Traumatológia – úrazová chirurgia je rýchlo vyvýjajúci sa odbor a v súčasnosti disponuje veľkým množstvom informácií, ktoré sa neustále rozrastajú a doplňujú o nové. Účelom tejto časti knižnej pubikácie je poskytnúť študentom a mladým začínajúcim lekárom stručný prehľad o diagnostike a liečbe úrazov hornej končatiny. Úlohou bolo zostaviť jasný a stručný text doplnený o bohatú obrazovú prílohu, aby si čitateľ vedel predstaviť charakter  a  následnú liečbu dôsledkov úrazu.

Publikácia čerpá s princípov práce a terapie lekárov oddelenia úrazovej chirurgie II. ortopedicko-traumatologickej kliniky LF UK, Univerzitnej nemocnice sv. Cyrila a Metóda v Bratislave – Petržalke. Našou snahou je študenta a mladého lekára obohatiť o teoretické vedomosti, ktoré mu v praxi pomôžu správne diagnostikovať a odborne ošetriť najčastejšie úrazy hornej končatiny u dospelého pacienta.

The textbook "Heart surgery for medics" was created in response to repeated requests from students of the Faculty of Medicine P.J.Šafárik University, for the surgery state exam study material. In terms of content, the text corresponds to the required knowledges in cardiac surgery, needed to pass the state exam in surgery. Orientation in the issue of cardiac surgery is not only necessary for students whose specialization will be closely related to the given field. Basic knowledge of cardiac surgery is necessary for every medical faculty graduate. Knowing the treatment options, but also the possible complications of individual cardiac surgical procedures, is necessary for most medical specialties. Only by mastering the basics of each medical field can the patient be properly, adequately and modernly managed.

The learning material for the course Practice in Immunology is based on several years of experience with teaching this subject, but mainly to provide students from the Biology Department at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, UPJŠ in Košice with sufficient theoretical background for practical exercises. Publikace je určena především studentům prvního ročníku oboru Zdravotnický záchranář. Její hlavním účelem bylo sjednotit témata a postupy specifické pro tento obor. Po novelizaci zákona č. 96/2004 může zdravotnický záchranář vykonávat činnosti bez odborného dohledu až po jednom roce výkonu povolání při poskytování akutní lůžkové péče. Ošetřovatelské postupy jsou specifikovány a přiblíženy pracovním podmínkám oddělení jednotek intenzivní péče.

Zohledňuje úlohu zdravotnických pracovníků při zvyšování zdravotní gramotnosti populace a úspěšné komunitní projekty podpory zdraví dlouhodobě realizované v České republice, které zvyšováním zdravotní gramotnosti cílových skupin populace přispívají k posílení zodpovědnosti za vlastní zdraví obyvatel našeho státu.

“Pathology Part 2 (summer semester) - Practical lessons for students of dental medicine” represents the second half of the university textbook designed for the pregradual study of pathology. The textbook complements the lectures of pathology and serves as a source of information for students of dental medicine, that are preparing for the practical credit, as well as the final oral examination.

In this part of the “Pathology” series, forty-four selected histopathological slides are presented. Each selected slide is provided with general information in relation to etiology and pathogenesis of the disease, as well as with corresponding morphological features, including the gross appearance and the most important histopathological characteristics. The textbook summarizes the basic concepts of systemic pathology (pathology of the heart, vessels, lungs, gastrointestinal, urogenital system, breast, musculoskeletal, nervous system, skin and infancy) and pathology of the orofacial region, that is logical continuation and completion of general pathology in the first semester.

Among students of single-discipline and interdisciplinary biology studies at faculties with a natural science focus, there often arises a problem in defining the scope of the curriculum when studying the subject of Human Anatomy. The presented study material aims to help students of non-medical scientific fields navigate the extensive anatomical terminology and to limit the amount of required anatomical terms to an optimum, so that alongside mastering Latin nomenclature, students still have sufficient capacity to memorize additional knowledge in the areas of systemic, comparative, developmental, and functional anatomy.

Emphasis on organizing individual anatomical terms into logical units simultaneously supports a hierarchical view of the architecture of the human body. Monovízia bola bežne používaná stratégia, ktorá na dosiahnutie videnia do diaľky a do blízkosti využívala neuroadaptáciu pomocou implantácie monofokálnych IOL. Dominantné oko sa zvyčajne zameriavalo na videnie do diaľky a nedominantné oko na videnie na blízko. Tradične sa úplné monovízne videnie zameriavalo na dosiahnutie zamýšľanej krátkozrakosti −2,5 D v nedominantnom oku.

