Slovak for Dentists is a textbook intended for international dental students preparing to communicate professionally in Slovak in a real dental environment. The second, expanded and revised edition is the result of several years of practical use and feedback from students. In terms of content and structure, the textbook focuses on developing all language skills, with particular emphasis on understanding spoken language and oral communication in dentist–patient interactions. The textbook contains 14 lessons, including two review test lessons, as well as a Slovak–English dictionary, an answer key, and six appendices. Compared to the first edition, this version includes updated dialogues in audio format, new texts, revised exercises, and a redesigned layout. The vocabulary is specifically focused on the field of dentistry and the most frequent communication situations in a dental office. The textbook reflects different levels of students’ Slovak language proficiency and also offers additional texts for more advanced learners. The lessons include grammar boxes with practical explanations for learners of Slovak as a foreign language. The publication is primarily intended for classroom use but also allows for effective self-study. The surgical practice starts with detailed knowledge of anatomy. Even if anatomy of human body has not changed over the time, perfection and precision of surgical practice require precise knowledge of anatomical structures, their location, and topographical relationships. Everyone should be aware of the occurrence of possible variations as well. 

A prospective medical doctor should not rely on knowledge gained by studying models, schemes, and pictures, but should combine two types of learning: visual and didactic. Wide array of the visual learning development, considering vision alone, and a detailed and realistic approach to difficult access to structures of the human body are important precursors that create sufficient and quality knowledge needed for clinical practice and appropriate professional development. 

This publication maps all of the clinically significant and difficult approached areas of the head that are not normally prepared for practical exercises in anatomy because of the time and difficulties with the preparation. The colorful, detailed photodocumentation enriched by schemes and followed by procedure guide provides a view of structures until now only poorly documented. We sincerely hope that this monograph will fill the gap in medical literature offered in the market at present time.

The e-learning textbook is available at: https://portal.lf.upjs.sk. The textbook contains 11 chapters focusing on the microscopic anatomy of the head and neck region, with an emphasis on the oral and nasal cavities, skull bones and their development, and the detailed microscopic structure of teeth and their development. One chapter is dedicated to dentition from the perspective of the clinical significance of understanding tooth structure and development. The textbook includes chapters on the microscopic anatomy of organs that are functionally important for the head region, such as the vascular, lymphatic, endocrine, and nervous systems. The textbook is linked to an atlas, has a total of 490 pages, and features 300 original microphotographs using common histological stains, histochemical, immunohistochemical, and impregnation methods.
