The university textbook History of Public Administration is the most significant and unique text of this field published in Slovakia so far in terms of its conception and scope. It focuses on the development of governance from antiquity almost to the present day. It deals with such individual stages as patrimonial, estates, absolutist, napoleonic, constitutional, totalitarian and soviet administration up to the democratic one, noting not only the organisation of administration and governance at the central level, but also at the regional and local level. It sees the development of public administration in the context of the development of legal, economic, social and political systems. Although almost every chapter is based on the characteristics of the development of public administration at a given stage in Slovakia, it is always framed by the general characteristics of European developments as well as developments in some other relevant countries. The publication has a well-organized and clear structure, is written in an accessible style and language, so that it can find its readers, in addition to university students, also among the general professional and non professional public.
