentom, ktorý má svoj základ v historickom odkaze Starovekého Grécka, skrz kresťanstvo; predovšetkým kresťanské sociálne učenie, až po postmodernú polyparadigmatickú súčasnosť nového storočia a tisícročia. Je rozdelená do šestnástich základných kapitol, ktoré postupne predstavujú  sociálnu politiku od jej základných charakteristík a pojmov, cez aktérov  a  historický development, až po jej šesť základných integrálnych súčastí.