Cieľom tejto vedeckej monografie bolo predstaviť vedeckej komunite novú, doteraz nepublikovanú metódu liečby. Hlavným cieľom bolo po obojstrannej plánovanej očnej operácii novou kombináciou IOL dosiahnuť optimálnu ZO a nezávislosť od okuliarov v každodenných bežných činnostiach.

Súhrnne, novinkou v našom prístupe, ktorý sme nazvali „rozšírená monovízia“, bolo použitie rotačne asymetrickej bifokálnej EDOF IOL s nízkou adíciou v nedominantnom oku a cieľovou refrakciou -1,25 D v kombinácii s monofokálnou asférickou IOL v dominantnom oku (cieľová refrakcia bola v tomto prípade emetropia).

Učebnica AKO POUŽÍVAŤ SLOVENČINU V LEKÁRSKOM PROSTREDí  – základy slovenčiny pre študentov medicíny obsahuje 13 lekcií, ktoré sú vhodné pre samoštúdium a pre prácu s učiteľom na jazykovom seminári. Tematicky zamerané lekcie ponúkajú základy slovenskej výslovnosti, slovnej zásoby, krátke dialógy a jednoduchý výklad užitočnej gramatiky. Všetky cvičenia a aktivity umožňujú študentom osvojovať si a precvičovať bohatú lekársku slovnú zásobu a vybranú gramatiku v kontexte. Obsahujú kľúčové slová, slovné spojenia, jednoduché frázy a základné otázky, ktoré sa používajú v komunikácii lekára s pacientom. Dôraz sa kladie na funkčnosť jazyka pre získavanie údajov o zdravotnom stave pacienta, o jeho živote, rodinnom prostredí, o chorobách predkov, súrodencov a pod. Na konci učebnice sú tematicky zoradené užitočné slová a slovné spojenia z prostredia nemocnice, zoznam základných slovies a kľúč k cvičeniam.

University scripts “Visceral pathology of vascular origin“analyze one of the most challenging vascular regions, the aorta and the visceral aortic branches, from the surgical perspective. The diagnostic and the treatment aneurysms of the abdominal aorta are dedicated to the first chapter. Early diagnostic and operative treatment is crucial in the treatment of ruptured aneurysms of the abdominal aorta. Shortening of the interval between the patient’s arrival with ruptured aneurysm of the abdominal aorta into the hospital and the beginning of the operation decreased the perioperative mortality. This shortening, together with the use of the cell savers, led to the dropping of perioperative mortality from 50% to 20%. The diagnostics and surgical treatment of the acute and chronic occlusion of the aorta and iliac arteries are analyzed in the second chapter. In this chapter, the focus is given to the aortobifemoral bypass as “the gold standard“ of the surgical therapy of aortoiliac atherosclerosis. The management of acute mesenteric ischemia is the content of the third chapter. Acute mesenteric ischemia is a severe condition with high mortality. The problem of acute mesenterial ischemia is a delayed diagnostic that is the reason for poor therapeutical outcomes of the disease. The possible imagine studies and operations used in treating acute mesenteric ischemia are brought in this chapter. Chronic mesenteric ischemia leads to cachexia. The diagnosis of chronic mesenterial ischemia is one of the most demanding, and surgical therapy used in the treatment of chronic mesenterial ischemia also belongs to the most challenging operations. Left-sided colon ischemia belongs to the severe complications of the aortoiliac reconstructions. Left-sided colon ischemia has a high mortality. In the prevention of the left-sided colon, ischemia is preserving at least one internal iliac artery. The complex diagnostics treatment of intraabdominal compressive syndromes as Dunbar syndróme, „Nutcracker“ syndróme a Wilkie syndróme, analyzed in the last chapter.

There is still little complete information about the system of care for adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems, especially in Slovakia.

Therefore, the main aim of this publication is to summarize and present current findings of the Care4Youth project, not only about the system, but also about the role of particular actors involved in the care of these adolescents, including family, professionals and schools.

In the chapters, we take a closer look at the cooperation of all involved actors and, from the point of view of care providers from different types of institutions, we will describe all barriers that negatively affect adequate and effective help as well as suggestions how the identified barriers could be eliminated.
