The general part of substantive administrative law provides students of the Faculty of Law with an extensive complex of knowledge, principles, institutes and legal norms that form the basis for the existence and practical functioning of public administration. It is a prerequisite for mastering a special part of substantive administrative law and subsequently administrative procedural law. The textbook was prepared by a team of associate professors of administrative law of the Department of Constitutional Law and Administrative Law of the Faculty of Law of Pavel Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. The authors paid attention to the actual state of theory, science and practice of administrative law in the context of current developments. Where they considered it necessary, they also included relevant examples in the text in an effort to facilitate the understanding of the sometimes complex theoretical matter. The text of the textbook is divided into eight chapters, which in their sequence and internal arrangement enable individual and creative acquisition of knowledge about general institutes of administrative law and public administration in the Slovak Republic.
